BURN IN WARRANTY UPDATE!! Ok so a number of you have commented saying you were told burn in IS covered but as you can see at the 9:55 mark, I was told word for word "I'm afraid burn in is not covered in the 3 years warranty". Before posting this video I had no idea that Samsung was telling some people yes and others no, but now that I'm aware I wanted to make an effort to get to the bottom of it. Before we get to that I just want to say to those stating I'm purposely lying to use it as clickbait, I do everything I can to keep my videos honest and transparent and in no way would purposely deceive my viewers, that would only cast a negative light on my channel I've worked so hard to build.
So, (ready for a book?) I chatted twice on the Samsung G80SD page and spoke to a support rep and a supervisor using the customer service number's text with an agent option. I have screenshots for everything, but here's how it went.
Chat agent Steve: I asked "There is much misinformation out there regarding the G80SD's 3 year warranty, does it cover burn in or not?" Steve replied "The warranty for the Samsung G80SD monitor covers manufacturing defects and malfunctions that occur during daily use. However, it's important to note that burn-in is not typically covered under warranty as it is considered a result of prolonged static image display. Burn-in can occur when static images are displayed for extended periods of time, causing permanent damage to the screen." That's word for word what I was told by the 1st chat agent.
Chat agent Kavya: I asked "Quick question, does the G80SD 3 year warranty cover burn in?" Kavya replied "Yes. The monitor has the 3 years warranty." I then replied "I know it has a 3 year warranty but does that specifically cover burn in? Because I've asked twice before and both reps told me no." Kavya replied " Yes. Burn in does not covers under warranty" (Huh?) " It isn't explicitly stated, but we guarantee burn in protection for normal use. Samsung continuously innovates our Monitor OLED panels to prevent burn-in. Our Monitor OLED panels use pixel shifting and panel refresh to prevent burn-in, especially with still images. These technological improvements mean you can use your monitor without worrying about burn-in." So I replied " Ok so to be clear, burn in is or is not covered?" Kavya replied "Burn in is not covered. But it has the features which will prevent the burn in issues." A whole lot of confusion there, right? I wasn't satisfied so I decided to call support.
Phone text agent Devi: I started the convo: "Hey Devi, so there's a lot of miscommunication going around with the G80SD and it's 3 year warranty. Some reps say it covers burn in and some say it doesn't. Does the 3 year warranty cover burn in specifically?" Devi replied "Could you please elaborate when you say burn?" I replied "Burn in is when static images burn into the OLED screen." Devi replied "Just to confirm is there any burn smell or smoke coming from the TV?" (Oh boy) I replied "No, on OLED monitors like the G80SD images can "burn in" into the screen so that the image never goes away. If this happens, will the 3 year warranty cover that?" Devi replied "My bad please help me with the monitor screen picture" (My bad? I thought this was a Samsung Pro, not a Samsung homeboy lol and why am I educating the Pro on what burn in is?) I asked for a supervisor at this point since Devi didn't know what I meant.
Phone text with supervisor Upender: I started with "Does the 3 year warranty on the G80SD cover burn in?" Upender replied "Samsung provides 12 months of warranty from the date of purchase. However, physical damages are not covered under warranty. Is there any physical or liquid damage on the monitor?" I replied "So it's only 12 months not the 3 years listed on the product page?" Upender replied "The warranty is vary from the model to model OR device to device. Your monitor may have the 3 years warranty. But as I stated above, physical damage are not covered under warranty." (They still think I'm talking about an actual burn smh) I replied " Burn in is when a static image burns into the screen of an OLED monitor, it's not physical damage." Upender replied "Could you please send me a picture of the monitor issue?" I replied "It's just a warranty question so I know if I should buy or not but no one is understanding what burn in is. Google OLED burn in." Upender replied "Let me check the information for you." sometime later... "Yes I have checked the monitor website details, and it will come with a 3 year warranty." I said "I know there's a 3 year warranty, does the 3 year warranty specifically cover burn in?" Upender says "Yes, it will cover as stated if not involved by any physical damage. I mean the monitor itself went to defective or burn in, yes it will cover." He's still talking about physical damage and I don't think he understood what I meant.
