    Any type of fuel re-mapping typically decreases fuel mileage. Considering that you've also added more oxygen with the air filter and slip-on, you'll definitely be burning more fuel. -CK

      So, if one were to buy a power commander solely for the purpose of saving gas by downloading a fuel-saving mixture program, but the simple act of installing the power commander itself actually worsened the fuel economy, then what exactly would be the point of buying a power commander if you would not save fuel?

    the PCV allows you to change your ECU as desired. Autune allows the calibration to take place automatically as your engine goes through its normal cycles. You probably have already gained the benefit of performance by re-flashing the ECU, but you'll have more control over the fuel delivery with a PCV. -CK

    1:36 he says the bike will run cooler because it's not running lean. My dad also said that it's better for the bike to be running rich than lean because it will blow up the valve covers if it's running lean. Why is that? Wouldn't it run hotter and have more risk if there was MORE fuel in the combustion cycle, and not less?

    I'm not very educated in this product, but I'm interested in learning. I have a (bought new, that has 34k) 06 Suzuki SV650, KN filter, Delkevic slip on. I like and under stand what Alex is saying, but my question is whats, the cons (for my bike) I will notice? And (one more) I'm pretty sure I will need help in choosing what maps are for me. I live in Northeast Florida, but occasionally take my bike to "The Dragons Tail" in TN,NC so I'm sure I will need two maps. I understand the Auto Tuner will help that ride?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right now, your bike is probably running a bit lean, since you've changed both the exhaust and the air filter. With a Power Commander, you should experience less hesitance off idle as well as better throttle response overall. You may even gain a couple horsepower. There are only a handful of maps, and you can try any of them. I'd start with the map for either a Yoshimura or Two Brothers slip-on. As for different maps for Florida and the Dragon, you probably won't need to change maps, as the bike will still adapt a bit for changes in elevation. Therefore, you probably won't need the Auto Tuner either. -DrewZilla

      Wow, thanks (again) Drew. That's a big help to kill the fear of doing this myself. Not to mention the $ for a Commander is worth it to me, but the Auto Tuner too..? I feel the two, a little to much for the value of this age\miles for this bike. Big help!

    I have a 2012 Yamaha FZ1, and i am installing a Full Yoshi Exhaust with K&N Air Filter.
    ( I may be doing the butterflies mod and 'stacks' soon also.)
    I have purchased the PC-V, single channel Auto-Tune, and POD-300 --- from you guys, of course! (-;
    Is that all I will reasonably need to get serious boost for my bike? Do I also need the LCD Display or other 'add-ons' to go with these items? I do a LOT of mountain road twisties and open country road 'sweepers'... but am strictly a street rider and NOT a Racer! {My Track Days are simply to build my skills levels, and not to prepare for racing.] So I want STRONG mid-range acceleration more than high-rpm horsepower.
    Also, will I need to change the jets to give the PC more 'room for adjustment', or will OEM sizes work okay?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Floyd Burdett With a full exhaust system and high flow air filter, a fuel management system is the right move. If you want better mid-range, I highly recommend a larger rear sprocket; one or two teeth larger. The sprocket will make the biggest difference. You don't need to upgrade your injectors. -Hi-Viz Brian

    • @BucketWheat
      @BucketWheat 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      THANKS Brian!
      I am adding the PC-5 with the Auto-Tune and the POD-300 Module. (and maybe the Stacks and the butterflies modifications)
      Will that be all I need for a strong and consistent Street Bike -- and lots of mtn. twisties -- or do I also need the Ignition Module, or LCD Digital.. ?

    What if you changed the air filter and full exhaust on a Yamaha r3 and didn't put one of these in. For a weekend worrier? Would it be the end of the world? Not sure I'd notice I huge difference if I don't race it would I? Would it hurt the bike if I don't do this? Much appreciated any info.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really depends on the exhaust and air filter. While most Akrapovic and Scorpion exhausts are designed to be run with the stock tune, most full exhausts require a fuel controller. In addition to the exhaust, changing to a freer-flowing air filter will make the bike run leaner. This means the bike will run hotter, which is not good for engine life. If you increase air flow with an exhaust and air filter, you also need to increase fuel, so that you maintain an ideal air/fuel ratio. If you aren't going to install a Power Commander, though, then there's no need to change your air filter. An exhaust that doesn't require a fuel controller can still run even better when a fuel controller is added. Our very own Lemmy has written a few articles on the subject, so you may want to take a look. Hope this helps! -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Power Commander is a piggyback system, so it takes the stock ECU signal input and sends a modified output according to the fuel map that's loaded on it. If you have the stock fuel map loaded on the Power Commander, it won't change anything. -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the Power Commander, yes, it can be taken off a bike and used on another bike that's the same make/year/model. You can't take it off a Honda and put on on a Yamaha or take it off a CBR600RR and put it on a CBR1000RR. It has to be the same model of bike and be within the compatible model years. It's not a 'universal' item. Additionally, remember that it only modifies the bike's ECU as long as it is attached. Once removed, you're back to the stock ECU tune. -DrewZilla

I don’t want to change the exhaust or intake because I like it as it is, but will PC5 fix the snatchy throttle problem some Z900RS are having, including mine? Will it fix the lean running, although for that last question imagine it’s a yes. It looks like you only have one map for it as well at the moment. For a standard bike like mine, I guess it wouldn’t really need a run on the dyno?

      The Power Commander 5 should help with the snatchy throttle, even on a stock bike, as that seems to be a result of the really lean fueling right off idle. You can also improve lean fueling overall. It wouldn't need a dyno. -DrewZilla

    I'm pretty sure i'm going to buy a pcv for my 2017 honda grom. I went on the website like you said and looked at the maps and i'm not sure which is the best map for me. I only see 7 options. On my bike, I removed the air box snorkels, replaced the stock air filter with a K&N air filter, added the velocity stack, and added a full zoom exhaust. Any suggestions?

      You definitely can! The units for your bike are available here:

      www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dynojet-auto-tune-kit-for-power-commander-v
      That said, you would need to install an 18mm O2 sensor on your exhaust, which does require drilling and welding. We have the bung you would need here:
      www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/drag-specialties-weld-in-o2-sensor-bungs?sku_id=1215875
      However, for standard street use you should really be fine just using the Power Commander and a good map, rather than going through all that trouble to add the AutoTune feature.

      I know this is late, but for any people who have anything under 600cc's with a slip on you really don't need to waste the money on all this. You will see very MINIMAL gains, just not worth it. I had a ninja 300 when they first came out. Got the full yoshi r77, KN air filter street and just a mail in flash. Honestly the bike ran better with the stock exhaust and with each mod I really didn't notice a big enough difference to justify the cost. When I had my 09 750 that was stock and just added a KN air filter I noticed a big difference, especially with a flash and full exhaust compared to the slip on, cat delete before the full system, after the filter. My 17 gsxr 750 didn't notice much of a difference with the air filter this time, full yoshi- big difference. Higher cc bikes you will really get your money's worth if you build a bike for what you want to do with it.

      The Power Commander 5 is made by Dynojet. Bazzaz makes the Z-Fi. You may want to check again to be sure which one you have. If you have a Dynojet Power Commander 5, then you can use a Dynojet Quickshifter with it. -DrewZilla
