- Derek goes off the deep end with an '80s icon, the DeLorean. It's been wrecked, painted, and doesn't run, but Derek and his friends change all that with a good old junkyard LS. See if they can power this time machine and make it to LS Fest in Kentucky.

This build should have been on Derick's channel. Would have liked to see a much more in depth look at what it took to make this build happen.
Yes
This isn't the full episode. The full one is about 20-30 min longer and has more of the shop work, and more racing at the end. It's on Motortrend's subscription streaming service.
(or , y'know,* other* places...)
This one is from Season 2, episode 12
@@pileofstuff MotorTrend doesn't have a streaming service anymore.
The full episodes require a MotorTrend subscription. I don't know why they don't just put them all on youtube, the ad revenue would probably dwarf whatever they're getting for subscriptions right now.....
@@MaverickBlue42 There is no MotorTrend subscription! It is all folded into Discovery+.
I really wish that content creators would realize, that when making automotive videos, no one wants the music added in over the car sounds!
YES
I don't agree (Matt's car show has the greatest sad music soundtrack when visits a junkyard)
+1
People always think that their choice of music is the best in the World
But this is for the older folk
"it runs like a toilet" dammit, made me spit out my beer 😂
Living in Australia we don't get to watch anything on motor trend plus I was a subscriber but once they restricted what we could see I didn't bother anymore it wasn't worth it
Same In Denmark…. Sub 5 plus years
Same here in Sweden

I’m not sure what Restrictions you Fella’s Speak on. I like Derek but I’m not Paying to Watch Motor Trend, I’ll catch what I can and Just Stew on the Other Material. Keep it Safe Out There
What? Really? I didn't know about such restrictions at all
Throw on your pirate hats mateys 😂
Now that just looked like a fun car to build. No special requirements, no parameters that you had to meet. Just build it and drive it. Love those kind.
There is a DMC purest that is crying watching this episode
A guy's got a used genuine engine the purist can have to make him feel better...
if the purist cared , the dmc wouldnt be dead in a field
It was ruined long ago.
@@pileofstuff, BINGO!
One can hope.
Peugeot / Renault / Volvo 2.85 litre, V-6 with a single overhead cam per in each head - power output strangled by US emission laws.
And Bosch Jetronic. Which is great when it works.
That is so much quicker than a regular DeLorean, and much more fun.
That is the way the DeLorean should have always sounded!!
Yes!! Should of came with at least a SBC 350!!
Yeah the designers skimped on the engine power.
Yep.
totally
FWIW, the original prototypes weighed about 500lbs less than the production models and were also mid engine like an MR2. I think it is fair to say what came out of the factory was not what the original designers had in mind from the rip.
Needs a suspension upgrade & u have a winner in my book 🤩💪
& Brakes
That stainless steel body is mighty heavy, physics is against it.
@@habsom1406 incorrect, stainless panels bolted to a fiberglass composite body
I can hear the sound of the DeLorean fanatics screaming; do not break this part.. or this one.. or this one... these are national treasures..!!
They really are treasures, They're part of America motor history, and are really expensive
Part of American history made in Northern Ireland
@@Sanjuro2112 A lot of America's history has come from other countrys like the Statue of Liberty or hamburgers
I’m not even a Delorean fanatic, and it hurts me to see this thing being manhandled like this. There’s only so many original parts left. Even if you want to do a swap, you don’t have to cut through so many components that just don’t exist anymore.
Where’s the car guy love for cars?
Ol' Cleetus would be proud of the height you raised the engine to after pulling it with the forklift 😂
I believe he's been to the Freedom Factory, one too many times. He's breathing in those Florida boy race gas fumes a little too much... Or just about enough. 😅
cleetus is a jackass.
As much as I love Derrick ,even he cant save that show...
NOPE.
This show existed prior to Derrick?
Man, you really like the hard cases. Tyler Hoover thinks he's got lemons. Hoovie doesn't know real pain. This is a guys car channel here. Love your channel....😊
As a DeLorean owner I had issue with “the car should have lasted 10 minutes.” My car brings smiles wherever it goes and the values are only going up.
The Deloren northern Irelands greatest gift to motoring.....the best thing to leave belfast since the Titanic....😂😂
Lasted about the same length of time too..fairly certain titanic made it more miles than most delorens
@@rival9417 on the other hand the grey furguson tractor and Dunlop tyres were more of a success story..
@@nialldoherty7122 don't forget the jump jet.
Titanic was built in Belfast but the Captain was an Englishman.
@@robblack7560 no way😲....lol titanic is the most known and published maritime disaster,,,I think most people know that.....did you also know he was responsible for titanic sinking? Due to his lack of regard to iceberg warnings and going too fast for the conditions? ..built by the Irish..destroyed by the English...its in keeping with normal relations between the two....😉
Roadworthy rescue is motor trends best show! Cool episode only complaint is I wish the episodes were longer! Us gear heads like a little more detail building and more content of the car when it's finished so we can enjoy all there hard work...
That jacked up rig in the background is interesting looking.
This is a dream come true for any DMC fans! Thanks for the build!
