RR Clearing the First Glass Block using VSC

- I clear the first glass block in RR using VSC.
This idea was from PapaQBall (www.youtube.com/@papaqball/fe.... I've executed it, and am now documenting it. Previously, clearing the first glass block during the carpet ride required a bob-omb clip or lakitu bounce. But now we have a new option, which is to use VSC. Specifically, we store vertical speed from a slide kick bounce on the other carpet as it's falling down, and that's enough to clear the first glass block. This may be useful for saving time on The Big House in the Sky 0xA, but that's yet to be determined. - เกม
The year is 2030. Every 0x strategy that required bob-omb clones, precise HOLP setups, pinpoint precise inputs and more have been reduced to simple VSCs. The entire game can now be beaten in 0x by human players.

I'd love to see a "complete" run one day of SM64 XxA, where there's sections that take hours and hours and stuff like this combined together
That's the goal, they're still finding optimizations like this, though, so I'm not sure when they'd want to start a full TAS without it being terribly outdated by the time they finish.
@@vanderkarl3927 since it's a TAS anyway, couldn't they just splice the input sequences for the current most optimized segments?
@@toastr1255 This wouldn't work as the inputs would cause a desync due to things like what RNG seed one set of inputs was performed under vs. another set, and other various things. I'm not an expert though, so I'll let others elaborate on this.
@@comradetab9291 It really depends on the game with this sort of thing. Who knows, maybe you can just splice it with no problems. Only way to know is to try it.

Most of the viewers do not have the know how (or the time and money to learn it to the level of contributing), but are still interesting in the challenge. Is being hopeful for the future wrong????

Isn't this huge for RTABC ILs? It doesn't seem too precise for a singlestar run...
Yeah, this would save 2 A presses, one for reds and one for big house. The VSC has already been done by PapaQBall, and a similar divegrind is used for big house (although this one is a bit tighter)
@@Blobfish_Times Isn't reds already 1xA with a similar slidekick strategy?
@@violetasuklevska9074 The slidekick for RR reds 1xA does get over the box, but it does not activate the carpet. This means you can't get over the next box, but it does let you get to the red under the elevator using a slidekick. Using this new strategy you could get the star 0xA, because the only remaining A press in RTA is to jump over the box to get the rest of the reds

might be useless but would it be possible to skip the second glass platform with VSC from the dive onto it?
Yes! The only reason pannen didn't do it here was because the video was simply showcasing the strat for the first glass box :D
What happens if you clone a star in your hands and collect it at the same time you're collecting another star?

Yes. Pannen did it before and you can collect only one star.
