The last guy I dated told me he had been single by choice for a while before he met me. BUT THENNN once we were in a relationship, he was dropping hints as to why none of his most recent dating attempts evolved to relationships: he was downright cruel to women, and was legitimately surprised that they didn't like the treatment. Sucks so many of these men would rather believe what other men say about women instead of realizing that women are all individuals and not a monolith. The sad reality is that keep telling men that they're choosing a wrong woman or they're not doing anything good in relationship and they will ignore you completely like you're idiot and the same thing any man said to them it suddenly makes sense to them. Although you're right about the patriarchy thing, there's unfortunately a ton of still-broken women who secretly refuse to do the inner work to heal (I know at least 3 of them, and they're my sisters) but instead have go into "I wanna be left alone" mode and think staying single is a substitute. While it is a good idea to stay single until one heals and is healthy enough for dating, we won't get the peace we deserve even if staying single unless the inner work gets done.
Doing inner work is hard. I've been in this situation where the courtship lasted for 2 months then he asked for a relationship and when he had me agreeing and having access to my house, my body, my soul...guess what? 'I need to focus on my career. I'm gonna live to study/work abroad'. At this point they'll suggest 'keep being friends' and if the woman is emotionally attached she will agree. Like this he keeps her on the shelf and might be able to get some benefits when things go wrong with his other options. It was chilling to actually see men openly talking about it and how this is actually thought strategy they apply. Ofc, if the woman lashes out they will acuse her of being crazy and too emotional, as if a victim of scam should just be chill Af.
2 reasons. 1. These men usually get rejected by escorts. They have a vetting process (background check, questionnaire ect). So they can't see an escort if they wanted to. 2. They love the feeling of tricking a woman into giving him his desires and taking something from her (time, sexual energy, resources, beauty, anything really). Yes i agree i thought i had healed as a 39 yr old woman but when i tried to start dating again (after being in a longterm abusive relationship) I kept attracting the same type of man cycle repeat for 3 years (Narcissists) I started doing the deep healing and inner so i would stop accepting bare minimum and have boundaries etc etc i have to admit i thought because i had had therapy that i was ok i had healed but i wasn't i had to take accountability for my low self esteem, lack of boundaries, even communicating better what i like and what i don't like just basics and not being manipulated into thinking or feeling otherwise and still doing the work on a daily not necessarily to attract someone but 1st and foremost and more importantly for me and to be a better human being ❤

It bothers me when I hear men complain about the statistics of how women are the one who initiate divorce more than men. It's like they think we divorce for frivolous reasons and impulsively just because "we just don't feel like putting in the effort" or "we found a better option". When in reality, the woman has been communicating the whole time why she is unhappy, suffering the whole time and he's not paying attention or listening. We get fed up and they are surprised we leave or find another guy that treats us better. We don't "have men lined up" 24/7. He wanted me to stay at home with our son because it made sense. I would cook and clean and care for our son all day and night. He barely did anything for him or with him while we stayed together. He was always busy. I felt so neglected. I would argue with him about how he seemed to care so little about me and our son. I dealt with only being shown attention when he wanted to f*ck. Barely spend time together. I was always stuck in the house. I felt miserable. I was trying to make it work. Made me feel like I was inconvenient. One day he walked out saying "all you do is sit on your ass all day". That made me pack some of my things and my son. Left to my mom's. He made me feel unappreciated and like what I contributed to our home was nothing just because a paycheck wasn't attached to it. I bet a lot of divorces are because of that.

i’m not really worried if men choose to be single or not lol. I work as a waitress at Applebees while I’m in nursing school, but there’s an insane amount of men who do not know how to order their own food. I could ask a man how would they like their steak cooked, but they would look at their girlfriend/wife for the answer. A lot of men do not even know how to fully take care of themselves.

