Cosmic cove galaxy is number one for me. Everything about it is so relaxing and it just matches the music perfectly. Climbing up frozen waterfalls is also pretty cool.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is my favorite video game of all time, and Cosmic Cove is a huge factor of it. When I first beat the game around 12 years ago, I somehow missed this galaxy entirely and just found it long after I beat the final boss. The fact that after this long series of awesome galaxies I had just missed one that knocked all the other ones out of the park (at least for me) solidified this game as perfect in my brain, and it stayed like that till today. I don't know why, but I absolutely love the topman fights, they are some of my favorite stars in the games. I remember being about 7 years old when this came out, and I was initially scared of Mario Galaxy because of those blue blobs that stick to Mario and drain his hp. Something about them just creeped me out
I was so happy when I saw cloudy court galaxy as number one it is so memorable and it's level design and decoration is amazing, one of my earlyist memories is watching my dad play this galaxy when the game first came out.
It just makes me want to DO THE MARIO SWING YOUR ARMS FROM SIDE TO SIDE COME ON ITS TIME TO GO DO THE MARIO TAKE ONE STEP AND THEN AGAIN COME ON ITS TIME TO GO DO THE MARIO (I’ve done that ten times today no joke)
When I was little I thought the brown planets in Gateway Galaxy was a peanut... (dont ask how, I just didnt notice the two planetoids weren't connected until I got older) So I called it the Peanut Reactor
Thank you so much for putting Toy Time in the top 5. It’s been my favorite in the series since I first played it in the early 2010s. My inner little kid loves it too much to ever forget it.
I personally really like the concept of Grandmaster Galaxy's Daredevil challenge. I beat it the first time 2 days ago and I enjoyed the fustration and rage. I really enjoyed since it's a perfect challenge for the ending of the game series. I spent in total 6 hours in it and I raged too much. But that is what I want from video games. They are not supposed to be too easy. More levels like this if you ask me
Very hot take: Slimy Spring Galaxy is my favorite out of both games. I think it’s really unique. I love the feel of it and the gameplay. And there’s something about the ending that I just absolutely adore. Perfect galaxy in my opinion.
ok but like gusty garden galaxy literally gives me goosebumps everytime i hear that track. easily the best piece that's been composed in recent mario, and with phenomenal level design, unique gameplay with the flower gliding, and cool planet shapes with a unique boss fight, easy no.1 in a (imo) close to perfect game
@@andreamenicatti1029 There are a lot of lack luster planets in the game, more specifically, those tiny floating planets in some of the less condensed galaxies that serve little to no purpose for any of the stars. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I love the catequacksa in gold leaf galaxy. In general I just think that they’re super cute and I’m glad they made a return
I hated Slimy Spring as a kid-swimming was stressful and hard as heck, so a _level_ full of it??? I should try and replay it though. Still don’t like really swimming, but I remember liking the atmosphere of swimming levels.
I completely agree. Slimy Spring had the best atmosphere in the game by far; coming out of the cave into the beautiful plains area with the glowing orange sky felt triumphant.

Hmm, I completed the boss blitz challange with almost a full minute time left and just 2 tries. Everyone seemed to struggle witj that one but it was so easy for me. But of course I sucked a lot in other galaxies where no one else did so that evens it all out xD
God the mere sight and hearing the names of all the Mario Galaxy 2 galaxies brought back so many memories I forgot I had. Seeing galaxies I visited so often during my childhood, remembering how damn hard the slide was for me at the time I played it, like god even just seeing the gameplay of it I can hear the background music to every last one playing in my head. Seeing something that have me joy all those years ago really makes me miss those days... Thanks for bringing back my memories of the game dude, it makes me really happy to know they're still within me after all these years...
I was waiting for Cosmic Cove Galaxy the whole list since that is my favorite galaxy out of both games and i keep on finding myself going back to that stage and the fact that it was placed number 4 was right tho i would have placed it at number 1 for more than one reason

My favorites are Buoy Base Galaxy and Space Storm Galaxy! Even though you didn't rank them that high, I do agree with your commentary. Thanks for acknowledging the GREATNESS of Buoy Base Galaxy's music! ❤💙💚💜 It surely sounds MAGNIFICENT and to be honest, I think that might also be a huge reason why I love the galaxy so much in its whole as well. I mean, I also like the lay-out of the galaxy, but yes, the star with the Torpedo Ted and Bullet Bill was that pretty short. Even so, I did like the level in which you had to climb the Buoy Base itself a lot, so even if it wasn't the galaxy with the longest levels, I did enjoy it very much (and kind of still do, whenever I listen to its music). 😀😀😀😀 Space Storm Galaxy isn't that high on the list either, but it's not bad. And you called it "a really great galaxy", which made me happy instantly, so you deserve that like of mine! 👍👍👍👍 I myself love the music of this galaxy too. 🎶🎶🎶🎶 The second level of Space Storm Galaxy literally was some sort of remake of Buoy Base Galaxy's. This made me have a mind-blow, because I had chosen those galaxies to be my favorites even BEFORE I had gotten to the second level of Space Storm Galaxy. 😲😲😲😲 I guess Buoy Base Galaxy and Space Storm Galaxy just must've gotten the same ENERGY for exactly those two to appear in the same galaxy! 😎😎😎😎