So at this point I asked for a US corporate number and was given an email. After all that I still don't have a definitive answer and I'm wondering if when people ask about burn in if these reps even know what they're talking about. I'm going to send an email to corporate and we'll see if I get a reply but I'm not holding my breath. My advice is unless it specifically states "3 year burn in warranty" on the product page, take anything you're told with a grain of salt. I'll follow up here if I get a reply from corporate.
I want to say I'm amazed and shocked .... but after doing the same thing with samsung support I'm not. I 100 percent believe what you have wrote above. For my own g60sd purchase I managed to get tech support (not sales, who were clueless what burn in was!!) To state burn in was covered for the 24 month uk warranty and I took a copy of the chat log and had it emailed to m3.
Corpoate willtake time to respond. The deal is almost over. I have no choice but to decide now
Was just told 3 years warranty on any nonphysical damage caused by the monitor to itself.
There's been a lot of mixed answer from people on reddit, still trying to get a clear answer
@kokomugi and you will not. At least will not until the initial pre order sale is over. Suggest you do what I did, contact support chat, take a not of the incident number with chat get tech support to promise you that oled burn in for g60sd or g80sd etc, is under the warranty. Then ask them, or do so yourself in emailing a full copy of the chat log.
Luckily, none of the things mentioned in this video would bother me. LG also makes contradictory statements regarding burn-in warranty and all glossy QD-OLED monitors are suboptimal in brighter rooms. This video convinced me to buy the monitor rather than the opposite.
Samsung is contradictory too, I would wait for the Asus or Dough WOLED versions since they clearly mention burn in, but can't really trust either companies with warrenties.
Dough hell nahhh 😂😂😂
I wonder how bad burn in really is, or if it's something exaggerated by the community
@@luisfontinelles5834 definitely exagerrated, they're still bad don't get me wrong, but the comunity took out everything on them, even in regions where they're not so bad.
it's a beautiful monitor. I'm thinking about it too!! did you buy it?
i dont understand how these new 2024 monitors (ASUS, LG, MSI, etc) dont have USB-C ports??? especially at these premium price's
Good point
I thought Alienwares OLED monitor has a USB C downstream with charging?
Some of them have, like the Gigabyte, MSI, ROG. And you are totally right, this samsung model definetly miss it :S
Yeah it's ridiculous that this doesn't have USB-C. Everyone I know has a gaming desktop and a work laptop. Having a KVM to allow us to go back and forth seamlessly is common sense.
Grateful for videos like this, just learned everything I should consider when shopping for my new gaming monitor! Thank you for all you do and in advance 😁
Cannot wait to get my hands on mine !
I like this review, the cons wasnt all bad for me but there a few that got me thinking better about buying it. I know that content creators like to discuss things related to what they work more but for the point of view of people that buy monitor to game I missed some very important info as Ghosting experience while playing FPS, response time, noise in a silent room, flat x radius screen and so on.
Would love to see more from your channel Jacob and thanks for the nice content.
I have this monitor and it’s amazing. The only thing someone has legit worry about would be if its warranty in general isn’t enough for their liking. On the merits though, this monitor “goes hard” as the cool kids say. Completely happy with it and the colors and blacks and it’s very smooth. I have zero issues with pairing or wakeups or whatever else people use to trash this monitor….its user error folks. Mine wakes up fine, wakes up from pc fine, stays on pc input etc. people just don’t go through settings….
Thanks Jacob for the vid and the heads-up about burn-in warranty update. Can you comment on its performance under heavy light conditions? Given the low amount of nits, I have the feeling that it might not be bright enough for my well-lit room.
Thanks for the review, glad I watched this first 👍🏽
Appreciate the view!
These days, I'm testing an Alienware 32-inch 4K curved QD-OLED, and I'm enjoying it. However, I'm also considering the Samsung S80SD and the new LG 32GQ950. Which one would you advise, or should I stick with the Alienware? I play casual games on PS5 and also use it for productivity.
