- I picked up this 1972 Mercury Marquis from a guy who bought it off of Derek from @ViceGripGarage. I wasn't really sure what to do with it until it dawned on me that the car would actually make a great truck! So, we build the Mercury version of the Ranchero!

BLACK SS El Camino Stripes on the hood and tailgate!! Thats all the ''El Merco'' needs
😂 beautiful, I'd drive the shit out of it!
@@richardnoggen1674no can't do that it's a Ford
Dalton’s genius astounds everyone, on e again
Holly crap I didn't know that matting was asbestos....I could have used that in my pinto....and behind back seat of mustang with drop in death tank...!!!!
I love how Dalton has bought 4-5 cars with 460s, every time saying, 'this 460 is probably going into my Torino'
he'll get there eventually
If only he would stop making them into something cool and keepable.....
Why did you trade that piece of junk for the Grand Prix? I hope you got a pile of money too
Dalton sir, Mercury did make a truck from like 48 to 68 I believe!
@@xozindustries7451 that silver grand prix wasn't mint either 😂
This is basically a how-its-made documentary for any limo ever made in the US. Cut, scab, cover with 'glass, bondo and fabric.
And hearse!
@@PoleBarnGaragecan confirm. Mine is full of fiberglass, panel bond, and crappy metal work.
@@PoleBarnGarage so there's two new project ideas. Hearse and limmo. Can't wait for those videos.
@@PoleBarnGarage how about custom wagon
@PoleBarnGarage pushmi-pullyu !!! if you read Dr Dolittle kids books ! and doolittle is your middle name !!
3:51 love this bloke not even 5 minutes into the video and starts cutting away to make a ute😂
Aussie Aussie Aussie
HOW DARE YOU DESTROY MINT CONDITION ULTRA RARE VINTAGE CAR A STARVING CHILD COULD HAVE EATEN THAT
Meta.
It's true I could have eaten that asbestos
All kidding aside I agree the car was way too nice to hack up. I'm not A big fan of the 4 door but would have been better to restore. UNLESS there was no title...
A car with a rotten frame isn't a nice car....
@@gregorybarth930 Yes, but now it's even rarer because it's a one-of-a-kind truck ;)
“This kind of body work is NOT something to be proud of” 🤣🤣🤣 i love your dad!
Dalton is always going to stay grounded with his family around 😅
I was going to make this exact comment... beat me to it. Dalton's dad is a beast!
I gotta say, painting your vehicle the exact color of the icing you used to smooth it out was a brilliant strategy.
I was thinking that too!
Brakes and some coil overs in the back and 1 more hubcap. Shes a keeper. I cant believe it either how well that turned out... You are magic sir.
Better yet, get the air suspension working - or retrofit some modern airbags - so you can adjust based on the load in the back. Some of those longer-travel bump-stops would help, too.
Dalton: "I know how to do basic things!" Jess, having just watched Dalton sitting on the roof he was chopping WHILE chopping it: "Same"
“ ..the one that looks like it’s taking a dump” - Dalton - International Man of Culture 2024 😂
Squattin like a Marqrat full of mulch!!
Ford did it, they called them funeral flower cars
I came for the destruction, I stayed for the perfection. That has no business looking that sweet.
Jess's excitement throughout the cut and chop process was so infectious!
What a hilarious project, thanks as always for the video :)
I came to this channel after seeing you on a junkyard digs episode. And now I watch every week. You quickly became my favorite to watch.
Honestly he’s better than JYD.
JYD was never the same once Luke (thunderhead 289) moved on from working with Kevin
Oh cmon, Angus is definately a step up from Luke
@@frenchiestfry8116 I like angus but I don’t really see Luke and angus being comparable, they are nothing alike. Angus is help because Kevin has enough content to make now he needed more hands, and he finally convinced angus to work with him, Luke left once Kevin started moving away from doing revivals for fun and looking at it more as a job. (Kevin himself has changed from the early days to once it became a job)
I still like it and watch him and am subscribed but it did use to be better in the early days.
