Finally someone with the balls to tell the truth about fake e-bikes/ E-Moto
Exactly. I always call out that surrons are really motorcycles on the popular year surron channels and I always get bunch of shit for it.
R.I.P JIM
FOR CALIFORNIA RIDERS: in LA/OC if you get the pedal kit and keep it under 29 mph, it is legally a class 3 e-bike and now can have the befits of both on/off road, bike paths, etc. (depending on the trail/path keep an eye out for signs specifically about motorized vehicles, most times class 2 is the only acceptable ebike which means keep it below 20 mph). Everyone has a different opinion and stance, as well as everyone’s location carries different weight. So no one is wrong truly, but I understand the fear of “the more we put our bikes on government paper, the more the government will push towards making it a standard.” Let’s just keep it civil and love one another on/off road.❤️ however I definitely am IN FAVOR of keeping things in the gray area here in California. To each his own though. All good👌
Good to know
Indeed..I just ordered my kaniwaba kit 😁
@@ItisMeMike congrats man! Get the power pedal kit from them, it’s amazing.
@@dexgray4581 I got the one with the gear and chain included👍👍
Thanks, I’m up in Santa Cruz. Do you know if the laws vary by county or would it be the same up here? I just bought a Talaria, it’s coming this week.
Thank you so much! Answered all my questions
Glad it helped
My wife and I were riding our e-bikes on River-Mountian Trail in Henderson when we passed a rider on a mountain bike going up a long hill, he told us our bikes weren't supposed to be on the trail`. When I got home looked it up and they are legal on all bike paths in Nevada, we see mono wheels, electric scooters, electric skateboards and even some gas powered bikes on the trail.
Life is full of Karen's and Ken's and now they got bicycles and wanna tell at you because you enjoy nature. I don't even bother to stop I salute with my middle finger
Riding safely and politely goes a long ways especially if ur actually on an ebike of some sort. But if ur on an electric dirt bike like in the vid, ur just asking to be harassed and are just ruining it for the Actual Ebike scene. Imagine a highway that has trains and tracks moving on every lane. U gotta just watch out for it. Im sure drivers would love commuting to work and etc. better not get caught up in traffic or change lanes into a railcar. Same shit with dirtbikes blazing thru parks with kids or pathways with pedestrians and bike riders
@@TheCrazyRomanian I ask them if they are a cop. If they say no, then tell them it is illegal to promote yourself as one. That usually puts them on their heels. Except for those Karens and Kens that want to just fight with you.
I might buy one in the future, most likely homologate it as a 125cc motorcycle. Requires a few add-ons but for the most part I can make a beast out of it and go just about anywhere I need.
FREEDOM! Laws Laws Laws Laws. Enough is Enough
3:22 there's a video on TH-cam where a surron rider hit somebody on a bike path. The rider fled the scene and the pedestrian was hospitalized. So yeah no wonder we need laws. Obviously it's for all the idiots out there.
@@jimlahey5354oh shut up you can do the same thing with a 20mph e bike
@IIVilxzyII nah I can confirm that I can't hit something going 40 on a bike trail using a 20mph ebike.
Thank you so much!
Great Vid. Excellent presentation.
Here in the UK the pedal kit is a must! if told to pedal home by the police you just go about 20mph with the motor peddling😅 bluff it they don't know :P haha be careful out there. Also slick super moto tyres help you not stand out so much.
Have been researching this topic on this type of bike. Thanks for the information, very informative and what I was thinking needed to be done to make it street-able. Great video!
Where to get one from in UK?
@@timo55xactually a pedel assist does not make it ok. It also has to be only 250w, which is impossible. So yeah need a license in uk to ride one
Good points 😎🫡
I want to get one as a commuter alternative, especially with high gas prices and the inflated price of electric cars.
Many people use it for that but they are less comfortable than e ebike on the road
Get something confortable that is 100% legal
An Unlocked Lectric XP would do great Super 73 also is great for that.
I have been commuting for about 5 years on my seron. Got about 5,000 miles on it now. It's a great alternative.
@@jimlahey5354 any issues with law enforcement ?
@@TheCrazyRomanianyou are full of shit. It's safer and more comfortable to have a sur ron or a talaria.
I'm learning something here.
worked great!
💯👍👌thanks
properly good explenation!
Great video
One thing missed is that insurance is MUCH more strict then the states. They are quite strict on the 20 mph TOP SPEED that is NOT computer limited. Anything over that is a motorcycle or moped. Now you can get motorcycle insurance but it may not cover it if in an accident if not tagged according to state law depending on how it's operated.
That's true
Depends where u are located
And how you drive I believe
I own a surron and I don't really have problems
Respect is key
We’re are you located?