I remember being about 7 years old when this came out, and I was initially scared of Mario Galaxy because of those blue blobs that stick to Mario and drain his hp. Something about them just creeped me out
SAMEEEE
I was scared of the black holes
I was so happy when I saw cloudy court galaxy as number one it is so memorable and it's level design and decoration is amazing, one of my earlyist memories is watching my dad play this galaxy when the game first came out.
1:44 Oh, Yoshi was a Power up. I didn't knew that.
Wait what? Yoshi was in that level?
@@diegoviramontes2479 I think Yoshi was inside the crystal.
Who else hated life when your wii remote would die while playing it
Yes but it was even worse when your Wii remote or nunchuck started to become trash
6:43
Kristina OMG YES. My nunchuck started to have drifting problems and it makes the game so much harder
Me
It just makes me want to
DO THE MARIO SWING YOUR ARMS FROM SIDE TO SIDE COME ON ITS TIME TO GO DO THE MARIO TAKE ONE STEP AND THEN AGAIN COME ON ITS TIME TO GO DO THE MARIO (I’ve done that ten times today no joke)
When I was little I thought the brown planets in Gateway Galaxy was a peanut... (dont ask how, I just didnt notice the two planetoids weren't connected until I got older)
So I called it the Peanut Reactor
Lol. XD
Gateway or Good Egg? There is also a peanut in that galaxy
@@mikelbarrio9690 I mentioned it was gateway in the original comment
Thank you so much for putting Toy Time in the top 5. It’s been my favorite in the series since I first played it in the early 2010s. My inner little kid loves it too much to ever forget it.
I personally really like the concept of Grandmaster Galaxy's Daredevil challenge. I beat it the first time 2 days ago and I enjoyed the fustration and rage. I really enjoyed since it's a perfect challenge for the ending of the game series. I spent in total 6 hours in it and I raged too much. But that is what I want from video games. They are not supposed to be too easy. More levels like this if you ask me
This is one of the largest ranked video and I love it. Thank you nathanial for this vid. :)
Also, I really need to finish Galaxy 1 at some point.
I disagree with almost every part of this video, but I still loved it anyway
I appreciate that you can have a differing opinion but still enjoy the content and be respectful. Thank you for being refreshing.
Same.
same, my favorites didnt overlap but I liked the reasoning
yeah I think battlerock is WAAAAY too low, it’s probably in my top 10
Dreadnought was also way too low
Very hot take: Slimy Spring Galaxy is my favorite out of both games. I think it’s really unique. I love the feel of it and the gameplay. And there’s something about the ending that I just absolutely adore. Perfect galaxy in my opinion.
True. The sunset at the end is so beautiful !
@@Oubokhbaas41 I was gonna say the same! The ending is so peaceful
@@kirdna4079 Sad that it's underrated. I had searched some fan art of this sunset but I saw nothing interesting.
ok but like gusty garden galaxy literally gives me goosebumps everytime i hear that track. easily the best piece that's been composed in recent mario, and with phenomenal level design, unique gameplay with the flower gliding, and cool planet shapes with a unique boss fight, easy no.1 in a (imo) close to perfect game
The moment when you realize the video is half an hour...
@No_Way 1 nah i need to savour the moment
It was? Only felt like 10 minutes to me.
Then enjoy every second
Next: ranking every planet in Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
Well, i could works like a top 10 wrost/best video
@@andreamenicatti1029 There are a lot of lack luster planets in the game, more specifically, those tiny floating planets in some of the less condensed galaxies that serve little to no purpose for any of the stars. Top ten worst seems like it would be pretty difficult to make for reasons completely different than top ten best.
@@andreamenicatti1029 Yeah, NB should try that! Maybe even feature Nicobbq!
"Grandmaster galaxy is just a kaizo level"
Don't tell him about master quest
Have I just not gotten to the actual end cuz I don't remember a Grandmaster Galazy at all!!!
@@cristianrubcich9542 grandmaster galaxy is what you get for 100% the game after getting all the stars. I don't want to spoil stuff in case you don't know but if you want to unlock it you need to get all the stars in the game. Masters quest is a mod for the galaxy which is a supper buffed version of a level called the perfect run in grandmaster galaxy.
Oh god oh frick
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I love the catequacksa in gold leaf galaxy. In general I just think that they’re super cute and I’m glad they made a return
Slimy Spring is CRIMINALLY low. Easily top ten without even thinking about it.
I hated Slimy Spring as a kid-swimming was stressful and hard as heck, so a _level_ full of it???
I should try and replay it though. Still don’t like really swimming, but I remember liking the atmosphere of swimming levels.
I completely agree. Slimy Spring had the best atmosphere in the game by far; coming out of the cave into the beautiful plains area with the glowing orange sky felt triumphant.
what was it ranked
@@aidancampos4898 almost yes but seaside kingdom is better imo
It's incredible how Galaxy 2 is already 10 years old. I remember being 6 playing it for the first time. Damn, just damn..
I was 10 when I played it for the first time. I beat it in 4 days since the controls were the same than in Galaxy 1.
@@samyb4566 That's funny because it took me 9 years to get all of the stars
Togedemaru's Iridescence Well. I beat the main story in 4 days. After that, I played until I was unable to go further.
How old are you now
@@ryanamburgy2791 It's been 10 years so, 16, probably.
Things I realised Nathaniel likes:
- Well executed gimmicks
- SM64 references
- Bowser Jr fights
- Bees
- CLOUD MARIO
Things I realised I like
- WATER LEVELS
Seriously I adore every water-based galaxy so much. Also I'm with Nathaniel on the magma & ice ones!
I love Grandmaster Galaxy. Even though it’s hard, I had a blast playing it.
Let it be known once more:
I HATE STONE CYCLONE
Have you played boss blitz galaxy timer challenge yet
Hmm, I completed the boss blitz challange with almost a full minute time left and just 2 tries. Everyone seemed to struggle witj that one but it was so easy for me.
But of course I sucked a lot in other galaxies where no one else did so that evens it all out xD
Noobs I beat the perfect run
Woooooow. Your so great...
Ummmm how ‘bout the perfect run where you do the final level but with 1 hp
“Boulderguist is a great boss” *Mayro wants to know your location*
Love that Super Mario 64 “Throwback!” That, Fluffy Bluff, and Gusty Garden are my absolute favorites in the whole series!
2:59 Me: *laughs in touchscreen*
Aren't you on musescore?
God the mere sight and hearing the names of all the Mario Galaxy 2 galaxies brought back so many memories I forgot I had. Seeing galaxies I visited so often during my childhood, remembering how damn hard the slide was for me at the time I played it, like god even just seeing the gameplay of it I can hear the background music to every last one playing in my head. Seeing something that have me joy all those years ago really makes me miss those days...
Thanks for bringing back my memories of the game dude, it makes me really happy to know they're still within me after all these years...

