    I've had G5 27" since last November and it seems good enough. I also had it for a good discount price of 250€ so I can't really complain. When buying this monitor, I knew it wasn't gonna be the best 1440p/144hz monitor there is, but I was on a pretty tight budget. Also, the G5 was actually the only monitor with 1440p/144hz monitor with price under 350€ so I didn't really have much to choose from. And if anyone is interested, I'm from Finland. Thanks for the review.

    i was about to choose this monitor (because looked gorgeus with that agressive curved display, and size), glad i didn't, because of the brightness, i bought the gigabyte g27Q (IPS panel) instead, it has very good bright, handles light perfectly well, the HDR is decent and noticiable, the panel is very crysp, responsive and has very good colors, i couldnt be more happier.

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hi FailGag! Thank you for the feedback. For your monitor choices, I will recommend the Samsung Odyssey G5 over the Asus VG27 due to higher native resolution. With GTX 1060 it can still output most games at medium high settings and maintain a steady 60 fps, and when you do upgrade your laptop, the higher 1440p resolution will be there waiting for you.
      However, the curvature of the Samsung will be more pronounced compared to the Asus monitor, so that's something to keep in mind. Hope this helps ^^

    When not gaming, is there any reason to choose 120hz over 144hz if your video card supports both? Also same for the response time, any reason not to choose the 1ms response time for general usage? Thanks!

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeff _! When not gaming, 144hz on paper will just make "movements" on the screen seem buttery smooth. But with a difference of only 24hz, it is quite difficult for our eyes to really see the difference. I generally will recommend higher refresh rates as the price difference should not be that big of a gap now. As for response time, getting the faster response time will generally be better. This will potentially reduce ghosting effect and in my opinion is quite important if you are doing media consumption such as watching movies.
      But if looking for a work monitor for spreadsheets and word documents, any 5ms response at 60hz refresh will be fine as those will be a lot cheaper :)

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ray! It would take some time after switching to curved screen if you've never used one before. For 1000R curve, it will take about 1-2 weeks to get used to it. Having used both types, I can't really say there is any much difference other than the corners of the screen being slightly closer to your vision and requiring less head movements. But once you make the switch to curved, and then switch back to flat, your eyes and brain will play tricks on your eyes making your flat screen seem as it is folding away from you 😂

      Hi GK Max! I've used this monitor for about 3 months before giving it to my brother who has been loving it since. He said he had no issues with it for either gaming, work, or watching movies. The only slight complaint he had after all this time about the screen was that the max brightness was sometimes a bit too low if he is using the fastest pixel response time. It made it a little hard to see dark parts in dark scenes when gaming during the day when he has all his windows and curtains open as his screen is facing a window. Other than that, he loved everything about it ever since he got it :)

      Yes, up-close the image on the 32" model will look slightly less sharp than on the 27", though 93 ppi is still a decent density. If you'd ever like to sit at more than about 2.5 feet away, the 32" will serve you better.

      Hi mihiryo! The color range for basic editing is fine as long as you don't need the color accuracy of adobeRGB for professional work. @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi George 2009! Depending on your current monitor, I cannot really say if you will be getting a smoother and "prettier" images. As for the pixel response speed options on the monitor, I recommend using the "Faster" setting to avoid pixel overshooting and artifacts if you are not using g-sync/freesync, and also to not sacrifice too much of the brightness and contrast. But if you still experience a lot of ghosting when playing FPS games, then you can switch over to the fastest setting and turn off room lights to still get a bright and sharp contrast image. Though this is based on my preference, so you can try it and then play around adjusting the settings to tune it to your liking. ^^

      Hi Yowhatsupbro78! It could be a defective part that holds the screw in the stand that swivels. It “sometimes” happens when the part is a bit off spec but within tolerance so it wobbles. Not sure if your retailer will let you exchange, but if not, get a monitor arm and it will provide you a lot more flexibility with positioning your monitor. Hope this helps 😉

    hi Edward.
    really nicely put together video. it has helped me a lot.
    I, however, have one question.
    the Xbox series x promises 4k 120fps (on select games and HDMI 2.1 compatible monitors, which can be very expensive.)
    I have absolutely no problem playing on 1440p resolution, but what i wanted to know is that will the monitor support the series x at 1440p AND 120fps together?

