  • Excitement builts as we eagerly await the "Dancing Queen" music video. The blend of Europop and American disco music, Wall of Sound arrangements, and intricate hooks create a magical sound. The dynamic vocals of Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad effortlessly navigate the song's many turns. The sophisticated melody and joyful lyrics make "Dancing Queen" ABBA's most popular song. We are left exhilarated and inspired by this masterpiece.

ABBA, one of the greatest bands ever! It was made up of 2 Swedish couples. Bjorn, the guitarist married Ag Ethan the blonde girl and Benny the pianist married Ani-Frid aka Frida or Annie the Auburn haired girl. that's where ABBA comes from, the initials of their first names. They were the first to make videos of their songs. They smartley wanted to preserve their songs and looks. This was way before mtv videos. They started it all. They have sold over 400 million records, only the Beatles have sold more! Huge cataloge. Try Fernando, Chiquitita, Take A Chance On Me, and another great disco song Voules vous. By the way after 40 years, last year they put out a new album called voyager. Incredible. Their voices haven't changed. They have a theatre in London where they put on concerts using avatars aka ABBAtars . So real. Not holigrams. Sold out every night

Perfectly said, nor would anyone with much knowledge of the Bee Gees tag them as a strictly disco group. They're two of the most talented, likable groups in history, who happened to produce great songs that were eminently danceable.🤔

@@rebeccalipps23 "Dancing Queen" is a song in the pop and dance genre, although many music critics and publicists also classify it as a disco song, despite not containing several distinctive elements of this genre. The melody is composed in 4/4 time, in the key of A major and a tempo of 100 beats per minute.

As I said before and in another comment
neither ABBA is a disco music group
neither Dancing Queen is a disco song
ABBA, and Dancing Queen, are Europop music
but ABBA has a few disco-style songs, inspired by the hit soundtrack of "Saturday Night Fever" by the Bee Gees, among the best are:
    Summer Night City
    Voulez Vous
    Gimme gimme gimme
Lay all your love on me

Hello guys, so nice to see you for first time, with a reaction to the biggest ABBA worldwide hit
(a correction to You: ABBA wasn't a disco group, and Dancing Queen wasn't a disco music)
These is ABBA, the iconic Swedish pop quartet, the best, most versatile and most important of the 70s, in the post BEATLES decade (the revolutionary group of the 60s)
ABBA, as in its time BEATLES, was a musical and cultural phenomenon, and its legacy lives on
ABBA is the biggest musical act in the history of both continental Europe and the non-English speaking world They are the first non-English speaking group to have considerable success in major English-speaking countries And is the first group to break with the hegemony of NorthAmerican, English and Australian artists in the music market dominated by British culture.
ABBA is an acronim with the initials of their first names; initialy was two swedish couples too:
A- Agnetha (blonde lead vocal) &
    B- Björn (guitarist and songwriter)
B- Benny (pianist and songwriter) &
A- Anni Frid (brunette lead vocal)
(both couples separated before the breakup of the group in 1982)
"Dancing Queen" is their biggest worldwide hit and ABBA flagship song
it was #1 in a lot of countries al over the world in 1976, included the only #1 to ABBA at US Billboard in 1977
ABBA recording between 1972/1982, have a wonderful series of more than 20 worldwide hits, included nine #1 in UK:
    Waterloo
    Mamma Mia
    Fernando
    Dancing Queen
    Knowing me knowing you
    The name of the game
    Take a chance on me
    The winner takes it all
    Super trouper

ABBA was NOT a disco group, but disco was emerging and this WAS a definite nod to disco music. Later on, other songs had that specifically disco beat - namely, Voulez-Vous, and Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.
They were not incorrect in thinking that Dancing Queen is a disco song. Where would the girl be dancing, when the lights are low, looking out for a place to go? She is the Queen of the dance floor, not a ballroom dance floor, but a discotheque dance floor.
Their return with Voyage was after 40 years exactly.

