Son of a Glitch was a very cool series for me when I was in middle school, and I constantly rewatched the older videos over the years. Now we have a new episode, a start of a new a era, and I’m graduating in a few weeks. I’m glad everything’s going good :)

Great video! As a speedrunner, I expected to not learn anything new from this, but actually there were 12 things I wasn't aware of already:

A vast improvement over the past Son of a Glitch videos I remember where it was just stretching a half-dozen minor glitches over 20 minutes, IMO. Good job on this one

This, this was an amazing list of glitches. I have seen maybe half of these scattered throughout many other videos discussing Sunshine glitches. Thank you for the excellent quality, and overall, just fun way of showcasing and explaining what is going on. So glad you are back man!

SMS is very broken, even when you are playing it as intened
With a level as infamous as pachinko you didnt think the game was that broken?! Even in a casual playthrough, pachinko proves the game was rushed through QA testing and numerous bugs escaped squashing (at least in the original release).
Just to break down how pachinko shows the cracks, a ground pound almost does what you expect it to by canceling your horizontal movement... as long as you are not still within the launching animation, but if you should land on a peg where you'd expect to be able to simply walk into the hole you want, you will be flung far to the right the moment you leave the grounded state (to fall, for example).

I have waited years for this episode. Literally since this channel started (I boarded early). Glitch #27 has been something I've been deeply intrigued about for like 20 years. Ever since I saw the glitch showcased on one of G4's shows (Can't remember which one. Maybe Cheat?) and tried it out for myself, I've wanted to know for _so long_ what was actually happening (a shame that even you have no idea but it's at least acknowledged. I rarely see this glitch mentioned).
Something to further note about that glitch. If you do it with Yoshi and demount at the same time you do a ground pound, you go EVEN HIGHER. So high it could take minutes to HOURS to get back down. You _LITERALLY_ go ABOVE the sun. Apparently Sunshine has no maximum height or ceiling to the levels, and the sun is an actual object in the sky. And this glitch + Yoshi sends Mario and the camera into space, except there are no stars or planets. Just a blue void.
With the dune bud ground pound glitch, something noteworthy that might be relevant here is that Mario's ground pound homes in on moving platforms in Sunshine. If he ground pounds over a platform that's moving, he will move sideways to match with the platform as well. This also happens vertically, and so it's possible that maybe, in the process of transitioning from the normal collision in that area to the staircase below, Mario gets snapped up and back down very quickly, and the camera is just too slow to follow.
Also, as for the second point, there is a maximum height. That's what Mario grabs onto in the glitch involving placing a banana above a hangable ceiling.
It's good to know I'm not alone in thinking the poison river is the worst mission on the game.

His most recent upload I think was 9 months ago on his ScykohPlays account and I don’t think people have heard from him since unless he makes posts elsewhere I’m not aware of. Shame he’s not on TH-cam anymore from what I’d assume
@@Silver_Sonic_23 No one really knows, he and his wife just disappeared off the internet. I looked for a bit and he made a reddit post a year ago but it was just about computers. I assume he had a kid or something and just completely gave up video game content creation.

This is super weird timing because I just finished 100%ing this game a few hours ago
Small note: there's actually another way to get OoB in Delfino Plaza: Getting off of Yoshi at a specific point on the building the two guards are standing outside of, you can get him to clip inside the wall, then you can just jump near him to get on.
Also, I think the reason for the strange characteristics mario takes on after jumping in the sewer is that the game considers Mario to be in that jump state the entire time, which is why the durians get kicked so hard.
I dunno why it kills the clambers though.

We are SO back! Mario Sunshine is certainly a fun game to just... mess around in. I haven't even come close to beating it, I just like being in Delfino Plaza (I might have spelled that wrong) and chilling on the beach. This game certainly has a unique physics engine, as shown by all these glitches. But it's a fun time for sure. Also, despite probably spelling it wrong, I learned through my Italian classes that "delfino" means "dolphin". So it's a dolphin island! I think that's pretty cute :3

It's been a long time since I've seen an SMS glitch video. This game has so many wild glitches, and while many of these I was already aware of, there were a number of newer ones that I didn't already know. You did a nice job showing them off!

I really need to replay this game! I played it for the first time via Super Mario 3D all stars (I started right when the updates came around which was lucky lol) and absolutely loved the game. I loved messing around with some glitches in Sunshine and seeing videos about it, especially Scykohplays' 2020 one where he just did all the stages out of order LMAO. This video is great too! Here's to 1 million subscribers and more! (Also the editing's super nice too, I remember the very old Son of a Glitch videos like Mario 64 and how far you've come since then!). I remember the fruit storage glitch with Yoshi was a big meme on Scykoh's channel lol (AND YOU STILL GET THE FRUIT BACK!).
