- I'm known for avoiding coins while playing Mario games, but Mario Galaxy actually has another form of currency : the Starbits! You can use those to trade to hungry lumas to open up new galaxies, but I was wondering : Is it possible to beat Super Mario Galaxy without a Starbit?

Nice to see a fellow TH-camr also trying out the no star bit diet. I'm glad I was able to help you through Honeyhive though even just seeing it again in a no star bits challenge context I think was close to triggering some sort of PTSD for me, lol.
About that last star bit at the center of the universe. It gave me a real tough time during my challenge as well, so much so that like you Nico I had written it off as impossible. I did end up eventually working it out though as can be seen during the end screen on my Super Mario Galaxy 2 no star bits video. Perhaps something to revisit in the 120 stars video. Good work and keep up the no star bit life.

@@tristaneven5511 i mean its just my opinion, but it just feels like just another yoshi game. the crafted theme isnt as good as the wool theme as wooly world, at least yoshi looks like wool in wooly world, i have no idea what yoshi is supposed to be in crafted world. the level design works, but it could be a lot better, and the completion process is very dumb. but overall its still an ok game, but it sucks, "lol".

It's not bad, there are a lot of people doing challenges. Part of the fun comes with seeing what parts were easier or harder for each one.

By the way, in the CMeeCraft SMG2 sequel, there is a clip of him saving the 1 star bit in the final level. As for the 120 stars, it is 6,000 for Hungry Lumas on the Comet Observatory alone. At least they can come from any level, so that's good news. Right? Anyways good video. Shows that nothing has changed in the 3D All Stars remake can effect challenges.

I think some of the automatic starbits might be because of where you put your pointer, if you put in a different corner I don’t think you will get any.
One time the game sorta glitched out at the 1st star in gusty garden. At the bunny catching part, the star bunny went into the rabbit hole thing with the 1up. I went to get the 1up and expected the rabbit to run away as usual, but he just stood there and watched me. So then i got an easy catch. idk if it was a bug or something

One thing that helps you with the cursor is the switch's handheld mode which you have to manually tap the screen instead of moving the switch, just a thought 😉
I would be curious to see what the minimum amount of starbits and coins possible in one playthrough. That would be a crazy but fun challenge.

Something i was thinking about is that its recommeded that when you can attack an enemy by both jumping and spinning, you better jump on then, cuz they give star bits when hitting them with a spin, and when you jump on them you get a coin instead

I'd say star bits being needed for certain areas would remind me of New Super Mario Bros 2 since that this game has star bits EVERYWHERE.

I find funny how he says the star bits are yucky but as Lumas said, they taste like honey and thats very sweet
Isn't the total actually 101, because the 5 you collected for the tutorial can be fed to the Luma? (So you only need to get an additional 95 star bits to feed the first Luma)
I know I'm a year late, but the general starbits you've collected don't carry over. You start every level with 0, no matter how many you have total in the observatory

Here`s a speed run trick: if you break the first gate, there will be no roof so you can backflip and lead the bullet bill over the fence. It is not hard to do.

If you do the mario galaxy 2 star-bitless challenge, just know that Cemecraft colleted 8 more than necessary. when you hit the world 2 star-bit crystal, immediately go back through the world 1 portal and if you are fast enough, you will not collect them and the crystal will despawn

This challenge is easier if you use hand-held because you mis touch the screen or the star pointer disappears hence it is easier to avoid the starbits

In deeadnough galaxy you can skip the wall jump by doing a very precise jump at the very beginning of that section. You’ll enter the pipe and skip all the level
