Singer of Metallica, James Hetfield, has gone on record saying that he loves to sing with his family in the car when driving from place to place. That as a family they love listening to and singing along to ABBA, especially Dancing Queen♥️
Michael Amott of Arch Enemy turned me onto Bossa Nova musicians like Stan Getz from a post he made once. I think he actually said once he doesn't listen to a lot of metal in his downtime. Understandable.

Abba ("ah bah") emerged from Sweden in the 70's, the pop group comprised of 2 couples - 2 female singers w/ 2 male songwriters... They became a phenomenon globally and their records sold millions of copies long after Abba disbanded in the early 80's. Bjorn and Benny were the men who became friends in Sweden's music scene and started collaborating on new music, opting to switch to English lyrics to have a wider appeal... Bjorn met a blonde singer Agnetha and they married; at the same time, Benny met a brunette singer Anni-Frid (Frida) and got engaged... They decided to record songs w/ the ladies singing in harmony (Bjorn also sang some lead vocals) but were unsure of a name. The decided to name the group Abba, combining the first letters of their names - Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, Anni-Frid... and in 1974, they won a TV contest called Eurovision w/ their song 'Waterloo' (after releasing 2 albums in Sweden)... Abba was signed internationally soon after. Abba released their international debut album 'Abba' in 1975 and it became an instant hit w/ the pop singles - 'Mama Mia'... 'S.O.S.'... 2nd album 'Arrival' in 1976 made Abba superstars as the single 'Dancing queen' became a hit in America... along w/ the songs - 'Knowing me, knowing you'... "That's me"... Abba diversified their songs w/ different styles of popular music, including theater. Touring became a priority and it was tough on Abba, given Agnetha and Bjorn had a child together... In 1977, Abba released a movie ('Abba - the movie') combining the groups backstage and onstage footage w/ a fictional reporter seeking an interview w/ Abba... It was accompanied by the record 'Abba - the album'... which scored hits like - 'Take a chance on me'... 'Eagle' ... 'Thank you for the music'... However, the crush of fame brought about Abba's personal turmoil and pressure to write and record took a toll... Benny and Frida married in 1978 but Bjorn and Agnetha split up that year and eventually divorced... Benny and Frida would split up by 1980. Abba released the album 'Voulez-vous' in 1979 ('voo lay voo') and it became a hit w/ the singles - 'Chiquitita' ... 'Does your mother know' ... Mia, Hi. ABBA pronounced with a soft A like Habba. It is Disco. I was there. Then all of the Night Clubs were dancing clubs. Popular were the 'Bee Gees' and, Rock, Disco, and Pop music all mixed together. Later some folks scoffed at Disco, probably 'cause they couldn't dance, but I can say it was the best, most fun, and happiest, music to dance to . . . And it could be Hot, depending on the song. Cheers.
If you're trying to date the song, it hit the Billboard Top 40 on the week of January 22, 1977. It was in the Top 40 for fifteen weeks, and it peaked at #1 for one week (the 458th #1 hit of the Rock Era, for those of you who are keeping count).
ABBA is not only the greatest musical act ever to come from Sweden, but one of the best male/female groups of all time. There are so many great songs. And their songs always lift the spirits and elevate one's mood. Dancing Queen is their signature tune. But there are so many others. I will list only a few of them. Waterloo, Mamma Mia, Take a Chance on Me, Money, Money, Money, The Winner Takes It All, SOS, I Have a Dream.
Hi Mia. The 80's were fun. We used to go to the clubs here in NY and danced all night from Thursday evening till Sunday in the morning. We would go to a club then to the after hours club then to the after after hours club. All the Girls were Dancing Queens and some of the Guys too 😀There was never a time like this and there will never be again. You look like someone that WOULD HAVE had a lot of fun in the clubs back then 💃🕺
Hi Mia, glad you got to enjoy this song! I remember this song playing at the RollerRinks in the 90s. It has a great rhythm like you are dancing to. They are a fantastic band, I encourage you to check out some of their other songs, The Winner Takes All, Fernando, & Mama Mia.
