homemade is rustic and doesnt come out perfect all the time and homemade is always better than store bought. Thank you for always sharing. Im so glad i found your channel.
THIS was your best one yet!!! You’re real!! Doing real life things on live no less and STILL you share!!! Your smile at the end when Sean couldn’t figure out how to stop recording, priceless!!! Love love love ya’ll! Thank you for being real! Life with no edits is as real as it gets and I appreciate that about you so much! Because I flub up all the time! My kids joke that I can’t cook or bake because of my mishaps yet they devour it all. I always say, it’ll eat! 🤷🏻♀️😋
This pie looks delicious, I tried this one time, but it only called for 1 crust and in a cast iron skillet. Everything was burnt, I love apple pie, so I'm going to try this again. When things went wrong, you kept going, and that shows new bakers it's ok and keep trying. We all have those days.
Hi Ali. Just made the pie tonight. I had a glass 9 inch plate, made the crust from scratch, used 2 quarts of cinnamon apple pie filling I canned last year. I baked it 20 minutes longer, May increase temp to 400 degrees next time, and my son and hubby LOVED it!!!! THANK YOU, AGAIN,
Big Bear! I used to love going there! I'm originally from Orange County, but been in Texas from Northern California for 18 years now. No worries about the video. I, for one, love that you're so real and the pie turned out great! Keep doin' you, girlfriend! 😊
You just taught us how to troubleshoot and fix our "oops". I would have freaked, but in the future I'll know to calmly re-read the recipe and adjust. Thank you!😊
I just made a crust last night and left it in the the refrigerator and have some apple pie filling I made ready to go so I am going to make this this morning! I think it’s a WONDERFUL recipe and absolutely loved your video because I cook like you! You just keep moving forward and the recipe works out! THANK YOU!
@LittleHillHomesteadGa Oh Heck No!!! Your wonderful channel is like going over to a friend’s house! Next time, just pour yourself a little “medicinal” rum and keep going!
@ I am in my 50s, and I think I was gifted mine at 26. You have motivated me to use it more instead of looking up recipes on the internet. Have a wonderful day!👩🏼🍳⏲️
I grew up with homemade apple pie my mom made, with uncooked apples piled high. She would put the top crust on and bake it. When it came to the table, she would take a spoon and crack a small hole in the top of the crust and pour in cheddar cheese bechamel (the exact same one you'd make for mac n' cheese), then slice it. Oh how we loved that! She would have me make little apple cut-outs from an extra crust, and she would affix them to the crust for decoration. Yours looks so good. Will give it a try soon!
I always use the food processor as well. Humidity has a lot to do with the way pie crust acts as well. I don’t know why pie crust is so finicky. After years of mistakes and patchwork pie crust I finally got the correct feel. I hope you made vanilla ice cream. Then I hear you mention it. Enjoy! It looks great.
So had to take a break from this video to do some chores so we don’t live in a hellhouse. But…the fact that you leave happenings in your videos is why people love you. You’re real. Don’t hide who you are. If you’re having a Tallula Feeny kind of day, rock on! *Tallula Feeny”-radio show when my parents were children.
Looks delicious. It’s okay that there were some mistakes and issues. You showed viewers how to deal with them. I have trouble making pie crust but maybe I will try this sometime.
lol I’m watching this while making sourdough pizza crusts and I literally did the same thing. Doubled the recipe but not the water. I told my husband I was losing it
LOL The video today was perfect....just like my "perfect" life! Loved every minute of it. Was in a low mood and you really cheered me up, thank you! The pie also looks delish!
The crisco and butter is sticking because you added the water too soon. It’s best to use all butter cold cut into smaller pieces. Once the flour is crumbly then slowly add ice cold water from the top of the food processor then it’ll come together with just a few short pulses.
Late this morning to watch your video! 😳 Had to take Fave Nephew to work. My buddy, Steve, makes this upside down apple pie. It’s amazing! He puts a Dutch topping on top so when you flip it there’s that crunchy topping bottom to it. It’s cuz he has never been good with the whole crust thingy. I’ve shown him a couple times how to do an easy one but he has given up and buys. But, despite the store crust this pie is so yummy! ❤
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa do you mean on the gifts as the to/from thingy or to identify the homemade product you’re gifting? I’m so gonna use this on my canning jars from now on! It’s so fun to use! I just figured out how to type in your own label instead of going with what they have-cuz I’m beyond the little babies and kids thing. But I’m a labeling fool now! Thanks for that!
OMG I love you so much! What I’d give if you were my daughter! Can I PLEASE adopt you? You’d fit in our family so well and so would Shawn!!! Y’all are the dream family! This looks SO good!!! I HAVE to try it! I always wanted a fun daughter like you!!! I HAVE to try this pie!!! Pecans are incredible and I’m not a pumpkin person! I’ll make a pumpkin pie for HIMSELF…..but I’ll make an apple pecan pie for me! Know what? HIMSELF will like mine more!!! LOL! Love youn and Shawn so much!!! ❤❤❤
We made one, didn’t know it was a “thing”, when I asked our son what he wanted for his birthday when he was in junior high. He said he wanted pie instead of a cake. Ok, which pie? He said he loved my pecan pie and an apple pie - could I combine them? I make a glaze with brown sugar, pecans, sugar, and other things and make my cinnamon rolls upside down just like this so I said I could put it under the pie shell and ta-da - our upside down apple pecan pie was born. He is married with 2 kids now and we still like it.

