      Me too with the heat. Also various foods like wheat, dairy, nightshades. High histamine foods also. I have SLE lupus and it attacks my skin and gut, so I’m a mess if I don’t manage it. Taking quercetin and turmeric also. No itching anymore 🙏 right away. UPDATE: I reduced my intake of Niacin down to the RDA amount because it was causing skin flushing. Doc says I have small fiber neuralgia and put me on 1 mg prednisone and 1 tablet of dye free Benadryl daily. I stopped the quercetin and turmeric for the time being.

    As an adult who relapsed with eczema/Atopic Dermatitis (which I had as a child but without it for decades, relapsed) and got better quickly recently-basically eczema is an energy overflow issue with vitamin b complex deficiency. It’s not allergy but AD people are not good at generating protein on skin. In my experience it got pretty much cured with lower fat (but take 20-30 mg omega 3, 6, vitamin A, zinc, iodine, vitamin b6, 1, 12 , 2, zero need for veganism), moderate protein, carbs are fine but if you eat too much sugar too fast your metabolism speeds up too much and your cell runs out of vitamin b and fat, protein, causing those itchy dry patches. Kids get AD often because their bodies are small and eating too much cause metabolic issue. Adults now get eczema because we eat a lot these days. They know all this vitamin b deficiency with high metabolism caused AD in mouse studies. This explains why both healthy low fat vegan (= lower energy intake as food tastes pretty crappy with fiber) and carnivore (=slower metabolism due to low carb) work for eczema as well as fasting. Smaller meals timed also help because our cells can’t take too much metabolizing in a short time.

    Hi Leila, just wanted to say Thank You so much for all your information in the videos. I started TSW nearly 6 weeks ago and initially my skin was inflamed, itchy, swollen, etc. Then I came across your videos and started the diet as recommended by yourself. Within 6-10 days my symptoms have reduced to almost nothing. My flaring has stopped, I'm hardly itchy at all, I sleep at night now, the swelling has gone down and I feel better than I have done in years! I am being super strict on the diet and am so enjoying the benefits of it. So just wanted to say that all the time and effort you put into your videos, are such a blessing for all those that need to learn how to heal from the inside out. THANK YOU Leila, I'm so grateful. Just quick update, coming up to 4 months TSW, still sticking strictly to the diet and skin is just getting better & better. Still no inflammation and hardly itchy at all - just wonderful! I'm going over to Thailand in a couple of weeks where I will get the Cold Atmospheric Treatment (CAP) for 3 months to help thicken the skin. I will be sharing your videos with all the other CAP patients I meet there! My skin is heaps better now than when I was using steroids. Your diet definitely works. Thank you so much.

      @@karenmerriman8656 Hi Karen! So happy to hear of your success with the diet and your healing! Could you list what your typical daily diet looks like, ie what you have for each meal? I'm having a bad flare now and am unsure what to go with...

      @@llabyrinthinessoul Hi there, yes of course happy to do that. For breakfast every day I have organic rolled oats cooked with rice milk and pear (not nashi). I often peel the pear and cook in some brown rice syrup. For lunch, I normally have a lettuce salad which has carrot and cucumber in with a couple of lentil patties. The lentil patty recipe is from the 'The Eczema Detox" book, but I use Kumara instead of Potato. I have totally eliminated Potato from my diet and just stick to Kumara. For snacks I will have a pear muffin or a slice of banana bread (both from Eczema Detox book). However I use either rice flour or chickpea flour, not spelt flour. For dinner, I often cook a gluten-free Naan or mashed kumara flatbread (recipes from Google) and put salad and maybe some chicken in it. I have also eliminated caffeine and drink plenty of rooibos and chamomile teas. I don't eat eggs, but recipes that use an egg, I substitute with 1 Tablespoon of Linseed in 2 Tablespoons of water. I don't eat red meat, only chicken and lentils/beans. Also no sugar. Hope that helps. Karen

      @@karenmerriman8656 Hey I just wanted to come on here and ask how did the cold treatments do? I'm trying to get all the knowledge I can about the whole TSW process because I've been on steroids for 10 years and need to get off of them ASAP. I'm going to, hopefully soon start taking out histamine foods and use proper items for bathing, moisturizing, etc. I've wanted to do this because I read where I can start doing these changes so when I do start the TSW it won't be as bad. Also I've been seeking cold therapy solutions because the longest I've done the TSW before was 1 month before I had to give up. My legs were swelling to the point I couldn't walk and my itching was so bad my sheets were sadly covered in blood. Also I've developed something weird I haven't seen anyone else develop from steroids. I've developed huge red stretch marks all over my body as a direct result of itching. Or as my old dermatologist (who never listened to me) said, they're stretch marks. And these marks are HUGE. They stubbornly go from my legs, up to my shoulders. I've noticed they get thicker and change color when I stop scratching so much and also use cold products. I also live in a more warm, humid part of the US so that adds to the itching too. Sorry for the long paragraph lol, but I really wanted to know if the treatment worked for you and if so, what exactly it did because before I think about doing that, I'm going to go do acupuncture, then wanted to do the cold therapy. Thanks for reading this if you do by the way. ❤

