  • Welcome to the official Leasing.com channel, your ultimate destination for unbiased automotive reviews and insightful information! In this comprehensive review, we delve into the world of the VW Golf, answering the burning questions: Is the VW Golf a good car? How much does a VW Golf cost in the UK? And is the VW Golf truly better than the A3? Brace yourself as we unveil the truth behind the 2020-2021 VW Golf.
In our quest to provide real-world insights, we handed the reins to our trusted automotive expert, Howard Ritchie, who ordered a basic 2.0 TDI Golf 8 with the smallest wheels and the least specification available. This allowed us to experience the Golf in its most modest form, reflecting the needs and preferences of everyday drivers. The specific variant Howard reviewed was the Golf 8, Life 2.0 TDI with 115PS, equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and boasting 5 doors.
Over the course of a week, we put the Golf to the test, assessing its performance, fuel efficiency, and overall practicality. With the 110 hp diesel engine under the hood, the Golf delivered an impressive range of 50-58mpg, showcasing its exceptional fuel economy. This efficiency, combined with its responsive handling and comfortable ride, made the Golf a reliable and enjoyable companion for everyday driving.
But the Golf's appeal extends beyond its fuel efficiency and driving dynamics. Step inside, and you'll discover a thoughtfully designed cabin that exudes quality and functionality. From the comfortable seats to the intuitive infotainment system, every detail has been meticulously crafted to enhance your driving experience. The Golf's interior offers ample space, both for passengers and cargo, making it a practical choice for families and individuals alike.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room: pricing. The VW Golf comes with a range of options and trims, allowing you to tailor your purchase to your specific needs. In the UK, the pricing for the VW Golf varies depending on the chosen specification, additional features, and customization. Our website, Leasing.com, offers comprehensive information on current pricing and lease options for the VW Golf, ensuring that you find the best deal that suits your budget.
Furthermore, we aim to settle the debate surrounding the VW Golf and its rival, the A3. Through our review, we provide a fair comparison, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each vehicle, ultimately assisting you in making an informed decision based on your personal preferences and requirements.
So, if you're seeking answers to whether the VW Golf is a good car, its pricing in the UK, or how it stacks up against the A3, this comprehensive review has got you covered. Join us on this captivating journey as we uncover the truth behind the 2020-2021 VW Golf. I have got a golf 8 mine is one of the first uk cars and I love it
I had a mk 7.5 before and can see the upgrades to the car after you are used to it the dashboard is really easy to use and the functions are familiar to Volkswagen owners
    Love the new virtual cockpit
I love the new drivers aids and am happy to keep my family safe

Cracking review. I just got a style for my company car and I've never driven anything like it. It's not the kind of car you look back at when you've parked up. But I can see why golf owners stay so loyal.

When the Golf 8 came out in 2020, in Ireland there was a trim called the 'Golf', it has steel wheels and was removed in 2021, it had a smaller screen with a volume knob and a tuner knob.

  • @Oosh21

I want to like it and I'm no luddite but remain deeply skeptical of the interior changes to the MK8.
However, your counterpoints to the current narative are well received and I'll reserve judgement until I can get my hands on one.
For the record, I bought a MY16 Golf R off the back of your old review. Objectively the best car I've ever owner but lacked je ne sais quoi.
I would have kept it but my kids' legs are too long so I'm now in a fully-loaded MY19 Arteon R-Line. It's a bigger plusher Golf R trying to be an A5 45 Quattro.

I just set temp and leave it, however i just ask voice control to turn it down if i am too hot etc. Lovely to drive 130ps is economical too.

It’s Radar, not Lidar. It’s a very simple system that allows the vw to sense the car in front. Lidar is completely different, scanning the whole area in fron of the car and in some cases all around so the car can ‘see’ not just vehicles but obstacles

Have just come across this video. Result of the poll Customers right VW wrong as the manufacturer admits that the recent VW cars have been a joke. So now we go back to (some knobs), a backlit slider for the air con and volume controls on a bigger screen in your eye line and the end of the haptic buttons on the steering wheel in place of, yes, buttons. Some progress is progress too far.

  • @svlagonda7417
    @svlagonda7417 ปีที่แล้ว

0:07 I actually hate the stitching on the inside of the steering wheel. So unpleasant to hold. Have to agree with the lack of buttons and switches - really bad decision as it no longer allows you to change touchscreen 'buttons' quickly as there's no tactility to them.

I'm not saying that it isn't good or that those two funds you mentioned are the only ones. But €42M is approx 0.6% of €7+ Billion. So, a drop in the ocean and less than one of VAG's senior board partners gets in renumeration and stock options in a given year. So...

I have to admit the it's a fine looking car on the outside. As for the interior, it's all very black and grey. Maybe it looks like it might have been inspired by a nun.

In respect of auto pilot, the question to ask is what proportion of drivers would feel safe taking their hands off the wheel, especially at speed where the consequences of failure could be catastrophic. Also , why bother? How difficult is it to hold the wheel with one hand whilst on cruise control. Auto pilot has a high hurdle to overcome in terms of driver reluctance . Its appears to be something Tesla are pushing to justify their tech image.

It is rediculous to compare a Volkswagen Golf and a Tesla Model 3! They are both catered to completely different and opposite level of consumer. A golf is supposed to be the peoples, a car that is familiar, has form and function but that is also utilitarian in its ease of use.
A Tesla on the other hand is supposed to be a car that takes your thoughts of what a car should be on a drawing board and wipes the slate clean. It is a car that sets the standard on interior technological advancement and progression which is never really what the Golf was until now
