BYD being a Chinese company actually is the acronym for BI YA DA, that’s the real Chinese name. However they use the acronym to create a tagline Build Your Dreams, like LG uses the tagline of Life’s Good. However LG real name is Lucky Goldstar!
Wow, for the price, the interior looks very premium! And functional too, love that BYD kept many physical controls, unlike the annoying user-unfriendly Teslas.

Fantastic presentation, really enjoyed it. As an Atto 3 owner of a few weeks, we took a close look at the Dolphin (and about ten other EV's!) when deciding what to pick up. I'm kind of hoping they give me a Dolphin as a loan car at my first service :) Also, I think the button on the right of the gear selector is the "Park" gear, not the Electric Park Brake. For some reason the BYD's have a "P" for Park and a "(P)" for Electric Park Brake / Hand Brake. Even more confusing, selecting the Park gear activates the Electric Park Brake!
A very nice little car and a great review. I have seen them in China but I haven't had an opportunity to drive one yet. Unfortunately, here in Canada the only EVs that are available are American or Korean, and I am not interested in any of those products. Chinese cars haven't made it to Canada yet, but when they do it looks like I will have to buy one for the government (100% Canadian tarriffs) in order to buy one for myself.
I like the chinese models but they lack of tech for european roads (to slow charging, not convincible software) and unfortunately they are very expensive in Europe. They will not succeed if they try attack the premium segment (what they mainly try). Really liked the interior and the build quality. They have definitely the potential to suceed and I am happy that they are already accepted in Australia! Very cute video!
I want to fly to China and buy one and ship it to NC. Who know whether is it feasible? will i pay the tariff? if yes, how about i buy one from Australia?
Yes, you can . But you have to do the car maintaince repair service yourself in USA before BYD has built a dealer network in USA. I am from Shenzhen, China and would like to help you as I can. You can go to China by 144 hours free transfer visa and go to the BYD shops ,test drive and buy your car.
you are lucky that your country allow BYD.. In America our politicians want to ban BYD for silly reasons. Is BYD getting popular in Australia compared to other brands or they still have a long way to go to make people want to buy it?
They just released the byd shark pick up. So alot of the anti china will change their mind. Yous have to remember Australian media is owned by usa and Australia government propaganda is funded by the usa N.E.D AKA the cia. The like of sky news owned by Murdock from fox. So there is alot of anti china news but the people don't care. They care about their bank account.
Plus Australia sells 3 billion in lithium every month to china. And they sell iron ore and wheat and other minerals. So it would be stupid for Australia to put tarrifs or restrictions. But you never know about yt people hypocrisy/hypocrites.

BYD being a Chinese company actually is the acronym for BI YA DA, that’s the real Chinese name. However they use the acronym to create a tagline Build Your Dreams, like LG uses the tagline of Life’s Good. However LG real name is Lucky Goldstar!
You need two things
1. Home wall box charger
2. Upgrade your tires go to a tire specialist that knows about EVs.
The original Linglong tires are so that bad. But I will probably change when they are worn out.
Wow, for the price, the interior looks very premium! And functional too, love that BYD kept many physical controls, unlike the annoying user-unfriendly Teslas.
what a delightful aussie review. interested to hear you try out something a bit bigger like the new Xpeng G6 or even comparable like the MG4. but BYD killin' it. maybe even the Seal?
thanks for watching!
Today I learned about the “Three Finger Salute” for the AC :) Have an Atto but the Dolphin seems like a pretty cool car….
I'm sad, because I can't get one in the USA.
Car companies should pay you to do a space review of their latest car 😄
Looks like a car with cubby holes and little storages everywhere is really made for you !
imagining if this is from Japan or German. How much extra would they ask you to pay for those lux features!! Chinese will be dominating the ev car in next decade for sure. One more point dophin is the lowest line of byd fleet. Even that they gives so much.
I was shocked when i.close the doop. A bih Dhoop sound similar to.a German car sound and not the flimsy Japanese Kei Car sound.
@@truthful3777As a Chinese, we think Japanese cars the moving coffins and not reliable enough because they use the thin cheapest metal housing. When the European, American ,Chinese car had a car crash against Japanese cars ,the Japanese cars are always the most damaged cars. Japanese car companies are good at cheating consumers and then they will apology . What a fuxk !
That's because you're paying for the cost of living of the workers and their high wages China relative to those nations have very low cost in terms of standard of living and not very high wages and have a weak currency versus their competitors
It is against the interest of gas and other parties, despite there is enough funding but the local US authority will not install charging stations, they will delay it.
There is already a huge network of EV charging stations in the U.S., constantly expanding
Same way airlines teamed up to lobby against building better rail system for public transport.

