      That would mean zero processed foods. Nestle, gone. Kraft Heinz, gone. PepsiCo, gone. CocaCola, gone. The list of bankruptcies would be loooooong. The world would be a much better place. Hundreds of billions in big money interests don't want -will not let - zero processed foods to happen.

Now, as a morbidly obese 49 ye old man with poor health and type 2 diabetes, I’m opening my eyes and mind to put this stuff to use. I already feel much better from the moderate things I’ve been doing. Lost a couple pounds, my A1C went down from 10.6 to 8.4, and my blood pressure dropped 30 points. I feel hopeful.

Then started eating less carbs, try my best to get 9 hours of sleep a day, try to force myself to focus on things for at least 15 minutes and the list goes on, all because of your videos. I'm now on my 5th day of fasting because of your last video about not eating at all and I lost like 10 lbs already although half is probably water weight but that still means 1 lb a day. I was reading a lot about state of fasting and then you make this video! It's not even a stretch to say you're my life coach and my motivator at this point. My doctor freaked out and said they didn't recommend ketosis as it was dangerous and prob wouldn't work. I went back after 6 months and showed her my 20KG FAT loss. Full blood panel and body/organ checks done. After a week, all results came back fine and I fired my GP. Everybody, ensure your doctor is extremely well versed in nutrition. Fire them if they aren't.

      Doctors are not malicious beings that want you addicted to pills. It’s just that nutrition is almost non-existent in the medical education and, in the states, doctors can be sued if they “prescribe” non-institutionally proscribed treatments (like a Keto diet).

      @Philosophicalpaperti 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@mathieulefebvre7812 not quite sure what point you're trying to make. Obesity is the result of insulin resistance. Low carb and keto diets drastically reduce the amount of insulin in your body. Therefore, you lose weight. It's biochemistry. Also, carbs tend to make you hungry, so eliminating them reduces hunger thereby reducing the amount of calories you're eating without any effort.

A video on posture doesn't really fit with WIL's kind of videos, he tends to explain things that the general public has a low chance of knowing and diving in to the topic using credible research and helping people come to conclusions where as a video on posture wouldn't really fit that since perfect posture is fairly cemented and doesn't need a 10+ minute video backed with research.

It is now well known that the thymus shrinks with age, which is likely why the infants were found to have large glands compared to their adult counterparts, not necessarily from "chronic stress". However, I would be interested to see a study comparing similarly aged stressed vs non-stressed individuals.

    • @Modern-Saint

      Unfortunately your education as a doctor severely limits your understanding of biochemistry. The thymus shrinks due to carbohydrate consumption which also leads to an increase in testosterone levels.
      Testosterone suppresses the thymus, and carbohydrates are broken down into glucose, so when glucose levels are high, insulin levels also increase. Insulin suppresses the thymus, so this is another way that carbohydrate consumption leads to thymus shrinkage.

    If people used their brains they would realise that in a survival situation people can't eat 3 meals a day and drink 3 litres of water and get 9 hours of sleep. Your body is a very versatile machine that can function on very little nourishment. If you don't eat for a few hours or forget to drink that day you'll be fine your body's not going to start eating itself

All my life I had been struggling to find the root cause of my digestive problems, and in the end I decided to reduce carbs to no more than two slices of high fibre bread per day. I consume a lot of fat (olive oil, fat fish) and proteins. The result is spectacular. Never been better in my whole life. All my digestive problems are gone, and my blood tests are better than ever. Think you'll be crawling up the walls with hunger if you go one meal a day? Not on keto you won't! You have to try it to believe it. I work 12 to 8. No breakfast (not hungry). At 4 o'clock I have (a very light snack) two hardboiled eggs or a bacon rash. At 9 o'clock I have my one meal: 300 grams of meat, an avocado, 75-125 grams of cheese and 125 grams of strawberries followed by a glass of dry champagne. At no stage of the day do I ever feel ravenously hungry, only slightly peckish at most. I only drink water/mineral water/tea/coffee during the day or with meal. Best of all I feel highly alert and never feel tired. Only have one or two dumps in the morning and I have ZERO cravings for sweets/bread /softdrink etc. If someone had told me this I would never have believed them. TRY IT !!!

    I have never felt as goof, as energetic, as sugar blood stable (I've lived life with hypoglycemia) as I have since adopting a ketogenic diet. When I veer away and have too many carbohydrates, I feel like absolute garbage. I fall asleep by 8-9pm, I have brain fog, my joints hurt, my resting heart rate increases by up to 20BPM, my skin breaks out with pimples and even patches of eczema, which I never used to have...I just do not feel good on a standard American Diet (SAD. Aptly named.) and I suppose I never did....I just didn't know it until trying keto. I used to be hangry as soon as I woke up and HAD to eat ASAP. Now I prefer intermittent fasting and don't have any breakfast until closer to lunchtime and I feel great! I will always prefer this way of eating now.

      I would always feel very bloated after regular meals, even if those meals were small ones and I would eventually crash. I tried eating 5-7 small meals per day, eating everything "normal". I lost 15kg but after a year of eating like that I started to gain so much fat I was wondering what the hell is going on. Then I heard about ketogenic diet (eating clean) and I've never felt better. Lost 10kg already, little to no muscle loss, also combining the diet with IF every single day, I feel great! My cognitive functions are incredible, I can learn new stuff more easily, no anxiety, no stress. I'm so calm, emotionally stable and energetic. It may not suit everyone but for me it is a perfect diet. PS. I don't have a gall bladder and my body still adjusted after 7-10 days of keto. Our bodies are incredible!

