Pull the vacuum "hose" from the white vaccum sealer lid before trying to remove the vacuum lid off the jar. Works better. And if you have trouble with the "narrow mouth" lids sealing with the vacuum lid put 2 flat top lids on while vacuuming and then after you have a seal remove the top lid. The narrow mouth sealing is notorious for not sealing but do better with when using 2 lids. The top lid just lifts off but the bottom lid stays sealed.
@sheylh4780 Excellent idea. I have also found they seal better if you put the spices and powdery ingredients on the bottom and top with the more solid ingredients. That way you don't pull the spices and powder up into the white cap, hence, blocking your seal because the powders are now on your rims as well.
The way that Dan still makes you giggle like you're teenagers after you've been together so long is so wholesome to see. It's really lovely that you guys have so much fun together.
I love all these channels Chelsea it inspires me so much I am a young single man 21 years I love canning my mom will not buy spaghetti sauce. She likes mine so much she took 7 dozen quarts home with her. My goal this year is to have about 500 jars on my pantry shelf. I just moved to a new home. I have a separate kitchen in my home that is designed just for canning and I renovated the whole house to my liking and it is just beautiful. I actually want to start up a business with my canned goods. 😊
That's so wonderful, my guys learned to can growing up as well, their great grandfather was a great cook and canner. I think it is a wonderful asset to any future wife.
I'm not sure if anyone has said this or not, but if you put like a cupcake/muffin paper liner at the top of your jar then the lid, they will seal. Love watching you guys! Dan is hilarious! 😂
Try putting a muffin liner over the top of your jars with the flour before putting the flats on. What happens is the vacuum gets clogged with the dust from the flour.
Great work you two! Just an observation, when adding the salt to your pancake mix I think you added two tsp in the one jar you started with. Also, I think when tapping down the flour in the jars I suggest tapping half way through…might be easier.
Some tips I've found with vacuum sealing: 1. Put a coffee filter inside the top of the jars with fine powders. I find my sealer lasts longer and the seal tends to NOT fail because small particles don't interfere with both. 2. I mostly use a brake bleeder pump to do my mason jar vacuum sealing because it's a manual process and I don't break the sealer with fine particles. 3. Leave your bands on the jars in case the seal breaks. There's nothing worse than picking up a jar with a false seal and spilling the contents everywhere 4. Sometimes I use both dessicated pouches and vacuum sealing if I really need something to stay dry and I'm worried it may come unsealed Also, your goods will stay fresh for a very long time because you've sucked the oxygen out of the jars!
What a beautiful day of work! Your future self would appreciate your past self. Love watching you and Dan act like teenagers together. When you vacuum seal powder type foods, put a cupcake liner, or a piece of parchment paper on top, under the lid. It is to prevent dust from going in the vacuum sealer that will eventually destroy the machine.
I keep the disc coffee filters (meant for percalaters I think) to put at the top of jars with powdered ingredients. It helps to keep the powders from being sucked out and interfering with the seal.
FYI-Around 17:50 in the video you added 1 tsp to salt to first jar..and finished with adding another tsp to that same jar at the end! Love watching your videos!! Xoxo
Your freeze dryer can seal many jars at thr same time in just a couple minutes. You have to remove the tray rack, but it saves a ton of time over the single jar sealer if you are doing multiple jars. It also allows you to reuse non-mason jars (we save every glass jar and lid now) and seal dry goods in them. 😊
The vacuum sealer pulls powder up onto the rim and inhibits the seal. You can get around this by adding coffee filter or muffin liner at the top with sides tucked in, and it will keep powder from getting sucked up. Wonderful idea! I’m printing all these recipes for my own children’s Christmas this year!!
When vacuum sealing flour and such don’t pack it down too much and put paper towel or coffee filter cut to size to keep flour from leaking on to the rim and preventing a seal. Great ideas.
Absolutely love the way you and Dan are together. Easy to tell you really like each other and that's important to stay together. Don't let it be the last time Dan is in the kitchen with you. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say we enjoyed this video very much! :=) Those pre-made recipe jars are a terrific idea and like you said, will save much time and make terrific gifts! Thanks Chelsea and Dan. ❤
Love that Dan timed it and has thoughts about how to improve the process! You both enjoyed it and so did I. So much fun was had by the two of you. Your kids are lucky that you are experimenting!
