Just out of curiosity and such I think your brightness and color settings can be tweaked and calibrated more accurately.. most monitors out of the box are in a standard “rec-709” for video editing or what it says is the default which is DCI-P3 if you can change the color space it’s set to you may have a much richer HDR experience but it just depends on the capabilities of the monitor. Love the review and detailed menu walkthrough!! Lmk if you have questions I would like to know the full capabilities of it for video editing and color accuracy.
Hi, man. Can you tell if this monitor use ABL in HDR mode or not? This is what really annoys me with my LG UltraGear OLED monitor, which starts to dim the entire screen whenever some bright objects are displayed on a large square…
I wanted one until i heard about the matte coating is it as bad as they say? The rog swift oled pg32ucdm has been my 1 choice at the moment idk which one to get
@@Yeorock I will say if you don't feel comfortable in getting it , then don't buy it . get what you want the most. in terms if matt is bad, I wouldn't know because I'm coming from a 4k IPS screen. so far the blacks are much much better for me , the matt finish is go for me I don't see any reflection compared to a glossy "But" I'm also in a heavy light controlled room which is 90% dark most of the time 24/7 so that is when matt screen works the best. if your in a light room go with glossy I guess , but I from what I seen videos of and from my own experience it works good in light too at least this model. but go with what your feel is best.
These calibration are for HDR. What are your calibration for SDR? When you go on you xbox dashboard or play a game thats not on HDR your calibration are not active because Game HDR is unavailable to select on SDR. You are left to choose with one of the Game Genre pictures settings. (Of course you can calibrate them)
It has New OLED Safeguard+ - including Dynamic Cooling & Thermal Modulation systems - helps prevent burn-in. Liquid cooling behind the screen! Samsung setting the bar, yet again! Have to have one! Can't wait!
@@gewdvibes There is no fan. It appears Game Mode uses more power: I'm measuring at 9watts just at the desktop. Substantially more heat comes off the back and top of the monitor.
Setting the bar yet again ? They are the only manufacturer that does not offer burn in coverage on their warranty, thats how much confident they are in their cooling solution
Have you tried the Smart Calibration option? I'll try tomorrow when I can borrow an iPhone. Also, I am unable to change the "game genre" like you did with RPG, RTS, Original, etc. I did turn off the HDR HGIG settings, but it is still greyed out and tells me it cannot be changed. I find my monitor has too much red and blue, so I've been messing with the white balance as well. Perhaps Smart Calibration will change this for me. Does anyone know if the other OLED monitors based on this Samsung panel natively do 240hz without changing to a special mode? I had been waiting on the MSI model until I saw this Samsung with the $300 gift card deal making it the same price (that deal expires in 2.5 days from this comment, by the way). It appears Game Mode uses more power: I'm measuring at 9watts just at the desktop. Substantially more heat comes off the back and top of the monitor. Can you corroborate?
Ahora que llevas un par de meses usándolo y tienes más experiencia con él, lo recomiendas totalmente a alguien que tiene un Neo G8? Merece la pena el cambio?
I got this model today In game settings,I dont see the freesync premium option I updated to the latest software ready Is my monitor a defect or do i need to do somethung to see that option?
I got a Samsung CHG70 and it's g-sync compatible as well. But if I enable it picture gets a lot dimmer to the point using it is not worth it. I was wondering if that's the case with every g-sync ''compatible'' monitor out there, especially this one since I'm planning to buy it. Thanks in advance to everyone who might give me some info on this.
Thanks for the review...i have this monitor myself, on my second as i keep getting intermittent black screening during gameplay that lasts for 1-3 seconds. Have you experienced this? if so how did you address it. Really do not want to RMA it as i do love how it looks and performs other than this issue. For context, all drivers for the PC are up to date. Monitor driver is the latest out as of 20 Aug 24 HDR is on - had it on auto but turned that off after some advice, but still getting it PC is really good - Nvidia 4090, Intel 11900k, 32gb ram, aio cooled, 2gen 4 nvme drives..so its a pretty good system. Never had tanything like this with my old LGGP850...any ideas?
same issue here. looks like it is a common issue for this monitor. I suggest you can try to change a better DP cable or exchange a same model from where you bought this to try out
@@SumireAoe I have exchanged it twice, now waiting on my third unit to come. I have bought another DP cable with a 48gbps capability, rather than use the stock one, but it really didnt make much difference. Apparently, if you actually disable gsync, and turn on VRR control, and possibly set a max frame rate of what your system is generally capable of ,..say 120fps, and match that to the Hz choice of the display and apply a frame rate cap on the game itself...should possibly help. I did several of these things but not all of them. I am now on the last chance saloon with this monitor, failing that im buying the LG32GS95UE. Though to be honest; i really hope it works
HDR LOOK BEAUTIFUL BUT WHEN I TRY TO PLAY DYING LIGHT 2 THE BANDING ON THE DARK AREAS IS HORRIBLE ESPECIALLY INSIDE THE HOUSE AT THE BEGINNING,CONTROL HAPPEN TOO BUT LESS MAYBE IS NOT THE MONITOR BECAUSE I THINK IT HAPPENS ON MY S95C TOO BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER HAPPENING WHEN I HAD THE NEO G8 CONNECTED
If you want an accurate picture, for HDR you want to set brightness and contrast to 50. Never use contrast enhancer, it crushes blacks and blows out highlights. Never ever use Native color space, it's extremely inaccurate. For accurate colors in HDR you want to set color space to "Auto" and color to 18. Color temp, whichever one is the closest to 6500k you should set it to. On the 34" G8 Standard was the only one you could adjust manually, don't know about this one. Also another thing. If you have Game HDR on, and set peak brightness to high, it probably completely overbrightens the picture almost everywhere. On the 34" G8 this is what happens, with GAME HDR on the monitor gets a ~400 nit cap, with peak brightness OFF it's in the True Black 400 mode, which is accurate. If you set Game HDR on and peak brightness to HIGH, it'll probably do the same thing as the 34", which is show 1000 nits of peak luminance with a 400 nit HDR signal. This means a lot of scenes are massively overbrightened. *Apparently this is not a thing with the newer Samsungs so don't worry about it. PB High with Game HDR will enable the HDR1000 mode, which I don't recommend.
@ With Contrast Enhancer you'll lose more detail, blacks are crushed and highlights get blown out. Are you using peak brightness high, or the HDR1000 mode? Because that will make your screen much darker than what it should be.
I haven't tried other oled monitors but on my previous video I showed the matte comparison with a light vs the Neo G8 and it is a big improvement but personally I still prefer glossy finish.
if the fps fluctuates too much, better ON because it reduces flickering, if instead they don't make big jumps, better off because the vrr increases latency
Im getting mine on Tuesday. I’m so worried about the coating. Have the OLED G8 34 inch. Love that monitor I just want a good replacement that is 16:9 aspect ratio. Calm my nerves, plz tell me it’s not that bad 😂
As someone who also owns this, I'm not a fan of matte however this screen is slowly convincing me that it doesn't matter as much as it used to now. it's the best matte screen I've ever seen, I've had the neo g8 and that matte screen was terrible, and I've also had the LG 27 inch woled monitor and that matte was also disgusting. In short I don't think you have anything to worry about it's the most clear matte display I think I've ever seen
These monitors only have DP 1.4 because DSC exists and I assume DP 2.1 would have been more expensive. DSC allows you to use 4k 240hz without any visible quality loss. Current Nvidia graphics cards don't even have DP 2.1 and no enthusiast uses AMD.
