Nice video, I have shared TOP 5 benefits of skipping rope and workout tutorial in my recent video, feel free to check it here th-cam.com/video/yH5Np1-i22g/w-d-xo.html
1. Keep rope low (at hip height) 2. Keep rope tight (use wrists, not entire arm) 3. Warm up muscles and joints before starting to jump rope 4. Focus on the standard bounce before moving onto tricks 5. Find your rhythm (use music or count cadence)
For me, the problem was that i was hitting the back of my neck. I recorded a video of myself and i saw that i was having my hands too low, then i moved them near the waistline and it got fixed in no time. 3rd day of learning how to jump rope and today got like 10-14 skips at once :D
@@soulgameyt769 lol man just finished my second day. Yeah i was hitting the back of my head quiet a lot, ima try keep it at waistline but its inspiring to hear your improvement. Longest streak i have had is like 6 in a row
Mother of God, I never realized I subconsciously kept pulling my hands up. No wonder I end up tripping when I try to go fast. Thanks a ton for pointing this out. 👍🏻
This was a hard one for me too. Also, if you have a muscular imbalance in your body, like most of us do, you don't turn the rope with equal force or velocity on both sides. My left is weaker. I don't have that level of fine muscle control so my right hand does most of the work and that causes the rope to hit my left leg. Still working on strengthening the fine muscles in the left hand/arm and seeing improvement. Using a heavier rope has also helped.
It is very important. I have busted my calf muscle and now I haven't jumped for 3 days and it is still paining. I did 25 minutes and I did 300 jumps. Everything was ok till the next day when I got up and my legs were giving up on me. I have to use the knee sleeves to go to work.
Me too, all this while I thought jump rope is a warm up exercise, I used to do it for warm up before I run, now I found out I have to do other form of warm up before I jump rope for warm up....🤔😏
Ahhh, now I know why I trip up so much. Thanks for the tips. Makes sense too. I love jumping rope and I'm past 60 anyway. It's a good workout but I need to do my warmups first. The 10, 10, 10 rule is what I found most insightful. Keep jumping....

Can anyone tell me why my legs(below the knees) move backwards while jumping? I just can't jump up while doing jump rope, always my legs move backwards
Great video! I start tripping because of reason #1, every time I start getting fatigued I subconsciously pull my arms upward! Now that I recognize it I will shut it down!
Same I jump like a foot too high and hit myself in the head with the rope everytime lmao, gonna keep practicing tho I’ve always wanted to be able to jump rope like pro boxers ever since I was little

I just got my first 200 straight today. I dunno about the other things but keeping the rope tight and the keeping your wrist below waist and not moving it around too much are the golden rules.

One thing I have figured out after jumping rope is just how weak the left side of my body actually is compared to my right. My problem was I wasn't rotating the rope with my left hand enough and thus I was tripping on my left foot.
It's a whole combination of things. Like he said, keep at it and once you find your rhythm - it's pure bliss. I struggled immensely in the beginning and a week later, something clicked. Now it's 500 skips a day with trip ups every 20 skips. Getting there 👍🏻
It's my 5th day of jumping rope. Before today's workout I warmed up like you recommended... and I beat my personal record, at 150 jumps! Already I am seeing improvements in my body and my health. My calves are so much stronger and I am building my endurance! Thanks so much for sharing your tips!!

Amazing how the little details count. My rope was too long, so I made a knot on both sides and then, it was too short, I kept on tripping. So I just let one knot on one side and it's perfect now. Working on my grip and rhythm now. Thanks, dudes!

6. Don't spread out your legs. I noticed this was my problem when I started jump roping today. Kept my legs together, and presto, my number of trips reduced significantly.
Also!! Now that I got my crossrope I find myself barely tripping at all. Good size, good spin, and the intensity rope gets my heart pumping enough to where I barely need to warm up!
personally I like using latex to warm up the wrist since when you do a traditional workour, youre focused on seksi muscles like chest, abs, upper back, and deltoids (or is that last one just me?) And besides isn't jump roping mostly cardio 😂