Just purchased the alienware and loving it... what sells it for me is the dell 3 year burn warranty. Samsung and LG will not cover you if pixels burn
My desk isn't large enough for a 32", much more expensive G8. Would you say the smaller and cheaper G6 is of similar quality to the G8?
Hey Jacob, this is a great review. I have to say though, we live in exciting times and theres so many options to choose from regarding OLED. Samsung isn't the only monitor so whether they offer burn-in warranty or not shouldn't be an issue. Just buy a competing monitor. That said, I don't think Burn-in is a big of an issue with OLEDs as most people make it seem. The risk is so, so low for the average user and burn-in warranty is just a marketing tool that these companies are using to convince us to buy them. How long have we been using OLED TV's that don't cover burn-in in their warranties? That's just my two cents.
Appreciate the input! I haven't dipped my toes on an OLED TV yet but next upgrade I'm sure I will be. As far as the monitor I agree, just get a competing brand. For my case if brands x y and z offer a 3 year burn in warranty I'd want that for peace of mind, especially since I edit more than anything else and almost always have static images up.
@@JacobDarkOfficial Well said. And I have no fear of burning from doing video editing. Burn-in requires a very bright static image for dozens of hours. And with all the pixel shift, brightness limiters, logo detection and panel protect features in these new OLED's, I REALLY doubt any of us will see burn-in unless you actively try to do it. Cheers my friend. Keep bringing those banging reviews. I'm learning a thing or two from how you make your videos 💪🏾🙌🏾
Will do! Appreciate the comments.
it's been known that even 3rd gen qd-oled are prone to burn-in, you can easily check by searching on youtube, monitors unboxed
What picture settings are you using?
Would u still recomend it, as of now i can buy it for 750€ in germany? If not what would u recommend instead ?
From what I’ve read, “Auto” color space in SDR is sRGB clamp. It looks like it’s using true 2.2 Gamma to me, not piecewise like most of the others. But I haven’t measured it for accuracy.
I believe the same Auto setting in HDR mode gives you DCI-P3 or Rec.2020, like HDR would normally clamp to on other models.
for oleds, is it better to calibrate to 2.2 instead of srgb as the piecewise function is due to the limitations of displays back when srgb was made as a standard?
I sort of feel like the softness caused by the monitor antiglare coating acts like natural anti-aliasing in a way. I previously had a miniled monitor with antiglare coating then bought an Alienware 32 inch QD oled and now I sort of wish I had that coating again. I can see direct reflection right behind me and it bothers me.
Can you help me ? My macbook m2 pro only gives 120hz, what to do ?
From samsung chat, along with documented conversion.....
The screen burn of the monitor is covered by the warranty as long as it doesn't have a crack on the screen. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship within the warranty period. And upon receipt of your device, it will be fully inspected in accordance with the terms of our warranty. Warranty excludes cases such as tampered Serial Number, unauthorized repair, physical damage, liquid damage or misuse
Just got this from chat "The warranty for the Samsung G80SD monitor covers manufacturing defects and malfunctions that occur during normal use. However, it's important to note that burn-in is not typically covered under warranty as it is considered a result of prolonged static image display. Burn-in can occur when static images are displayed for extended periods of time, causing permanent damage to the screen." The confusion continues.
@JacobDarkOfficial I agree it's not straight forward at all with samsung. I managed to get a documented log of the call that will cover me. But again, until they clearly advertise burn in warranty, best to get the chat log agreeing it is for cover over 24 months. Oleds do get burn in if abused, like my Samsung phone, under 2 years but shows youtube faint image now. 😠
@@odindave6506 Check the top comment I just pinned if you want a good laugh.
I might buy this one MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED... comes with a 3 year warranty protection for the possible oled burn-in issue.
I've been using an MSI for a bit now and am completely satisfied
are the speakers any good? Can they do Spatial Audio?
I have it and it sounds awesome!
It sounds fine as far as built in speakers go, no on the spatial audio as far as I know
Hi Jacob awesome review. I wonder how bad you would say the matte is? I wanted to buy this monitor but don't know anymore. I don't know why Samsung didn't give us a glossy option like honestly just don't sit near a window or use curtains people!
