I have both, ecu flash and bazzaz. Initially thought to go one or the other. Then dyno tuner recommended both. More torque and responsiveness from combination. Smoother also, from eliminated restrictions. 05' ZX10R. Thanks for posting!

From what I have been told is that a ``custom`` ECU flash with the bike set up on the Dyno during installation is the best all round solution. This as opposed to mailing off an ECU for a standard flash for your bikes mods. Its a little bit more expensive, but it brings out the best in the bike. My 2008 R1 with three quarter exhaust and filter made 170.4 HP at the wheel and 82.58 lbs of torque. This was done on a notoriously stingy dyno and of course does not incl Ram air effect which is worth about another 8hp at speed. My previous R1 with similar exhaust set up and PC3 made 165.5hp and 79.5 lbs. Stock Euro bikes typically make 158-162 rwp and 76lbs . Biggest difference over stock was the much nicer spread of torque, general drivability and removal of Yamaha`s first and second gear 60% power restrictions in first and second gear. That was via the ECU flash. The PC 3 was great too, but of course can not alter any of the bikes electronic settings.

Better have a smooth running engine than jerky O/I behaviour which also takes it's toll from the other mechanisms. Clutch, chain, pinions engine internals... without mentioning the unsafe power delivery if you happen to come across a slippery part of the road while cutting throttle or opening up...

Definitely flash. Especially the Ivan flash. Fuel tuners do just that and some can make minor timing changes. A good flash smoothness throttle, remove factory cutoffs, remaps your timing ALOT. And even let's you chang your fan temp controls. No question flash is always the answer

I picked the FTecu bike harness and just used power commander maps. Supper easy to install all you got to do is plug in 3 wired to the bike ECU harness and make sure you find a good 12.v ground for the ground wire. I like the engine breaking so I left that on but I lowered the temps at witch the fan runs at max to keep the bike nice and cool at stop lights on a hot day and its never been higher then 190.F since.

A few things you said were a little bit off. You don't have to remove your ECU to flash it. You can do it at home with your ECU still in the bike. All sorts of programs are available depending on your equipment. A lot of them are available from places like FTECU.com. You can also have a professional custom flash your bike. The same is true for a Power Commander. On newer bikes you can adjust all sorts of settings within the ECU. It doesn't automatically cut off your engine breaking. That's up to the owner of the bike. A PC and ECU working together is actually the way to go for high performance.

Stupid laws over in Australia state that for Restricted Open riders, we cannot exceed 150kw per ton power to weight ratio... and the MT 07 is already a bees dick off being over that. So having a tune could void my warranty and insurance if I have a crash. The only way to prevent that is to go onto an Open license, which requires another $300 riding course.

Or another of looking at it is they would rather a 17 year old with no experience not go out and jump on an R1 and kill himself in not time due to crazy power to weight with no skills, truly a recipe for disaster. A year is a reasonable amount of time to gain some road craft before riding a weapon.
It is a lot better than before when there was 250cc limit. Kids went out and bought RGV's , RZ's and KR1's which while being fantastic bikes, they were also not good bikes to start on due to the power delivery of these bikes. It's now more about linear power that is easier to control so you can buy up to 660cc with power to weight of 150kw per ton or less.
As far as the MT 07/FZ 07 is concerned there are 2 versions, a restricted and a high output model. The restricted version is sleeved to reduce capacity from 689 to 655cc. On the street there is not a lot of difference as while the high output version has around 78 rwhp and the restricted version has I believe around 42 rwhp the restricted version is pretty close in torque output and that torque is tuned to come in lower on the restricted so in effect it's not really slower at normal speeds, will be noticeable at higher revs however.
The restrictions are throttle via a dog leg section on the throttle body which restricts the travel, this can be easily replaced. A airbox restriction which reduces air intake, this can be dremeled out and 5th and 6th gear are limited to i believe around 6000 rpm in the ECU so a flash is required to remove.
DA2THFA1RY - As well as getting an open class license you would also need to re register the bike as non Lams and once this is done it can never been downgraded back which will affect resale of the vehicle given the market is a lot bigger for LAMS approved bikes, also as you state no insurance, cops catch you you're gone as well if they wanted to be really picky and have your bike examined at the pits. Wouldn't however void your warranty unless Yamaha can show the mods you have made are the cause of the claim.
All in all though this bike is i believe the current bang for your buck champion followed by the even more mental mt 09/ fz 09. Anyways be safe people and live to ride.