I think it would better if you did look at overall meta analyses and systematic reviews when extrapolating these findings to the general public instead of looking at studies that only agree with each other. Any idea in science must be falsifiable to withstand criticism, including ketosis. One other thing is that ketogenic diets do seem to restrict some prebiotic fiber. In your other video on gut bacteria, evidence is mounting that complex carbohydrates like inulin, beta glucans and fructans provide growth in beneficial microbes. Could you synthesize ketosis research with gut microbes in your next video?

      The meals start looking like normal meals like primerib and broccoli ect like you get in a restaurant.
      And at first you start forgetting to eat at times.
      Still need fiber and protein.
      Followed by periods of chill n water.
      Human made Ingestables all seem to cause damage to the body.

    Before agriculture, humans relied on fat, protein, and carbs and of these three, fat was the most powerful, sought out, and rare. If humans didnt need carbs, they were relying on protein and fat, which was rare and hard to come by in nature because animals prioritize fat, as well. With fat consumption being the most valuable and rare in the wild that meant protein and carbs, yet we didnt need carbs to survive? That leaves only protein being absolutely necessary for survival, with the help of stored keytones. The thing is that keytomes are utilized when there is no more readily available energy from food left and we switch to using the stored fat (keyrones) to sustain until we could eat something. You can imagine how little stored fat people accumulated in the wild thousands of years ago . So you're a hunter gather 200,000 ago. Youre not eating frequenrly enough to have the luxury of storing energy in the form of fat, for future use. So, you only NEED protein and fat to survive, and fat is the rarest and most sought after source of energy in nature, so that leaves protein being the primary source of food energy.(?). Easy, right? Just hunt. Humans arent built for the hunt. We're slower, weaker, and not equipped with claws, canine teeth, and musculature of a predator. So, how did we survive? It wasnt consistent enough to sustain us throughout our existence, so you guessed it, plants and mushrooms provided us the nutrition to sustain between time when food was plentyful. Our ability to digest animals served us throughout our evolution, and this adaptation while once necessary, is no longer. Human anatomy is similar to herbivores, not carnivores. Jaw musculatature and bone structure is not that of carnivores.

      @jg5755 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We were actually scavengers to start with, breaking open bones to access the fat rich marrow, remembering early humans developed during a time of mega fauna, and our stomach acid pH is more in line with carrion eaters than even omnivores at 1.5-2. We are unique among primates in this regard. Herbivores have much longer digestive tracts than we do.

      Old comment I know, but this is why the obesity rate is so high now. This is also why we have so many medical problems such as diabetes and obesity. It is strange to know that someone from the Philippines, where their diet is heavy on white rice (basically, carbs) will stay thin in their country, but blow up when they reach the US. And their chance of getting cancer triples. Dr. Jason Fung was talking about those studies and it was eye opening

    Your videos always interesting to watch. Thank you. I would also like to add something. Now I am studying human physiology of nutrition myself. What I did found is, if we consume fiber rich foods, we can increase the production of short chain fatty acids, that are acetic acid, proprionic acid and butyric acid which is (the butyrate) a preferable energy source for our colon colonocytes and which is later metabolized into a beta-hydroxybutyric acid, a type of ketone body. (my opinion) -> It tells, that eating high fiber diet may support the production of a ketone bodies. And the most important part is, that we like some other animals are fermenters when production of SCFA is available by symbiotic relation of our gut bacteria. Now I also start to think, that fiber purpose in a sweet fruit is not only to provide digestible material for the microbes or improve bowl movement, but also slow the absorption of sugars, that these sugars would have time to ferment into SCFA (my hypothesis). From there comes the big question.. Do we need feed ourself or the microbes?

      Would love to know if you reached any conclusions on this or published any papers since this comment was posted. Gut microbiomes are so interesting to me.

    One thing bothers me with this theory… why can we metabolise dietary glucose then?
    To diversify potential food sources? Okay.
    But if it is not the preferred energy source, why does glucose take precedence over ketones?
    Why would our whole ketosis process stop upon glucose intake?
    Wouldn't we be better off storing this glucose for later and not use it as energy at all?
    I'm wondering :)

    • @ceapy
      @ceapy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The body breaks down glucose first because it takes less steps (less effort and energy required by the body) to convert glucose into usable energy (ATP).

    • @memesensei3330
      @memesensei3330 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Because you eat it, it gets digested and rises your blood sugar. Blood sugar rising unchecked will quickly kill you, so insulin must be pumped out at all costs to lower blood sugar to stable levels and save your life.
      And then insulin facilitates storing those sugars as fat. And only once insulin is lowering can you start burning fat again.
      The body has evolved to run off of fats and protein, while sugars were something of a rare treat that wouldn't cause problems if only eaten occasionally in small amounts. It's only been in the modern farming and now the much more recent industrial food production that sugar has made billions fat, sick, miserable, diseased and dead.

    • @Gengh13
      @Gengh13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Alcohol has a higher metabolic priority than glucose, does that mean that we should all be living from alcohol?
      As others said higher levels of glucose in blood cause problems, and it's inefficient to store glucose, it takes a lot of water and is not as dense as fat, that's why we have small glycogen reserves, compared to fat.
