- I go through and compare two very similar looking MK8 Golfs from Volkswagen! Both cars I have had a recent experience with and I wanted to share my thoughts about the two model variants with you all!

Front bumper wheels and tail pipes look diff interior is nice, considering one
Great video Sam definitely worth having an R Line shown on your channel for those who aren’t looking for performance but a great relaxed driving experience. I recommend R lines to many as I think they’re worth the price and are better looking than the Gti in my opinion especially that grey color and a good family hatchback.
I'm ecstatic with my mk8 R-Line. My car (110kW, 150ps engine) feels like a V8, imho.
There is a difference in the logos. The R-Line logo has an outline of the R, whereas the R has a solid R. At least it's subtle (I didn't like the R-Line logo on the previous generation) but, either way, I think the new logo is incredibly elegant and more sophisticated.

Thank you, came on here to see if I’d made a mistake getting the R Line not the R. Got mine on Monday, 23 plate, brand new, it’s been rained on😕, Moonstone, absolutely love it. Yes, poor man’s equivalent but only because I’ve got to start paying for it!

I love the r line. The bumper is definitely different on the front
The R Line has got the front bumper from the GTI. Only the R has got that specific R front bumper.
I’ve a 21plate RLine 2.0 diesel. 45k miles. Hasn’t missed a beat but the software is awful. Had loads of issues. Been back twice. Aside from that, it’s a great car.
Thank you for sharing your ownership feedback! I have also heard and experienced problems with the MK8 screens but I have heard very recently that updates have helped with this. It is likely the MK8.5 facelift Golf will change the infotainment I believe and add back in some physical buttons too 👍

R Line bumper looks more like the GTD, GTE and GTI bumper in my opinion, just without the honeycomb pattern.
If all 10 trims from the whole lineup were in front of me and all were completely debadged, I’d be able to recognise the R first.
The R is easily the most distinguishable of the performance Golf lineup, very unique bumper, followed by the GTI Clubsport.
The GTI Clubsport bumper is like a combination of the GTD, GTE, GTI and R bumpers. Has the honeycomb pattern of the three GT models combined with the fins of the R, only the fins on the Clubsport are smaller and angled a bit lower.
The GTD, GTE and GTI all have the same bumper, and so each would only be distinguished by the coloured strip along the front. Red for GTI, Blue for GTE, Grey for GTD.
The R Line looks similar to the three above, but without the honeycomb, and also has some fake fin designs incorporated on the grill to make it look more similar to the R.
The entry level Life and the Style have similar grills, only the Style has some chrome detailing on its grill.

I have a 7.5 R Line..all the points you made are spot on..a couple of mods and car is amazing..to look at and to drive..difference in overall cost no brainer..

I have an R on order.
I don't really care if the R-line looks the same.
Its not really a big deal for most people I think also. What's under the engine and the components that make up the full R is worth the extra 👍

If someone mistakes an R line for an R, I wouldn't value their opinion much anyway. That's what I mean when I say I really don't care if they look similar.
@@consideredthoughts1791 I bought an R-Line recently. Not because it looks similar to the R because I personally don’t think it does. However, it offers lots of extras over the style that would have cost me a lot more in add-ons than it would have just buying the R-Line outright with everything already included.
The grey R line seats look better than the blue R ones.
I found it really strange that it was so similar! The grey is actually more in keeping with the MK7 R seats so it looks really good in the R-line
The Rline is a poor man’s golf R
Depends on what perspective you have. I bought an R line because I loved all the features and extras but didn’t want a beast of an engine as I’d be off the road in two weeks! Insurance here would be insane as well for a car I wouldn’t get to drive fast a lot.
@@BASSER81also why would anyone want to pay £48k for a well specced golf when the competition is so much better. The R-line is perfect for a daily.
Yeah it’s a standard car engine wise but has all the extras internally. People are quick to judge variants on what “they” want-not what others want
MK7 shape is better imo, yours especially being a 3 door manual, perfect
