  • Timing Chain or Timing Belts Stretch can be super Bad for an Engine, It can result in catastrophic failure! So by Having The Use of VCDS we can have a look at the engines stretch straight away!

      Audi was always wrong... It has never been just degrees but degrees Celsius 🤣

      no wonder his car is having trouble, his timing chain is frozen!

    I do not have camshaft adaptation intake, I have Camshaft slope position, but it shows 0°. How can I find it in my VCDS?

    • @megalodononwheels

      Hi, I am unsure :( unfortunately I only know of the one way, my car does not read VCDS with CAN bus so I can't even play around and try to find it :( but I will keep my eyes open if I find a way 🙌

    My 2011 audi avant wagen 2.0L TSFi had timing chain, tensioner.and guides replaced at 68,175 miles I now have 110,000 miles my VCDS reading for Camshaft Adaptation Intake Bank 1 Phase shows -.55 Is this concidered a normal reading?

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not so familiar of how much it should be after a certain amount of miles. All I know is where it gets risky 🤣 but if you have the revised tentioner and guides, I don't see why this will not be correct 👌

    any way to diagnose camshaft variator ?

  • @TechnicaX
    @TechnicaX ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What’s the positive range mean. Say you have a 5.50?

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohhhhh never heard of that but I could Imagine it means your timing is not right, maybe to far in advance 🤷‍♂️

    hey, i have an 1.6 FSI with Timing Belt , not Chain, and at Camshaft Specified value is 0 and Actual value is -0.5 but the Phase Posision is between +6.0 and 7.50 all the time, with +, it might be a problem or it might be the cause of kind of rough idling ? it means the variator might be a little in advance? Thanks so much

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hallo 🙌 I don't have to much info on the phase position I will need to look into it. But by the look of your cam positions it should be fine 👌 let me do some reaserch on what phase position is and I will get back to you.
      Also what you can try to do is remove the oil cap slowly when the car is ideling and feel if there is a lot of suction on the cap. If there is then you have a air leak somewhere that is causing the suction. By the oil cap there must be a blow and suck motion then you know it fine, not just a suck suction pulling the cap down (for your rough ideling)

    • @Pete2ong
      @Pete2ong 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@megalodononwheels thank you so much for the info, there is no suction on that oil cap , i had one problem with air leak because of PCV Valve and replaced the rubber membrane, now works better but at every 2 seconds seems like something is wrong and Lambda tries to equilibrate the mixtura air-fuel, because i see on channel 002 hte Ignition Angle is changins between 3 and 18 degrees, and its not stable ( i saw it should be stable at 15 degrees ) my engine is a 1.6 fsi BAD from VW on Golf mk4, thanks for hints, injectors looks fine on 015 and 016 channel.

      hi, I am not sure what it might be then. have you ever done software on your car? It is normal for your timing to jump around but maybe with 4 or 5, not 15 degrees lol that is a bit to much. I wonder if its not your MAF or MAP sensor.

    • @Pete2ong
      @Pete2ong 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@megalodononwheelsit might be MAF , sometimes i see 1.4g/s and works kind of bad, and other time the MAF gives 2.1g/s and works well...

    My wife's b8 q5 just passed 87,000 miles. I checked the timing and it showed -26.08... is that possible? Maybe skipped a toot or something? Maybe broken guide..?
    Thanks

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope it is a error with a sensor or something because if it is accurate then it is really bad 😱 have you noticed anything on the engine? Like a rough idle? Poor performance, bad fuel efficiency? Struggles to start? Those are some symptoms of timing being out.
      It could be any of the things you mentioned aswell as the tentioner.

    • @Josh-oz6us
      @Josh-oz6us ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@megalodononwheels Yea, it's definitely been running funny. Threw a bunch of codes which had be thinking the timing chain had stretched or something. But if -5 is in need of replacement wouldn't -26 be underivable ?

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that is not good, i would really suggest to stop the car until someone can have a look for you. 🤕 Also it depends on what caused the damage and how much tention is still there, lets say half of the guide broke, then there is still tention, not enough to fall of but just has a lot of slack...
      Also in some cases engine builders will actually set your exhaust gear a tooth back to take it from an efficient cam to a high performance cam.
      So I would say till this far you are very lucky!

      Reason is because you’re probably using imperial system instead of metric. I was getting 26* as well and switch to metric and went to -3.2*. That seemed more like it because my car runs perfectly fine. Hope that helps!

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I buy the car 3 months ago, i dont know the previus owner doesent told me nothing about the timing chain, only the turbo and water pump. In the service book nothing about timing chain. The car have 104.500km and Is a 04-2014.

      just bought the exhaust camshaft central magnet was having problems, (p0011) I replaced them both including the internal mechanical valves. after this no problem, no rattle noise classic of a stretched chain. Sometime i have the p0151 but i dont know why, after installig a hg-motorsport oil catch can kit it happend, now is 2/3 weeks this fault is not coming out.

      Is there any weird vibrations at idle? Does the car jerk when accelerating?