I'm a dyno tuner, not a dyno operator the difference being I know what changes work and what little tweaks work or don't. A dyno operator simply does what the software tells him to do! Anyway I'm completely against flashing a ECU. Reasons being, one - no two bikes are the same, we have proved it with two bikes built one after the other and running exactly the same spec and almost the same miles, but when set up on the dyno we had two different maps one for each one, both making within 1-2HP difference. Two - ECU flashing is just hacking into a ECU, we know how much we hate hackers! When a ECU is just hacked the person doing the hacking just breaks into a small layer of the code and doesnt know the full extent of the code he is playing with. So a small tweak here to change the AFR value could also effect something somewhere else. We are seeing this time and time again and for example auto blip functions are added in a flash to a bike that doesnt have that function. Then the auto blip goes wrong and doesnt shut the bike down, instead it opens the gas and drives the bike and rider into the corner and disaster. We saw this at Laguna Seca earlier this year and at the NW200 with John McGuinness and various other riders in British Superbikes. A add on fuel module sure they can go wrong and break leaving you stranded but so can any part on your bike and its far more likely for something else to fail than a PCV.

On the other hand, someone who truely knows the ECU to reprogram, he can optimise it better, throughout. Especially on older bikes where PC isnt able to do ignition.

I went with the ECU flash, why? Because it does things a power commander can't, It remapped my fuel like a power commander with pre settings, controls my timing, lifts the speed limiter, raises my rev limited by 500 rpm, also for my bike there is a safety feature in 2nd and 3rd gear wear throttle is controlled by the ecu and will not to go quite full bore, so that is restriction is removed. I do want to say once you flash your ecu the bike is for a road coarse only and is illegal to ride on the street, I don't know if I crashed the bike if they would check for this but I have been warned by a tuner here where I live, he would only do a power commander and would not touch my ecu. My bike is still in pieces but when I get it all together I will let you guys know how I feel about the ecu flash, my friend has the same bike I do and we are eager to race to see which one is better. um, you can import maps from a power commander into the FTEcu software. I bought an FTEcu flash kit for my bike and I don't even have to take the ECU out to make changes. I also bought active tune which monitors air to fuel ratio and it makes corrections the fuel maps while you drive. You can also have it learn so it applies to changes to your base maps while still making changes as conditions around you change. If you are afraid of making changes to your maps then depending on the exhaust you get there are maps tuned for that exhaust. I have a Graves full titanium exhaust and loaded the Graves fuel maps and my active tune monitors and adjust while riding. A setup like isn't cheap. Graves and Yamaha go together and the quality of their parts are on par if not better than Akro exhaust, at least when it comes to putting them on a Yamaha. If you want cheap then go with a PC and a slip on from any one like Yoshi, M4, just stay away from anything from Two Brothers Racing.

Dont bother with a 2nd fueler idea..Go direct with flash...There will be a small info delay with a secondary fueler..Flash allows a tuner do make huge changes over a fueler, which is now a possible added part to mess up....If you see alot of updates in oerformaces parts in bikes future, buy the kit which allows you to make your own maps for all conditions...Ex of one of the best kits to do all your own flashing is woolich raceing kit........Oh and with a secondary fuel deal like power commander, just changeing the fuel map doesnt mean it benifits your bike...Its a fuel map from joe blow who may live in another country with a dyno guy who did a poor mapping on a really dry or damp day, different altitude n such...So for me,i bought the entire flash/tune kit from woolich for my bike..

Dude you are talking bollocks. With a power commander you can add fuel to the 0% throttle column in the table to tune your engine braking. I did this on a dyno.

I don't get why in the US you are calling the MT series FZ... It doesn't make any sense since MT means "Master of Torque". Calling it FZ is getting rid of the bike's soul. About the flash/PCV, you should do both. 👍👍

Yamaha decided for you and now FZ is called MT, even in the US.

    • @candyman190
      @candyman190 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Motos et Potos The FZ is still the FZ and the MT is still the MT. The difference between FZ and MT is that the MT has a little more power than the FZ. The reason they call the MT and FZ same bike is because they practically are with the exception of the amount of power they output.

“As announced at EICMA today, the MT-09 and MT-10 carry different names for 2018 but are otherwise the same as they were in ‘17. The MT-07, however, gets a few updates. Yamaha reworked the bodywork, mildly changing the look of the tank, tail, radiator shrouds, front fender, seat, and headlight. The headlight has a slightly pointier look similar to the previous FZ-09’s setup, and the seat now extends around the sides of the tank, adding 30 percent more area for riders to move around on. Overall, the makeover gives the MT a more aggressive, sportier look.”

If you want the best performance possible..BAZZAZ.. stores 2 Maps. + AFI To DYNOTUNE.. YOUR BIKE to the best it can run .. all the rest are street mods

I agree, plus the Bazzaz uses all 8 injectors on liter-bikes out if the box. PC requires secondary module.
