A friend bought a BYD Seal earlier this year and he mentioned on the test drive that the indicator stalk wasn't on the side he was used to, coming from driving his ID3, the sales person said that they change that for his car and upon the delivery of his they did indeed change the indicator stalk as he requested. Its an amazing bit of kit especially for that price and range.
Unbelievable. I thought you were right hand drive in the UK. Therefore, indicator stalk should be on the right. Always has been, unless you have a poorly converted LHD car from a European manufacturer that couldn't be bothered moving it. In Australia you get very cranky if the indicators are on the left. Japanese, Korean, and when we made our own cars Australian cars have ALWAYS had indicators on the right.
I have owned the AWD Seal for 10 months now and absolutely love it. Missed in the video you can control temp and fan speed from the steering wheel and 3 finger swipe on the main screen. I have the V2L (bi-directional changing) plugged into my solar system to give me over 6 Tesla powerwalls of extra backup storage. It’s so good I’ve given my electric meter back and gone off-grid (videos on my channel)
@@triplex7144 It’s called V2L but I have it plugged into my Solar system like a generator input. Been using it to run my house at night for 10 months. Did you watch my videos on how it worked?
When you buy an EV you buy the EV with the better battery…BYD blade battery is a 1 million mile LFP battery.. They are the only batteries manufacturers that can pass the nail penetration test.. ie if your car was to be in a major accident you will not be turn into a charcoal..
The seal has some compatibility issues with chargers, charges 10-80% in 40 minutes because of bad thermal management and is way more power hungry. The iD.7 does 10-80% in 28 minutes and uses less power than a Model 3... The Seal would still be my pick but if you add the very VERY bad drivers assistances, you have to be a real fan of BYD not to prefer the iD.7. I hate that considering I work at a BYD dealership and people know damn well we don't make the best cars. 800V is coming soon tho in the new Seal and the Sea Lion 07 ! I hope they will make the drivers assists better and add Matrix lights (don't think they will)... For now I'm pretty decieved of what I'm selling... I wanna go to NIO but they don't exist in France nor in Switzerland...
Seal in design spec is a much fairer comparison (44k vs 65k for the Id7 as tested). It has everything the excellence has except the heads up display and adaptive dampers. It’s ‘only’ RWD, but has 308bhp and 0to 100km in 5.9 secs, which is more than adequate and quicker than the id7. So definitely go for the design instead of the excellence unless you REALLY need the AWD. I bought mine in Apr. Indicator stalk is on the left. Recent OTA gave wireless Apple CarPlay which works faultlessly. Also 3 finger scroll up/down or left/right on any screen allows you to select temp or fan speed respectively. OTA’s have also massively improved the ADAS and binging/bonging that plagued the car initially. BYD seems to listen to customers feedback, and are very fast to roll out OTA improvements. Also it has 6 year warranty with 8 years on the battery and drive train. IMO, it’s absolutely amazing, and much cheaper and better value (for what you get) compared to anything else in the D segment, including ICE cars.
When it comes to a Battery powered cars, I trust a battery first company than a ice car first company. Too much at stake here, byd is the logical winner even if they priced it the same.
You are reviewing an older version of rhe seal. The indicator stalks are on the correct side in post 2023 models. And also has wireless android auto and carplay. There are a bunch of improvements that have been made with the ota updates. Its a pleasure to drive the seal. Dublin to galway and back (420km) and still had about 10% battery, mind that most of the drive was at 120kmph with four passengers and luggage. If you're driving at lower speeds, you can easily get 520+ on the rwd in summer.
Fun fact - say hi BYD my bum is cold and Hi BYD I am hungry 😅 also car play is now wireless and indicator is on the correct side. Also you can adjust temp with swiping 3 figures on screen and through cluster 😊
It's ok stating the price difference between these but not many are going to buy these outright are they? You look at the lease price for these (in UK) and there is no comparison between them. The ID7 can be leased for no down payment for both types of vehicle for £375 over 24 months the seal is way dearer (way over £500 nearer £600) so for me the id7 is a better car and leasing between the seal and id7 absolutely no brainer.
Is a very good comparison. Get to see the ID7 is really a big car. But there are cost cutting areas for RHD models, the glovebox compartment is a very obvious tell tale sign of it where the fuse box took up half of the space whereas LHD models get a full size glovebox compartment
You could improve the consumption on the ID.7, if you would have choosen the smaller wheels. But the ID.7 is a great cars as well as the Seal. And if I would buy a Seal, I would also go for the option with one motor and 300+ hp. That would be easily enough for the day to day drive. Even the 286 hp from VW are enough. Good video 😊
I do understand everyone who prefers the cheaper car but it is clear why the ID7 is more expensive. The ID7 charges faster, has better light, better damping and is the bigger car with a higher build quality. While having an accident I would always prefer to sit in an ID7 over the BYD Seal. That does not mean that die Seal is not a good car but it has its reasons to be cheaper.
please stop saying the indicator is on the wrong side.. it's on the correct side.... RHD indicator on right side!!... you've grown up from those lazy european LHD companies didn't want to convert the steering column when making RHD cars..... also VW NMC batteries can only good for 80% most of the time.... whilst BYD LFP are good for 100% all day everyday
Now, Korean society has realized that when a Benz and a Chinese battery are combined, they become a grenade, and everyone is expressing great anger. It seems that measures will be taken soon. Explosion video: th-cam.com/video/L4bA-eqA5VQ/w-d-xo.html