It's the closest you'll get to glossy with matte so far. Once I got into a game it didn't bother me at all and wasn't an issue. That said opinions will vary and you may not like it.
man im so stuck on what to upgrade to currently 2k 165hz, do I got top of the line oled 2k, 4k oled , or I have a discount which gets me the g6 mini led for 600. Im going crazy trying to decide. I play mix bag of games, lots of fps, running on a suprimx 4080, any help is much appreciated Great Video!!
4080 if I was buying a 32" I'd go 4K for sure.
@@JacobDarkOfficial I went with the sammy 60sd, gonna let more of the new 4ks come out then grab one around my bday in August! Thank you for all you do man!
Enjoy!
Mine coming soon. I wonder what Dex experience is like with a S24 Ultra. I guess i will find out soon.
In Canada, I was told it’s covered for 12 month warranty. (Burn in).
Yet I hear different answers such it’s covered for 3 years.
Check the top comment I just pinned lol
Anyone know if this monitor has PWM? I am sensitive to any flicker.
On their official website, it says that it is Flicker Free.
@@rafaelmathias391 Thanks so much for confirming.
Im looking through to see if you did areviee one the Msi mpgurx. I want a 32 or 34 that has earc for my xbox. Or should i just get the lg c3 or c4 42"?
For me it would depend on the setup as having a 42" on my desk in front of me is too much. I didn't review the URX, did the UPX, but I don't think either can be found in stock.
I would leave WOLED in the past. LG OLED colours are pretty poor imo, unless you get creative. Even then, they're no match for QD-OLED.
Should i get the samsung or asus rog PG32UCDM they both cost the same
With the same cost ROG monitor should win. At least considering it has numerous review, and had lived a bit, so it is confirmed to be a well balanced unit. But it ultimately comes down to how you can control lighting in your room. If you game in a dark room or primarily at night, glossy OLED would be better (So ASUS one). If you have a lot of ambient lighting, or sun, or whatever, you will be better with a matte finish (OLED G8)
In the UK warranty is offered for 2 years including burn-in protection but according to them, the engineers must verify it is burn-in.
Loved the music track in the intro
I have preordered it (Poland) two weeks ago, but so far it was not yet shipped :(
As gen3 oled are getting more common, i hope burn in issues wasn't such a big deal as long as we don't purposely burning it in. Still sucks they didn't cover burn in though
Will you be doing a review of the incoming Acer curved WOLED monitors? I wanted to see how those compares to LG’s own curved WOLED offerings.
Do you have the model numbers?
@@JacobDarkOfficialIt’s Acer Predator X34 OLED (34inch version) and Acer Predator X39 OLED (39inch version). Hope this helped.
Good review, thanks for the honest opinion. I like monitors with the less glossy finish 2:34 like this one so I might deal with the drawbacks just for that alone. Keep those expert reviews coming- they’re a game-changer for viewers!
Will do, more on the way!
I’d love a 💯 clear answer on the burn in warranty. While I’m not concerned about burn in. if the other has it I’d feel stupid buying the 1 that doesn’t.
Does the silver bezel show up when gaming in the dark? It's seriously putting me off.
For me, its the fact that its a $1300 oled monitor and doesn't have DisplayHDR
true black 400 certification. The color profiles is another red flag. Weird on such an expensive monitor
I have a choice. Asus pg32ucdm, lg 32gs95ue, or this samsung ( i got dark room )
The Asus is probably the safest bet if you are planning on using it exclusively in a dark room. The LG has a fan which could be annoying for some people. I pre-ordered the Samsung and the LG, because I want to use the monitor in a bright room.
Is it true this has no eARC port.. I like to use a soundbar instead of pc speakers. I see Alienware has it
It does have eARC.
Is it out yet? I ordered it at best buy Canada, but it has not shipped yet.
It is in the states
Isn't 250 brightness too little?
I was gonna get Samsung g60sd but I ended up getting Alienware aw2725df. If they trust their new safeguard+ and the other technologies, then they must have added 3 year burn-in warranty. these are oled monitors and as customers, our biggest concern is burn-in. if you cannot stand behind the panel you invented, why would I get your product when others can give us 3 years warranty.