I also noticed that we all essentially want the same things, it's just that we can't agree on WHAT those things look/feel like. In my opinion, both men and women's expectations, egos and what they feel they deserve are unrealistic and problematic, and that's on both sides (all I hear from both sides is a whole lot of "well I shouldn't have to ____", and "I expect a man/woman to ____"). It makes total sense to me to stay single while you work on yourself and what YOU can bring to the table, as well as work on changing your expectations. Stop trying to force your ideals and what you think is right/how you think things *should* be onto the opposite sex, because we're never going to fully agree (as a whole). There ARE people out there who see things the same way you do and want the same things you do, yet somehow y'all are out here hooking up with/dating/"talking to"/getting into situationships/relationships with people who have different expectations and want different things than you do. And whose fault is that? Yours. And how do you find people who are on your wave? While I agree with you in a general point. The issue is, this stuff isnt equal. We know that statistically speaking women are still far more likely to be the ones working on themselves, examining themselves, if in no other way then because we know women are the majority of people going to therapy and self improvement groups/classes. We know, again, from statistics that in all countries this data has been collected women spend on average twice as much time in daily child care than men do, from what i remember the biggest outlier was France, whos times came closer to equal but for some reason france also had lower overall time spent in child care. We also know that when padora hit, women were most likely the people taking the hit to their time, finances and career to engage in caring for family members and children. We have data on this. Were coming off of decades of women doing all the work to "make it work". The situation isnt equal. And yes by all means its always great to examine yourself, keep yourself accountable, work on bettering yourself. My point is its not realistic to say oh no, both women and men need to learn. Yes, obviously. But lets be realistic and honest that when we look at the numbers men have a lot more work to do.
There's a common thread through all of these men's responses and the common thread is an overwhelming focus on themselves. And that right there is why these dudes struggle to date. Not one of them talked about how they would pour into a woman how they would uplift a woman. He's looking to make an impact on women's lives, but what impact are they making on his? So he's comparing all of these women and what is he comparing? Divorced women with children as compared to a woman who doesn't have children and has never been married. He says he wants to have kids in a family but he's already admitted that his job is to travel and, and he dates women in the states that he's traveled to. So while she's at home raising the kids he's going to be out traveling from state to state? He's looking to make a married single mother. It's giving rolling stone to me. I've been saying for years that for a relationship to be healthy both partners need to feel lucky to be with the other one. There needs to be a sense of joy that you get to be woth someone that awesome. And joy that they see you the same way. This leads to mutual pursuit. Here you have this deep fascinating person, of course you are going to want to know more about them, of course you are going to put in the time to mindfully love them with all 5 love languages. It creates a wonderful cycle of love and fulfillment. Now it isn't always ups. Sometimes there are downs. But you care about each other enough to give each other grace. And you work together to work through the hard times or problems. There is no expectation of tolerable levels of permanent unhappiness, you both know things can be better so you work towards that. My premarital councilor had one really good peice of advice. He said, the enemy of a great marriage is not a bad marriage, its a ok marriage that you're not working on."

When I took a break from dating because I wanted to work out my issues first instead of making the same mistakes over and over again, I realized I'd been so desperate to be partnered that I'd lower my standards, overlook bad behavior, try to change myself to make THEM happy and was dating men I wasn't even particularly into to begin with. Now I won't date unless I'm excited about the prospect of dating someone...and I haven't been on a date since because that never happens. It's bleak, but it's better than settling.

Based on what I've seen, far more likely women are telling you 'it's fine to have hobbies, but when there are dishes to clean, laundry to do and god forbid a baby that needs their diaper changed, you can't go on a 6 hours gaming binge anymore. Absolutely this! Many men don't understand how seasons of life work. When there's a new baby all hobbies take a back seat. But in a few years the season changes, now you get to introduce your kid to the games you loved at that age. But so many people (but men most often) don't want to make the short term sacrifice.
As a nerdy woman, a lot of my fellow nerd guys have a huge amount of entitlement towards the women they accept as gf. They’d rather have a dime piece who has nothing in common w them, than an average (like themselves) nerd girl who won’t have a problem with them liking Star Wars. Or they might date the average nerd girl but make her suffer through a pr0n addiction because they don’t want to let the fantasy go. I saw it over and over! The difference here is that their hate for women is REAL. Just look at data, other women experiences and your own - they hate women even their women and girlfriends. I've watched and follow some of these male forums and one host was telling men to be honest about wanting casual and they would find women up to the same. Meanwhile men in the comments were saying that being honest would give the woman the option to say no so the better was just to tell her what she wants to hear, tell her he wants a relationship. After she agrees he gets access to sex and can bonk her a few times for a couple of months and then just come up with an excuse like hes too busy for being in a relationship and he needs to focus on his studies, job, careeer etc and better is to break up.
I've been in this situation where the courtship lasted for 2 months then he asked for a relationship and when he had me agreeing and having access to my house, my body, my soul...guess what? 'I need to focus on my career. I'm gonna live to study/work abroad'. At this point they'll suggest 'keep being friends' and if the woman is emotionally attached she will agree. Like this he keeps her on the shelf and might be able to get some benefits when things go wrong with his other options.