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Comrade Cougar! Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you found the video helpful ^^
      As for your question, technically, HDMI 2.0 can support 4k 120hz without a problem, but as I don't own a Xbox Series X, I cannot test to see if it will run at 120hz. From what I heard and read from others who own a Xbox Series X, it definitely will run at 1440p 60hz, but not fully support 1440p 120hz. You can force the settings via the Xbox, but there could be errors and is not garaunteed.

      @@GamersClinic thanks for your response.
      I did a little bit of digging on my own. Some sources say that if you connect a series x to any 1440p monitor (Odyssey G5 for example), it would support 1440p at 120fps. Normally, it would be capped at 1440 at 60fps, but in the general TV settings, if you deselect the allow 4k in settings, then you might be able to run it at 1440p 120fps.
      Apologies if this is a bit hard to comprehend, but if you get the series x then maybe you can fiddle around and understand what i am saying.
      Best case scenario is you verifying it personally...

      @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi jaybie dayy! It's "useable" for console gaming, but in my opinion, I would recommend a TV over a monitor if you mainly game on consoles. Main reason will be because you can get larger display sizes for similar prices and 4K resolution (for modern gen consoles), while this screen is capped out at 2K (which the PS5 doesn't support yet*) and pictures might be as sharp due to not displaying at native resolution.

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi A racecar! The monitor that you currently have is pretty good and slightly better spec-ed, and I wouldn't be considering this as an upgrade for you. If you are looking for HDR, this monitor's HDR performance isn't that spectacular due to the lack of local dimming zones and low peak brightness.
      As for the 1MS refresh rate, the 1MS refresh rate is possible due to VA panel. Though 1MS and 5MS wouldn't make too much of a difference in gaming experience unless you mostly play competitive FPS shooters. So to really consider an upgrade, I would recommend the ASUS ROG Swift series which have better HDR performance and also better refresh rates on the same panel technology. (Assuming the one you have is currently using IPS panel).

    It's very bad and has several issues. The pixel response time is much slower than any standard VA monitor, resulting in significant ghosting. So, those '144Hz' aren't actually real. The black uniformity is poor, and there's backlight bleeding, wasting one of the best features of VA panels. Ergonomic adjustments are limited, too. Spending an extra €50 on a better monitor is a wiser choice than regretting it for years. But everyone can decide how to spend their money. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      Hola veigarad! Sorry I cannot write Spanish, so allow me to reply in English. The version I have is 144hz, but if you use DP cable, it should support up to 240hz for 1440p. Hope this helps.

      Hi Lou Cipher! When I mentioned “while sitting about 2 feet from the screen” this is what I was trying to imply:
      The desk measures at 70cm in depth, and I sit with my body about 10cms from the desk, so the position of my body and head relative to the screen is about 80-85cms depending on how I’m sitting. So In Imperial measurements, 30cms is ~1 feet, so where my head is when sitting is approximately 2.6 feet or 31.2 inches. Hope this clarifies the point.

      @@GamersClinic your desk depth is 70cm but your monitor screen isnt at the back of the desk far end lol smh...its somewhere in the middle
      even if you convince yourself you are leaning back at the chair but eventually you still have to lean front to comfortably place your hands on those keyboard to type with bending elbows, unless if you tell me you type with straight hands from all the way back there lol
      judging by that keyboard and monitor distance i'd say you only have 1ft+ in practical range unless if you have a different desk with further depth

    27 inch or 32? I feel like the 32 one has to low ppi. Any advice?

      Hi rotony1! The 32" at 1440p and 27" at 1440p both appear to be very "clear" when sitting at around 1.5 ft away from the screen. The 32" will have a larger and more satisfying view space when placed at this distance. Though, if you have a smaller table and are sitting a bit closer, 27" should be enough and will be sharper ^^

    I really enjoyed your video! The information was easy to understand and I really appreciate the honest feedback given during the review. Watching other product reviews they kind of spit information at you and give you a /10 review but you did not. I appreciate that you went beyond the statistics with a professional review and recording throughout the video. Thank you for producing content! Subscribed :)

      Hi Christopher Cruz! Thank you very much for sharing your valuable feedback with me. I'm glad that you find my video reviews helpful as I try my best to get as much details and as accurate as I can on gaming related products that I review.