Well said
Yep samsung Singapore online store inform me oled burn in is covered.
Is it QD OLEd ?
yes
Is this monitor a QD-OLED?
i'm currently debating on the G80SD Odysssey or the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM
Oh I haven't looked into the ROG, ill have to check it out.
@@JacobDarkOfficial
Please do review it would be awesome
i currently own an Odyssey Neo G8
and i'm looking for a suitable Oled monitor upgrade in the 32" range and i didn't think Samsung had made an oled monitor with such problems although this is the first production batches right?
@@CalyX. It is the first batch and I'm sure firmware updates will happen at some point which might iron out some kinks.
Hi Jacob, thanks for this. Anyway, is this monitor good for graphic design?
Don’t use an OLED at all for anything other than content consumption. You will 100000% get burn in.
@@JoeyGageytI bought ProArt PAVCNV
I can't understand why they don't include Display Port2.1 on a brand new monitor like the G80SD.
Should've included that one lol
If both the alienware QF and this had 3 year warranties, which one would you purchase?
I have to refresh my memory with what the QF offers but since this doesn't have any color profiles aimed at color correction I wouldn't pick it.
Hey man, I really appreciate reviews like yours. You say it how it is and you don't sugarcoat or ignore the issues (big or small). No OLED burn-in warranty coverage in 2024 is ridic! Keep doin what you do brotha 👍
I super appreciate this, more on the way 💪
I would not trust a random CSR to confirm a 3 year burn in warranty. There are threads on Reddit about this exact issue, the problem is some say yes and some say no. Samsung on their website had it with a burn in warranty. I wouldnt go clickbaity personally and just say for a fact it’s not covered when you don’t actually know and it might dissuade some buyers when Samsung most likely announces it is covered. Just my 2 cents
Where on the Samsung site does it say a burn in warranty is included? I screenshot straight from the G80SD page where it only says "3 year warranty" vs other brands who specifically state "3 year burn in warranty" if Samsung employees aren't giving out accurate information someone in training needs to be replaced 😬 If Samsung eventually announces they're including burn in I'll be sure to update.
@@JacobDarkOfficial Yeah sure but I didn't say they currently had it on their website - when they announced the monitor they had promotional specs on the monitor and this was mentioned with a 3-year burn-in warranty, just watch other reviews or look on forum for it. To be honest CSR are wrong all the time and the fact that many are saying Yes and many are saying No should answer your last question
Going to try reaching out and suggest if it is covered they need to state that in writing on the product page to clear up any confusion.
@@JacobDarkOfficial word don’t get me wrong I think Samsung is in the wrong here for not being clear about it. They should def clear it up I think maybe they vary the policy by country but I am not entirely sure tbh 🤷♂️
@@pistol27peteMy latest convo "The warranty for the Samsung G80SD monitor covers manufacturing defects and malfunctions that occur during normal use. What game is this at 6:00?
Had mine for a week and didn't know burn in wasn't covered, not sure what to do or which monitor to go with now.
Yea I'm at a crossroads as far as 32" goes myself
Same here, just ordered one and they're so expensive in Sweden. Our customer service seems to be more educated on what burn in is and they confirmed burn in isn't covered. So I'm on edge if I want to cancel the order and just wait if they release a new warranty statement.
what is the monitor with a screen quality as good as oled (or close to it), but without the durability problems of the oled monitor?
Try miniled
mini-led is the best alternative
Why no usb c
Burn in is likely covered and would probably be a case by case based on other factors. Like Apple, there isn’t any website documentation like for Apple no document on how long they support devices lol.
This is the highest video quality I have seen on TH-cam
Lol I don't think I can compete with channels that have editors, cameramen and super high end cameras
That's really shocking that the connector ports are not fastened in properly, and the power connector that goes into the monitor is not even fully in! I was in process of ordering this but then decided to cancel the order.
Best monitor on the market, straight beast. I’m having a blast
@JacobDarkOfficial i think LG ultragear 4k oled 32GS95UE monitor can be substitute this m8.
