20:35 Believe it or not, there’s actually a way to beat this level without touching a single coin, but you have to be super precise. First, you need to be Mini Mario, then when the platform starts turning left, activate the item inside your inventory and jump at just the right moment to clip inside the wall. It does sound difficult, but you’ll feel satisfied once you complete it.

Sadly that's not true. You can clip into the wall and get out but you get stuck. At least that was what happened according to a friend who tried it. By "get out" I mean you kinda get stuck in a moving block.

Nic! I actually managed to glitch through world 8- tower 1! I got the mega mushroom Mario I use it under the platform. And glitched through the roof!
Sadly, unless you have proof, it’ll be pretty hard to believe. The way that the mega mushroom works in this game is that if you use it in a tight space, you’ll be forced back to your normal size. You don’t glitch through solid objects.

Tip: To make this run easier, you would want to collect some star coins and I would like you to make the star coin counter increase as it does not add to the coin counter.
P.S. I like your "Only seven more to go! :-) Eh..." and "can we do it!" parts. The Goomba is not useless reasons keep increasing. I love your creativity even though you were unable to beat the game without collecting any coins.

Man Nico, tough luck on the whole impossibility thing. I recently tried a run of Super Mario Galaxy without getting any star bits, so I really appreciate even if the run ultimately fails just how much work goes into one of these videos. Keep up the good work man, you'll succeed at one of these eventually.

sort of, its inposible on the ds (you cant open doors) but on the 3ds since you have 2 up buttons it is possible (bit if you just hold up you never really have to crouch.
@@krakenthejaken it's possible on ds, you need to have fingers fast enough to keep that crouch animation, and from there let the door enter cutscene begin, then hold down and you're set.
@@theofficialchannelofoffici7962 permanently crouching simply means having the crouch button taped down. (in this case it's down on the d-pad)

You could have avoided Worlds 3, 4, 6, & 7 by taking the World 2-3 & 2-A secret exits to make it to World 5 and take the secret exit to the pipe and take the Ghost House secret exit to make it to World 8 and fail at 8-Tower.

@@ThePlushMarioBros2015 You'd have to wait until a red flying question block with a minimush appeared but it would theoretically be possible. Worst case scenario just beat the world one tower and go to the next level, which dispenses free mini mushrooms, after getting a blue shell on your item slot.

Btw for anyone that wants to attempt this, in 1-2, you have enter the level with small mario. At the beginning of the level, you are ground pounding on to a set of blocks that have coins under them. So if you’re small mario then you won’t break the blocks and be safe from the coins!
You can press up to cancel the ground pound

Man Ceave gaming’s new logo looks good!
I can explain 4-4, dashing allows you to cross one block wide gaps and since you're Mini Mario the decreased weight allows you to cross bigger gaps and since the game knows what momentum is, you keep your speed as well so you can continue dashing. In other words, Mini Mario + dashing = multi-gap travel with continued dashing.

At any rate someone should do a coinless run romhack ,leaving all coins where they are but it auto kills you when picking one up.
If theres really no way around the 8 -tower then remove that set of coins.

Oh, and it should offer an alternative way to get lives. Maybe make different difficulties. I'm envisioning them like this:
Super hard: Like a coinless run of the normal game, but with coins that can't be avoided with only skill (impossible or basically random chance) removed.
Hard: Impossible, random chance and pixel-perfect coins removed.
Medium: Impossible, random chance, pixel-perfect and some other extremely hard coins removed. 1-up mushrooms are more common.
Easy: Impossible, random chance, pixel-perfect and other very hard coins removed. 1-up mushrooms are way more common.
Nico: beats NSMB DS without collecting coins
Me: broke his DSi and hasn't beat 4-3 or 5-2

Mushrooms are so abundant they can be gotten anywhere, but if you were going to run through 1-1 anyway, what I normally do to “top up” my powerups is to get a flower in storage and be fire, since there are four mushroom/fire ? blocks there, not counting red coins and mega (that shrinks you to Super)
And What if you set the rules to allow you to take the cannon?
Also it would be nice to see a coin less TAS of completing this as quickly as possible!
