- On this episode we take a look at a watch with a lot of potential from an unexpected manufacturer. Yes, this 40mm, automatic, vintage Rolex Submariner inspired diver is from... Invicta! Even more surprising, it's actually pretty good for the money. There's a screw-down crown for a confident 200m of water resistance and even a display caseback showcasing its Seiko powered movement, they even threw on some high polished bevels for good measure. Heck, it even has a nice even 20mm lug width, meaning a swap to a vintage Tropic-style rubber, fabric NATO, or even distressed leather strap will quickly have the '1953' feeling like a great daily mechanical beater. I never thought I’d say this...If you look at materials of construction, build quality, and reliability with the Seiko movement, these are likely better watches than the antique Rolex equivalent. Let’s not forget that early Rolex watches were fairly affordable, mass produced affairs.
Lets be honest here if it said anything other than Invicta, like Orient or Seiko or Timex, at this price they would fly out the door

The case branding is nice and a luxury feature. The latter is a matter of fact. Blancpain and Breitling do it. So what? You don‘t like it? ok. I do.

I have a couple of Invicta Sub homages, but this is truly their best bang for the buck. The female end links give a better wrist fit. The hands are perfect; the right length and NOT the MBZ design. The case finishing is a big plus too.

Probably the first Invicta that I'd wear. It's pretty clean, doesn't have that stupid 'winged' counterweight on the second hand and that tack-as-f**k engraving on the side.

Way more tasteful than the older Pro Diver; no "wings" on the dial or second hand, no "Invicta" on the side.

Tasteful and Invicta are not usually mentioned in the same breath but yeah... this one is pretty sharp. Not for me but looks like it could be a great entry level daily piece. Thanks for showing it to us.

Best Invicta I have seen in a long time! Hopefully Invicta sees some comments like this and on the forums elsewhere. I was going to pull the trigger on this model about a week ago but didn't. These are now out of stock everywhere. Anyways, is one I am definitely keeping my eye out for to be restocked! What a steal for $100.
Well, never thought I’d own an Invicta, not that I have anything against them because I can’t say that since I’ve never owned one BUT this is absolutely happening. This is definitely going to fill that vintage diver void for me at a great price. Just ordered one mid video.
I have a bunch of Invicta watches and yes they do have a lot of dopey watches but they also have some very cool pieces for the money I love them👍🏻

I just bought one of these from a private owner I payed a bit over list price but once again my impatience got the better of me! But it will be here in a cpl days and I’m sure I’ll love it as I love my prodiver submariner homage!!
It’s funny how most host’s laugh when they say the word “Invicta” yet they have sold millions with many happy customers, my thoughts, they are hit or miss, they did good with this model however, especially for the price!! Perfect beater!!
Apart from the ball on the tip of the seconds hand, I think Invicta has hit a real home-run! This WILL be my first Invicta for sure. Just need to find it available somewhere for a reasonable price. Thanks for a great video!

Very nice, ! I love my 29178 Pro diver, (42mm on the jubilee) it settled down after the couple of months, and now runs at around +2s per day (left overnight dial down) !!

Bought it, liked it, wear it and I never take it off. If it breaks or gets lost, I’ll get another one. Very smooth and got compliments on it.

That 1953 is still sold out at ShopHQ but I have the Invicta pro diver 25806 “master of the oceans”. It’s a Swiss made 44mm with a Rhonda 515. It has the cyclops date window as well. It’s a solid watch, I wear it everyday day at work. I’m a tradesman and it gets a workout! This is a very streamlined and sharp watch for $100!
Got this watch delivered to my house today. Made a micro adjustment on the clasp and then removed a link on the bracelet. Fits my 7 1/2" wrist like a charm. Myself, I like that the crown is guardless. Nice long hands and full length second hand. Definitely a good looking piece. For a hundred bucks I cannot complain.
Got mine a little over a month ago, installed a single dome sapphire crystal & this watch is awesome🤙
This watch is awesome. I modded mine with a double dome sapphire crystal which took it to a whole other level. Crystals made for the SKX007 are a perfect fit for this watch.

Shino2600 It seems to be. I didn't have it professionally water tested after the crystal swap, but I have been swimming with it a couple of times and didn't have any issues.

Just got one of these in the mail today it is as advertised! Such clean cut simple but elegant watch! I put it on a NATO strap and have a “Bond” NATO strap on its way!