    First of all, thank you for the videos. I’m a certified Integrative Nutrition and Gut Health Coach…Research has it that Rice is loaded with arsenic, brown is worse that white. I have to disagree about the berries, they are high Vitamin C, high fiber, great pre-biotic…and low in sugar. Citrus is a high histamine food, but Adding lemon to Green Tea is a Powerful Synergistic medicine…great for eczema sufferers. Organic Eggs and Grassfed dairy-Cheeze are another huge medicinal food, great for eczema sufferers. Agree with all the other, fruits because of the sugar.
    Organic coconut water and organic electrolyte powders have been game changers for me personally. Worth trying to see if they’ll make a difference for you

    • @Leila_Eczema
      @Leila_Eczema  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thank you for your comment. In order to reduce the itch I reduced high histamine foods. I followed my homeopath and holistic practitioners treatment plan which included these foods that I avoid. Histamine is a major factor for TSW healing. Strawberries, raspberries, citrus I reacted to because of the histamine. Caffeine also created a reaction in the green tea. I drink Roobios instead - great anti-inflammatory! Eggs and any cheese is a no no as too reactive for TSW. I reacted with coconut water during my TSW too but now healed am much better.

      The arsenic contamination generally applies to rice grown in the U.S. particularly in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. The rice fields there were in many cases used for growing cotton in the past. The pesticide used to control the boll weevil (an insect that infects the cotton plant) was arsenic based and was sprayed on the cotton crop and consequently it leached into the ground where it remains today now being absorbed by the rice grown there. Rice from California and overseas such as Thailand is a safer alternative.

    My family always used dairy and none of us had skin issues 7:39 grandparents and everybody made whipped cream to go on strawberry shortcake made cream pies, coconut cream, chocolate cream, we eat, tapioca pudding we had milk with our cereal. We never had problems with skin about 10 years ago and I’m 67 now I have a problem on my scalp and then one ear craziest thing I ever saw, anyway I’m going to try the celery juice in the black currant seed oil and the lemon and ginger tea. Apparently that is something that can help a significant number of us. If we have celery juice every morning for like 90 days we can see a tremendous blessing of difference, and then Dr. Burke said take black currant seed oil, you know in a little gel caps and also apply it to your skin so I’m a try those things as well as what you’re saying here but they must’ve ruined our dairy supply because for thousands of years cows goats all kinds of animals were the complete food supply and people didn’t die. People didn’t have thousand allergies and there wasn’t even a bunch of doctors to run to and are vegetables weren’t dangerous and so I just really think that this is a lot of a problem that’s happened because of modern food supply. Thank you for your videos I’m sure they are very full of wisdom.

      I don't know anything about black currant seed oil. I mainly didn't put anything on my skin as it was sooooo sensitive and healed from the inside out. Increase your fatty acids is key as well so add flaxseeds and chia seed where you can! Good luck!

      They are feeding the milking cows MGO corn & soy beans instead of their eating natural pasture the way they used to. Cows were not designed to live on corn & soy but natural pasture. So, yes, it is what they are doing to our food supply. And by "they", I mean the big corporations that have taken over many of our little independent farms that gave us healthy foodstuffs.

    I thought I was going to die the way my skin condition was going and I cut out the majority of those foods you have mentioned .. one game changer for myself personally has been making lentil flat bread (water and lentils ) collecting young nettle shoots and drying them and sprinkling them on my food and making my own foraged teas .. I eat lots of salads and veg flavoured with my favourite herbs, this not only has cured my skin condition but has also created a new interest that gets me out on long walks in the fresh air foraging 😀
    Just to note.. Dandruff 🙄 all the hair potions and shampoos made my scalp feel like it was on fire and it was nettle infused in water that calmed and cured it.
    A great video … I am always on the look out for more information so I can stay on top of my skin health … thank you … and if you are suffering at the moment … giving up these foods if necessary is far more tolerable than the putting up with a diabolical skin condition ..
    (I am not a heath practitioner)

    Rooibos comes from a little area North of Cape Town, South Africa (come here for a holiday, its so beautiful here) It is my go to drink as it is so healing and after a while you will be ok with drinking it milk and sugar free. It also tastes great cold so in summer make some up and keep it in the fridge and serve it up with some ice.