ABBA from Sweden, I think its Disco and they were a decade before of their time when it came to the music. ABBA stands for the first letter of their names, Agnefrid ( Brown hair ), Björn ( Piano ), Benny ( Guitar ) and Agneta ( Blond ). One of the biggest groups ever and most of their songs are big hits. Hits like Waterloo, Supertrouper, The Winner Takes It All, Mamma Mia ( two movies make with that name ), Ring Ring, When I Kisses the Teacher..... jus to name a few.
Its a damn great song. No doubt. The drum beat is really good. The piano and strings, vocals are excellent. Bridge is perfect and the chorus is legendary.
You could watch the 3 films that have been done about ABBA & their music. First was ABBA - The Movie which follows them during a concert tour of Australia. A storyline of an Australian DJ trying to get an interview is woven in.Then there is Mamma Mia & Mamma Mia 2 which are musicals using their music.
I never heard of this band until late either. I grew up on 70's Soul and older so this pop stuff is still sort of new to me. Ha. "Gimme Gimme" is a dancing banger and also inspired Madonna "Hung Up"which covers 2 birds with one stone. ❤❤
Hello Mia, ABBA is a Legend. They have so many Hits here in Europe and all over the World. The Musical Mamma Mia is made of their Songs. They even had a Show in London, were all four of them are Holograms. Please search for more of their Songs. You won´t regret it. Servus.😊😊😊
Came to the attention of the world in the 1974 Eurovision song contest (held in the UK that year)- winning with the track Waterloo, so many other great tracks: S.O.S., Knowing Me Knowing You, Chiquitita, Thank You for the Music, Name of the Game, Take a Chance on Me, Winner Takes it All.
ABBA has many great songs. They were a big part of the disco era. Some of their best songs are “Mama Mia, S.O.S., Take a Chance, Waterloo, Gimme Gimme Gimme, and Knowing Me Knowing You.” You should also check out some Earth, Wind, and Fire. Some KC and the Sunshine Band and some Kool and the Gang if you enjoyed this group.
Growing up in Mexico, the parties we went to, everyone would dance! I was a teen in the early 80s but this music was still playing, along with newer stuff, of course. Wonderful times!
In the late19 70's, Disco was king, I had just turned eighteen fresh out of high and enlisted in the Army, Stationed in Germany, we loved this stuff, music of my youth
Honestly...? Never heard ABBA? unfortunately i don't believe that. In my opinion, it is impossible to never ever heard especially this song? Especially when it has done a musical and 2 movies. And, btw, ABBA is one of the greatest band ever in music history. And their music is timeless. That's all.
"Let me know if they have any more songs". You've got to be kidding! Two, completely different, greatest hits albums with 39 hits and that only scratches the surface. Only the Beatles have sold more records than ABBA.
Welcome to ABBAs magic world :) A lot of fantastic songs to discover (and react to). Greetings from Sweden. Some of the songs you should listen to --> The Winner Takes it All, Chiquitita, Thank You for the Music, The Name of the Game, Take a Chance on Me, When all is Said and done, The Day Before You Came and 25 more great songs
Hey Mia. The term you are searching for is "belting". Belting is a singing technique that involves using the chest voice to produce a powerful, resonant sound. It's often described as a "high chest voice" or "mixed voice", but it's actually a descriptive term for a specific way of using the vocal registers. Belting is a contemporary technique that's used in many genres, including pop, rock, jazz, and folk. It's most commonly associated with musical theater, where Broadway singers project their voices to fill large venues. Belting is different from classical singing techniques, which can also produce a powerful sound. Belting is derived from speech, and it can be heard well even when it's not amplified.
That's really sad to hear how repressed the club scene seems to be these days. I guess the question is: why does anyone bother to go to them? Just to get their 'attitudes adjusted' & look for a hook-up? Glad I got my good years in decades ago.
Mia,I think you are a Dancing Queen too😁❤....Abba was one of my first fav Bands and as a young boy I was so in love with Agnetha🤣....you should check more Abba they have so many Hits👍
Strange you've never heard of it.This is a global classic and still out there, panGenerational, loudly popular from dancefloor clubs to weddings and even highly on tik tok.Good u know it now.
Hello Mia my love ❤ yes ABBA is the 70’s it was the height of Disco. They are from Sweden, I had a crush on the blonde when I was a kid. Speaking of the 70’s that is when the greatest rock band in history LED ZEPPELIN was selling out stadiums. Just your daily reminder! 😂 I hope I get a shoutout when you finally listen to them and realize how much you love them! ABBA is a disco band ❤
I think the main reason why most people are not on the dancefloor is because they are addicted to their stupid phones 🙂 but this is the perfect birthday song for women!