Purely by coincidence , I found one of my vacuum sealers attachments, in its original box. Found instructions in it, and even though I have used them for years, I learned something new today! It states you should leave at least one inch space to get a proper seal! Guess reading directions might have come in handy- after using them for over thirty years!
Foodsaver does recommend leaving 1 in of headspace and to use canning rings when using that product. They aren't true seals, as you know, so in this case you do need the rings to help maintain the vacuum.
Your smile when you look at him, makes my heart full. (Sorry to be corny but it's been a rough few weeks and the worlds events too, it was nice to see).
Just an FYI…When I put up “dry” goods with my vacuum sealer I always put a coffee filter in the top of the jar before putting the lid on to seal because I “burned up” a couple sealers and while doing research and watching other TH-cam channels, I saw where the “fine” powders will “clog” up the machine, causing it to just quit! I also put “dry” goods in paper lunch sacks, fold top over and then put down in the sealer bag, for the same reason!
16:06 quick tip, when you are vacuum sealing powders that can get underneath the lid it can prevent a seal which is why you might have been having problems with the muffin mix. But if you put a small cotton cloth over the dry goods before you vacuum seal it can make sure the powders don't get sucked up through the vacuuming process. Hope this helps 😊 love your channel. You and Dan have a beautiful relationship
Whn vacuum sealing dry goods, if you put a jumbo size cupcake liner on top of the dry goods, it keeps the vacuum sealer from sucking it up and preventing a seal.
I love the chemistry you and your husband have it’s so precious. If only more men would like that. A lot of great inspiration for those prepared breakfast items gonna have to try a couple of them for ourselves. I have up to five grandkids sometimes I have to feed in the morning, especially when school is out, we have them all. Thank you for your inspiration.
Still watching, but popping on to say (since you mentioned her site), Sally's Baking Addiction has the best "sandwich bread" recipe I've ever found. FYI in case anyone is looking for one.
Good morning. I absolutely love your channel, especially when Dan is on. You have such a great relationship and the context you have on is very valuable to anyone. I live in Alberta and did gardening until 2023. I live in the city and all your content for gardening I could use on my little garden. Please keep it up.
thanks for the recipes, I shall try them too. I vacuum seal my freeze dried fruit etc in mason jars and it is helpful to remove the little hose part first before removing the large vacuum cup part. I also put a ring on the jars to ensure a good seal. Good to see Dan in the kitchen filling jars along side of you. I love it when I have the help also. On a side note I am finally finished canning and putting away the pressure cooker today! 😊
Hello, there recipes look so fantastic! I was looking for a breakfast cookie recipe. These are going to look beautiful on your pantry shelves! I remember as a small child on the farm, my favourite place of all time, how hard everyone worked. But when it was time for everyone to sit around the table for a meal, all 14 of us, there was so much conversation and laughter! Thank you for bringing me a wonderful memory. I do not have the space to do all the things that you do, but i can make these and put them in the freezer. Just started stocking that up. I bought my first vacuum sealer and i love it! Happy baking!
I saved all these recipes! They look so good. I have a vacuum sealer as well so I guess my Christmas stuff will be all homemade this year. Thank you so much!
if you used self rising flour in your muffin mix you would save more room in your jars since the self rising flour already has baking powder and salt added. I keep my muffin mix in big containers so when i need some its already done and easy to just put in a jar to give as a gift. I also make homemade cake mixes and other things like that.
What a great video!! I enjoy seeing you and Dan in the kitchen together. These will be great gifts for my granddaughters at college in their first apartments. Thanks for the recipes.
I love this video of the two of you! You are radiating love and a health marriage. Thank you for showing your love for each other. I love the idea of the mixes but I enjoyed watching you two have fun and giggling most.
