Since the PU-8 motherboard has the unpopulated solder points for the few capacitors other components, and the DIN connector used by the S-video circuit of the earlier PU-7 board, do you know if anyone has tried retrofitting direct S-video to a PU-8? btw those unpopulated cap spots at 4:47 are for the S-video direct out circuit on the PU-7.
Yes, but there is quite a bit more to add than just installing the caps. There is also a filter (that's the 6 pin footprint above the not installed caps) possibly a 0.1uF ceramic used for coupling the chroma signal and some amplifier circuits built using discrete components just below the CXA1645 video encoder at the bottom of the board - these are the unpopulated pads on the left side and use the same parts as the populated buffer amplifier for the composite video that's the right of empty pads. I tried it, but honestly I couldn't see any quality difference between the Y/C output on the S-Video socket and the one that was already present on the Multi-AV connector.
@@TrimeshSZ I know it is pointless since the multi-out exists, I just thought it might be an interesting project. Good to know at least one person has pulled it off successfully. Thank you for the info.
it´s so depressing in a way to know that even the original Playstation have gotten old enough to have leaky caps. Why much every old capacitor in my gear leak? I both love and hate to re-cap all my old gear, I hate to do it but I love when I have done it
I fully recapped and revived a PU-18 board to install an xStation, but that board seems much easier with less caps and not so tight placement compared to this.
@@RetroRenegadeRepairs I asked because I'm looking for a camera but I think I found one but the question is the articulating arm, I'm searching a good seller that sell a good quality, and so should I go with a pole of 32mm or without on the clamp ? Thank You
PAL is a further development of NTSC and therefore PAL TV's can show NTSC picture, but not the other way around ...
0:45 Has so many capacitors I’m surprised it doesn’t have a Flux Capacitor though. 😝

Still more reliable than modern consoles... 😂
Facts. PS5 always has broken hdmi port😂

There were no leaky caps in the video, they were just being replaced for preventative maintenance. After all, these are verging on 24-30 years old!
Ggs man looked good I always appreciate these videos
I recapped 2 PU22 boards and it went pretty well. My first time installing all SMDs caps. Both my PS1s work like new!

I really enjoyed my parallel port as a 12 year old with next to no money.
has the bios been dumped?
how can i get in touch with you about repairing a ps2?
Is that a Net Yaroze machine?
net yaroze is black
More PlayStation 1 videos please
Is your microscope with a 180x ? or else...