Here are my issues. Yes, the input board not only has a lot of give, but the cables do not seat flush with the back of the monitor either.
240Hz and VRR are only accessible in game mode. The highest refresh rate outside of game mode appears to be 120Hz, so there are no steps between the two.
When changing modes, for instance from game mode to "normal" mode, your settings seem to continually be wiped out and reset for no reason. Windows 10 isn't helping by constantly resetting its own settings and defaulting to disconnected and/or powered off receivers that run to a TV.
Game Mode consumes 9 more watts just at desktop, but appears to give off significant amounts more heat: I just got rid of my Pioneer Plasma as I could not withstand the heat anymore, and the 65" LG OLED does not give off this kind of heat even after hours of use! The heat is coming off of the mid-back and screen. Since I am running an air purifier moving air in the room, I can feel it acutely as it swirls into me.
Various options are greyed out with no explanation why or what the requirement is. I switched from HMDI to DisplayPort and "Auto" is no longer an option for me for "Game Mode." Additionally, I do not think Auto actually did anything: the monitor still read the full 240Hz unless this is something I had to manually set in Windows much like HDR (which is annoying too: doesn't my TV auto-HDR?).
I've observed the monitor fail to auto-find the only source on.
I've observed the monitor sit there and repeatedly "come back to life" from standby every 2 minutes, return to standby, come back, until I shut it off after 10 minutes of realizing it would not stop.
I've observed the monitor fail to dim or turn off with no activity and no input. I've observed Windows keep the monitor active, and it failed to dim with no content (desktop or browser window open).
Re-entering the settings or dealing with the heat is really annoying! There is also far more plastic on this monitor than I was lead to believe. I am sensitive to smells and was forced to "air this monitor" with a fan for five days in my garage as, out of the box, it had a noxious strong glue-like smell (I'm certain this is whatever was mixed into the internal PCBs and not actual glue: I find a lot of stuff coming out of China reeks and makes my physically ill, but not all; items smell far less out of Vietnam)
Have you experienced any of these issues?
I ended up sending it back shortly after this video because they only give you 15 days to return and I didn't want to commit without getting a clear and accurate answer on the burn in warranty.
"the heat from my mon itor blows at me cause of my air purifier" ive heard some petty stuff before but damn....
@@dorkknight42 So, that isn't what I typed at all. I've seen people on TH-cam with reading comprehension issues before, but damn... I find it helps to read all the words in the sentence from left to right while noting punctuation.
Power usage and heat output are normal concerns for adults paying energy bills on an ever-warming planet. I do not see the issue with informing the audience here of my experience with this unit. Another TH-camr stated MSI's 321URX does not require a special mode to use the 240hz refresh rate and VRR: it is an oddity that Samsung's G80SD does.
For the serious people here, one thing to note is that the VRR flicker is very real. I can see it even in scenes that are not very dark: for instance the blue of ocean water in an RTS. I applaud MSI for addressing it and trying to correct it via firmware even if that effort was unsuccessful. I am wondering if the months-long dearth of the MSI 321URX QD-OLED may be due to them attempting a revision to address VRR Flicker.
One more thing if anyone else has this problem pop up:
I used an iPhone to perform the Smart Calibration on the monitor and it only calibrates a movie mode (although a separate Eco mode also has "calibrated" appended to it, but only shows up in certain situations, same as the movie mode). You cannot calibrate Game Mode this way. That is not the issue, however: after the calibration the monitor started showing pink 000 in the mid-upper left that would not go away no matter what was tried. The solution appears to be to, with the power on, unplug the monitor and let it sit for a minute, then plug it back in. This resets something in the monitor (settings are saved) and will remove the pink numbers overlaid onto your screen.
How common is the burn in though?
Probably not common if all you're doing is watching TV and gaming unless you play the same game all day with a HUD that's always there. In my case since I do heavy editing and have a lot of static images I need the specific burn in warranty, especially if there are other similar monitors from other brands who offer it for cheaper.