I consider Kevin, Luke, Derek some of the OG revival guys on TH-cam, before revivals took off
@@jeremybennett5547 id say Angus is a better fit for the channel tbh. Hes funny and entertaining to watch, Luke did have his moments but even on the videos they shared on both jyd and th289, Kevin was usually the one making the content comedic/fun to some extent. I mean theres a reason why jyd channel blew up compared to Luke's. Plus, on a completely different note, i like to think junk yard digs is a "professional"ish version of pole barn garage, or at least less sketch lmao i love both channels and am excited to see new videos, especially when they colaborate
That’s how I got here too😂
I hope this guy never stops making 1 hour videos, he’s hilarious
I agree, but if he and his father don't start wearing some sort of dust Mask or respirator when they sand fiberglass & body filler they won't live long enough to make lots of 1 hour entertaining videos. Not trying to Poop on anyone's parade, just being thoughtful.
When you pulled that beast out into the sun, my god it looked great. I'm gonna be a little sad when you scrap this.
Also, your dad is a gem hahahaha
You took a car with no real value anymore and turned it into a truck. Now the truck still has no real value, but the shock and awe of said truck is worth something. As always, super entertaining and a neat project. Good job!
Jess is one of the least annoying persons on TH-cam, and is my favorite automotive channel female, just a cool lady
100% correct.
Yup
BUT CAN SHE COOK AND CLEAN?
Mook is not annoying either
@@GODS-PUNISHER automotive TH-cam commenters try not to be weird about women challenge! (Impossible)
Pole Barn Garage is THE MOST Entertaining channel of youtube!
Yes
You never heard of zip ties and bias plies i see.😂
This is by far the best build you have ever done... with a Mercury... transformed into a truck.... that's yellow. 😂 this is the greatest channel on TH-cam!!!
At first I was feeling nauseated, but then I started to like it, and then I thought it was kinda cool! And the color is great, the custom faux vinyl top even better. Amazing!
RIP $15 harbor freight angle grinder. You will forever live on in our memories.
Was it 2 months or 2 days 😂
It still has 30 days of warranty!
Pouring out a 40 for my boy.
Drinking that beer, NVM.
Hey that angle grinder is 40 bucks now 😢
When the 15 dollar grinders were good and lasted. I burned up a skill saw just trying to cut a tire in half.
Yes … the trip to the garden center now makes it the “Marquis de Sod”!!!!😊😊😊
underrated comment here , needs pinned for sure. LOL
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good one!
😂😂😂😂😂
Genius. Its always very satisfying watching a master at work
Definitely do a part 2 of this Dalton I would love to see you fix the issues and further improve the Mac-amino
I love your dad at 30:09 talkin about "have you looked at the car?"
With all the talk about how poorly these were assembled from the factory you at least gotta admit that whoever made that rear window glass did a hell of a job with it surviving all that hammering and slamming around like it did. Also as an Australian, I'm pretty sure every single car needs to be ute'd, they're just better!
Yes! Make a ute of all the things 😎
Bob Ross of body butchering is definitely a T-shirt that needs to be made. I would buy one. 😎👍🏼
Another great video.....just get it done know how! Fun project!
I just saw the pause for "this car has a red interior". 😂😂
Thanks for the belly laugh!
The mercuero deserves at least one more episode of greatness! You sir are truly a visionary
Agreed!
BLOODY RIPPER MATE! WE LOVE THE UTERUS HERE IN AUSSIELAND! 👍👍👍👍
Who else IMMEDIATELY read this comment with an Aussi accented inner monolog?!?! 😅
Love it!!
This is what I love about this channel. Not always will it start vids but having some fun, and making things projects look good.
Like a glove !!!
A true visionary. The music on the time laps is great...Love it Dalton
LOL! My kids were dying over the nudie dudes comment. I was bummed on Junkyard Digs Nascar video. When you were not on it. I was wrong you did make a cameo. I was falling out of my chair. LOL!
Thanks for the heads-up, I need to go see Kevin's new Motorhome vid... I believe this may include NASCAR, maybe...IDK
😂
He fell out of the chair too!
@@pgtmr2713 That's what I was referring to. 🤣 Trying to find one of those chairs....
That’s property is starting to look like a 70s used car lot! This episode was great!
