Thanks, Dr. Ekberg, for another brilliant explanation of MCT Oils and how our bodies work! This week it is exactly 1 year since I started my journey adopting a LCHF lifestyle and dropping my BMI from 40 to 23.5 by only changing my diet. I have since started going to the gym and allowed myself to increase my protein and carb intake with the objective to gain some muscle mass to increase my metabolism. I'm pretty impressed that I (58yrs) is able to keep up my gains my 16 year old son and I'm actually sculpting muscles! My strength has increased on average 35% over 12 weeks. I gained approx 5kg and even if this isn't all muscles I haven't been too worried about that. I did let myself go over the holidays not restricting carbs for 14 days eating all the commercialised Christmas junk... I have previously only allowed myself only 1 "carb day" per week so this has been a bit of an experiment on myself to learn more about how my body works. To no surprise I have gained another 5kg! So this video couldn't have come better timed for me. As I returned to carbs I found myself always hungry and snacking a lot! Also very difficult to control how much I eat as I don't seem to get satisfied on carbs! It is truly like the hormones that regulates ones hunger doesn't work! Now after a 48hr fast and 3 days of Keto I'm back on track, all the hunger and cravings are gone like magic! Last year when I discovered how easy it actually was for me to lose weight I targeted losing 50kg. This year I'll be discovering the gym so it's going to be interesting to see where this journey takes me!
Thank you RTTGuy45. Congratulations on your awesome results, and congratulations on your "insight" after your little "science experiment" over the holidays. You are confirming everything that I talk about and you have the wisdom to stand back and observe what is happening. Great stuff.😄
Like a lot of people, I slipped over the holidays with too many carbs and needed something to get me back on track. As always, Dr. Ekberg presents practical information in a very easy to understand format. The biochemistry and the organization of the complex systems of the human body are truly amazing.
Can you please do a video on how to break a fast? What to eat and what not to eat when braking a fast if you're on a Keto diet. I really like your videos, they're very informative and easy to understand. Thank you.
Just break your fast with what you normally eat which on Keto is low carb and higher fat (now I prefer unsaturated from nuts and avocado etc, instead of saturated from meats and butter)
Boy oh boy do we as a society need more physicians like Dr. Ekberg. Can you imagine a world where every doctor tells us the pure truth of what our bodied are all about and what it actually needs to thrive? This man is a God send. LISTEN UP EVERYONE! Thanks Dr. Ekberg.
I recently learned to never reheat cold coffee w/MCT oil in a microwave. I did lose about 2 ounces of skin from the roof of my mouth though, which counts as weight loss.
Sooo glad I finally found answer to reheating the coffee (unintended consequence I would have never expected). Was more concerned with changing the benefits by reheating. Thanks for taking one for the team 😃
This is super helpful. Very well explained and presented. Thank you! I've been on a high fat (80/20), low-carb (20 grams of carbs or less) carnivore diet for 5 weeks now, but as 52-year-old woman who is menopausal, insulin resistant, pre-diabetic, and 30 pounds overweight, I've had trouble getting into ketosis, and had trouble losing the fat (4 pounds in 5 weeks). I've done diets like these before when I was younger, and the weight just FELL off of me. Put one teaspoon of MCT oil on my steak this morning (which I ate with a good amount of butter). That was just an hour or so ago, and I can already feel the effects of elevated ketones. It's not showing up yet on my urine ketone test (my understanding is that it takes a couple of hours to show up there), but I feel confident that it will. I'll do another teaspoon of MCT oil this afternoon, and another one this evening. Finally I feel confident that I'm going to get this weight off, lower my blood glucose, and improve my insulin sensitivity, as well as reap all of the associated benefits. Hooray!
After my first 3-weeks keto, my blood ketones were only 0.2 - 0.3 (I was prediabetic and insulin resistant). So I supplemented daily with both MCT and BHB for 2-weeks. After than, my morning (unsupplemented) ketone levels rose to 0.8 - 1.0. I've heard that getting the body to make ketones doesn't take too long (days), but getting your body to fully utilize them as fuel takes longer (weeks). Adding the supplements for a brief period getting started is like adding kindling to get a log burning, then once the fire is burning it will sustain itself.
I took a small container with me and put some on whatever I ate. It doesn’t smell or taste. Just be aware if you do too much when you are not used to it it can cause diarrhea. Start with 1 tablespoon and go up from there.
@@HerroYuy246 The oil I use is roughly a 9:5 ratio of C8:C10 - - 14g per tablespoon. I worked up to a dose of 1-Tbsp every 4-5 hours, 3x/day ... so, about 3-Tbsp over 12-14 hours daily. Now days, I'm doing one week on, one week off of that dosage while doing a ketovore 16:8 diet.