Thanks man! I just bought mine with 25% nhs discounts :)
Buy it from Microcenter and get the 2 or 3 year protection plan and you'll never have to worry about burn in.

I unfortunately bought this monitor. I wanted the MSI 32 Inch QD-OLED instead but not sure when it will become available. So I took a shot on this monitor. I use it as a second monitor on my PC and the gripe I have so far is that once I turn the monitor on, somewhere down the line, the monitor will turn off by itself. I am using Display port not HDMI as the GPU's have only one HDMI connector and I am using that one for my OLED TV [Unless I have a ASUS 4080 Super that has 2 HDMI connectors]. When it does that, I disconnect the power cable and reconnect it back into the monitor and noticed that will stop monitor to shut off. The other gripe I have is when I am looking at sites and or file explorer, the screen display looks like it's bending from the middle and outward. I might as well keep it for now and more likely will get the MSI monitor when it becomes available.
Yea idk what's going on with MSI, nothing seems to be in stock, EVER. Strange problems, thanks for sharing.
@@JacobDarkOfficial Well I put in to be notified to get one on various sites to include MSI acct.
@@Purpledrank39 I should be getting the new MPG 341CQPX for review soon.
You should definitely reach out to customer service about these issues. I have had no such problems on my particular unit. Also using DP
I have the exact same issue. I am going to return it and go for the AW. I get a feeling it's related to the back IO that is so loose
The first 7 minutes of this video very much plays like an AD instead of a review. We want to hear your opinions about specs samsung displayed not just reading samsungs marketing verbatim.
I wish you would’ve covered the odyssey g6. I don't care to have the bigger screen and the g6 doesn’t have some of the same features and such as the g8, but i get it. Most people now-a-days just want the bigger screen and it is what it is, but a 27 inch is the max i’d go when it comes to screen size. A lot of youtubers just cover the top end model which is cool and all but when i try to find reviews for the g6, there’s only a handful and not all of those videos are as in depth as other youtubers like to go so it sucks, but good content nonetheless.
I hear you, I try to cover what I can but it's hard to stay on top of everything coming out so I have to pick and choose. I'll see what I can do.
@@JacobDarkOfficial I completely understand. I did buy the odyssey g6 anyway and I love it. It definitely is amazing and having 360hz is crazy. I personally don't mind the matte screen as I naturally have blackout curtains in my computer room and just have my 2 side monitors connected to an OC RTX 3050 while the odyssey is connected to the RTX 3080.
Nice setup!
had the 34" Odyssey OLED G85SB for a couple of years now and
its a brilliant picture , great with games , same sofware as the new
g80 which can be annoying , on occasion whenstarting pc the monitor
does not start , tried hdmi and mini desplay port and about 3 or 4
firmware but still same ....
not sure if i would benefit any by changing to the g80 ?
would be nice to have a bit more height to the screen .
use mine with Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 7900 XT Vapor-X AMD 20 GB GDDR6...
sweet ...........
I asked a Samsung rep, and it actually does cover burn in for 3 years......so
Bet if you call again the next person will say no it's so hit or miss with them
I personally need to see it in writing or official documentation somewhere.
Ya I called yesterday and they said yes
@@JacobDarkOfficial totally fair.
If it's not in writing, it's not covered. Samsung will screw you over.
Went to store and have a look at it today, it was kinda disappointing with the display colour looks washed out due to the matte coating.
It’s worse than the ASUS ROG and Alienware version.
If y’all worried about burn don’t buy smh. I’ve on plenty of OLED screens up to 77 inches never had burn in.
Just got one with military discount for seven hundred and some change, and 300 samsung credit! Chaaachingggg! Even better part, local best buy has for pick up in 2 hours! We gaming tonight boys!
Damn nice deal!! Enjoy!
@@JacobDarkOfficial thank you for the videos! Definitely helped with my decision
@@xhooligan8898how you like it so far? And are you having any flicking problems 😊
I used $100 of my free $300 gift card to buy a third party warranty. Still got $200 to enjoy after that and a great monitor along with it (though it would've been nice if Samsung was clear about the warranty so that way I wouldn't have had to take such a precaution).