When the water was rushing toward Dalton while he was on the floor 😂 You guys are awesome. Thank you as always for the awesome content and inspiration 🤘
That Mercarino turned out pretty damn good Dalton!!! Looks cooler than the way it would’ve been from factory!!
That thing is freaking majestic! Upgrade the rear shocks, fill the "bed" with water, and you have an epic rolling pool!!
I think you meant "Rolling Poo" lol!!
I'm not mad at this idea.
@@precise1329 ... it'll need wings to fly ... 🤗 ...
I kind of like the hot tub idea. The mcmercero el hot tubo
I was thinking same thing. Put a pool in the back with a hot tub. Its gonna need way bigger springs though.
Just when I thought you couldn't do something dumber, you totally redeem yourself.
I absolutely love this car .
Please don't ever change. Every video is without a doubt some of the very best on TH-cam.
Dalton Legend and son knock it out of the ballpark! What a great adventure filled episode, with nice bed flare to boot
I remember a FELLER driving this on 7 cylinders ..never expected DALTON to own it..at first I was apprehensive about cutting up the Land yacht...but THE SELF TAPPER KING IS A GENIUS...

This my favorite episode of Pole barn Garage. GOOD JOB, OUTSTANDING WORK.
Ford made a Ranchero, call it the RanChurro or just The Churro.
Recently found your channel and love that it's not the same old boring "found in field, make it run" style of video! Keep on keeping on, sir!
"At least most people dont watch this part of the video" Hahaha loveit
When I see your Dad in the picture...on the scene... all I can say is lucky you.....that you have him ...to say you learned from... I never had that......and you get to teach your son....lucky him...all around.......just good vibes......
I've heard people call Dan from DD Speed Shop a hack, then Dalton comes along and says: hold my beer! Keep doing what you do Dalton. I'm lovin' it, just like Mickey D's!
As someone who has "Been there, done that" it is AWESOME to see it done again by a younger generation! Keep it REAL Dalton!!
The Bob Ross of body butchery!!! I love it, there are no mistakes just happy little accidents is the best fraise ever. I love the name and how it turned out.
"phrase", sir 😂
It's 2024, yes Bob Ross was cool but the constant comparisons and parroting of his phrases are getting old already.

Diy el camino hell yeah. This is what youtube was made for!!!
I keep saying every single videos I have no clue how he doesn’t have a massive following. The stuff he does is absolutely insane and amazes me more and more. Give this man a raise
Best way spend a Saturday. Good beer and deer steak and watchin PBG.
Sunday morning here in New Zealand
You've really outdone yourself this time Dalton. So cool!!!
It is effin' awesome. The high-load Coopers worked fine. Nobody saw the door crack, nobody.
It’s a crime that Dalton doesn’t have a million subscribers is an absolute crime !! Protect this man at all cost he’s an absolute legend!!!
Give it time. He has gone from 199k to 202k since his last video. I am sure that he is going to become a big star.
Ranchero all the land yachts! I love these chaotic builds, gives dangerous ideas for my projects.
Father and son Car Butchery, senior edition. This one was great. I like it too! Take a random guess on some inappropriate truck springs for the back, fix up the air-ride and tweak the mechanicals and it'll be a real TRUCK. A practical, usable TRUCK. Because we like TRUCKS. Don't worry about the crack in the side, it's just the body breaking itself in (half).
Always great to see PBG Senior make an appearance!
I used one of the purple hobo freight guns on my high school era mud truck. I completely disassembled it, and cleaned it with mineral spirits before use. After that I mixed my $40 gallon of rustoleum with mineral spirits 2 to 1 plus a hint of hardener. Was my first paint job, and didn’t have a single run on top of laying out like glass with zero orange peel, besides a thin spot I had on the tailgate where my cup ran out.
This was insanely awesome. Basically a home-made El Camino. You win the Internet today!
Absolutely love it. You need to rewind time and put that thing in FoMoCo's 1971 lineup. "Visit your local Lincoln-Mercury showroom and get yours today!"
The Barnchero turned out sweet. Got me tuning in every episode.
Your dynamic with Jess is lovely to hear! You guys are awesome to watch and when JD makes an appearance too.