You are absolutely right! ❤️ thanks for making me feel better 😂
I'd like to try this

We try to keep it real because we all have those moments, right? 😂
That's both of my parents favorites fused together!! I didn't know pie fusion was a thing, lol 😆. Looks incredible!! Thanks,Ali. 😊 it's on my list

Just another day in paradise. Love your “real life” attitude. ❤
I love watching your show. You and your husband are real people. Love love ya'll. Thanks
Thank you! We try to be as normal as we can 😂 sometimes it hard.
I could literally “taste” that pie when you took the pie plate off!!
Looks yummy! Thanks for doing “you” ♥️
Thanks for watching, I hope you try it!
Very yummy looking pie!
Love how real you keep it Ali! Thanks for sharing the way you do! It looks delicious. I'm definitely going to try it!
It really is delicious! You’ll have to let me know how it turns out!
Mrs Allie your right we're all human and we all make mistakes.

We lived up there for a bit. It’s pretty but super touristy. Shawn was from diamond bar area. We have family in Orange County.
You are the so-realest-ever! I’m making this next week in honor of the “chill pill” moment!
It's all about the "chill pill" moment! 😂 I almost edited this video and decided to leave it since we all have days like that
You just taught us how to troubleshoot and fix our "oops". I would have freaked, but in the future I'll know to calmly re-read the recipe and adjust. Thank you!😊
Exactly, you can’t let the "oops" moment get you down! It's a learning experience!

I clearly don’t use my cookbook as much as you! Great job.
It’s old, many moves including cross county. It is well loved but honestly I think getting it at 19 years old was the main issue😂

I made Shawns scalloped potatoes tonight..OMG!! they are so good!! Thank you!ove all your video's ty for sharing
Glad you liked them! I love those potatoes too!
Thank you for your wonderful teaching ❤️ Pie looks delicious 😊
That is brilliant,, I am going to give it a try
Have you ever used lard. Ina said use lard, don't even ask...lol my grandma used it and so do I. Love your channel. I love that you are so real 😍
I have and it totally works. I am 99% sure I have some in the back of the cabinet. I use it when I make chicken pot pie
This pie looks amazing. Thank you

I see you 'need' a Sous-Chef. Just so ya know, I am adoptable and available! haha Love this pie.
Deal!
Thank you for the "oops"; that is what I say. LOL!! Keeping it real. Happy I found your channel. I am definitely going to try this recipe.

That’s classic! 😂
That looks amazing! I love Apple pie and I love pecans. Win!
I’ve found that I like Lard with butter for my pie crusts, about 2/3-1/3….
Holy cow that pie is stuffed with apples yummy where's mine
Sorry, we ate it all 😂 we like to fill it up. We ate it for three days and I swear it got better with age (sort of like me)

I have my grandmothers original BH&G cookbook. Appreciate your video… going to make it for the holidays! 😀

I was wondering where you were 😂😂❤️
Going to try this. I put a tablespoon of vinegar.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Instead of lemon juice? Interesting!
I think they mean in the pie crust.
That looks so tempting, but I need a recipe for one person.
You can do it in muffin tins.
PS got your labeling thingy. Love it silly! I’m labeling everything in sight! Not people or the dog though. They move around too much😂
I’m using it on Christmas gifts this year and labeling everything.

I wonder if the slicer would work if you partially froze the pears first.....🤔
Good idea. I have a ton of pear to process this week. I’ll have to try that.