A very helpful car review. Hopefully BYD can launch a 7-seater van or SUV soon in OZ😀
that is nice sound system
Chinese cars haven't made it to Canada yet, but when they do it looks like I will have to buy one for the government (100% Canadian tarriffs) in order to buy one for myself.
looks so amazing
Great video, would you ever return an ICE?
I've had an BEV for 18 months and would never return.
I think byd should be Beyond your dream!😊
Sad, we don't get it here in Canada.
I love the Color of your seats (purple like)
Nice video
Looks very nice car.
Benetton colours take me back 40 years
Hey i'm indonesian 🇮🇩
And i love this video 😁
Oi, tudo bem? Como estão as coisas aí na Austrália? Aqui no Brasil esse carro vende muito.
Who know whether is it feasible? will i pay the tariff? if yes, how about i buy one from Australia?
i don't know but someone did the same in Germany (he bought VW cus in China VW are so much cheaper) and the police fired the car cus illegal
Ford CEO drives a Xiaomi. Maybe he should tell everyone why he is able to drive a Chinese EV but others can't.
Yes, you can . But you have to do the car maintaince repair service yourself in USA before BYD has built a dealer network in USA. I am from Shenzhen, China and would like to help you as I can. You can go to China by 144 hours free transfer visa and go to the BYD shops ,test drive and buy your car.
mexcio
you are lucky that your country allow BYD..
Good info. Great sharing.
Hey
Have you seen scratches in plastics inside the car?
Any battery degradation within one year? (less miles per charge)
Thanks!
Neither of those so far, although I’ve been reasonably carefully with the plastics but I also tend to use my car like a Swiss Army knife and thrash it with stowing and carrying items. I’m sure it could scratch but no accidents with major scratches and still looking good so far :)
My black interior looks still as new after 14 months (35,000 km). I had my concerns about that foam-like part below the dashboard but also this looks still very good. I also cannot notify any battery degradation. I will ask my dealer for a battery test when the 40,000 service is due.
Hi
Can you upload a photo of this foamy part below your dashboard. I was thinking exactly the same thing , so since you're running with dolphin over the past 34k km you have something valuable for a potential buyer :)
Many thanks!
I also have one, the piano black plastic inside and outside gets superficial scratches like usual, other than that its solid.
@@zzz-pe3mp No problems with my Dolphin.
17:57 your rear lamp is fogging. You should be able to perform warranty claim from BYD SC. At least that's what we can do in Malaysia BYD SC.
Believe it or not, BYD was just three **random** letters used by the founder initially to be the brand name. At the time he had no idea whether his company could survive. Build Your Dreams on the car body is indeed goofy.
Never heard of this company before but seems like a nice EV. How much did it cost?
13000+ USD for a base model in China. But I head it's much expensive elsewhere.
In Australia, around 38K AUD
@@EllyAwesomeTech converted into USD that’s about what I paid for my 2020 Toyota Camry. Used after taxes and fees. That’s not bad at all. Btw great review, was surprised by how responsive the touch screen is. Mines lags a little and isn’t as smooth. It’s actually a little clunky.
@@coolorochi Meanwhile about the same price in Thailand, made in Thailand. I assume, that Australia will get also the cars made in Thailand.
BYD is very big in Evs and will soon surpass Tesla (in sales numbers, but also in technology). BYD is top for battery technology. They startet as a battery company, bought later a car manufacturer ans started producing EVs in 2005.
The US's HR 1157 told me driving this car makes you hate democracy and love autocracy. This is why they banned it.
yes, you will love autocracy if you get some best value for money goods from China 😂. So enjoy the expansive goods from America and get more funs for democracy.
The traction issue is common in evs with FWD.
What made you choose this over the Ora or MG4? In this segment I think BYD Dolphin is 2nd most popular after the MG4.
Nice vlog
Do more content, Awesome!
how much is it in Australia?? No Aussi tariffs? I don't even have wireless charging or voice control even for my $60k Lexus RX!!
Nope, thank god Australian politicians are not following the US and EU stupid tariff games 😢 normal consumers get to benefit from good products, not just Chinese cars, got a lot of Korean cars on the road too.
BYD Seal 6 and Qin L can run 2000 kilometers with a full fuel, I do not know whether they have reached Australia
You seem to really love it - are you keeping it?
With the different angle camera, i can see there is a view of the car from above where you can see the car roof top. I'm curious, how can the camera get that view way above the car? Is that connection via satellite?
The car computer does this, it combines the video feeds from all the cameras and present the view to you.
Prices of the models would be great
Software update on my 2022 motorcycle, involves going to the dealer or I use a USB C stick, download myself and update myself. Then they change something stupid, like disabling the USB C port from charging, so you have to do an accessory charger.
Excellent
