I can now see if my pc3 is set correctly or not cause I just bought my first bike and am seemingly having a fueling issue. 2006 gsxr600 and it's breaking up a bit and backfiring after about 30 miles. Could be bad gas, could be pc3 map could be this or that... Thanks for your content so I can eliminate one of the possible issues

Just a tip, you mentioned micro usb, you actually need “Mini USB”. Micro is a different shape.

I also said it was the same cable used to charge a ps3 controller. So you see how dated this video has become lol

Ok I know it's almost 3 years late, but:
All Power Commanders will keep the current map until you change it. Doesn't matter if the battery is disconnected. Copied this from the Dynojet FAQ page:
"If I disconnect my battery will the Power Commander lose it's map?
No, all Power Commanders utilize a nonvolatile memory (it does not require constant power to maintain it). The only way a map can be “erased” is to use a computer to load a new one in place of it."

@@SnowDrift picked up an RC51 SP1 all my other bikes dont need tuning n such a way that i need the PC3 but i have already made a map from the current 1 on the bike and tweeked it thanks for the help and advice, was just a minor low rev chug i needed gone

got me an shady 06 too. the bike has a full exhaust and k&n filter but the map that came with it was backfiring and running lean. upon checking out the map it clearly says stock exhaust stock air filter. im hoping when i test it tomorrow it will be better

SnowDrift did everything in the vid and when i open up the PC file and plug my power commander to the laptop it says the serial number and below it says device not communicating? Any idea?
RANDOMOTORIDEZ possibly the cable, may also be the USB port, I’d try a different USB port, a different cable, and if that fails restart the pc

I downloaded the map I need and it inst showing up in the power commander software. I tried unzipping the map file too but it still doesn't show up in the software.
Aaron Malone maybe try downloading again? Not sure why it would fail to unzip

Christopher Hall personally I can’t help you, I’m not a tuner nor do I have access to any maps that aren’t on their website. I dont work for them or anything, what I would suggest is maybe search your bike forums and see if someone has a decent one that matches your bikes modifications, either that or take it to a seasoned tuner with a bike dyno and have it properly tuned, hope this helps you. They seem to have removed their maps search since like 4 days ago. I've emailed them. I'll comment when(if) I get an answer
So if a different engine was installed with a little bit bigger cam on a gsx-r1000, the specs on the website won’t work right? I’m new to this so I’m just trying to figure out how to do it correctly with the right specs if possible. It was already installed when bought, but I’m not sure if it’s even still tuned and active. I mean, you said if disconnected from power it resets right? I know the guy had just put in a new battery before I purchased so I figured with that being said the power was disconnected and it hasn’t been re mapped and such.
Josh Brock if anything major like that has been done then the maps online would work but the bike wouldn’t run at its full potential. If the battery is disconnected it should not lose the tune.
this guy is all over the internet, did you manually adjust fuel by holding down all three buttons on pc3 and starting the bike.
No. I just imported the tune I downloaded. I haven’t touched it in years. I’m thinking of going to the power commander 6 soon. May do an update on this then
I have a PC3 serial. Thr older pc before the pc3 usb model. I can't seem to load any maps, I can't create a zero map, got no idea what's going on

What's going on is that I have two hayabusas and one has the headers with one exhaust and the other it's an OEM and I want to take the headers with the power commander off one and put it on the other one because I am selling one of the bikes hopefully you understand what I'm trying to tell you thanks
Gotcha. The power commander only adjusts fuel delivery as specific Rpms. Uninstalling it and removing the headers won’t be a problem

What if your like me and don’t have a laptop or computer? There is the manual way but what’s a safe map to manually set up?
The PC3 has buttons you can push. But I suggest you take it to a certified shop to do the work if you can’t load the tune up yourself. They’ll be able to take care of you completely
Hey, I understand this is old post, but my gen 1 hayabusa when the fuel is priming it detects it, when the fuel pump stops it disconnects, it works when I turn it on? can I flash it with bike on
Seems like it isn’t connected properly. Like it’s only powered by the fuel pump. I don’t think you can flash it while it’s running. I have never tried it.
I know this is an old video but do you have any advice on how to install it, i have a 2006 cbr600rr and a power comander 3 for it i got used , i got everything plugged in and grounded but it dosent seem to be getting power on the commander dosent light up and bike wont prime
Esquives Pedro there are instructions on their website, unfortunately I’ve never installed one myself so I don’t have much advice to give. I would check the documentation on the website and maybe someone here in the comments may have an answer.
I used PS3 cord. It said device not communicating. It read the throttle but it just went from 0 straight to 100.
MacLomax strange, sounds like that cable is not a data cable, sounds like its power only, try a different one, like from a GoPro