Great to see people promoting skipping - the most underrated fitness activity. I'm almost 60 and you don't need a warm up - the skipping is the warm up. Just go slightly slower speed for the first few hundred. I do 100/30 seconds - not using a speed rope or steel rope. I do a few thousand each workout - I count every skip - the faster I skip, the easier it is to count.
@@JumpRopeDudes The routine is 1000 skips for warm up (5 x 200, or 10 x 1000 depending how I feel that day); 20 crunches after every 100 skips x 10 (= 1000 skips, 200 crunches) then 2 minutes rest, then same again, except with x 10 push ups. That's one routine. I would love to just skip, but I have a broken hip, ready for replacement this year :)
@Jump Rope Dudes I wanna give a huge thanks to this channel and especially this video!! I started really jump roping 3 weeks ago since the gym is closed due to pandemic. Because of this video and more from this channel, the tips have really helped me with my form and streak! When I started my streak was at maybe 15-20 single unders. After 3 weeks of practice, my streak is 100 or more. I jump rope about 1800 SU a day, broken up in between with body weight exercises and I feel great. I’m also doing intermittent fasting but not a strict diet. I know that because of these helpful videos, I’ve lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks time. I easily burn 600-700 active calories (per apple watch). Thanks again! Your defiantly making a difference.
I'm glad tricks aren't necessary because all I can do is the basic move but it's killer. It feels like the most effective movement in the gym and I lift/run etc. Fantastic site!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, DUDE. I was holding the rope with my hands positioned too high. That’s why the rope was messing up on my 6’6” frame. Now I’m half as good as you, which is saying a lot. I’m very pleased, thanks to you.
thank you so much for this. I've been tripping out recently, one of the reasons being I just can't do criss crosses. But I'll just keep on trying daily 🙌
Also zen dudes, my circle isn't a linear one when I even just do the regular bounce. Um idk how to explain but it's tilted to one side. Any help there? :3
That's actually why i came here -Ive' Been using the same rope for years. Afraid to cut it again becuase once it's too short no going back....other than to buy another and then cut based off of the short(er) one
Rope length is actually not as important as you think.. you end up adapting your style to the length of the rope.. look at floyd, dude is 5'8 and uses a 10 foot rope and these guys are 6'2/6'3 and use a 9 foot rope
Been fit forever, but jumping just a week. Bought Crossrope LE before watching any videos. Subscribed to JRD on day 2. Liked my first jump rope video today. Why this one? The Ninja kick!

I've been jumping rope for like six weeks, I eat well and the right portions everyday and I'm 15. Is it normal that I only see really slow changes on my body?
Having a light grip, listening to good upbeat music, not thinking to much and thinking of it like a dance help me jump for a long time. I love do one leg jumps and just alternating my legs
hello zen dude fitness, thank you for the post, it was very instructive. however, I still seem to be hitting my feet while I'm jump roping. Once I watched your video I was sure that the holding hands too high was my issue but that's not the case. do you have any other tips that might help me find out what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for your time
I used to jump rope a lot, but i recently just got back into it. I noticed that my knees hurt when i jump though. could this be because i haven't done it it in awhile?
I was holding the rope too high. Thanks for helping me find the problem and fix it. I have a cheap rope that keeps tangling, so the problem didn't 100% go away but it did get a lot better.
This has helped me so much, my issue was the first one. Never would have noticed that was the issue without this thank you so much. On to the next video!
Lol .. when their "warm up" sounds like my workout (do that about 3 times 👀) ... I won't even have the energy to do a good jump rope workout 😂😂😂 it's okay I'll just stretch... Also the other tips. I try to hold my rope low, even lower than normally .. still tripped from time to time. My rope deifnitely felt tight. Maybe I'm iust tried today because I jumped rope 4 days in a row now? 🤷♀️
I would add another three other reasons to the "you keep tripping over your rope". They are: 1. If the rope is too long or too short for your height; especially if the rope is too long. The length should be of appropriate length which is a hit and trial method. 2. If the rope is light weight. Some ropes are so feather-lite that there is no traction when the rope is swung around. 3. If the jumping surface is sloped and you are facing towards the incline. Solution: turn around and face towards the decline slope.