So far so good with this 1953 invicta, what great piece affordable and seriously stunning piece, from other Invictas 👍🏼👍🏼..unfortunately you can't find it anywhere , I was lucky enough to get one, straight from invicta.

I’ve got the regular pro-diver with the scalloped bezel. I wish this was around when I got it. I much prefer this watch as a whole, especially the dial and handset.
Damn it now I want an Invicta again... Used to have 8926 - and that was the watch that got me into the hobby and mainly automatics... This one looks really nice (I`m a sucker for Sub homages... I might save up for one (we hit a major economics crysis with that virus damn it...)

Maybe the only invicta I would wear. Maybe... . They did a really good job on that.
If you want something almost exactly identical, check out the san martin vintage sub. Very nicely done and with an nh35.
I have a Swiss made Invicta 25808 quartz with sapphire crystal, nice watch at a good price with cyclops and date window. A stunning watch with an emerald green sunburst dial and steel bracelet with polished mid links. And a stylish white printed miniature Great White Shark motif with MASTER OF THE OCEANS printed above it. I also have an Invicta Pro Diver 32503 with jubilee bracelet and NH35A movement, which I love. And a Batman 1953. Which is my new favourite watch! All 3 watches are Rolex homages which is just fine with me. They get just as much respect as the other 11 watches in my collection which includes heavyweights like Citizen, Seiko and Casio.

I’ve got 2 invictas ive modded... hardly wear them now tho... a good mod for this would be to add Mercedes hands... that’s the only thing I’d change... and I second the no invicta on the side of the case!

Yesterday, Jan, 08. 2021, they reissued a ‚very limited‘ quantity of the 1953 in Europe. I ordered one. € 120.-, ca. $ 100.-
I have the Invicta 1953 and actually found a sapphire crystal that is made for this watch. It’s a flat sapphire so it doesn’t change the appearance of the watch but gives added piece of mind. I do like the watch very much but the only real downside is actually psychological in that although it looks almost identical to a 1953 Rolex, you’re constantly aware that you’re wearing an Invicta.
Invicta makes many different styles. The TH-cam watch snobs like to hate on Invicta. I own several as part of my 80 watch collection and they have been good durable watches. I have several Pro Divers that have been gifted to me. I have a Grand Diver that was one of the first automatics I bought several years ago and it does great. I have an Invicta Reserve Diver with the hi-beat 28,800 beat Sellita 200 movement in it. If you took the name off of the watches, they would get very good-to-excellent reviews. They have excellent finishing for the price point. Some have solid end links. They all have signed crowns. Most have the NH-35A Seiko movement in them. What's not to like, except the brand name? I bought the black PVD model and put it on the black with red/green stripes Bond Nato. Looks sweet!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to share specs with the pro diver, or many other watches for that matter. The Invicta modding thread on watchuseek has done a bit of a dive into this model.

You get the movement NH35A, which is the same as what you can get on a $350 Seiko or in a $450 microbrand.... c'mon!, has a 200 meters water resistance, it's a bargain! really sweet watch! I have one :)

I think they've actually got it right this time ,a nice looking watch without the usual invicta "business" everywhere ,i'd definitely consider this as a daily especially if i could pick it up at around $100 but not possible in the UK, I reckon these will fly off the shelf over there & rightly so for the price.

currently around 300 on ebay. hold off more are coming this Fall, and in multi bezel colors i hear.
We'll see but if we see it again it will likely be at the now $249 Invicta retail price showing on their website unfortunately.
As I understand it the multi-color bezels were already released for the Asian market.
New models did show up.... but with red dial text and not the original model.

In the realm of modding...I suppose I could see that. I personally would never consider it an SKX replacement. I’m sure it possibly could be for some though.

Love big, love gaudy, love color, love Invicta. I'm buying three or four to go with several outfits. I have Longines, I have Seiko, I have Tags. I want watches at lower price points to be accessories for clothing. I'm not a sn These are great watches for the price and I love the logos.

Some of these have Seiko NH35 or Seiko NH36 movements, while some of these Japanese Miyota movements and a few use Sea-Gull movements which are also used in many watches (the Timex autos use it for example). During sales, many of these could be had for much less than the Invictas, despite being better in virtually every possible way.

Did they ghost the bezel like an old Rolex Submariner too? lol. Got be honest, the vintage Rolex GMT Master and Rolex Submariner look never goes out of style.