It’s pronounced “Ah-Bah”. The A stands for Agnetha (blonde singer); the B is for Bjorn (guitar); the B is for Benny (piano) ; the other A is for Ana-frid (brunette singer). I think “Chiquitita” would be a great song to react to. 😊
Here's an interesting fact about ABBA. They were a pop group from Sweden and this was one of their first big international hits. At the time they were singing it from rote memory because they hadn't learned English yet.
Hi Mia great reaction..how can you not like ABBA ..not that you dont ..ABBA pronounced ( Ah - Bah) is a great band..absolutely love them..they have great melodies..and the girls have some of the best harmonies ever..so many hits..your gonna love em.. and people were on roller skates..lol..and the guitarist had the Justin Bieber hair before Bieber..🤣😂..ok enjoy..take care..🙏
Abba, (with a long A), came out of disco, but their talent a versatility carried well past disco's time. Every year there is a huge amateur talent competition in Europe. Each year the winner is paraded around to record companies, hopefully for a contract. The companies usually don't take it to seriously, due to past disappointments. However, Abba won, using this song. When the record companies found out that the vote was unanimous, it got their attention! The rest is history. You might like the movie called Mama Mia, which is based on Abba's music. You should more Abba.
ABBA is one of the most successful groups of all time. Yes it is considered Pop music. In the 70s they were huge in many countries. But not quite so much in the US where they were derided as Bubble Gum Pop. However they have stood the test of time. They originally stopped recording as a group in the early 80s. But only a few years ago they came out with a new album after 40 years! And they still have it. Their song catalog is vast and wonderful. Definitely a rabbit hole you should go down.
This was one of my older sister's favorite band back in the 70's. I like some of there songs too. I suggest you react to " Take A Chance Of Me," and "Voulez-Vous."
And, btw, this song is propably their greatest hits ever. ABBA, 2 ladies and 2 men. Their are genious. As songwriters, musicians and singers. Especially these 2 ladies, with incredible voices. and last, their music is way better still today than today's so called " music singers " or just "music ". This is cold hard fact.
For the disco era ABBA was very good. Miss Mia may I request Need Your Love by Cheap Trick from the the Live at Budokan album. Also so very good. Cheap Trick was formed in 1973. My older sister brought home their album In Color. Then she brought home Dream Police. There is so much content but I will gladly settle for a reaction to Need Your Love.
Who didn't?? :) I remember hearing them reunited and couldn't believe it..they swore to never do that. I was so happy to hear new stuff from them. Loved them since I was a child in the 70s.
ABBA has been pronounced AH-ba and sometimes Ab-ba. It is always spelled by using all capitals because the group's name comes from the first initials of the members. Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstadt. The names reflect the fact that the group comes from Sweden.
I grew up in one of the best era of music the 1980's. There are so many great songs for you to react to and I am sure your fans would love to see some more classic from you.
Great Choice ......you have to admit every time you hear this song it always makes you smile.... I know everytime I hear this song it makes me smile .........My favorite song is "Crazy Game of Poker" The Band is "OAR"
The Swedish super group - using the letters of their first names - Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog - ABBA - one of the best selling groups in the history of music. Really hard to believe there are people alive who have no idea who they are. Two married couples who wrote upbeat pop songs, but gradually more about relationships, their hardships and eventual breakups, that resonated with people all around the world - and still do. True musical royalty - and with the May 2022, after the premiere of the new album ABBA Voyage, and the O2 show - the technical marval of their "ABBAtars" still actually going! You should react to "I still have faith in you" released in 2021 - and for those of us who grew up with ABBA, extremely emotional.
ABBA was a Swedish Pop-Band huge in the 70ies and early 80ies. The acronym ABBA (pronounced „Ah-bah“) is made up of the first letters of the band members, the two girls and their respective husbands. They had a huge hit-catalog, „The winner takes it all“ - „Gimme Gimme“, „Money“ and „Super Trouper“ to name a few.