Glad it could help in some way. The buttons adjust the air to file ratio from my understanding but it doesn’t change too much because it’s only going to let you adjust in a safe range. To get the full benefit of the power commander you need a Dyno tune

Web Page has changed , Dyno Jet is a pure nightmare , where are the maps even with the CD once the unit is plugged into the bike it creates a conflict with the ECM -ECU , this is with the PC3 and the PC5 does not work for a 2K GSX R 750

You can contact DynoJet with all the details of your bike (including all mods) and they’ll suggest which map to download.

One question though: If the map I download is not right for me, or something go's wrong, how do I push the old "Stock" tune back?
You can either download a stock tune or before you import a new one you can click on “get map” in the software and it will pull the current map and you can save it to your computer

Derik Botha should be listed under tunes. They have discontinued the power commander 3 so I imagine the support for it will be going away pretty soon. You will have to go to the website a search for power commander 3 and you bike. If that doesn’t work I’d search the forums for a tune that is is for your bike and get the closest one that matches it and then take your bike to get it Dyno tuned.

I just bought a 2006 cbr1000rr with 5k miles and it has a stage 3 power comander I dont know anything about it bout it from a old man's wife the husband passed away but will I still be able to go about it the same way or can I just take it off and the bike go back to stock without reprogramming it thanks.
yes you can take it off, the power commander itself is not a replacement for the actual ECU on the bike. its simply a fuel mapping computer. it bypasses the factory signal from the stock ecu in order to change how the bike uses fuel. it can be removed and that will return you bike to stock.

after you download your Maps can you take it somewhere that doesn't have internet and still program the Power Commander or do you have to have internet to I live in the country so I was going to go download it and then come home and install it
Scenic Tow once you have the software and the map you want to load you don’t need the internet, I didn’t have internet when I made this video.

@@aldovenegas3751 the cables may only transfer power and not data, im not sure what it could be other than that, unless the usb port you are using is bad.
my gsxr only powers it for a second or two when you flip the key and kill switch off. its enough time to click the get map and to send a map.gotta be quick

How do we account for different countries... fuel in aus is 98oct at the pump so a usa map wont help??

I was hoping that your video would show how to tuneup but it was only installing the software. Your length of time in explaining is fine but U did not show how to tune or adjust the mapping of the gears, Sir
You cant adjust the mapping of the gears, that is not even a combination of words that can be made into a sentence. all the power commander does is adjust fuel based on rpms and throttle position. It has a lot to with your elevation as well. I showed exactly how to put a tune on the power commander, hence the title of the video.
I was told that s power comm5 individual mapping can be done for each gear. Not sure as this is what have been told..

What can all be done with the Power Commander for my 06 R1? Can I adjust my speedometer too?
Bruni Auto no, for that you need a Speedo healer. Healtech makes them for a lot of bikes, all the power commander does is allow you to edit your fuel map based on what modifications you have done to your bike. A power commander 5 has additional add ons like quick shifters and I believe even timing changes can be made, not 100 percent on that.

Thank you very much, sir. I've had a power commander on my bike that it came with and every explanation I've seen assumes a certain amount of knowledge and experience. Yours was the best. As for the snarky comment below about the cable, I could see that the plug looked like a mini usb plug, but I was wondering if that was all it was or if there might be different types. You cleared that up for me. Thanks again. By the way, when I turn my key on the PC3 comes on but then the light goes out when my fuel pump is done priming. I also hear a click when it shuts off. If I start the bike, the light stays on. Can I install the map while the engine is running?
Bob alloo some folks are just impatient. I like to be a clear as possible. My real life job requires me to talk to people in a way that everyone can understand and that translates into my everyday life as well. Some people just don’t understand that and I am very glad the video could help you out.