Now thats a Delorean they should have made😂
I must have missed Derek’s episode with the monster truck!!?? Or maybe it’s coming
Even as a mess in 2024 that car is still beautiful to me.❤
Awesome build! Do more with it on your main channel. Put an aluminum block in it to reduce the weight in the back, it might handle better (with better suspension too).
I do love the velocity stacks...perfect!
This is how the DeLorean SHOULD have been powered in the first place...big ol' V-8 (like a Pantera or a Vector)!
Well done guys!
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
If that delorean could smile, it would he grinning gullwing to gullwing. Thats the most fun that car has ever had in its life.
if this is "budget" then I only want budget builds! Its BEAUTIFUL
Thanks Holmes!! Love the show!!
OK, The LS Delorean vs the Tony Angelo "Sour-krout"
so glad hes on t.v i knew this was gonna happen, you should have been on t.v a long time ago, great work Derick!
I think it looks pretty cool. Nice work!
Kickass episode. Look forward to many more...
Absolutely love the content brother 😊
PRV: Peugeot, Renault, Volvo.
This three companies have developped this engine together in the 70's. Very reliable engine but not very powerfull. In the 90's a turbo version of this engine was engaged in the 24h of le Mans and put out 600 Hp on the Venturi 400 LM.
Dude, Freiburger and Finnegan are jealous.
Car sounded phenomenal! Would love to see how the exhaust was ran. Even a quick tid bit on cooling system. Fun build.
The Roadworthy Exotics jingle then immediately dropping the engine was peak timing lol.
Are these cut down? It feels like I'm watching the video in fast forward or something. I really appreciate the length of his normal videos a lot more
That looked super fun!
Never tought i would say it.. But that delorean is badass !! 🤘
I really wish they’d make the episodes longer and include more of the content.
Love it. Keep em coming.
Now thats too much fun. So cool thank you
Coolest DeLorean that I've ever seen!
Can’t believe their worth money today lol pretty cool
A guy was down there and saw you and it made my day that’s for sure. Just by seeing you 😂
I definitely need to see this episode in Max!
Where can you do that ?
Great job guys.
That's so amazing fastest DeLorean out there
Would love to see more of the Delorean sounds good wish you could drive it to my place to get a closer look
Now that was fun and cool thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
Bravo gents! Love the vid!
Your graceful exit from the front seat reminds me of me! 😆
Great Episode!
you have made me a happy person by doing this swap.
Dang that was waaaaaaay to short. Keepemcoming
Derrick,that was very cool
Drives like a cinder block but man it sounds good!
Those are some picturesque spider webs!!
Way too much fun....excellent....
that looked like a heck of a drive. :)
That is friggin rad! I'd drive the heck out of it.
That car is awesome!!!!!!!!!
Best mechanic
AWESOME!
Gotta admit, that “too big of a cam” sounds great and looks like it was right at home in this combo.
That was fun!!!
Great Scott!
The right way to do it😎🔥
Great video!
Now it actually matches the sound with the engine. In the movie they had that v8 sound with stock 6 banger.
Nice I like these episodes
That is awesome
1.21 jigawatts later .. It will be nailed to the future of something great! Let the force be with you OB1
Forks pointed down and no pin moving in reverse makes total sense.
Love the safety glasses while all that rust and dirt in raining down.
Marty McFly Approved!
I like the full VGG.
Dolorean Yoga... nice...
Really Rad that you guys did this to a old DeLorean? I seen like 4 people dones this so far on TH-cam. Still REALLY Rad to see!!!
Never seen a delorean go that fast
that was damned fun to watch. well done.
Excellent
nice dodge truck in the background. love those wheels on it.
Amazing!
The poor teacher.. I'm over the Ls swaps.. but At least it's not made of wood like the lambo..lol
How many times have you heard the national anthem, are you over that too? Those red blooded American screeching eagles of the god fearing LS will never get old no matter what hood they’re under MURICA SCREEEEEEEEEEECH 🦅🇺🇸
actually the back shelf behind the drivers seat in the DeLorean is made of wood...
@@Flamehara "How many times have you heard the national anthem"
Too many
"are you over that too"
Yes
But I have no issue with any LS swap, keep those coming.
Reliable, plenty of HP, great aftermarket performance support, and they fit nicely in a Delorean. It's a win win.
WOOOW VGG 😎RUN ⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥
This thing is Cool !!!!!!!
A v8 is what those cars needed. I love those cars
My father had a DeLorean back in the day and wished he had bought two, spent more time non starting and leaks! Lance Bush was looking for an DeLorean engine, the valley of death...hmm! Cheers from the UK.
The valley of DEATH IS STRONG.
Awesome!
I know the Guys in Bogata Texas are looking for a DeLorean engine. Their engine is toast.
cool build :)
Great scott!!!!
If you make it hat work. You are officially my hero 👍💯🇱🇷
That was cool
HOLY SHEEIGHT!!!! I"M LAUGHING SO HARD WITH ENJOYMENT!!!!!!
Flippin Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you going to do a win the LS DeLorean Drawing;-) That car is awesome!
This hunk of stainless steel is faster than my stainless dinner fork😮
Say what you will about the delorean, but I love how it looks. Such a beautiful design.
