- I'm known for avoiding coins while playing Mario games, but Super Mario Galaxy 2 actually has another form of currency : the Starbits! You can use those to trade to hungry lumas to open up new galaxies, but I was wondering : Is it possible to beat Super Mario Galaxy 2 without a Starbit?

@@psychie8625 yep, no exaggeration, i was stuck there for five years (i refer to the Ball galaxy of the postgame btw).
Its still second to Zelda Twilight Princess, where i was stuck for 7 years in the "escort the carriage" mission of the story (stuck since 2014 until i replayed the game in 2021).
@@sebastianchavez1225Purple coins on rainbow road is pretty tough, due to the fact you can only miss 10 coins, but there’s other levels I’d say are harder

Seeing CMeeCraft's no star bit video from last year has prepared me for this.

well to be fair CMee didn't do rolling masterpiece because right after he was given 50 starbits from the mailtoad which, if he let slide, would invalidate the run. soo... in reality nico saved himself time by giving up on rolling masterpiece.

Isn't it possible to save and quit out of the game after touching that star crystal on the map, before you absorb its star bits? I thought I remember reading that you could do that after watching CMeeCraft's video of this challenge last year.
While that would be possible quitting the game will spawn you at the start of the world and respawn the giant starbit so you’d effectively make no progress

Nintendo didn't forget SMG2, they legit said its a retelling of the first one and even then, there was some real sh*t happening during development so they probably didn't want to touch it anyways

Waluigigoeswa actually found a way around the world map star bits.
Here's what normally happens:
1. Fly to the star crystal. Star bits go to Starship Mario.
2. The count goes from 0 to 8.
3. 8-0=8, so 8 star bits were collected.
Alternatively, try this:
1. Withdraw 9999 star bits from Banktoad. Because Banktoad is allied
with you, you already had them, you were just moving them around.
2. Fly to the star crystal. Star bits go to Starship Mario.
3. The count goes from 9999 to 9999.
4. 9999-9999=0, so 0 star bits were collected.
5. Give the 9999 star bits back to Banktoad.
Note that you cannot do this for normal level star bits, since levels
have their own counters, and you can't fill that counter using Banktoad.

I think the ship travels faster when using the pointer of the wiimote (travelling can be done by pointing the place we want to go, and press A, instead of using the joystick)
The problem is that the giant starbit on the map still respawns after exiting

In theory, yes. I think its probably frame perfect if possible tho
It is, but only possible on TAS (TAS =Tool Assisted Speedrun - When a human tells a robot when to tap a button frame perfectly on an amulator. These run are on a separate leaderboard then regular speedruns, because some tricks that TAS can do are impossible for a human to pull off.)
Why did they not put this game in 3D all stars? Come on Nintendo.
This game was more so my childhood than Galaxy 1. It’s just better in my opinion and closer to me. Mostly the nostalgia factor though XD

When i had to prove that a certain challenge was not possible was a little more painful, i was playing pyrite adventure 2 which is a sonic adventure 1 based game on roblox, and i tried beating it without the homing attack or air dash, and the only reason it was not possoble was cuznyou can't voldoe with the final boss without the homing attack, so only cuz of that, the minimum is 6 uses of the homing attack, litherally
EVERYTHING else was not to bad, so atleast the 8 action stages are possible
