old video i know but 10 bit isn't just for colour banding, when using an 8 bit display if the game or video displays a colour or group of colours that is outside the range of 8 bit colour, the monitor will likely oversaturate the colours in the area making them blend into a single blob of 1 colour

Hi. Very nice review. I’m hesitating between the Alienware AW3423DWF for it’s glossy QDOLED and the neo G8 for it’s 4K. Which one would you pick if you have to choose one ? Thanks !
I made a review about the AW3423DW. I picked the G8 mainly for sheer pixel count and HDR capability. The AW is gorgeous but coming from a 4K monitor prior, the resolution on the AW for me was just too low. I noticed it pretty immediately.

I can’t say I fully understand if Samsung is touting the G8 as having 12 bit color, since they only reference black levels. I haven’t personally used it over HDMI 2.1 so I can’t confirm but even if the control panel said “12 bit” I don’t think you could even tell the difference in color unless under specific conditions. tough choice tbh. i’m not a huge fan of ultra wides but they are super nice. it depends on the software and if the ultra wide will let you use it like 3 displays side by side. for gaming though- I still think 16:9 is the most supported aspect ratio and usually looks best all around.

Great video, been wanting to update my sons’s MSI screen and for his computer (running ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 ROG Strix V2 ) and PS5 gaming. Probably update the graphics card at some point but it’s what they used for his make-a-wish build 2 years ago, so it is what it is at this point. Really the only thing I never liked was the screen. Was thinking OLED but he likes to walk away and leave the screen on for hours until I notice it. So Samsung with epp discount has this display for between $522 to $549 depending on what appears to be time of day. For the price I’ll bite
Valid point. However this is a gaming centric monitor. If I didn’t specifically call out a more generic feature like text quality or video playback it was probably totally fine. and for the G8 it was! text and everyday things look great. nothing to complain about. And yes it is on sale a lot these days!!
If you want HDR and 4k at high refresh rates, this one is it. If HDR isn’t important to you then I think you’ll be able to find less expensive 4k high refresh rate displays. Generally- in my opinion, the G8 Neo has been excellent minus the packaging.
It’s 2000nit PEAK brightness. This means at max it can hit 2000nits but not for an extended period of time. This is not the same as sustained brightness. Similar to power with peak wattage and continuous wattage.
@@XXIVCONCEPT Peak, for a limited time, under certain limited scenarios. It's flat out misleading. There is actually no such thing as HDR 2000. Its Samsung marketing, not a legit spec.
@@insertnamehere4419 no its not ... Asus puts that their oled reaches 1000 nits brightness in their spec sheet. They do not mention that it only reaches 1000nits brights in a 10% window . That is flat out misleading ... this is why reviews are so important
All Mini-LED displays encounter that. I personally am not bothered by the amount on this particular display. Can you notice it in certain scenarios? Yes. But is it enough to ruin your experience? I don't have any scanlines, even around blue buttons at 240hz, so I might have gotten lucky with a unicorn. Again, thank you for the review, I love this thing, def worth the money
@@AzAzrael Amazing!! Glad you’re enjoying it!
@@AzAzraelhow far do you sit from your 32 inch monitor?
@@lx221 never measured it but about 2-4 feet away measuring the distance between my eyes and the monitor
Is the HDMI 2.1?
Dp
@@An_Enraged_Pig He has does it have HDMI 2.1. Which it does
What happens if you set lower resolution like 2k at 240hz ingame, will the scanlines be visible still?
ah good question i’ll have to check!
@@XXIVCONCEPT bro checking?
I have the neo g8 and I want to switch to the new Alienware AW3225Qf
Definitely enjoyed my time with the AW3423DW! If you make the switch let me know how it is!
@@XXIVCONCEPT I will comes out next month so I’ll be ready to buy it and let you know
Why?
Bro quick question, with a 4090 pc build, this monitor could display 240 fps with no problem?
depends on the game and the settings but yes! absolutely. probably not AAA games with ray tracing but esports titles like CS2, Rocket League, League of Legends, or Valorant should be able to top 240 on a 4090.
My 4070ti hits that
The best monitor ever
3080 is still a monster GPU 👊
You can get this around $800 by Black Friday, but no one talks about how is the TH-cam videos or texts looks like all talks about the games
Valid point. However this is a gaming centric monitor. If I didn’t specifically call out a more generic feature like text quality or video playback it was probably totally fine. and for the G8 it was! text and everyday things look great. nothing to complain about. And yes it is on sale a lot these days!!
2:20 psycho. 60fps min.
Seeing lots of bad reviews of g8..it looks good on paper. So idk might need to wait and see...
If you want HDR and 4k at high refresh rates, this one is it. If HDR isn’t important to you then I think you’ll be able to find less expensive 4k high refresh rate displays. Generally- in my opinion, the G8 Neo has been excellent minus the packaging.
Don’t listen to the reviewers, it’s a great monitor
Who actually uses the monitor stand??
It’s a nice monitor but had to return due that aggressive curve .
I love the curve
Curve fye. Ran it in call of duty and had no problems.
It's not, and never is 2000nits. Someone should sue Samsung for making this claim.
Very bias.. what a bout the smearing and blurring?
All Mini-LED displays encounter that. I personally am not bothered by the amount on this particular display. Can you notice it in certain scenarios? Yes. But is it enough to ruin your experience? No. The bias is that I unfortunately am not able to test 10+ displays at once. However I try to be as unbiased as possible while also providing personal opinion.
it aint the greatest because that junk is VA
I believe it’s IPS. But hey, whatever floats your boat. I’ve personally been using it and thinks it’s one of the best I’ve seen. Better than some OLED i’ve tested too. Mini-LED imo is still superior for gaming displays. 🤷🏼♂️
@@XXIVCONCEPT Its mostly the same as the neo g7. VA panel
VA is only viable on high-end and this is a high-end monitor with Quantum mini-LED
@@XXIVCONCEPTMonitor so good you don’t even realise that it’s VA😂
@@Keemochi420 Not sure why they makes it junk but ok. Lmk when you try one.
FUTURE PROOF goated MONITOR

!!!This guy has a cat, doesn’t do cable management, likes motion blur in games, prefers higher resolution over higher frame rate and to top it all of likes glossy finish, my god i love how much i hate him but still liked this video a lot. God fucking dammit!!! 🫠
I’m SORRY 😭🥲 Appreciate you a ton though 🫵🏼😎