@ForestLover took me 3 weeks for Ketones show up significantly in urine dipstick for me. Don't use MCT as much now and dropped the butter for bulletproof coffee too.
Great explanation of why to take mct oil. I’ve been watching dr Boz, and buying her MCT caps. His explanation makes understanding the benefits much better
Doctor Ekberg is very good at explaining how our bodies function. I am trying to beat my pre-diabetic condition. Thank you doctor Ekberg for your service.
I just started keto yesterday and I’m definitely in the keto flu phase. But that’s ok. Because I’m perimenopausal, just low carb wasn’t cutting this new weight that is fighting to accumulate. I’m already an apple shape so I really have to fight extra weight around my middle. I just purchased some MCT for coffee (vanilla flavored) in leu of cream and it helped me enjoy black coffee. I’m just glad that something is working during this flu process because low carb is no match against malicious, female hormones! 😉 I needed to being out the big guns with keto and IF. Oh, I hope it works! 🤞🏼
Hi Dr.Ekberg. Thank you for your fantastic videos . You assured me that my life style is correct after all. I was not a breakfast person since I was teenager and I always have been told that I am wrong and I should have breakfast because is the most important part of daily meal but I noticed that I gain weight when I have breakfast even for short period of time. I found your videos randomly on TH-cam recently and I’m glad it happened. I watched almost all of them and twisted some of them. I never believe in diet and I never went on a diet. I’m almost 58 years old women and I’m healthy. I was carful of fat because of the wrong information but I started to try your way ( low carb , high fat , and fasting) is almost ten days and I feel so good already. Thank you so much.
Extended fasting worked well for me. I found it easier than intermittent fasting, when I was getting started. You DO have to get over the addiction hump for the first few days. I did this before I went keto, but I couldn't keep the weight off until I went keto in between fasts. After losing most of the fat, extended fasts are only occasional and not nearly as long (two-to-three weeks then.)
Dr Ekberg please do a video on menopause and the resultant loss of fat burning capacity. I was skinny all my life no matter how or what I ate. Since menopause it’s taken me 10 years of yo-yo dieting till finally discovering the sustainable weight loss success achievable with keto & IF. But even then, I have to be soooooo careful. I can still gain weight very, very quickly & easily. I basically have to stick to OMAD or I’m in trouble haha. So you see the big eater has had to train herself to, on the contrary, now eat very, very little & mostly only once a day :( So many mature-age women, who may not know about “the right foods” & eating style etc., are suffering in silence (as is often the case with women). There is no information or public awareness about this very disheartening, discouraging issue!
Doc, great breakdown on MCT oils and how to select the best. I’ve struggled getting into deeper ketosis and MCT in my morning coffee helps me; I feel better, more alert and I avoid sweeteners. Also, as you stated in your video it doesn’t spike blood sugar and this is why I feel I get better ketosis results
Hajile Serpud not exactly. But coffee may trigger cortisol and cortisol makes your blood sugar level high by triggering insulin. So i think people with type 2 diabetes should avoid caffein. It is a personal opinion, that may help. But you can make your own research anyway. (And excuse any mistake, english is not my native language)
MCT oil really works, especially if you’re having problems cognitively. However, it does sometimes cause stomach pains. Just a heads up. It’s quite uncomfortable, but it doesn’t last long.
This Doc. Looks really in great shape!! Physiology One on One!!! 🙌 the explanation gets to even to those we do not know much biochemistry! Thank you Doctor 💪
Fantastic. I've been on Keto for (4) months = -36 lbs. The last (4) weeks, I've been lowering fats & and conservatively raising healthy carbs = carb cycling. I love IF and want the benefits of autophagy but don't want to lose more weight. Training my body to recognize ketones for energy is fantastic. Loved this video. Thank you ❤.
Absolutely grateful for your gifts and wisdom you so graciously share. You are brilliant and have the ability to take complex bodily processes and break things down into easily understandable
Nearly all cancer starts in the mitochondria...researchers put a damaged nucleus in a normal cell, and the cell remained normal. They put damaged mitochondria in a normal cell, and the cell became cancerous.. I would love for you to do a video on this..
I was great at chemistry when I had teachers who explained both with words and pictures. I aced my GCSE but then did not do well later due the exam throwing in Molecule Chain Creation as a blindside as it was not even taught as part of the syllabus/by my good teacher but if I had Dr Ekberg as a teacher I would have passed with flying colours based on just logic from how he explains the composition of fatty acids in a health video! Having watched many of these videos among other health advisors regarding Keto/IF I have figured out where I have been going wrong and am unable to lose stubborn fat even after lowering carbs (I love fruits, banana, honey, green tea, coffee so these easily spike my glucose/insulin = I have cravings, crash via food coma & slip out of Keto/lose benefits of fasting). Will now implement everything I have learnt and over long term get back to healthy and slim me. Thank you for these videos.
