T9 is awesome once you learn it~
How do you use the voice to text?
Not cool for English as second language. Phone mispelles. I tried with Google. I quit.

I've got one of these. When I start to feel overwhelmed with my smartphone, or find I'm mindlessly flipping through social media too much, I pop my sim into this and take a break for a while. People know when I've switched phones cuz everyone gets a phone call, or a 1 word text message lol
It's very refreshing indeed; to receive a voice call, not from telemarketers.

I am a site supervisor for a security company at a local mall and we use same phone and doing a 14 hour shift doesn't even put a dent in the battery

We still use our flip phones, but need to upgrade before they are not supported anymore...will get another set of some kind. I'm sure we will have use the texting feature now, but prefer to use phone over text....Merry Christmas
Yep, our flip phones are still working, for how much longer, who kmows...looking into upgrading, finally....boo hoo!!!!! We really got our money's worth out of our flip phones...lol....

Call me crazy but this 51 year old is looking forward to having one. I love it's small design (fits in pocket better than my big phone). All I need it for is for phone and text so all the other stuff is a real treat. The gentleman at my AT&T store said it's really a smart phone in a flip phone body. As I get older I find myself wanting the things I enjoyed in the past, and I loved my flip phone. :-) Happy New Year everyone!

With you 100% Terry. I got my first smartphone 3 months back, and have regretted it ever since. Too bulky and all the extras go unused by me. So old school I was one of the last hundred people to get ANY cell phone. Loved my flip phone HATE the smartphone. (I'm 71)
Definitely not crazy. Even this 13 year old would choose a flip phone with internet over an actual smartphone any day.
Honestly all I need are my messaging apps a bit of social media and fast internet connection and wifi. If I need games there's a laptop and a tablet at home.

It's the only app I care about and yet none of the reviewers seem to understand this some how!! From what I've learned is that the Google maps is directions only, NOT turn by turn navigation!
@@surfside75 Correct. Google Assistant can't connect to your Google account either so it is just glorified speech-to-text. That ruined this phone for me.

It will serve a purpose for those who do not like all the new tech but use it once in a while...I can think of at least one curmudgeon in particular who might prefer this. I kept my flip phone from Motorola and sounds like the specs may be close - chuckle. Something for everyone - a lid for every can as they say.

i've only ever used a flip....i just got this one yesterday because the model before it that i had for i don't know how long finally had to be replaced.
Im hoping get myself a flip phone this week, going check the stores. Was going to metro pcs since some near me, but heard alot bad things about them. Might be better if go to walmart or target. ^^ Its nice that these old phones are coming back.

A lot of people need to go back to using flip phones with all the crazy stuff people do nowadays.
I love that retro model with flip, it's close to the motorola flip ones, and nextel models.
I think the best one is the Start tac model, I almost forgot it. but they all are the best models to me.
Thin, cheap, great battery lasting, and with just the apps many people just use, not else as it's the price too.

HUGE THANKS. Finally, someone who understands that we "old-timers" who didn't grow up with "tech" need extra help understanding all the new and admittedly good technology. It is far beyond frustrating dealing with people who think we're stupid because we don't inherently understand this stuff. But believe me, it is FAR easier learning to drive a manual transmission car for a first timer than it is for a first timer to "get it" with digital technology. Yet how many young can drive a standard? Again, thanks for not condescending to all of us gray hairs.
Unfortunately there are still those, who are not in the know about the current refresh of an interest in flip phones, and they make fun of anyone seen using a flip phone, thinking it's an old person's device who hasn't moved with the times. "What fools these mortals be" as Shakespeare wrote. They're squares. The times they are a changin' and the smart "dumb"phones are returning in vast numbers. I'm considering one for myself. So there! LOL! And I don't care what anyone may think. Be your own person. Peace, y'all! ♐
We hope you never lose your phone but if you do... this one is so cheap it won't hurt your wallet.

I still carry a tiny LG tracfone dumb phone (lg 329g) as my primary cell phone. Hard to move on from such a tiny device.

Hey, if your T9 texting skills are rusty...you can actually do speech-to-text on this flip! Just use Goggle assistant. I've been using the Alcatel Myflip (through Tracfone) for a while now, running Kaios 2.5 with the Kaios store, but without the assistant, maps, you tube etc... and I really like this flip phone. Will be getting the Smartflip very soon.

could I use 'square' via browser to charge credit cards. I'm assuming no way to use Square app and card swiper. Can all those social media junk be deleted?
A friend just bought an Alcatel and it will not tell your minutes left. I did find a way around it but I would not want one. I use an LG stylo 4 and I love it. It is my home phone also and a backup computer.

Why are they using the "Cingular" name in this when they killed that name off some time ago? I have one of these and it even has the old orange Cingular logo on the box. Im very confused. They wanted nothing to do with the name and seemed anxious to drop it some years back?

I have an older friend who just got one of these, but he hates the speed dial feature where if you hold down one of the number keys too long, it asks if you want to assign the number to a contact. He is a "heavy" dialer so quite often when he goes to push the first digit of a phone number, the speed dial assign message pops up and he can't finish dialing the full number for a phone call. Any way to disable this feature altogether?
I’d love to have that, I need a phone that will fit in my front pocket and still be able to button it up, working labour jobs i lose my phone out of my pocket all the time when i bend over to pick something up.

I have this phone and one of the things I love about it is, that I CAN USE GOOGLE ASST. Microphone to send text messages. Flip phones have always been the coolest phone ever designed. They are not bulky and they fit perfectly in your pocket or purse.
How can I activate that feature
The Alcatel SmartFlip uses a Nano Sim; the AT&T Micro sim from my old phone will not fit. There are ways to pull existing Data from the older and larger AT&T sim chip to the Nano Sim chip used by the Alcatel SmartFlip. How?

i just got mine today, been setting up, only problem is i have a lot of contacts, how do i download them into the new phone? my previous flip is 3g, sim card to big and not compatible to switch and copy, so, anyone out there know how to transfer the contact data to new 5g from 3g phone without having to manually one by one typing all of that info into new phone??? thanks, sure appreciate it.

How well does the T9 work on this? I'm very close to purchasing one of these. I can do without snapchat and instagram, but texting with T9 would be essential. Also, what are the ODDS that galaxy buds work on here? lmao. Probably won't be necessary if I can't get to google play music though.

I can't be there in person so your video allowed me to know what she was seeing on her phone and walk her through the steps. The fact that you showed all of the settings screens was a lifesaver. She is just terrible with electronics so no way she could do it on her own. Thanks again!
