Es ist wunderbar zu hören, wie die ganze Lobhudelei zu einer großen mystischen Einheit verschmilzt.

When Celibidache became chief conductor of Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Karajan scoffed about this provincial orchestra. Celibidache demonstrated him and music world how to create a symphonic orchestra of world-class. Because Karajan wasn't 'familiar' with Bruckner only MPO with Celibidache and NDR Symphonic Orchestra with Wand became world's leading Bruckner orchestras that time.

You've obviously never heard a concert of the Münchner Philharmoniker under Celibidache. Karajan was a charlatan compared to him.

I do apologise but just think that Karajan's first performances of Bruckner's Music - including symphonies nos. 5, 7,8,9 and the Te Deum - were in the early 40s and 50s, WELL BEFORE CELIBIDACHE AND WAND even touched a Bruckner's score. I Think it is better if you inform you about this fact. I can give a full list of performances by Karajan in those years, if interested...

Not important when Karajan plays Bruckner. Is matter how Bruckner sounds under his hand and how it sounds under Celibidache. Karajan charlatan? Wait to see Berstein.

I am not aware of the quote you mention, but it could have been an acknowledgement of what, from what I remember was the general view at the time, namely that Celibidache was unique in educating orchestras, in making excellent ones from provincial ones. In the 70-ies, I played in an amateur orchestra the conductor of which was Patrick Strub, a violinist in the Stuttgarter Radio Symphonie Orchestra, the conductor of which, at the time was Celibidache, and Strub was adamant about the orchestra having regained the ability to go on tour under Celibidache. The big concern rather was with the ability to keep Celibidache, and Celibidaches health, and the expectation of his working with the Munich Philharmonic was that the orchestra would turn another one.
Whilst most of the critics did not want to bother with this view, there also was an article in Spiegel which basically argued that the musical capitals were staffing their orchestras with the wrong people, with Celibidache being the example of how things could have been better.
There is a slightly strange side element to this discussion: Some say that Karajan developed the conducting style we know from films (closed eyes, unclear signals) in response to him recognizing that he was not up to Furtwängler and Celibidache when taking the Berlin Philharmonic over, so he wanted to let them play similar to how they had done before.