Thanks for sharing your routine, sounds great!! Keep doing the thing and have fun!!
I would love to just skip, but I have a broken hip, ready for replacement this year :)
started skipping rope.. so far best i did was 500 skips in 10 minutes..... will definitely get better
@Jump Rope Dudes
I wanna give a huge thanks to this channel and especially this video!!
The Hand coming above the waist line got me. Great Video!
I'm glad tricks aren't necessary because all I can do is the basic move but it's killer. It feels like the most effective movement in the gym and I lift/run etc. Fantastic site!
Charlie Sierra - nice! let's goo!
Bro the bad thing is tabt now i get tired i never trip i just ho for a while i need more stamina
Thank you, thank you, thank you, DUDE. I was holding the rope with my hands positioned too high. That’s why the rope was messing up on my 6’6” frame. Now I’m half as good as you, which is saying a lot. I’m very pleased, thanks to you.
George Polasky - my (tall) dude! Let's gooooo!
thank you so much for this. I've been tripping out recently, one of the reasons being I just can't do criss crosses. But I'll just keep on trying daily 🙌
JUST keep on going brother!
Also zen dudes, my circle isn't a linear one when I even just do the regular bounce. Um idk how to explain but it's tilted to one side. Any help there? :3
Hell yeah. This whole Jump Rope Dudes is an amazing project. Skipping rope is definitely fun and healthy
- Suggested Warm-up Routine -
20 Jumping Jacks
10 Squats
10 Front Lunges (5 on each leg)
10 Push-ups
Awesome video! I just started jumping rope to try and new form of cardio. Absolutely love it!
You never mentioned the length of the rope. That's the number one thing.
That's actually why i came here -Ive' Been using the same rope for years. Afraid to cut it again becuase once it's too short no going back....other than to buy another and then cut based off of the short(er) one
Rope length is actually not as important as you think.. you end up adapting your style to the length of the rope.. look at floyd, dude is 5'8 and uses a 10 foot rope and these guys are 6'2/6'3 and use a 9 foot rope
janskistar He has another video called "How to Jump Rope" I think? He explains how long the rope should be :)
I think the basic rule of thumb is, when holding down the middle of the rope with your foot, both ends should reach your armpits.
@Montañero Paisa Mine is too long.
Thanks for the tips. Where is the rope supposed to hit on the ground? Is it right underneath the feet or a couple inches in front of toes?
*wanna learn to jump rope for my warp up* *dude is telling me too warp up before jumping rope*
Same, i always jump rope to warm up
Remeber to warm up before you warm up

kishor kamble - or when not on the go!
I've been jumping rope for like six weeks, I eat well and the right portions everyday and I'm 15. Is it normal that I only see really slow changes on my body?
slow change is the best change - u dont want fast it wont last
thank you
Having a light grip, listening to good upbeat music, not thinking to much and thinking of it like a dance help me jump for a long time. I love do one leg jumps and just alternating my legs
Awesome! Keep doing the thing!!
hello zen dude fitness, thank you for the post, it was very instructive. however, I still seem to be hitting my feet while I'm jump roping. Once I watched your video I was sure that the holding hands too high was my issue but that's not the case. do you have any other tips that might help me find out what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for your time
all the tips are on this channel brother - keep watching the beginner videos and practicng thats all it is!
thank you for the quick response
started jumping again after years of not... these tips will be a big help tomorrow when i try again .. TY
Bo Borland - let's goooo!
I used to jump rope a lot, but i recently just got back into it. I noticed that my knees hurt when i jump though. could this be because i haven't done it it in awhile?
yes that is probably why - make sure you ease back into it :)
And dont jump to high and dont land on your entire feet
Good videos, what is a good mid high sneaker for jumping. What is your favorite to recommend in a mid high trainer?
Byron Hall - we like nikes.. basket ball shoes.. Pg's, kd's, hyper dunks... whatever you can get.
Are you coming to NYC
yes go to zen dude fitness on facebook - we have a meetup 6/3
This is a huge help for me as a beginner. Thanks!
no problem thanks jon !
nice one ....perfection good on you..
Abhishek Immanuel thanks for your support dude !
welcome...
dude you r really helping me ....
thanks bro! glad to help :)
I was holding the rope too high. Thanks for helping me find the problem and fix it. I have a cheap rope that keeps tangling, so the problem didn't 100% go away but it did get a lot better.
i get so frustrated! but i know it’s gonna take me some time 🥴
Great tips…thanks for that. Able to do 2 jumps after starting today. Hoping to get “there” someday ✌️
Is the rope touching the floor?
Always!
This has helped me so much, my issue was the first one. Never would have noticed that was the issue without this thank you so much. On to the next video!
Get it!
I like that dance move
all about having fun!
Where is this beautiful rural road?
Rural Pennsylvania
Lol .. when their "warm up" sounds like my workout (do that about 3 times 👀) ...
Hahahha thats what I was thinking
lol
Dudes how u don't have over a million followers is beyond me.. Subscribing and increasing my rope jumps.
Thank you so much!!!
btw, when i was jumping I was training for my black belt.. it was also the last time I saw my abs...
I would add another three other reasons to the "you keep tripping over your rope". They are:
Solution: turn around and face towards the decline slope.
wasssssuuupppppp pppppllllaaaayyyaaaazzzzzzzzzz !!!!
