0:00 Can dairy affect hormones? I explain
0:28 The hormones in milk can target various organs in your body
0:58 I’m not against dairy, but some people are already estrogen dominant
In this video, I answer the question: can dairy affect hormones? Or not?
Let’s take a look at what milk is. It’s designed to feed a growing calf, and it’s loaded with different hormones, primarily estrogen. The types of estrogen are estradiol and estrone. Milk also contains IGF which, along with estrogen, is a growth hormone.
The hormones in milk can target the prostate, breast, uterus, and ovary. When I was in practice, I found a high correlation of women who came in with fibroids and them consuming a lot of dairy: milk, cream, sour cream, half and half, cream cheese, cheese, yogurt, and butter. The fattier the dairy, the more hormones.
I’m not against dairy, but some people are already estrogen dominant. They have hormonal imbalances and may have prostate enlargement. They have cysts in their breasts, presenting as fibrocystic breasts. They may have a problem with their uterus, such as endometriosis, which is when there is extra tissue growth around the uterus. Or they may even have cysts on their ovaries, or else polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a condition in which your androgens are too high, caused by cysts triggering the androgen hormone.
If you have any of these conditions, you definitely need to put dairy to the side for a while.
Everyone needs to realize that these hormones in dairy can create an effect on the body. To minimize the damage, definitely go for organic, grass-fed products. At least with organic, you know the animals haven’t been fed GMO-type feed. But if you’re consuming commercial milk, you’re definitely getting exposed to GMO feed.
I personally consume a small amount of cheese every day, and I make sure it’s both organic and grass-fed. I also consume a lot of cruciferous food. If you also consume cruciferous vegetables, you’ll get an anti-estrogenic effect. In other words, they’ll help clean up excess estrogen in your body.
Lastly, I would always tell my patients to try this experiment: for one week, completely give up dairy and see how you feel. A certain percentage would do very well. Others would feel no difference. This may give you a few clues to determine whether you’re sensitive to dairy or not.
And now you know the answer to the question, can dairy affect hormones?

I'll never be 20 again but I have have followed Dr Berg for over 2 years now with very positive results. I ditched cows milk and cut way back on cheese after my 2nd attack and don't miss it all.
I use grass fed butter now instead of margarine and have a small amount of cheese. Stomach issues disappeared in a week.....energy improved over time.....my doctor has eliminated some meds and greatly reduced others.

Roundup is brutal....I had cut out grains totally for 90 days but it becomes difficult to avoid :(
I do consume about 1/3 of what I used to .....its crazy what the offical Canada food guide was promoting all these years....to their credit they just removed dairy as a food group.
As individuals we just have to constantly reseach to be aware of what we are dealing with. Last year we lost my wifes lovely sister Debbie to cancer....she was only 58 way too young. Not a easy death.

Also addgressive fermenting of dairy will help. I ferment 2-3 days adding jockstrap mollases and raisins. When all the sugar has turned to lactic acid and the Casine to cheese, like what happens in a baby's stomach=less trouble digesting. Raisins are also linked to raising testosterone and molasses adds minerals to the already mineral right milk. Plus milk sugar, molasses, and sugar in raisins feed a much higher microbe population in the resulting dairy products.
I only use grass fed goat milk too.

With packaged heated milk from the grocery store, I had several problems; mucilage, acne, digestive problems etc.
Fresh raw milk from the organic farmer, free range (grass and hayfeeding); Zero negative reactions, on the contrary, super digestive, no dry skin, stronger fingernails plus better eyesight (carotene?).

Personally, I think it has less to do with the race rather than with the blood type, (mentioned that there are more or less of each specific group), skin and hair color are just a tiny dot on the DNA strand.
"Do you get negative physical reactions after taking cow's milk or products? Then a lactose intolerance could be responsible. We mainly find a lack of lactase in blood groups "0" and "A". This enzyme breaks down lactose into glucose and galactose. If this enzyme is missing, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, migraine, headache or skin reactions may occur when lactose is added."
Also the habituation of the family, the familys history and the toddlers first months after birth is of great importance and has a big influence. The digestive tract of humans is very adaptable and adaptive, it just takes time to build up a suitable intestinal flora.
Everybody has to find out for himself what works best, it can change during life, even for one and the same person.
Nature-identical, poison- and gmo-free, diverse food and listening to your own body will probably be the best way, no matter what others say.

Dr. Berg, thank you for hosting the 2019 keto conference. I met so many good people looking for answers. You are doing God’s work in helping us. Hormones are very powerful and over looked tools that can help people with metabolic disorders regain their health. I did the HCG protocol through Dr. Ron Festkco in New Paris, Pa. At age 45, I was 278 pounds. I lost 45 pounds in 40 days and then another 25 pounds in five weeks. Basically, the HCG hormone went to my pituitary gland, signaled to my brain that I was not hungry, which allowed me to be on a 500 calorie diet for 40 days, where I burned 3000 cal. of fat stores plus the 500 cal. of that diet. After the 40 days, I switched to 1,300 cal. for five weeks and lost an additional 25 pounds. This portion of the diet, is key in that you reestablish a basil metabolism rate of a 20 year old and you become metabolically flexible.
For 6 years all went well, but I started picking weight back up when Penny & I started eating too many Walmart pizzas. I went back on the HCG diet and lost another 50 pounds. This time instead of the shots, we used a roll on cream with HCG & B12. At the end of the diet, I was determined not to go back to my old eating ways. Dr. Mercola’s book Fat for Fuel becomes,e available that week and I bought it and could not put it down. I adopted his plan and my weight has stabilized. At 55, I have a flat stomach and can see my six packs. Penny & I are now following the keto fast concept twice a week and we also bought a Nina Foodi, to remove some plant base lectins from our diet.
One pitfall we all should become aware of is so-called natural salts that contain way to much fluoride in them. Fluoride is a metabolic / protoplasmic poison. It inhibit enzymes and hydrogen bonds and roughly 60 studies now point to lower IQ. Keto diets requires more salt intake. Beware of the fluoride in these products. I always used iodine salt and spring water for drinking!