    Hi Leila, I am absolutely loving your videos and getting so much out of them - thank you ever so much. I am just over a month into TSW (my second time around), and symptoms are revolting but hoping they will improve as I start to follow your guidelines regarding food. I just have a question about potatoes. I often eat brown rice crackers, which I love, but noticed they have potato starch in them (not sure how much). Do you think I should quit eating these, as the nightshade foods are no good? Thanks in advance for your reply. Karen

    • @Leila_Eczema
      @Leila_Eczema  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Karen, Thank you so much for your feedback! Am so happy my videos are of value to you. So I would say yes quit those rice crackers but switch to a brand that doesn’t have the potato starch. There are so many on the market so should be feasible to find some that don’t have this ingredient. It’s a strict diet for now with food as am sure if you are at the beginning of your TSW journey symptoms can be severe. Then once your initial inflammation has died down (usually about 6-8 weeks) you can add cheat days etc…

    • @karenmerriman8656
      @karenmerriman8656 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, so sorry to hear that the diet has not made any difference to your skin. I am currently in Thailand receiving CAP (Cold Atmospheric Treatment) for my skin which is helping to thicken and strengthen the skin after years of steroids. I have learnt a lot about irritants which can make a big difference to inflammation and itchiness of the skin as well. Some people are not healing at all because of irritant exposure. If you live with irritants in your house or you are exposed to them at the place you work on a daily basis, your skin cannot heal. Your skin stays in the phase of inflammation and doesn't go to the phase of proliferation. Some of the changes I have had to make are:
      1. Washing clothes only in hot water - no washing detergents
      2. Using Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy Dermo-Cleanser for Dry, Sensitive Skin only for washing skin, no soap, etc.
      3. Using Ecostore ultra sensitive Shampoo only for washing hair
      4. After going out to shopping mall, or anywhere, I have a shower and wash off all irritants
      5. Avoiding dogs and cats that can cause irritation to skin - only allergy-free dogs and cats are non-irritant.
      6. No perfumes
      7. Cleaning house only with hot water, I don't use any cleaning products
      8. Only cotton/linen clothing, bed linen, etc
      For more info on irritants, there are some good videos on the following instagram page:
      tsw.topical.steroid.withdrawal
      Hope this helps, any questions feel free to ask. Karen

      The Roobios is good for kids too. No actual "tea" such as other typical teas so its caffeine free! I gave it to my daughter with some date syrup (very small amount) to begin with but now she loves the apple and cinnamon one which is sugar free. Otherwise try a warm rice milk with some turmeric (golden milk) this is also yummy, as well as hot carob powder which is a cocoa chocolate replacement. No citrus until the inflammation goes down especially for TSW and eczema sufferers. It causes drying of the skin. I avoided it for a long time. Remember health coaches who aren’t specific to TSW won’t know.

    I don't think stopping these foods will help unless you're allergic to the food. I tried this for a few weeks & I had no luck whatsoever & then I went to a food allergist & he tested me for all kinds of foods & I found out I was allergic to just about everything ncluding beef, pork, pumpkin, rice, oats & sunflower oil which I can eat now but that was when I was going through topical steroid withdrawal which made me sensitive to everything even bathing in water!!!! Heck even olive oil made me itch that I may as well starved. I was fine with gluten though but stayed away from it anyway. Also if you have a latex allergy like I do you may not be able to eat foods that contains latex like bananas, apples, strawberries, peaches, mangoes, potatoes, etc. Some of those I couldn't eat either. Now being over 5 yrs into TSW & healing, I can eat some of those foods that I once was allergic to with no itching or any kind of reaction at all including dairy. Yes dairy!!!!! & ice cream & pizza never tasted soooo good!!!!!!!! I can finally eat those foods just like before I started TSW...So it's always a good idea to get tested so you know for sure what you're allergic to & stay away from those foods that you are until your skin gets better or heals & then after a few yrs or so test a little bit of it at first & if you still have any reaction to it then wait it out. Maybe then you can eat that food & then maybe not. Everyone's different. Also where is that tea recipe at the end of this video that you said you'd show us how to make? I'm still waiting for it. Lol 😆

      Thanks for your feedback. Cutting back on the high histamine releasing foods has changed my skin completely! I know from my experience and many many others that this diet really worked. There's a difference between intolerance and allergies. Cutting back on the foods you are intolerant to was the fast track to stopping my itching and fast forwarding my healing. I struggled with eczema all my life and after my TSW experience when my skin was at its worst I am so thankful to really understand how food have been my triggers. I am finally eczema free and much more relaxed with my diet but still caution with gluten and dairy too.

    Rooibos tea really made it worse because there is a compound in it that can cause more inflammation, at least for me. Jasmin tea with some ginger or oolong tea is the only tea thats gentle for my skin. I will try the gluten and paprika,berries and tomatoes because i live in italy its almost unavoidable 😅 so this goin to be hard

      Chickpeas, basil, parsley (no pine nut) pesto sauces homemade. We are in France and share the same Mediterranean diet. It’s all about creating habits and rituals. If I can do it you can too! If you are ok with Jasmine and ginger great. Ginger can cause more fire effect to the skin.

    Inasmuch as millions of persons eat the foods that you claim to cause eczema, could it be that eczema sufferers are allergic to these foods or are extremely sensitive to agri-chemicals and/ or residues which are present in nearly all foods, today. So, do organic foods, high sugar/ carbohydrate foods, even cooked foods as compared to raw foods cause the same problems?

    • @Leila_Eczema
      @Leila_Eczema  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s all about the histamine content that stimulates an itch effect. I didn’t discuss allergies as that is based on the individual. High histamine from foods transfer a high histamine in the body which leads to excessive itching. This videos highlights the high histamine foods and others which attribute to inflammation.