We love you Dr Ekberg! My mom has dementia and is 82. MCT oil is restoring her brain!! I give coconut oil and MCT oil twice a day. I may go three times a day! Quite impressive results!

Wonderful lecture, as all the others I’ve seen! I’ve been on keto for over 8 mo now and I’m taking 1 tsp of a 99% MCT coconut oil - no OGM - non hydrogenated as my preferred fat with my vitamin D3 and resveratrol supplements daily. I think it works great.
Thanks! I've been wondering about this, and about if MCT oil gives a sort of false sense of ketosis insofar as the boosted numbers aren't a result of the body burning fat. Going forward I'm only going to use it on the days I need to boost my energy. Thanks again for always giving us thorough explanations of how things work. I watch a couple of other channels for this content, but yours was the first and also my favorite.

Just break your fast with what you normally eat which on Keto is low carb and higher fat (now I prefer unsaturated from nuts and avocado etc, instead of saturated from meats and butter)
A large dose of KFC will work best.
Boy oh boy do we as a society need more physicians like Dr. Ekberg. Can you imagine a world where every doctor tells us the pure truth of what our bodied are all about and what it actually needs to thrive? This man is a God send. LISTEN UP EVERYONE! Thanks Dr. Ekberg.
Excellent delivery! Just watching and listening to you promote health. You are so humble, i call you The Humble Lion.
I recently learned to never reheat cold coffee w/MCT oil in a microwave. I did lose about 2 ounces of skin from the roof of my mouth though, which counts as weight loss.
Ouch!
Welcome to the club
Sooo glad I finally found answer to reheating the coffee (unintended consequence I would have never expected). Was more concerned with changing the benefits by reheating. Thanks for taking one for the team 😃
Why? What happens?
😂🤣😭😂🤣😭 sorry but that was funny
Hooray!
You reeled me in with - “Not waste money!” 💁🏻♀️😂👏🏼
I learnt so much about the proper use MCT oil from your video, it was excellent! Thank you !
Excellent teaching video. I drink mct 8-10 regularly. Easily available on Amazon, just read the label first, many brands include the 12. Thank you Dr.
The pictures and animations are really helpful to remember and understand the information!
Thank you Lauren R. I really appreciate your feedback. I do my best to illustrate the concepts and then my editor does a great job adding the B-roll.😄
How much MCT did you add?
How do you measure the ketones daily?
A person can't get a more clear explanation of MCT than this. Helps a bunch. 👍
I tried MCT oil, but could not tolerate digestive issues from it. I now take MCT oil capsules with greater results. Never hungry.
He's on point. My go to guy for keto info.
CRISTAL CLEAR!!! You could not be more clear than that! Thank you Dr. Sten.
I needed to being out the big guns with keto and IF.
Oh, I hope it works! 🤞🏼
Make sure to have more salt because you will lose fluid and electrolytes. The salt will help keep the balance.
Dr Ekberg & Dr Eric Berg... Mind blown
Hi Dianne
Check out Dr Eric Berg's video on
*Manopause* pre & post
Hi Gabrille
So sorry, I just got u name wrong earlier on
@@zubygasamuels1932 No worries! Thank you for replying 🙏🏻
Menopause doesn't make gaining weight a requirement. Most women blame menopause when they are insulin resistant
I use mct to pump my energy during training while fasting. Super helpful
Thank you Cabby. I really appreciate your feedback. I'm happy to hear about your success.😄
I have Type 2 Diabetes... is plain coffee with no sugar or sweetener bad for me ?
Hajile Serpud not exactly. But coffee may trigger cortisol and cortisol makes your blood sugar level high by triggering insulin. So i think people with type 2 diabetes should avoid caffein. It is a personal opinion, that may help. But you can make your own research anyway. (And excuse any mistake, english is not my native language)
I was told not to drink caffeine tell an hour of being awake.
My doctor told me not to do the Keto diet because of my GFR is 66.
Why did I never know this!? Doctors just like to cut you a Rx. Thank you for this video
You are a great teacher, u a blessed sir Amen
the best video that i saw in this year 2021 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👌🏻👌🏻👋🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👋🏻👋🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
MCT oil really works, especially if you’re having problems cognitively. However, it does sometimes cause stomach pains. Just a heads up. It’s quite uncomfortable, but it doesn’t last long.
Can mct cause bloating and or constipation I get this soon after starting on it?
@@tammystempky5709 only if taking too much, start 1 tablespoon daily max then gradually increase but too much for anyone definitely will upset tummy
Out ot all the videos I have watched you don't contradict yourself and are extremely knowledgeable. Thank you
You make it so easy to understand. Thank you for sharing ❤
Instead of food or exercise binging I am binge watching Dr. Ekberg 🥰🌱♥️😁🌿
me too!