In the Physicians’ Health Study, which followed 21,660 men for 28 years, those consuming 2.5 servings of dairy daily had a 34% higher risk of developing prostate cancer, compared with men consuming half a serving or less. Whole milk intake was associated with risk of progression to fatal disease after diagnosis.
      _____________________
The Adventist Health Study-2 followed 52,795 pre- and postmenopausal women for an average of 7.9 years and found that higher intakes of cow’s milk were associated with a 50% increased risk for breast cancer. Full-fat and reduced-fat milks produced similar results.
      ________________
The Swedish Mammography Cohort included 61,084 women aged 38-76 years who were followed for an average 13.5 years. Women who consumed two or more glasses of milk a day had twice the risk of serous ovarian cancer, compared with women who never or seldom drank milk.

Hello Dr. Berg, I watched this video and it was very helpful .
I just have one question what if I replaced cow milk with almond or oat milk would that be a safe option or would it be just slightly better than cow milk.(I’m sure i won’t like the taste but i’m willing to consider it if it’s a safer option).
Coffee is what makes me happy and it’s hard for me to drink it without milk I haven’t tried excluding milk but if it’s going to impact my health I will definitely consider it I just want to know my options considering that grass fed milk is not an option for me unfortunately as it’s unavailable where I live .
Thank you Dr and looking forward to your feedback .

I'm ethnically Chinese and was told that I was lactose intolerant. I started taking dairy excessively ten years ago and stopped one year ago. Dairy destroyed me and gave me constant fatigue which I didn't know could be attrituble to the tryptophan in dairy. I suffered diarrhoea, constipation and bloating with pain as well, together with worsening of my eczema and joint aches. Dairy also made it hard for me to lose weight. Clearly I am genetically unsuited to dairy. Luckily I have my dairy-free asian diet to stick to.

Congrats on working out how to get well! I am mixed European Aussie and what you described has been tge same for me too, with dairy. Its also very addictive. I came off it for a year and then started " a little bit" this year... Swung back into addiction and got fat as mud... Again...
Moderation can be a trap for some of us.

dairy isnt bad but the processed ones affect us the most. i thought i was allergic to milk when i was younger from the bad stomach aches from the 1% processed milk. one day i tried whole organic grass fed milk and had no stomach ache. im very selective with dairy now. it has to be organic and not processed. ive met people who cant drink milk but are fine with raw milk.

Is grass fed+ organic butter and milk ok for PCOS and fibroids ? I used to break out when consuming non grass fed butter but recently I’ve tried grass fed butter and it does not cause any breakout on my chin … so wondering if grass fed milk and yogurt would be ok to have as well.. thanks in advance.

Is goat milk better? Does it have less hormones? My skin breakouts cleared up when I quit dairy (I still have cheese a few times a week), but no more milk, I was drinking 2 glasses a day. I can’t find organic milk where I live, so I’m wondering if goat milk would be a better alternative. The hormones in regular milk gives me acne, I’m sure of that now. But other than that, I’m not lactose intolerant and I love how filling and satisfying milk is.

I haven't even watched this video yet and I'm going to say abso-freakin'-lutely! I'm insulin resistant/ PCOD aka pcos and it affects me! I am currently cutting out my coffee in the morning and saving it for late morning/ early afternoon when I break my fast. I am 100% sure that dairy in the morning is the culprit, my coffee with HWC or Kerry gold & MCT oil. I can't go without my fatty coffee so I'm saving it for when I open my eating window & pretty much putting a damper on dairy for a while :) I'm drinking tea first thing in the morning instead.
Okay now I'm going to watch the video and see what dr. Berg says LOL.

It will be nice to feel and see the results in my skin and body. Maybe I can reintroduce these foods after a while in small doses one at a time to pinpoint what it is that makes my skin inflamed?

Aesitic acid will melt down mucus forming very excellent. The people who are sensitive to mucusforming from dairy is because people are already deficient in stomach acid in order to break down mucus ( which is part of protein molecule). Always consume ACV.

I have a random question about cruciferous vegetables. I blended cabbage, kale, and brussel sprouts in my blender. As I was drinking it, I noticed that my throat was burning. My mouth was fine, just my throat. When I stopped drinking the burning stop. Has anyone else experienced this? And no I’m not allergic to any of the three. I can eat them and be just fine. Blending/juicing them was a big no no for my throat.

L F . People eat coleslaw which is cabbage and he puts kale in his shakes without cooking them. Thank you but cooking them isn’t the answer.
