    Coming from a person that owns a 1440p 27 inch monitor almost 3 years now , (mostly for gaming) , the difference isn't huge but it's definitely noticable . And yes it does make a difference in games . They just appear much sharper and cleaner .

    • @overpoweredjelly3513
      @overpoweredjelly3513 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @Filthy Casual yeah the high resolution high frame rate is not that intelligent. My monitor supports up to 165hz 1440p but realistically speaking , what games can run at this frame rate and is my gpu capable of doing it ? Probably not many . Plus , more than 60-90 frames for most games is pointless and you don't see a difference (expect eSports) . The only reason I went with 1440p 165hz is because I wanted to play both eSport tittles at high frames but also get the higher res for triple A tittles and other games. If you want something exclusively for eSports though, then 1080p 240hz is the way to go. And lastly of you are PS5 or Xbox series X user which again is not worth to buy a monitor like this , just buy a 55 inch or bigger tv to fully enjoy your games

    24" Inch 1080p works more than well if you unsure of what to buy and it's cheap, I been a gamer for years and I used to play with a 60hz 24" screen and competed in all type of games, always been able to reach the best weapons n gear n ranks in all of the games.
    A better screen will help, but it won't you make you much better. It will really benefit players who already is at a TOP tier. So spend money wisely don't buy things you really don't need.

    This is a fantastic review. To the point with no waffle at all. Covers all the bases. Interesting about the 24 inch@1080 too. This is what I have used for a decade (only 60hz though) and always been happy with. However I have had to build a new PC that is med/high end and it could definitely power a bigger higher resolution and frame rate monitor so it is a waste of the PC's capacity to stick with my trusty Dell U2410. It seems that it would indeed be worth splashing out for a 1440 27 inch monitor with higher frame rates.

    A great and informative video, thank you. I'm an old man (60) who struggles with tech yet loves gaming! Just this week I decided to upgrade my pc, here's what I've gone for. Ryzen 7 7800 x3D, 32 GB DDR5, RTX 4070 ti and a 27 inch 1440p, 165 MHz. I couldn't afford to go for a 4k setup so I opted for the next best thing. One thing I took ages deciding was the monitor size, 27 or 32 was my choice. I got 27 in the end because of pixel density and because of my eyesight need to sit a little bit closer to the monitor. I think the viewing distance is an important factor. Cheers 😁

    What David doesn't mention:
    Games and/or the driver change the mipmap bias with the selected resolution.
    That's causing the higher sharpness.
    So you can get a similar sharpness on a 1080p monitor with using a negative mipmap bias.
    Though you shouldn't set this bias too low because you can get moire shimmering.

    I have 27" 1440p, Cyberpunk runs great in 1080p with DLSS with anything from 0.5 to 1.0 sharpening! Looks fantastic, but YES, some games WILL look blurry without the correct settings! You can always add image sharpening from Nvidia Control Panel !

    I picked up a 32" 1440p monitor a few months ago, and find it's a bit too big for the resolution - especially when watching 1080p media. 27" is definitely the sharpness sweetspot.

    My 1080p 144hz monitor has been great the past two years but I definitely want to experience 1440p 144hz eventually when higher end cards get closer to msrp. I just bought a 32" 1440p monitor and it's insane how much sharper the image is (before watching this video). I have some pretty high settings on monster hunter. Own a 5700 xt and it's crazy to see the difference. However i it is using 7.2 of my 8gb vram and gave me a warning. Playing rocket league I noticed some crashes, and I'm wondering if my graphics card isn't up to par with this type of demand. On 1080p im getting 111 fps on monster hunter and when I switch to 1440p I'm only getting 66. Don't completely understand why there is a fps difference other than it must take more power to produce such a sharp image. Great video and definitely left understanding more than I did when i started. Subbed.