I was waiting for Cosmic Cove Galaxy the whole list since that is my favorite galaxy out of both games and i keep on finding myself going back to that stage and the fact that it was placed number 4 was right tho i would have placed it at number 1 for more than one reason
right omg the music was so realaxing and i‘d literally sit there sliding on the ice for hours straight I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GALAXY
Nathaniel bandy deserves so many more subs! He puts charm, effort and time in all of his videos. He adds little skits and jokes in all of them too. He deserves over 1mill subs
Nathaniel: the blocks swap in and out to the music that’s genius
Geometry dash: am I a joke to you?
“It can be really frustrating when you die at the end of the level and have to start all over again.” Yeah, thats the point, it’s an optional challenging level, what did he think, it would be super simple and a breeze to complete? Of course it’s frustrating!

Goodbye medulla oblongata.
Puzzle Plank Galaxy's music alone puts it in my top five galaxies in the two games. It's like a sort of space bluegrass. The music for "Heavy Metal Mecha-Bowser" in Toy Time Galaxy is also up there.
You gotta admit though, the dreadnought looks really cool. I like the idea of going inside it. One of the coolest looking ones imo

Space Storm Galaxy isn't that high on the list either, but it's not bad. And you called it "a really great galaxy", which made me happy instantly, so you deserve that like of mine! 👍👍👍👍 I myself love the music of this galaxy too. 🎶🎶🎶🎶
The second level of Space Storm Galaxy literally was some sort of remake of Buoy Base Galaxy's. 😎😎😎😎
Mine was Sweet Sweet Galaxy. What could be more fun than running around through a giant cheesecake 😋
@@leociresi4292 I was quite young when I played Sweet Sweet Galaxy. Couldn't even finish of, so my dad did it for me. Then much later, when I played the game again with Luigi, it was SO EASY. 😂😂😂😂

Bouldergeist was my favorite level as a kid. I played that boss fight over and over again because I always had so much fun.
18:48 Freezeflame music is just okay? It’s one of the best Galaxy OSTs.
Nostalgia! I kept track of all the Galaxies and never forgot one because I know these two games like the back of my hand.

Fun fact with Buoy Base: Out of the 2 stars there, the green one will always be the second one no matter which one you get first.