Nearly all cancer starts in the mitochondria...researchers put a damaged nucleus in a normal cell, and the cell remained normal.
They put damaged mitochondria in a normal cell, and the cell became cancerous..
I would love for you to do a video on this..
Thank you Bb Said. I'll look into it.😄
I think it was work done by Thomas Seyfried
I really like your logical organized delivery. Screenshotted your key points! Taking MCT now.
Will also experiment with intermittent fasting.
Thank you!
Thanks Dr. Ekberg. Would be good if you could discuss in one of your sessions the pros and cons of MCT vs Extra Virgin Olive oil. Thanks again for your excellent videos.
Thank you doctor!
That was a really good explanation. You make me feel smart because I "get it." Thank you. You are quite a gifted teacher.
Thanks
Thank You @imagineifyoucould so much for showing your appreciation and supporting the channel, and for helping me get the message of health out to the world. 🙏 🏆 😄
One of the best videos on this topic.

Thank you The Revd Dr Ruwan Palapathwala. I really appreciate your feedback. 😄
Dr Ekberg, I have watched all your presentations and have learned a lot about health and benefited from them. I am Looking forward to learning from your future presentations. Thank you. (Melbourne, Australia)
Wow, St Ekberg is amazing - he explains things so well and as a visual learner I LOVE the digital chalk board! This is the best explained video I have ever seen on MCT! I've subscribed and am so happy I found him!
Danke für die wunderschönen Videos
Danke amer Al Gayar. Sie sind herzlich willkommen.😄
I'm almost ready to move to Cummings GA to visit his clinic. It would have to be long term. 71yrs old.. working past 4 yrs to try and get my health back. Will need a place to live, a driver and a in home health care " helper ". All this is a pipe dream. I'm tired of being sick.. I've fired all my doctors save one. Will probably never get better and my husband's getting dementia. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good morning. I always look forward to the Friday Dr. Ekberg videos.
Thank you De None. I really appreciate your feedback. 😄
Dr Sten has an INTEGRITY whom u can TRUST❤
Watching this drinking my coffee with MCT oil in it.
I finally understood MCT oil, this was great. Love your videos and I'm learning so much. Thank you!!!
I think I need some of this to get me back on track after all the Christmas gluttony..
Swedes are always straight up and no nonsense,,, tack Dr. Ekberg, du ar bast
THANK YOU Dr. Ekberg. This video is sooo helpful!! I needed clarification on this.
Could you also speak on people using caprylic acid caps instead of MCT oil? Always happy to learn another breakdown from your channel! Just made a post about MCT oil in my coffee and how it helped me drop weight this year. There's so much out there to help with weight management NATURALLY! Good luck 🙂
Hello pretty how are you doing today 💖
@@walternicolas6927 Hey handsome what that mouth do
You explain so well for all of us to understand
This was a PERFECT explanation and really filled in the gaps of my full understanding of how MCT works. Thank you so much Dr. Ekberg!
Hi Dianna
Check out Dr Eric Berg's videos on *Manopause* pre & post
Absolutely amazing information that no one teach you on this earth
Excellent presentation Dr. Thank you.
Thank you Manny Radzky. I really appreciate your feedback. 😄
Extraordinary presentation 🙏
Thanks for the information , My second language is English. Thank you for speaking English slowly and very clearly. Great video
Yay!! Thank you sir for this video, been waiting for it 👏🏼🎉!
Thank you Denise A.. I really appreciate your feedback. 😄
A simple yes or no would be awesome
Excellent video. The detailed info really helps to understand. I wish you had mentioned several brands of MCT that fit the requirements you stated. There are so many available it would be nice to benefit from your research. I’m not able to go to Costco. Thank you very much. Really benefit from your work!!
I got my first bottle at Grocery Outlet. Worked great and price was affordable.
Hearing you explain the way the body works …I’m in awe of what an amazing God we have the knitted us together so perfectly that everything works together. A beautiful system working in harmony . Thank you God! Thank you Jesus! 🥹

Outstanding presentation that a laymen can easily understand, yet detailed in the full metabolic analysis. Great graphics also to back up the discourse. They only part I was wanting was the best time to use MCT oil. Thank you for the work you put in and for the information you provided.
It helps me. Removed all natural sugar substitutes. Take maybe a teaspoon in my coffee.
Watch at 1.5 speed. You're welcome
Agreed. He’s a slow talker.
I watch at 2x. Even better
Keep your opinion to yourself.
Wow your explanations are the best thank you and all your examples!
Hi Dr Sten Ekberg, always anticipating your informative videos
Happy to hear that!
Thanks!
Dr. Sten is the boss of the keto diet. Don't listen to anybody else. He has every video you need.
You better not let dr. Eric Berg see this post because he might put a hit out on you 😊
I love the casual style of Jason Fung..He makes it easy and simple.