Good video. I'd like to get those pedals. But s there a set that let you pedal faster or normal.
In Texas we ride them anywhere.
The one with foldable plates and foldable pedals and foldable pegs. Something like that.
Interesting 😊
Thanks for watching
Sounds like it's not worth it for my particular situation. I have an Adventure motorcycle as well as a race motorcycle and a cheaper full suspension mountain bike. I was hoping one of these would be the in between where I could ride fast on side streets to a nice bike trail and back. But it appears it's not worth the hassle
Here in Canada it's ok pretty much
thank you for this, i bought mine resently and yes, the law in quebec is not very clear, but i can register my bike and us it as a scooter with no speed limit ( under 70kmh ).So, i think it is a good solution to make it legal without adding a lot of modifications.
@NoFace TV Hi, you're saying you are going to register it as a scooter ? so you will have a license for it ?
I live in Quebec too. How do you register the bike though and what can of license do you hold for it ?
here are the 6 points you have to respect ( seen on the website of the governement of quebec)

Can you ride this Segway x260 in residential area?
Interesting and very useful information. I'm still in the research phase of transitioning from a sports motorcycle to an ebike because of my advancing age. These look like hella fun bikes.
Same here di you end up buying one?
@Estuary fishing Not yet. I'm reluctant to buy such an expensive item if there is no local dealer for parts, service and repairs.

can you put the pedals on without hooking up mechanism?? i just want it to look like it has pedals but not interfere with drive in anyway
Yes you can
I’m gettin one for Christmas and will be uploading soon does anyone know any laws in Florida
The surron and talaria sting are both motorized vehicles same as a moped which you don’t have to license, register, or insure it but just wear a helmet and don’t do stupid things go to a private place to do it
Thankfully in my state, we are only restricted to 30mph, sane as a moped.
shhhh.... Vegas has gotta teach something 🤘
Yeah shh
Do you know if it's possible to achieve real pedal assist on a Surron? It would be great to actually pedal it and save a little battery if possible.
No you can't The bike is too heavy
Great video, very informative. I live in CA, and have the "street legal" version with pedals, can I just ride it as an e bike without any trouble if I ride slow? Or would I need to get insurance, plates and all that stuff? If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks
It really seems to be up to the mood of any law enforcement that see you
It’s class 3 if you have the power pedal kit and keep in at or under 28mph. This allows you to have the rules of a bicyclist, but you have to ride at or around 20mph on trails bc those are usually class 2 only. Also be aware that any posted signs may give specific rules for the trails. Hope this helps!
@@dexgray4581 this does not negate my point
@@williamtkaczuk4825 if the law is now on your side by using the information I gave this guy (who lives in California like me), then yes, it negates your point. If we’re using your assumption of “all cops” treating people a certain way based on their mood, then that idea applies to every vehicle on the road, not just e-bikes. I’m trying to help this person, not just give him a discouraging blanket opinion that keeps him from doing something fun.
@@dexgray4581 I ride my sur Ron on the roads in Pennsylvania with no issue, but I know the risks. It's a gray area that can be skewed in either direction.
I live in SoCal and saw the Sur-Ron was not going to make it as an regular E-bike and just registered it a moped. Had to add working brake light, mirrors, pay a one time fee, insurance and limited to 30mph but don't have to worry about the legal thing and can ride off-road and on-road too.
I love in socal aswell. Have you successfully registered it as a moped?
@@robjazful you do NOT need to register the SurRon in California. Do not cut the green wire, you are now limited to 28 mph. Get the power pedal kit, wear a dot approved helmet, and now you are officially a fully legal class 3 ebike in California.
@@dexgray4581 thank you! I wasn't planning on cutting the green wire but jusssssst in case I accidentally cut it to get a little more power. Do you think a cop would actually check to see if it's been altered?
@@robjazful The best thing is to keep yourself completely clear of any guilt or temptation to push past 28 mph. If you don’t cut the green wire, you know you’re good… But it’s fully up to you whether or not do you wanna take that risk. I don’t think cops are becoming that wise, but because of how popular these specific bikes are getting, it’s only a matter of time before someone tells a cop what to look for and the information begins to spread. I think you’re good either way as long as you’re completely riding according to the limits of those laws I mentioned, no one can really fault you for anything. Just make sure you know your rights and still be willing to leave certain areas if a cop tells you to do so. Because on a lot of bike paths and certain trails, there are signs that say no motorized vehicles, which usually limits E bikes to being class 2 only… in which case you would need to meet all the same requirements, but keep it at 20 mph or less instead of 28. The problem with the laws are how they wrote them. A lot of people wouldn’t have trouble complying with these laws, if the people who wrote those laws simply had a better understanding of ebikes. Also not to sound sketchy or recommend something that seems like a lie… But I would recommend purchasing a class 3 e bike sticker to place somewhere on your bike that would give more visual relief if a cop were to see it. Something you can point to if pulled over, however this would only be applicable if you’re going 28mph or less. So it’s not a pass to ride crazy is what I mean. kind of comes down to this: if you follow all of the technicalities of the laws, and ride it like a class 3 should be ridden, you’re all good. And please for the love of all that is holy, keep wheelies off Main streets. All these kids are ruining it for everyone. Haha hope this helps buddy! And hope to see you out there one day!