Agreed
Yo man this man has agents of shield t shirt
Salute!
Anybody seeing artifacts when watching TH-camTV or AppleTV?
yes
Will stick with my alienware oled
if you pay attention to the edges, you will see that the picture does not go to the very edge, but has a black frame. It looks disgusting live. I just got it and it is going back.
might I add that samsung's QC/QA is trash, I would steer clear unless you want stress fr
Nearly perfect money
Title : you may not want to buy this
Yea none of these are reasons for me to skip. Samsung is the best monitor because it allows you full control of picture settings in SDR and HDR which no other monitor brand does. If burn in is a concern for you then buy a best buy warranty for 4 years that covers any burn in. I have had oled monitors since gen 1 and none have burned in and I game a ton and use it for work as well.
Good to know. I just want Samsung to state it in writing on the product page at this point instead of telling some people it's covered and others it's not. I'm using a 34" qd oled, my first long term oled and do all the preventative stuff to keep burn in away since I edit heavily, hopefully those static images I have up all day don't become an issue but since I have the 3 year burn in warranty I'm covered just in case.
I bought this one cause everything else is out of stock. So far so good, I love the smart feature as I have an old oled LG TV (2018), this one looks much better. My only concern is the burn in warranty as I also use it for work. Another thing I would like to see in this monitor is the ability to run games at a lower aspect ratio.
good review though
Liked and subscirbed.
Welcome aboard
just order that with the price 845$ in my country. cant say no to it
and asus is around 1600$ in my country lol
Nice price!
For 1.3k, it needs a 10 year warranty 😂
Is thus QD OLED
yes finally a matte qdoled
I would hate this monitor, Matte so worse clarity than QD-OLEDs in dark rooms, and QD-OLED so worse than LG's WOLED in bright rooms. It's the worst of both worlds.
Oof I wish I saw this before I bought it! 😬
Sorry for the late upload 😅
Again, not a single word about the biggest plague of those monitors: VRR flickering. I ordered this monitor today but after seeing videos showing the flickering with G-sync I'm going to return it as soon as it gets here.
Just returned this and got the LG 32”. QD-OLED sucks in bright rooms.
Even with the matte coating? This is supposed to be much better than the other QD-OLED monitors in bright rooms. Unfortunately, the LG has a fan.
@@User-ys7cb I doubt you hear the fan especially if you are using a PC with the LG monitor which has way more fans that run a lot louder.
@@ShawnLangford My PC is not on my desk and the case fans run at a very low RPM tho. My environment is very quiet in general. Even then, I can still hear a very faint noise from the AIO pump. The monitor is right in front of me, so it would really surprise me if I couldn't hear the fan.
@@User-ys7cbYes, while it’s better than the glossy ones the blacks still look grey/purple during day time which is a turn off for me because it defeats the purpose of OLED.
The fan is not audible on my LG.
This and many other reason is why I am no longer buying Samsung products, Their quality control and warranty support is a joke, they charge massive top prices but the release crap products, my I had to send my old G7 back about 3 times to replace the dongle, tons of issues with scanlines with certain colors, the dongle still broken btw they never fixed it properly. Then I bought the Neo g7 and again scanline issues with certain colors plus the service USB port doesn't recognizes any devices now, so can't update the firmware... I am not buying ANY Samsung screens every again, they have lost me forever.
Not sure how I feel about that silver bezel... eww brother eww what's that brother?
It does kind of stick out now that I look at it lol
No burn in warranty no man i will return it 😅
You need to update your pinned comment to add the new description of what they say about the burn in warranty coverage . Under the warranty page it now states
“Burn-In cover in warranty
Burn-in at normal usage covered within warranty.(But, not covered for Commercial, abuse or mis-use).”.
Really Samsung, I have to create an account to use A MONITOR? GTHO with that nonsense.
nice shirt
Ah a man of culture
I’ve had oled tvs and monitors all with tons of hours and 0 burn in. I think it’s really just not that big of a deal anymore
No type c and they want 1300 lol
No 3 year warranty for burn in and matte screen count me out.
6:30 Dat aim tho...
I'm a total casual
