Gonna mod another X360 in the future so im just watching a plethora of videos on mods on both OG and 360 units. Kudos to you for being the first person to not wrench the connectors out by the cables but instead using pliers and using a fiberglass pen instead of a blade!
Soldering newbie here, your channel is so fun to watch. When you say "float" and not "pushing down". Are you just letting the weight of the tool apply the pressure? I'm guessing it's a totally nuanced skillset, like drywall finishing or carpentry.
Yes, I let the weight of the tool glide over the solder bumps. In some cases you need a little bit of pressure, but that's not often. Thanks for watching!
It is not recommended to use metal scrapers on the mating surfaces of ICs and heat sinks. Those surfaces are usually precision machined and introducing scratches and other imperfections may negatively impact heat transfer. Does it matter really? Probably not.. But a plastic scraper will work just as well, and not score the surfaces.
I really want the full package done for my OG Xbox but it says sold out. Very enjoyable watching the process of your videos. You are local that's a plus.
You obviously can complete the cpu upgrade, so congratulations on that. Not many people can do that mod. A few things you might want to reconsider: The Smc doesn't trigger an overheat condition unless the CPU exceeds 85c. Tualatins are only rated for 70c. With that in mind it's very important to keep the STOCK fan statically set to at least 60%. The default fan curve for the ogx will cook that cpu alive. Since petg doesn't deform until around 80c, it's more than adequate to use as a bracket for the heatsink. Last thing to keep in mind. It's always good practice to delid anything you put through high temps during rework. It's a lot easier to delid these CPUs with them off the board. The last thing you want to do is have to honor a warranty claim or deal with delidding them months/years after performing this mod.
Noctua fan moves less air but is more silent. It's not something you want to do with CPU upgraded consoles. You want the stock fan statically set to at least 60% so the Xbox doesn't cook the upgraded cpu l.
@Johnny_LuvBuckets Yeah ur right, but im speaking of 3d Printed Mounts i have a GPU and a CPU fan Mounted including de Casefan so its tottal of 3 Noctua Fans 1x 40mm 2x 60mm And it works well, if you change the Heatsink with a chopper one its even better 😁
@@BaconCola is that one of Matty suds prints? I might want to try it on one of my builds to see if it's as effective. It might work with a noctua on top of both heatsinks and then one as an exhaust.
In regards off HDD/SSD replacement = i did mods with Compact Flash Drives. It has native IDE support and runs without any lag inducing Sata to IDE converter. Obviously the amount of storage is limited, but 128GB is at least 10x more. Mire than enough. But for each his own...
I was thinking about the processor upgrade of original xbox consoles, does it has any sense on doing it? I mean, what's the purpose of it and how can someone benefit when all games where optimized for the original CPU/GPU. Is homebrew development takes advantage of such upgrades?
I need to know something. My Xbox has a bad clock capacitor and every time I connect the RJ45 Ethernet cable my screen flashes erratically but not constantly. Could it be a problem with that capacitor? If not, does anyone have any idea where the problem could be?
can you fix mine? i have a canadian crystal xbox, with an x3, that could use modernization and repair. it failed to power on a couple years ago. i had ot recapped but it never turned back on, have a feeling it was poorly repaired.

used your video to restore my own OG xbox, appreciate you showing steps and now just assuming we all have the knowledge before hand
Thank you. I'm glad you restored your XBOX using the video.
It is so cool to see this original consoles upgraded and shiny once again. I personally use hdmi mod on my PlayStation 1

Love the video and you made me laugh out loud a few times :)
40's technology FTW!! And holding hot stuff, your real are a superman.

Check out our contact form. We've been mostly making these build to order.

Thanks for the suggestions. Agreed on the deliding, especially for an old processor like these ones.
there are 3d prints to replace the fan with a noctua fan same goes for the 60mm case fan. i did that simple mod its quiet and cooler

I always use WD-40 the regular one to clean that old thermal paste. Then a good clean with IPA and it's ready to goo
Don't get why people don't like using OGX360i and Nemesis' Dual Fan kit if they want it to be quiet and cool.
Great work sir
As always, nice work and the perfect amount of OCD irritation.

But for each his own...
Great job!
Spot on install
Fantastic work, like always. Do you have a link to your shop?
Always interesting
How much does something like this cost to have done?
I also inquired about having this done and still haven’t heard back
Is there classes to learn about soldering and working things like this?
This is a system I brought for 5 dollers but it didn't have any cables or controllers plus a box and manual 😊
Anyone know if there is a bios that boots the xbox at 720p instead of 408i/480p? Reason being my AV receiver only accepts 720p through hdmi.
EXCELLENT!
"That's not what I wanted hijo de la..." lol
So you do repair on xbox consoles? Im interested in learning from this channel and also if i need a repair i would like to know if you offer repairs
what is a ballpark to have all that work done minus parts?
That beeping is torture my dude.
great video! is the STL available for the heat sink bracket?
Thanks. IIRC, Acemods should have them in his github.

Its mostly homebrew and a few games that run slowly on the stock hardware.
Great job the CPU,RAM upgrades but why not also change the orignal, 20 year old CAPS?
I did. I didn't include that portion in the video.
@@RetroRenegadeRepairs how dare you withhold information from us!
Amazing video 👀🔥👌🤌
new subscriber greetings from tucson
Welcome to the channel!
Is there possible to put ssd and better gpu?
Repairing the trace fixed what exactly?
Why use piss to remove the old paste? I used acetone and it worked fantastic
Quite daring ;)
How did the traces get damaged, only due to the corrosion or because the mainboard wasn't handled properly?
Corrosion from the clock cap.
@RetroRenegadeRepairs
Damn.. I have two xbox consoles still in the closet with only the tsop chips flashed. Really need to check them out.
Did you have any problems ordering the interposer board I'm getting a error from jlcpcb
Kann man eigentlich ein PC ATX Netzteil an einer Xbox anschließen?
Can you do it like Mario whres the one with seal broke

that is some good piss brother
Perfect Hair 👌
Ultimate Xbox has XBMC4Gamers on it 😉😂
how mutch such thing costs?
Top tip WD40 makes light work of that old thermal paste
Cuesta mas dinero hacerle todo esto a la consola que otra cosa...
Pointed q-tips work just as good as a brush for thermal paste after applying goo gone.
Awwe yeah

Sure, we accept mail-in repairs of these units. Check out our contact form.
If you want hot air just get Trump to breathe over it, will melt it right off.

So much disinformation 💀🤣 I love it! Jk but seriously 🤙
not what i expected to much damn talking and less work being done