It has vehicle to load not vehicle to house.
Nice, well done

ID7 is a yawn fest! So boring to look at. Might be comfortable but I know which one i would buy and save 12k
Decision made! Ordering my Seal and going with Sineads suggestion of the design model.. great video 👌

@@achaz_ BYD knows battery they took the slow charge time in favor of a longer lasting 1 million mile battery life…IMO thats the right choice…
What a wonderful entertaining and helpful comparison test, thanks a lot!
I had a blast, go on with the great work! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
the upcoming Sealion 7 will be direct comparison to ID7

Of course its better value in costs, made in China + china government subsidies ... vs made in europe.
@@BobBaumeister-g8v so chinese gov't is giving money to european customers.... what's wrong with that?
Not a fair comparison. Byd is 10K less. In Australia leather seats in the premium edition.
When it comes to a Battery powered cars, I trust a battery first company than a ice car first company. Too much at stake here, byd is the logical winner even if they priced it the same.
it has wireless car play with the new update
I don't understand why new videos showing any BYD are still saying that they don't have wireless carplay. I have wireless carplay in mine. 😑
Top notch review - thank you for being totally natural on camera 😊
IMO, it's way better than CarWow, where a 50-year-old man jumps around like a toddler, trying to play cute.

Front compartment : 'fartment'. I have the AWD version. It is a lovely car, great range.
Fartment! 😂 We might need to steal that for future reviews.
I'd suggest you need to put the same person in the back seat for each car, to do a proper comparison of space.
Fun fact - say hi BYD my bum is cold and Hi BYD I am hungry 😅 also car play is now wireless and indicator is on the correct side. Also you can adjust temp with swiping 3 figures on screen and through cluster 😊

Glad to see Cinch are providing an aftersales service even if the prep dept is lacking.
The rwd byd is nearly 20k cheaper than the id7 you were driving with plenty of spec.. very easy choice for me
The female presenter is just lovely. I own the Seal, and it will always win 😊
I really am not a fan of the ID screens, they look like someone stuck a child’s tablet on to the dash

trailer hitch on the ID.7 is 1200kg, on the BYD Design is 750 kg, but on the Excellence model it is 1500 kg :)

100 hp is more than enough. Plus Chinese quality is non existent.
Whut ? Chinese quality is non existent ? I'm assuming you never drove a Seal.

Those prices - *"after grants of course"* - are crazy.
The design module in Australia costs 33,000 Euro. Imagine if you had this pricing in Ireland.
Who will be able to afford these cars with prices of over 60k euros for the cheaper trim? In what world do they live?
‘Shut the front door’ 😂

4:15 a bit of Harry Potter 😁
63k vs 45k and Crossover hatch vs saloon ... why do you think this is a fair review? You may as well throw in a Porsche Taycan for the fun of it
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Volkswagen quality and Support all day

In electric cars, the EMP at the driver seat is so high it's right off the scale at the driver seat, which can't be good for you long-term.
🤦🏽♂️
what is the difference of the price between those two?
