I have the KAiOS v. 1.0 but it's a little too basic for me I'll have to return it and get this instead. I so loved the flips, always great call quality and OS were so fast

I have the Alcatel Go Flip 3, essentially the exact same phone. Love it! It's my main phone, and hotspot a phablet and or laptop when needed. It's an awesome phone. Highly recommend it.

The main reason involved texting, specifically the input method. I've turned off the predictive text and the next-word suggestions, yet they still come up. As an example, I press the key to get a "T" but when I hit the key to get an "h" the "T"changes into a "U" and then adding some extra letters. When selecting a letter from the list that comes up does the same thing.
I'd prefer the old method of selecting each letter on the Key Pad. It was easy and reliable.
A followup to my previous comments. It seems that the phone was still set for predictive text even when it was turned off in the settings since I had been set that way when was in Notes. Cycling through modes (Initial Caps, Lower Case, Upper Case and Numbers) took care of the issue for me. With Predictive turned off in the settings it didn't appear in the modes.

I remember owning an Alcatel Quickflip. It had a headphone jack as well, but it delivered audio as mono, and it wasn't even real mono, it was whatever was supposed to play on the right headphone on both channels. Does this do the same?
I bought an AT&T unlocked Smartflip, and I wonder who will release the software updates and how long will this device be supported by KaiOS
Found your review of this phone, thinking of getting it for my dad, he doesn't like smartphones, he doesn't want to learn either, I think this might be something I might be able to get him to use
My husband isn't much for "learning" either.....he hasn't been doing well with this phone. Neither one of us can find the speakerphone function! ha ha
when you do reviews you should show how easy or not it is to make a call or send a message its something all reviewers neglect to do and after all thats what the phone is for. For instance I bought my wife a doro phone but its really too much faffing around to send a message or a text & nearly a third of the screen is taken up with the persons name you are calling.. Most of the stuff in reviews you can find out on the manufacturers website.

With a phone like this ide like to see a yearly subscription that replaces and or upgrades for like $50 a year with included encrypted backup for 100% of the data on the phone and SD card.

This phone appears to be the same phone as the Tracfone Alcatel My Flip 2. Seems to be the same specs and all. Wonder why they give it them different names? I have an LG Classic Flip right now and thinking of switching to the Alcatel just for the TH-cam app and Google mail.

My Tracfone version of this phone does not have the Google services. Can't get it through the KaiOS store.
Nothing like the satisfaction of flipping open a phone to answer a call.

This phone keeps on trying to load contacts when I tried to input new contacts. The loading contacts been spinning for hours, what’s the fix?

The one in this phone is tiny. The other one that I think you're talking about is much bigger. That's what my husband had before this new one
The tech simply trimmed off a short piece of my RAZR SIM and installed it, no problem.

This device is good on wifi, but when not connected to wifi and using the data it only last about 7 hours standby without usage. Not sure how to change that, seems to be a problem with kaios devices i've had. Signal is great.

What's the difference between SmartFlip, Go Flip 3, Go Flip V, and My Flip? I notice some have Google Assistant, some don't. Some have an app store, and some don't. Is there like chart somewhere that shows the differences?
All of these are identical
I have also noticed that the app store on the myflip is limited. Besides TH-cam, no Facebook, Twitter, no other Google apps.
On cricket how much a month
I wish Motorola would bring back the Razor, Krazor flips again. Add maps, and some kind of MP3, would be all I need.
I've been a huge Moto fan for years, so I agree a true Moto flip phone with KaiOS for under $100 USD with a beefy battery, and decent design would be great for people who don't need a full Android device, or just want a cheap backup phone, or a first phone for a kid.
I stopped by an AT&T store to ask if a flip phone that has speech-to-text text messaging and the associate said this would do it. 8:30

This is one of the coolest phone I've seen for almost 20 years, all smartphones nowadays are same and boring.
Would like to know much more about texting & messaging. Is it conversation text like smartphones have, or just isolated individual messages? Is there an artificial limit to the number of texts I can hold (eg 500, like in the old dumbphone days)?

You're missing the whole fundamental point of this phone, it's simplicity of use for senior users. You don't demo the essential functions they need: how to make a call, answer a call and end a call. If they could use features like the ones you review they would simply get a standard smart phone. For what you demo, it is good for someone not so impaired.

Battery life 4-6 days ,ON 24 hrs a day. Not sure if it has vibrate but it has great adjustable volume.
I know how to 'set up' Speed Dial, but can't for the life of me figure out how to use it.

i love my flip phone.. i am never getting an iphone/smartphone.. i have a laptop i am on now.... so i am not completely off line.. i just want a phone to call people on.. don't even do much texting.. this phone does a lot of stuff i don't know how to do.. but maybe some day i will figure it out.. and no one is ever going to steal my 30 dollar flip phone. and if they do.. i'll just buy another one......................
Don't bother buying, difficult to use and lacking features, like showing minutes on screen. It can be done but is inconvenient.

I bought this phone to replace my LG that went thru the washer and dryer... Sorry to say this phone is junk. Hard to navigate and people on the other end couldnt hear me..I ended up throwing it away and repurchasing the LG flip like the one I had before.

Please stop perpetuating the lie that this has Google Assistant. Unlike every other Google app on the phone, "Assistant" can't connect to your Google account so there goes 95% of the core functionality of Assistant! No Home control, no calendar integration, no broadcast, no voice match, etc. It's just dumb voice activation. I get that these are lighter versions of these apps, for example Maps doesn't do real-time navigation, but Assistant is supposed to be an AI assistant, and this "Lite" version lacks that core functionality, and their advertising it as if it were the real thing is straight up false advertising. There are plenty of speakers and displays out there with "integrated Google Assistant" and I've never heard of another without account access.