"Let me know if they had any other songs that were a big hit...." OK! Here are 22 of their best originals...most of which were later woven into the internationally-acclaimed stage show (Broadway, Vegas, London, etc.) and two movies bearing the name "Mamma Mia...." Chiquitita Does Your Mother Know Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) Head over Heels Hey, Hey Helen Honey, Honey I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do I Have a Dream Knowing Me, Knowing You Lay All Your Love on Me Mamma Mia Man in the Middle Money, Money, Money One of Us SOS Super Trouper Take a Chance on Me Thank You for the Music The Name of the Game The Winner Takes It All Voulez-Vous Waterloo
They have amazing hits, Mamma Mia films had their music in them. Also, the film back in 1994 called Muriel's Wedding had this song. I suggest "Take A Chance On Me" and "Chiquitita" for starters. The brunette woman is Frida, she has a hit called "I Know There's Something Going On." Check it out. Welcome to Disco.
Abba are great and there recent reunion after 4 decades apart is incredible you coyld see there digital avatar concert in london that is still being performed and icludes classic abba like this as well as there brand new recordings like don't shut me down and i still have faith in you
I remember them playing this song at the roller skating rink when I was a little kid in the 70s. My parents would take the family about once every week or two. Everyone just having a great time with the black lights and disco balls making everything look glowing.

You look like someone that WOULD HAVE had a lot of fun in the clubs back then 💃🕺
Thank you! Other great songs from ABBA:
• Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
• Fernando
• Take a Chance on Me
• The Winner Takes It all
Need to listen to Blondie heart of glass
And Pat Benatar Promises in the Dark, Love is a Battlefield, and Too Little Too Late
Only a few of their songs qualify as disco... Dancing Queen being one of them.
Only 10 songs were disco oriented from over 100 songs they had recorded. And those 10 were also great btw.
ABBA is my guilty pleasure lol. You gotta hear The winner takes it all" "Chiquitita" "Mama Mia" and "Fernando "
I never heard of this band until late either. I grew up on 70's Soul and older so this pop stuff is still sort of new to me. Ha. "Gimme Gimme" is a dancing banger and also inspired Madonna "Hung Up"which covers 2 birds with one stone. ❤❤
ABBA is iconic so many big hits
Hello Mia, ABBA is a Legend. They have so many Hits here in Europe and all over the World. The Musical Mamma Mia is made of their Songs. They even had a Show in London, were all four of them are Holograms.
Please search for more of their Songs. You won´t regret it. Servus.😊😊😊
I have 3 sister's who listen to them all the time I also fell in love with them!✌😊
Came to the attention of the world in the 1974 Eurovision song contest (held in the UK that year)- winning with the track Waterloo, so many other great tracks: S.O.S., Knowing Me Knowing You, Chiquitita, Thank You for the Music, Name of the Game, Take a Chance on Me, Winner Takes it All.
In the late19 70's, Disco was king, I had just turned eighteen fresh out of high and enlisted in the Army,
Stationed in Germany, we loved this stuff, music of my youth
Love ABBA. It's a group. 😘
If you have ever watched the "Mama Mia" movies they feature ABBA's songs.
Absolutely!
Are you not able to go longer than 15 seconds without interrupting? It's really offputting in a reaction vid
I was a high school rocker in the late 70s, and openly admitted I like ABBA music.
Especially Agnetha (blonde)😍😋😈
My favorite ABBA song... Dancing Quuen
Four of the top five best-selling bands are British. The other one is Abba.
Dancing Queen is the happiest song in the world
Welcome to ABBAs magic world :) A lot of fantastic songs to discover (and react to).
I only stared at two things the entire video: Agnetha and Frida.
Falls under Awesomeness!!❤
Hello Mia my love ❤ yes ABBA is the 70’s it was the height of Disco. They are from Sweden, I had a crush on the blonde when I was a kid. Speaking of the 70’s that is when the greatest rock band in history LED ZEPPELIN was selling out stadiums. Just your daily reminder! 😂
I hope I get a shoutout when you finally listen to them and realize how much you love them!
ABBA is a disco band ❤
I think the main reason why most people are not on the dancefloor is because they are addicted to their stupid phones 🙂
but this is the perfect birthday song for women!
Another awesome reaction. Another great artist I haven’t seen you react to is Stevie Wonder superstition. He has a lot of great songs. A legend
Un grand tube disco si on veut classifier ! De la bonne humeur, de la joie de vivre, on a envie d'être sur une piste de danse !