Omg I just found your channel Dan you are so adorable I truly have too say you are blessed I’m watching from Irvine California so far I’m enjoying watching you both thank you
I cannot even describe how adorable you two are together. I love all of your videos, but you and Dan…I absolutely love watching you both. It makes me smile. Thank you for letting us all into your lives. You are so lucky to have one another!!! ❤
Awwwww how Sweet.. matching measuring cups and spatulas. You never know when the husband spontaneously thinks of those little things that just make you and us smile….
Love this idea, and loved watching you guys working together. Just a tip I have noticed over the years using my jar sealer is that putting the more powdery ingredients on the bottom instead of the top helps to get a better seal. Looking forward to making some meals in jars, and catching more of your videos, you've got a new subscriber here.
When using dry ingredients and not much head space left, try using a clean coffee filter upside down on top of your lids. It assists with minimizing product being sucked up during the sealing process. Love the jar meals!!!
Wow, amazing video. Watching the two of you working together with laughter and love was priceless! I'm envious of all those dry good meals and treats. I'm going to look up some GF almond flour recipes....
as far as sealing the jars with not much headspace, when you are sealing them with powder, you need to put a cupcake paper liner or parchment paper or coffee filter that covers the top of the powder and goes up the sides just a little bit and it will seal the jars. just place it in there and push it down a little bit. I have no problem vacuum sealing any of my jars that have powder in them with about half an inch headspace. You pull the hose out of the top of the white sealer first and then take the white portion off. As a rule, the little blue seal ring always comes off when you are sealing regular mouth jars. OMG amazing.I love you so much❤❤❤❤❤
And always ad bands to all vaccum sealed jars just in case
Absolutely right. I bought the rechargeable sealer that sits right down on the jar and it sometimes does the same thing.
We did figure that out after a bit. lol
The way that Dan still makes you giggle like you're teenagers after you've been together so long is so wholesome to see. It's really lovely that you guys have so much fun together.
Love seeing your husband in the kitchen - making you laugh. I also enjoy when you're out in the field with him.
Love watching you and Dan working together. Your grown children will love the gifts that each of you have prepared. Thank you for sharing
How much fun I’ve had watching you working together. Who knew Dan was so funny?
We love when Dan works the kitchen with you. So fun!!
You and Dan are just adorable to watch! You get along so well, and compliment each other....oh, and the projects are great too!
I love watching you guys together. Dan really needs to join you in the kitchen more.
I agree! He reads the comments so definitely keep mentioning it!😁
@@toniyates7800 100% agree! The chemistry between them two is amazing to watch! 🥰❤️🥰
I 100% agree!
I love all these channels Chelsea it inspires me so much I am a young single man 21 years I love canning my mom will not buy spaghetti sauce. sethbeske268 That’s amazing, Seth! You are so far ahead of most of your generation! I’m sure you’re mom is so proud of you.
I hope my daughter meets a young man with skills!
That's so wonderful, my guys learned to can growing up as well, their great grandfather was a great cook and canner. I think it is a wonderful asset to any future wife.
This was my favorite show to date. My favorite line from Dan was "You are God's gift to me"
Where is your cookbook for ordering?

U and Dan are so good together. He so adores u and u can tell he loves u so much
Who knew Dan was so into visual aesthetics! Oh, forgot his perfection in the pantry! Can’t wait for the tour!
Try putting a muffin liner over the top of your jars with the flour before putting the flats on. What happens is the vacuum gets clogged with the dust from the flour.

These are my suggestions as well! Don't want to ruin the new machine getting powders in it. The brake bleeder is easy and fast and no worries. 😀

as far as sealing the jars with not much headspace, when you are sealing them with powder, you need to put a cupcake paper liner or parchment paper or coffee filter that covers the top of the powder and goes up the sides just a little bit and it will seal the jars. just place it in there and push it down a little bit. I have no problem vacuum sealing any of my jars that have powder in them with about half an inch headspace. You pull the hose out of the top of the white sealer first and then take the white portion off. As a rule, the little blue seal ring always comes off when you are sealing regular mouth jars. The widemouth jars are fine so do not get alarmed with that. this is how I do all of my meals in a jar with dehydrated, ingredients and powdered anything for storage or herbs. And yes, I do put rings on them, even though they are sealed and tighten them.
What a wonderful idea! Thanks!