2 reasons.
1. These men usually get rejected by escorts. They have a vetting process (background check, questionnaire ect). So they can't see an escort if they wanted to.

It bothers me when I hear men complain about the statistics of how women are the one who initiate divorce more than men. It's like they think we divorce for frivolous reasons and impulsively just because "we just don't feel like putting in the effort" or "we found a better option". When in reality, the woman has been communicating the whole time why she is unhappy, suffering the whole time and he's not paying attention or listening. We get fed up and they are surprised we leave or find another guy that treats us better. We don't "have men lined up" 24/7. Exactly!!! Like wife woke up on a random Tuesday and decided to just ruin his life for sh*ts and giggles..smh of course we're mostly initiating. Men on average would happily keep the wife and do his bs on the side, have him a mistress. They get a good deal that way. We on the other hand get emotionally drained and feel so devalued that we hit out breaking point and think this can't be it. I was with my son's father for such a short period. He wanted me to stay at home with our son because it made sense. I would cook and clean and care for our son all day and night. He barely did anything for him or with him while we stayed together. He was always busy. I felt so neglected. I would argue with him about how he seemed to care so little about me and our son. I dealt with only being shown attention when he wanted to f*ck. Barely spend time together. I was always stuck in the house. I felt miserable. I was trying to make it work. Made me feel like I was inconvenient. One day he walked out saying "all you do is sit on your ass all day". That made me pack some of my things and my son. Left to my mom's. He made me feel unappreciated and like what I contributed to our home was nothing just because a paycheck wasn't attached to it. I bet a lot of divorces are because of that.
I don’t know about anyone else, but something about that last guy gave me the energy of, “I was dating women my age with kids and now I date younger girls”. i’m not really worried if men choose to be single or not lol. I work as a waitress at Applebees while I’m in nursing school, but there’s an insane amount of men who do not know how to order their own food. I could ask a man how would they like their steak cooked, but they would look at their girlfriend/wife for the answer. A lot of men do not even know how to fully take care of themselves.

We have both women and men wanting loyalty, equal partnership and to be treated like queens and kings in equal measure... but what men consider being treated like kings (for the most part) seems to go directly against what women consider being treated like queens (for the most part). In my opinion, both men and women's expectations, egos and what they feel they deserve are unrealistic and problematic, and that's on both sides (all I hear from both sides is a whole lot of "well I shouldn't have to ____", and "I expect a man/woman to ____").
It makes total sense to me to stay single while you work on yourself and what YOU can bring to the table, as well as work on changing your expectations. Stop trying to force your ideals and what you think is right/how you think things *should* be onto the opposite sex, because we're never going to fully agree (as a whole). There ARE people out there who see things the same way you do and want the same things you do, yet somehow y'all are out here hooking up with/dating/"talking to"/getting into situationships/relationships with people who have different expectations and want different things than you do. And whose fault is that? Yours. And how do you find people who are on your wave? Through:
1) taking your time to let people SHOW you who they really are, what they believe in and how they live BEFORE you mess with them (which is what people aren't doing),
2) changing your expectations/learning to compromise (which is what people aren't doing), and
3) putting in the work of relentlessly (and most importantly, *honestly*) holding yourself accountable, examining yourself and your intentions/desires/your relationship with yourself and communicating whatever that truth is to others (which is what people aren't doing).
Like the last guy that I agree with was expressing, none of the above is really possible on social media- stop living your life through social media- it's not reality.
As for the whole lack of loyalty/cheating thing, well... I don't really know what to say about that other than... how about just DON'T? If you've ever cheated then in my opinion, you've lost the right to complain about it. Point blank. Stop being hypocrites (aka a part of the problem).
I don't lower my standarts. Either someone lives up to my very high expectations or I stay happy single.
I have better things to do than lower myself so far that I can stand the state of unhappyness I see in the vast majority of relationships.