Finally someone using these cars for something useful. I used to buy these cars in the 90s for 200 bucks a pop for donors for my off road habit.
good as daily drivers
The most dangerous villain for a car. The Pole Barn Butcher😂😂❤
Now that is bad azz! Glad to see someone using a suction feed, I thought my JGA 702 was obsolete. Keep that truck!
Congrats on 200k Bro.
Pole Barn Garage and Puddin's Fab Shop are the 2 funniest Automotive channels on this platform. I never miss either of your videos. 😎🇺🇲🤘
I completely agree. I keep my eyes peeled for these channels myself. Because they build cool cars and have fun doing it.

That thing is seriously cool. Actually the color looks pretty slick too!
This guy is the best youtuber on backyard fabrication and bodywork another great video can't wait for next installment, thanks Dalton
Jess. keeper Done. Fully fluent in sarcasm. Love it.
How can something so bad be SO GOOD! Shes a keeper for sure!
The fact that you showed the crack on the rear door at the end i really appreciated. When you were putting expanding foam in that door crack all i could think about was body flex😂😂
Beautiful creation i love it!💜
Put that thing in a parade and everyone will love it. Dalton you’re evil auto genius.
I saw someone here in Australia 🇦🇺 do the same thing to a 67 Impala. He took 15 years, You did it in a few days. Shows you can do it quickly if you want to 👍
My mother drove me to my first day of kindergarten in my grandparents grand marquis and it was the metallic green that originally came on these cars!.
I think this is one of the coolest things ever been done 21 of these mercuries!
I am watching this on may twelve which is my birthday and I want to thank you for making my birthday!
Not welding the rear doors is not all it's "cracked up " to be 😂. I myself would have definitely used some self tappers for securing the doors for structural strength 💪. Now all you need is a 4×4 F250 and steel the entire drivetrain to make the Mercurino a real workhorse, maybe even a little lifted 😮! This will make not only for a great video, but whilst also produce more videos, like the 460 to Torino swap!!
Thanks again Dalton, Jess and J.D. for the informative, and highly educational videos. I can't wait to go out and convert my wife's BMW now! 😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Love your style, keep rocking it!
The precision re-engineering and panel redistribution was awe-inspiring! Then your genetic predisposition for fine craftsmanship was demonstrated by your dad. The flood scenes were harrowing! The end result is a ute-inspired tour de force! Impressive! Colorful! Not even embarrassing! I could watch a hundred of these videos. Thanks!
1971 Ford-Lincoln, Mercury Cougar MASTERPIECE. I love it.
200k subscribers well deserved. i'm a uk based truckdriver running all over europe. love the channel. cheers greg
We deserve a Pole Barn Garage/DD Speed Shop build.
DD speed shop kinda sucks
This is sick. Honestly keep it, and have fun with it. It turned out way better than I thought it was.
Great outcome. Yes fix its issues so you can take it and some of your other rides to the local car shows and get reactions from people.
I had a good chuckle at the Australianism.. it's not every day that an American calls something a 'Ute" and for the sheer budget build of this, and the 4 days it took, I'm suitably impressed.. but damn, wouldn't be able to drive that on the road here. Oh, loved your dad's "It's just spot putty" comment, my brain immediately said "Bloody big spot there mate". :-)
This is peak engineering mixed with pure madness and I’m all for it.
Back in the day, many people converted their
Model T's or, what have you, into pickups, right at home, just as you have. And this is what makes the Mercury McMullet a Very Turditional ride. We're also awarding bonus points here for absolutely nailing the whole Carolina Squat thing. Great job! Easily an 11 out of 10 on the PBG customs and conversions scale. 👍
Beautiful!! it helps to turn off all the shop lites after the paint is on and turn on a light on far end of shop, that way bugs dont die in your paint as it dries. I think maybe some painted panels on the side or WOOD GRAIN! like a 70s Ranchero. The Muse clearly was with you on this one>
Marquis De Sod!.. That's what the name of this one should be when ya have the t-shirts made, 'cause I'd like one in an extra large.
Yes!
This is the kind of content I live for: good effort wasted on dumb projects, unexpectedly turning them into something unique and amazing!