How do you register.. it don't have a vin # lol .. just don't be seen driving crazy and get the pedal kit. Unless you plan to zoom around town all the time full throttle at 45mph
Can you please do this for Australia?
Cheers
🤙
In California, put a sprocket on it to keep it 30mph or below, get a motorcycle license, get insurance and register it as a moped - done
But then you have a moped , you can't ride bicycle trails
@@TheCrazyRomanian life is full of trade offs
Not necessary whatsoever. If you have a SurRon, Do not cut the green wire, now you’re limited to 28mph. Get the pedal kit, and wear a dot approved helmet. You’re now legally a class 3 ebike legal to ride in California under bicycle laws.
@@TheCrazyRomanian you ALREADY have a Moped. So yea, you should not be riding Bicycle trails.
@@dexgray4581 "28mph" but can go 45 ish right?
Surron and Talaria xxx, segway x260 e-bikes are classified as dirt e-bikes, which are not legal for street use. They are more like Dirt e-motorcycles than e-bikes. You will need pedals like a bicycle to be an E-Bike.
If it has pedals, yes it's classed as a bike. You can make the surron be a bike
Mine is fully road legal here in the U.K. because I have the road legal version. It has lights, indicators, a horn and a numberplate. It has to be insured and you need road tax and also the correct driving license
Yeah this is murica .. freedom
@@TheCrazyRomanian 🤣🤣🤣 freedom to get shot... You can keep your false "freedom". Most people here just ride the normal version like you have mentioned in the video... Illegally and run the risk of getting caught and their bike taken from them and crushed
@@Sur-Ron haha yep getting shot its a real risk .. and yeah i wonder what they would do if they stopp you here, not sure if they gonna crush it but its a posibility
can you put a licence plate on it ?
The only way they can prove what speed you were going is if they had radar or they were pacing you. I like your rationale that says you're able to have the bike that's capable of a speed exceeding the allowable limit, but the real key is if you're not exceeding that speed limit just like a car, they can't cite you for speeding. There must be evidence to support a claim. To your point, they can see whether you have pedals that work or not. If I didn't get a ticket I wouldn't care whether I could pedal it or not because, as you said you're only going 2 mph with the pedals, so I would be arranging for a tow. Most people that ride motorcycles, don't ride bicycles so they may not be cardio fit enough to Pedal it anyway.
you only need to pedal to the first mcdonlads, wait there eat a sandwich than ride it back home on full throttle :D
@@TheCrazyRomanian that's right, you've got it all figured out.
In a courtroom, a judge is allowed to accept the expert opinion of a peace officer regarding estimated speed within a reasonable range. If you want to have that argument go for it. You are still wasting time in a courtroom even if you win.
Is the pedal kit functional though?
So when this this be a better moped ?
How much does it cost
Don’t be stupid while riding and you’ll be ok
Are the kaniwaba pedals compatible with the Talaria Sting ?
If the same frame as surron yes
I also need to know this.
Grey areas don't usually work in court. Not worth the worry. Just buy a gas motorcycle.
Kind of destroys the whole electric
As long as it's plated and registered etc you are obviously good to go.
Anybody know about FL?
Not necessarily, every moving vehicle that goes above 25 kmh speed and power of motor depends above country limit no matter of propulsion supossed to have license plate and drivers license according to category (motorcycle ,car etc ) .
I can go 25 with a bicycle ...
🤔🤔🤔 i was gonna buy one, now im sorry i sold my Super 73’s, maybe i will buy the Grizzly
Can you be under 16 though?
i don't know why they make such big deal about it, they will just keep making laws till your rights are so small you don't feel like your living.
Comply with speed yes, but do you really need pedals?🤔
I think I could get away with it on the road here as long as I don't draw attention to myself. My work is 1.5 miles away from me and I could further avoid attention by using secondary routes.