Another classic song love the video Mia stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way
No Autotune,mylady all talent
Ciaooo Mia prova con i greath white big goodbay fantastici riff 🎸🤘🤘🤘🤘kiss bella💃⚘
first letter of their names...at one time the highest selling group in the world and you never heard of them?
You need to listen to the Winner Takes it All, there is no screaming as you say
Pop royalty.
This was one of my older sister's favorite band back in the 70's. I like some of there songs too. I suggest you react to " Take A Chance Of Me," and "Voulez-Vous."
they're Swedish, this was their last hit and it was disco , Try "The Winner Takes it All" about their divorces
This song came out in 1976. It wouldn’t say it was their last hit. It was however their only no. 1 in the US.
Miss Mia may I request Need Your Love by Cheap Trick from the
the Live at Budokan album. Also so very good. Cheap Trick was formed in 1973. My older sister brought home their album In Color. Then she brought home Dream Police. There is so much content but I will gladly settle for a reaction to Need Your Love.
Gimme,gimme,gimme from Abba,every song it's good
Car dancing in the late 70's - Early 80-'s! Freaking looooove ABBA.
Already during the 1990-s, they had sold over 400 million albums, although they'd broke up in the early 80-s.😊
Best voices in pop history
Loved your reaction Mia. ABBA music was for parties and dancing. Very talented and professional. Merry Christmas.
I grew up in one of the best era of music the 1980's. There are so many great songs for you to react to and I am sure your fans would love to see some more classic from you.
You have been truly blessed!
Great Choice ......you have to admit every time you hear this song it always makes you smile.... I know everytime I hear this song it makes me smile .........My favorite song is "Crazy Game of Poker" The Band is "OAR"
Good old school stuff cutie
Keep up the amazing reactions
ABBA Pure talent
You put Agnetha at both ends! The other one is Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
@@kitharley6159 Oops
ABBA will make you feel things, that's for sure
ABBA was a Swedish Pop-Band huge in the 70ies and early 80ies. The acronym ABBA (pronounced „Ah-bah“) is made up of the first letters of the band members, the two girls and their respective husbands. They had a huge hit-catalog, „The winner takes it all“ - „Gimme Gimme“, „Money“ and „Super Trouper“ to name a few.
"Let me know if they had any other songs that were a big hit...." OK! Here are 22 of their best originals...most of which were later woven into the internationally-acclaimed stage show (Broadway, Vegas, London, etc.) and two movies bearing the name "Mamma Mia...."
Chiquitita
Does Your Mother Know
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
Head over Heels
Hey, Hey Helen
Honey, Honey
I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do
I Have a Dream
Knowing Me, Knowing You
Lay All Your Love on Me
Mamma Mia
Man in the Middle
Money, Money, Money
One of Us
SOS
Super Trouper
Take a Chance on Me
Thank You for the Music
The Name of the Game
The Winner Takes It All
Voulez-Vous
Waterloo
They have amazing hits, Mamma Mia films had their music in them. Also, the film back in 1994 called Muriel's Wedding had this song. I suggest "Take A Chance On Me" and "Chiquitita" for starters. The brunette woman is Frida, she has a hit called "I Know There's Something Going On." Check it out. Welcome to Disco.
Abba are great and there recent reunion after 4 decades apart is incredible you coyld see there digital avatar concert in london that is still being performed and icludes classic abba like this as well as there brand new recordings like don't shut me down and i still have faith in you
You should check out, "Winner takes it all" by ABBA
Abba is pop music.
Correct. Too.many people calling them a disco band. The disco craze was mostly late 70s. ABBA released their first song in 1972.
I remember them playing this song at the roller skating rink when I was a little kid in the 70s. My parents would take the family about once every week or two. Everyone just having a great time with the black lights and disco balls making everything look glowing.
Disco Era , yes!!
think roller skating ring memories
Yay 26,000 that’s my girl congratulations babe❤
8:45 The beginning of Disco(70s club/dance music) Loud, heavy, fast-paced drums and guitar, constant flow of sound to keep you moving.
I know about ABBA through my dad. He used to listen to them all the time when I was growing up. Good reaction, mia. You seem like such a sweetheart