Welcome to the world of ABBA! They were huge and I mean HUGE in the 70s and 80s. They were 2 Swedish married couples. Agnetha the blonde was my married to Bjorn the guitarist and Ani-Frid aka Frida or Annie the Auburn haired girl married Benny the pianist. They have sold over 400 million records. Only the Beatles have sold more. They were way ahead of their time making videos to their music. This was way before MTV. they have made a new album last year after 40 years! They also built a one of a kind theatre where they have started putting on concerts with avatars aka abbatars by their fans. Not holigrams. So real! They spent months wearing cameras to capture every movement so it's actually their movements. Sold out months ahead of time. Try their songs Voules vous, Fernando, Chiquitita, Take a chance on me, knowing me and knowing you. So many to choose from. Nobody and I mean nobody harmonizes like Frida and Agnetha

"Dancing Queen" refers to the queen of Sweden. The Swedish king, not being married, met her in a disco. As in the song she was at the age of seventeen. ABBA performed this song at the king and queen's wedding.

There sure are a lot of urban myths about ABBA and that's another one. 'Dancing Queen' was written nearly a year before it was actually released in 1976. It was first publicly performed at a gala the night before the Swedish royal wedding. Queen Silvia was 32 years old at the time. an she had first met the future King four years before. Although it was very apt for the occasion, the song title was pure coincidence.

The disco era began with Jive Talkin by the Bee Gees and the moaning of Donna Summer in 1975. ABBA's disco influenced tracks tended to be Summer Night City (with a rock twist), most notably Voulez Vous (featuring Earth, Wind & Fire horns) and the still popular Gimme, Gimme (A Man After Midnight).
The pop band ABBA have always been open to other styles of music: listen to the R'n'B influenced The Name Of The Game, the rocking song package Does Your Mother Know+Hole In Your Soul/Live Wembley 1979 (you'll blush with embarrassment) or the power ballad The Winner Tales It All. Have fun with all kind of good music👍✌

It's never been used in commercials, it was on the radio ALL the time, and a lot of wedding receptions play this and EVERYONE gets on the dance floor and EVERY ONE knows the words! She is only DANCING she is not looking for sex guys, geez! LOL! 1976 "that is old" Well that hurt! My second child was born in 1976 and I was 29 years old! After THE BEATLES, ABBA is my second favorite group ever. You can't go wrong with ANY of their songs. The stage musical and movie "MAMA MIA" are both FANTASTIC ( I like the movie BETTER, though) and all the songs in both ARE ABBA songs. It's a FUN movie and you should check it out. A sequel was made called "MAMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN."

FUN review! Great to see you guys appreciate the signature pop sound of ABBA's most recognizable global hit . To continue yiur ABBA journey, I suggest another big dance hit by ABBA - " Gimme,Gimme, Gimme" "The Winner Takes It All" is an awesome power ballad and "SOS" is a more rocky sounding pop hit. There are literally dozens of other ABBA hits to review...

I was 10 when this song came out, dancing to it in my bedroom in front of the mirror trying to be like these 2 lovely ladies. These gorgeous ladies Agnetha ( the blonde) and Anni-frid ( the brunette) were famous child singers in Sweden, way before forming the band. The boys were also in Swedish bands. They are 2 married couples, they were married before starting the band. They are all still involved in music to this day, but not as a group. One interesting song of theirs is The Winner Takes it All. It was written by Bjorn and sung by his wife Agnetha just after they got divorced. The band broke up shortly after. They were considered to be POP, specifically Euro Pop. They won a contest in Europe with their hit song Waterloo which also burst them onto the music scene. They went on the be one of the most hit producing bands of all time, even to this day. Some favorites of mine, Chiquittita, The name of the Game, Take a chance on me, Lay all your love on me, super trouper, I have a dream...just to name a few....haha. They are my all time favorite band, I'm a superfan. I love to see you enjoying them 💚💜