True
Look up pegals they are pedals that can turn into pegs
In Maryland all you have to do is slap a 750 watt sticker on it and ride respectfully and it's considered a class 2 as defined by state laws.
does this still apply?- im looking at using one for a 2mi commute and cant tell if i need to do it legally/correctly. cant find any material on the legit way (moped, motorcycle, ebike etc)
@@km55111 yes
Can't you just register it as "motorcycle." That'll be cheaper than buying the ridiculous pedal kit that's way overpriced. Great video!
Luna Cycle (California distributor) has a video on how to register the Surron as a Moped for street use. Even though it's 3-4 years old I'm pretty sure it still applies!
@@wrjames38 Yeah, but then you wouldn't be an asshole.
I look fast and ride hard on my surron everywhere, cops dont look twice in CALIFORNIA. 😊
That's good hopefully status that way
My surron identifies as a electric mountain bike so I can legally ride anywhere.
i got stopped couple weeks ago i was riding on bike path in town and the cop decided its a motorcycle so now im getting citations all that applies to motorcycles
You didn't have pedals
What state?
Wisconsin
Yeah if you didn't have pedals then you are in risk,
Or put lights and signals on it and try to get it classified as a moped! Then you can go 25mph past the cops!
I don't want a moped
@@TheCrazyRomanian "moped" that can go 50+ with a controller setting change ;)
And if I wanna complain about it I have the right to do that I’m already going through a fucking bullshit thing with the police and them telling me what I can and can’t drive so I am in the process of having to take them to court because they want to keep doing that which is against the law
How ridiculous is the law if all they wanna do is limit movement. Hell no. Keep it as the beast it's built to be and simply don't stop.
It's basically an electric motobike and should be treated as such.

Will the pedal kit make it street legal
It makes it bicycle legal
In California, keep it under 29mph, get the power pedal kit from kaniwaba, and wear a dot approved helmet. You are now a fully legal class 3 ebike in California.
if it has more than 250 watts it is not compatible with bicycles
it's actualy 750 watt that the law requires and most of the bikes that are " certified "ebike actually pull 1500 watts on the watt meter
And UK anyone???!!
tremendous problem you bought, many people running bicyles with 1000 w and it is illegal but in class 3 it is 28 mph 750 or less
Truth be told nobody there to give you tickets ...
FINALLY, a poster who acknowledges what this MOTORCYCLE really is.
If you have to order an ornamental kit to "make it legit", then you KNOW what it really is. It is an MXC-E.
Stop riding them on multi-use and MTB trails.
CLass 1 riders who are straight up pedal assist are banned from trails because of irresponsible riders being dillweeds.

I thought 28mph was ok 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Mine is street legal and with plates, fuck pedals etc i don't understand how people can ride with them.
and i like going faster then 20mph Full speed 45mph for me!!
the plates are great for the street , but if you wanna enjoy bike trails plates dont help , also plates makes it illegal ro tide any bike paths, parks or anywhere where vehicles are not allowed
But Patrick can take his plate and mirror off and have the best of both worlds with the pedal kit
What state are you in? I want to put the supermoto kit on it for road use in Michigan -- trying to figure out exactly what all I need to be legal.
@patrick H From where did you get the plates ?
@@TheCrazyRomanian - These don't belong on bike paths - period. Cheating the system so you can endanger others is irresponsible. Either ride it on dirt-bike trails, or make it street legal. And if you ride it off-road, then also get an OHV sticker to help pay for the trail maintenance.
they want to get people away from gas yet they make a fuss over an electric bike.
Yeah they need priorities

Ok Mr injector
Follow one simple law... Don't ride like a jerk.
EXACTLY! Cops won't even give a second glace if people aren't acting stupid
Fuck all that, I wouldn't put pedals on that thing, I'll stick to the grey area's..
Who buys a sur ron just to cap it at 750watts. Yes its not illegal to ride it if you cap it but who that
@NeptuneSega class 2 ebikes do not come with peddles and throttle only but limited to 20mph. Yes still an electric bycicle. This is the problem with sur rons. You got people telling police that it's a class 2. But don't mention that they cannot exceed 750watts or 20mph.
For electric rides 30-40 is an electric moped. Meaning drivers license only once you go beyond 40mph it's an electric motorcycle.
this thing is heavy and high speed, you can kill someone with that bike on a bicycle trail
Fat people on bicycles downhill ate fast and heavy
Do you research before making a video. surron are not motorcycles The maximum speed is 45 miles an hour and it comes stock only 28 miles an hour. if you keep the wire cut, it legal depending on where you live. The max speed is either 28 miles an hour or 20. You do not need pedals if you do not cut the green wire that unlocks the full speed if it did go faster than that you would need pedals.
