April 1999, last party for a college group I belonged to. The music was playing and no one dancing. I said, "I got this," walked over to the DJ, "play Dancing Queen by Abba." 30 seconds later 100 21-year-olds on the dance floor! You ever find yourself in a similar spot, you know what to do. Abba!
Yes, and here we are sitting in our homes under Covid....ah, I remember 1976...I was 16 and NOT sitting at home staring at an illuminated screen. (covering all devices 😃)
I was 16, when this was in the charts in 1977 - I was a dancing queen back then in 1977 and a dancing queen in 2021 at aged 60. When you hear it, you cannot fail to want to dance.
7:01 What a time you would have on the dance floor back in 1977 when this song hit #1 in the USA. It played everywhere all day. When the DJ put this disc on EVERYBODY got up to dance. We need more music like this and more discotheques in 2023. Great reaction video👍🏻😊
Frida!! Love her energy and personality while performing. She was having the best time whenever she was in stage and giving her all. Agnetha also a wonderful performer but in a slightly more low key way. This is THE song which will always be the most identifiable to ABBA given the enormity of its success and continued relevance even after 45 years after its original release in 1976. That is just remarkable. I hope you explore more of the ABBA world of musical brilliance because there is so much to hear and enjoy.
It's very difficult to me to understand why America only know "Dancing Queen". Every single ABBA song is beautiful, even the sad ones. I discovered them when I was 10, and I'm now 57, and ABBA is still a great pleasure for my ears and my soul.
Dude, we are around the same age. I first became an ABBA fan growing up in the USA after hearing their single “Take a Chance on Me.” I then purchased “ABBA: The Album.” I became familiar with that album before I heard “Dancing Queen.”
Assuming that Americans only know Dancing Queen is such a blanket statement. I'm 59 and I knew about ABBA before Dancing Queen. Fernando, Waterloo, S.O.S, among others are some of my ABBA favorites. A lot of these reactions are from younger people who are just discovering them. People my age and older know about ABBA.
The name "ABBA" is an acronym of their names: Agnetha (blond), Benny (piano), Björn (guitar) and Anni-Frid (brunette). They are from Sweden and were active 1972-1982. They have sold about 400 million albums world wide and are one of the most succesful bands ever. In 2010 they were inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by The Bee Gees. ABBA has tons of hits and they created that uniqe ABBA-sound that today is legendary. Agnetha and Anni-Frid were two of the greatest vocalists on their own, but when they start to harmonize their voices, that's when the real magic begins and it's just.... WOW WOW WOW
A classic from the 70s. I was a child and I remember how this song was played too many times on the radio in my country ( Cuba 🇨🇺) Everybody was crazy about Abba's music.
_Finally,_ a young gal who appreciates (and calls attention to) specific _musical_ elements in songs, rather than just the lyrics. For example, your reaction to the drums & percussion (4:47), Benny's piano playing (5:14), and those glorious pre-chorus strings (5:24). Honestly, I've always listened to music the exact same way you do - _I savor every little musical morsel._ (even when I was a little kid) Anyway... Oh, and your mimicking of Agnetha and Frida (at 5:10) cracks me up. 😆 You ladies know all each other's little seductive moves. 😁 Cheers!

I can't wait for their new music to be released this autumn. According to their manager, "you won't be disappointed". It will be massive news when they finally hit the airwaves ❤
I swear that quick piano riff is the best start to any song I can think of. These four musicians were the Jackson 5 of Europe, they seem just genetically tailored for rock!

The Bee Gees...Nights on Broadway, Donna Summer...Last Chance, Chic's..I want your Love and A Taste of Honey...Boogie Oogie Oogie!! All these songs were in that 70's era, songs that had the Club dance floors in NYC, going CRAZY!!! Energy Music!!
ABBA had tons of hit songs. Chiquitita, The Winner Takes It All, Mamma Mia, Fernando, Take a Chance on Me, Lay All Your Love on Me, Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie! ( A Man After Midnight ) , Waterloo ... the harmonies the rhythm. A few years ago reportedly they were offered a Billion ( yes with a B ) for a reunion. $250 million for each member to do a reunion tour and they turned it down.
This song was such a MASSIVE hit in the mid 70's (I remember it well in high school), and has since continued its huge popularity. It's a dance/pop/disco song, but yet so much more than that. The instrumentals and vocals are superlative and capture a spirit which is not only elusive, but is simply difficult to define for any era of music.
I've been in some dark moods and depression?! But ABBA is one of of the group's that has always put a spring in my step.xxx beautiful reaction.. Cheer's Gorgeous 🇬🇧
