    Maestro Sergiu Celibidache was the best Conductor in the world. A brilliant genius, just with his Orchestra I can hear such woderful sounds. He did so much rehearsal until the sound of all the instruments came out perfectly. Unmatched, incomparably beautiful.

    Fascinating. He has such a clear conception of the piece. This rehearsal really shows the work that goes into a live performance.

    Musicality oozes out of his every pore. This is what, added to his academic understanding of music, made him such an inspiration for those who think for themselves.

    This is a remarkable recording and a legacy of one of the greatest conductors of my ken. It's a totally intimate relationship which the maestro establishes with the orchestra, and the end result is a performance of great calibre. He knows 一期一会 ... Thank you for uploading and sharing.

      When I was a student at Oberlin, Pierre Boulez did his rehearsal of Stravinsky Rite of Spring, Berg Sieben Frühe Lieder and Debussy Three Nocturnes with the Oberlin Orchestra, and women's choir from memory. Never seen anything like it. He even knew the rehearsal numbers.

    the way, he treats and conducts this orchestra is so different from the rehearsal with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Probably he did it with the BPO on purpose, because he hated them. Revange, as the clip said.

    this is so interesting to see. I love how celibidaches behavior and his way of conducting is a perfect personificated parody of a conductor, the same way he sees this piece in relation to others. "just a little bit vulgar". While bashing violing from scratch and going absolutely mad over strokes in an a truly egomaniac way, the results of his work seem to justify all practices..

    • @samueloverend3517
      @samueloverend3517 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. Rehearsal is where a conductor earns his corn.
      I don't really see too much of the archetypal tyrannical conductor in him. He just knows what he wants and wants to tell the orchestra clearly. Regarding the bowing, his main complaint was that they weren't bowing in the way the score says. "Play it as written, it sounds better that way."
      I think he acts larger than life in rehearsal so the musicians will remember during the performance. It's also his way of communicating with the orchestra. At the start he sings to show which parts he wants to emphasise. By the end of the first movement, the orchestra can see it coming.

      Thomas Africa rehearsal numbers in the score

    • @CorVivaldiTelevisio
      @CorVivaldiTelevisio 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If he says 245, for example, he is referring to bar numbers, but if he says 3 or 5 or 8, he will be referring to rehearsals numbers, which divide the score in parts.

      Professional orchestra musicians are not there to have "FUN", they are there to perform a piece as best as possible. Your comment represents the view of todays vain music, used only to have fun and lightly enjoy. That isnt the case here. Fidelity is the goal here no matter the cost.
