Try using some rubber flat strips for the front turn signals or some double sided tape to make the circumference bigger to fill in the gap. Plus it will stop the lights from moving or moving

For the license plate light, just get a GoPro light mod, put it on low and you'll have a detachable and movable led light that lasts 6 hours per charge. I just recharge it every time I plug my bike in and it works great :)

I've been looking for a good bike w/ pedals but I ended up getting a Razor Mx650 and getting a 48v 2000w kit to modify it and learn the electrics, now it's got a 30+mph top speed, Now I want to get the 72v 3000w motor w/ a Kelly controller to pull 6kw to get 60mph then get the full lights kit w/ turn signals and alarm/horn.... Just hoping I can get it registered as a moped in my state but PA is weird.

What is your opinion on using the Sur Ron for a daily commuter? I'm mainly concerned legality wise (Colorado). Currently my Super73 does good, but my work is moving farther away.
I use my sur ron ebike almost every single day going back-and-forth to work, and been doing it for the past almost 2 years with no problems

Fischer fab has changed the programming of the light so it comes on with the bike now. I just installed a lighting kit and comes on and off with the switch. If you send yours back he might be able to reprogram it for you.

Are the rgb lights plug and play?
13:45 Do you still need the splashguard if you have the stock fender over the rear wheel?
I like the splash guard because you can still get dirt on the rear suspension and it’s not very easy to clean
What tires are you running?
You have more potential than you think you have.
Maybe the pos and negative on the plate light are backwards? It’s too late now but the relay has a connector? You could unplug and reroute

No if you put it in the opposite way. The license plate light will not even work. You can only hook it up one way.

Great video. Curious why you turn off your underglow when you see cops? Underglow on motorcycles in California is legal, as long as it's not flashing, red, blue, or in the front of the bike.
because i'm on a bike thats highly modified to be like a motorcycle. these have no vin numbers so its not registered or plated or insured. to much attention and your f'd.
I know this video's a year old but I was looking into getting a Surron to make street legal. Then I read somewhere they don't come with a VIN # which makes it almost impossible to register. Anyone know the truth or does it depend on the state you're in? I'm in Mass if anyone has any info, thanks
use the motors serial number and add a bunch of 0's infront of it to make it a full vin, register as a moped
Thanks for the in depth review, kinda wish you showed how the connection to the existing wiring was done. The cons for what they are charging for the kit is too much for me. I'm going to continue work on my homemade kit with turn/brake lights using existing brake circuits. Thanks again.
The brake reed switch will fuse to the on position eventually. That’s why it was not used.
@@e-mxshop3459 I will have to assume you have seen this personally. So I have to ask, is this a common failure on SUR-RON'S? Does this failure occur when used to switch a high current light device? Or is it a mechanical failure due to repetitive motion of the handle? I have no intention of using the switching circuit to handle any loads. It will be logic microprocessor control only.
@@Nathan-wz4lg yes without a mosfet the load and repetition from the reed will cause it to stick on. This is why we opted to use separate brake sensor. Plus with upgraded brakes you need it to be universal. Also we wanted to keep it as simple as possible and compact/waterproof so the mosfet was out of the question. Although if you keep bike stock by all means it will work!
@@e-mxshop3459 I appreciate the info. I will be using the stock sensor to signal a microprocessor that will handle all the lighting duties with pwm outputs through mosfets, so there will be no actual loads on the sensor.

Yeah here in California the limit is 28 mph but cops don’t really look at you even if you’re doing 35. It’s when you’re doing 40+ miles an hour in the bike lane they start to look at you like how fast is this guy going but for the most part they don’t mess with us too much
In Cali would having a pedal kit make it comply with e-bike laws or moped laws?

Rode the Black edition all modded out. I thought they were fast. Which they are quicker than S73. But I dust them with my Onyx with 2 parameters on the comtroller changed.
bac4000 sur ron and a sicko mode onyx rcr me and my buddy racing. 10lbs difference in riders. onyx got a bike out but the sur ron came around. Now with 72v on the sur ron. onyx doesn't stand a chance

you have to have pedals to pass this off as an electric bike, use some trails, and use the bike lane. Without pedals your more of a moped and cops in new york are already cracking down on that when people without pedals use the bike lane. riding in the street is illegal here in california over 28mph.

No. I think they should change that design tho. You can put them higher up on the forks but instructions say to install them where I put mine.

I'm happy my Spark Cycleworks Bandit came equipped with all the street legal requirements on it from the company so that I can ride legally on the streets of New York City. The Bandit comes with a bill of sale and registration papers too. The amount of money you've already paid for the Sur-Ron stock, then you spend all that extra money to make it go faster and now you gonna spend even more money to make it street legal. That's too much money to be speeding on these ebike's you might as well get a motorcycle or an inexpensive electric motorcycle.

They are way to strict on the rules. Even little BMX bicycles need to be registered at the cash register before it leaves the store. SurRon is just a $4000 unregistered vehicle waiting to be confiscated.

they do work but they do not activate electric power when pedaling. t hey do make a kit that does that now. my pedal kit chain is connected to the btw FYI

Just read it. Literally none of the description of class 2 or class 3 matches with Sur Ron. Sur Ron doesn’t even have pedal assist. That by default can’t fit into the class 3 category. It doesn’t make any sense.
Anything that comes close to Sur Ron is moped and if it’s classified as moped, you need to have insurance and license. How is it that some people in any way argue that it is a class 3 or even class 2? Even moped is not accurate as well.
It’s just common sense that something like this will require a license. It’s just a matter of time. Maybe something close to a year or so and it will be mandated to have licenses. There are too many videos posted up online getting into accidents and getting too much attention from the cops because of kids doing wheelies in the middle of a main road everywhere.
If u keep the power and speed at 28mph. Cops won’t no it’s not an ebike. Unless the cop actually knows what he’s talking about. That’s the beauty of these bikes. I tell cops it has an off-road mode and onroad class3 mode and they think it’s cool. No issues. Just don’t get caught doing 40-50+ on it.
I push my luck and all cops think it’s a electric motorcycle. You make No noise. Your not bugging anybody. They don’t even look

WoW. That is some hokey 💩. The turn signals and weird magnet brake light setup. I feel like they had a first day intern design this. Lost opportunity to make a nice integrated kit.