While I agree with you in a general point. The issue is, this stuff isnt equal. We know that statistically speaking women are still far more likely to be the ones working on themselves, examining themselves, if in no other way then because we know women are the majority of people going to therapy and self improvement groups/classes. We know, again, from statistics that in all countries this data has been collected women spend on average twice as much time in daily child care than men do, from what i remember the biggest outlier was France, whos times came closer to equal but for some reason france also had lower overall time spent in child care. We also know that when padora hit, women were most likely the people taking the hit to their time, finances and career to engage in caring for family members and children. We have data on this.
Were coming off of decades of women doing all the work to "make it work". The situation isnt equal. And yes by all means its always great to examine yourself, keep yourself accountable, work on bettering yourself. My point is its not realistic to say oh no, both women and men need to learn. Yes, obviously. But lets be realistic and honest that when we look at the numbers men have a lot more work to do.
There's a common thread through all of these men's responses and the common thread is an overwhelming focus on themselves. And that right there is why these dudes struggle to date. Not one of them talked about how they would pour into a woman how they would uplift a woman. Many of them casually mentioned working together as a team but only talked about what they were owed as a part of that team. They never talked about what they would give as a part of that team either in generalities or specifics.
The guy talking about porn had it half right. A lot of men, specifically the guy that wants to be chased and wants someone to watch Star Trek and Star Wars and go camping with, are looking for a very specific woman who is never going to do that stuff with him. But he's happy to portray all women in that light. I've been an outdoorsy nerd my entire life, and I'm here to tell you those nerdy guys and those outdoorsy guys who always complain, aren't going for women who are already in those environments. They always want the cosplay models at the convention, not the women that are paying to attend the event.
The last guy sounded like a narcissist to me. He's looking to make an impact on women's lives, but what impact are they making on his? He says that all the women he dated were wonderful beautiful souls, but this last woman has checked all his boxes and is the most beautiful. So he's comparing all of these women and what is he comparing? Divorced women with children as compared to a woman who doesn't have children and has never been married.
He says he wants to have kids in a family but he's already admitted that his job is to travel and, and he dates women in the states that he's traveled to. So while she's at home raising the kids he's going to be out traveling from state to state? He's looking to make a married single mother. It's giving rolling stone to me. And all that inner work he says he's been doing, sounds like a good elevator pitch. He feels like a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I think women not being with him is a big WIN! Hopefully he stays in his immature fantasy world. I've been saying for years that for a relationship to be healthy both partners need to feel lucky to be with the other one. There needs to be a sense of joy that you get to be woth someone that awesome. And joy that they see you the same way.
This leads to mutual pursuit. Here you have this deep fascinating person, of course you are going to want to know more about them, of course you are going to put in the time to mindfully love them with all 5 love languages.
It creates a wonderful cycle of love and fulfillment. Now it isn't always ups. Sometimes there are downs. But you care about each other enough to give each other grace. And you work together to work through the hard times or problems. There is no expectation of tolerable levels of permanent unhappiness, you both know things can be better so you work towards that.

When I took a break from dating because I wanted to work out my issues first instead of making the same mistakes over and over again, I realized I'd been so desperate to be partnered that I'd lower my standards, overlook bad behavior, try to change myself to make THEM happy and was dating men I wasn't even particularly into to begin with. Now I won't date unless I'm excited about the prospect of dating someone...and I haven't been on a date since because that never happens. It's bleak, but it's better than settling.
