    I shared the same story with you. Almost exactly! I changed diets several times, reacted to all natural topicals, all foods, etc. microbiome and allergy testing nothing worked or gave me answers. my eczema has been freaking out since january. i’m not sure if it’s tsw or just severe eczema but it’s been the most awful three months of my life. i’ve done elimination diets on and off but i think i need to commit to it to properly and find my “root cause”. i’m also vegan so super scared about what im going to find out and the possibility of having to compromise my ethics but I have to put my health first🥲🥲 this condition is so debilitating and I have exams in a month so i’ve really got to feel my best (or at least better). i’m scared the elimination diet is going to make a feel weak and affect my concentration/learning etc. this close to my exams but I’m just gonna take it day by day. thanks for the video! super insightful x

      i hope your eczema has been doing better :( and that you are eating healthy and enough for your daily protein intake. you can still explore different topical treatments that are not steroid creams. other than eating clean, finding an effective cream moisturiser is super important too, in terms of healing and preventing your eczema. i have been using Invity youth activating cream concentrate and i recently found out they're vegan and cruelty-free too!

    I have eczema and have had it since elementary school. Im allergic to citrus fruits, sodas,tea, and coffee. I’ve given up processed foods. Heal the gut and change the diet, eczema will be non existent. I use L-Glutamine powder, drink warm water with freshly squeezed ginger in the morning, eat mostly salads with cucumbers and celery, and increased water intake. Eczema was mostly around my eyes, mouth, and forehead. My face burned when I used a gentle scrub. My skin looks the best it’s looked in years. Journey hasn’t been easy but worth it.

    Changing my diet was the essential missing piece for my eczema, psoriasis, and acne, especially reducing refined and processed sugar. There were other dietary and non-dietary factors that helped me, but that was the biggest factor. And, yes, to irritating ingredients in supposedly "sensitive" and even "hypoallergenic" products!!! 20:06 I don't think it is healthy for anyone to be vegan or solely vegetarian, or solely a carnivore for that matter. We all need a balanced diet specific to ourselves. Thank you for confirming my theory as my doctor threatened to put needles in my fingers after I buy a $300 cream that he is already assuming won't work; he also vehemently disagrees with me that my eczema is being caused by the food I eat. Screw him, my own personal theory of it being food related has been confirmed by you (and Barbara O'neill). I'm in the process of doing an elimination diet myself.

I was even medically discharged from the military due to eczema. I have been able to mentally overcome the struggles of day to day life and it has become normal to me. Sometimes I have to dig deep and go on with my day…
    Thanks to your video, I can try to heal myself without the doctor telling me it will never go away and I will have it for the rest of my life.
    I hear it all the time “I know what you are going through”…

    I don't have eczema but I really relate to the feelings about having to compromise morals for health. I'm in eating disorder recovery and even though I was vegan for ethical reasons and not disordered reasons I wasn't able to recover and stay vegan. I also did so much damage to my digestive system that I developed gluten intolerance on top of having 15 allergies, so being vegan was making my options so limited that it kept triggering relapses. I'm so sad about it and still trying to find ways to make my diet more aligned with my values but at the end of the day I can't be of any goos to anyone if I'm super sick.

    I'm so glad you were able to heal your eczema! Skin issues can be so all encompassing. And oof elimination diets are *hard*. I've been on AIP for 1,5 years already with very few successful re-intros. But it healed my skin for 95%! I had lots of acne in my face and my upper back, and was getting more and more hidradenitis boils. It was awful, so painful and invasive. Not eating a lot of things is hard, but being in so much pain is harder. Also having struggled with an ED all my life, it was hard. I had a dietician and psychologist on my side the whole first year, and I don't think I could have done it without them. Thank you for sharing what worked for you❤

    I have fatty liver, and it makes sense that my eczema triggers whenever my fatty liver worsens. I am also very allergic to chicken, shrimp, too much heat, rough fabric and detergent. It also worsened because I've been working nights for almost a decade and stress is definitely included with the job. Time came and my Eczema spread from head to toe so my doctor advised me not to work for 2 weeks (became 3 weeks for some reason). That time really allowed me to heal, my skin was almost restored completely because I was able to rest, and watch my diet. Sadly, it's coming back after 6 years because I am still working at night. Anyway, fight goes on and I'll find a way to quit my job and look for a day shift job.

    Doctors should be held accountable when they tell patients "Nothing you do will cure this. You must take this medicine " (with a high price tag and terrible potential side effects). I've never had one doctor to discuss with me about food being healing for the body nor have I heard of anyone that has either. Doctors only get a few hours of nutritional education in medical school and it seems that the overwhelming majority do not think outside the box. If they do, they are afraid to speak up. Medical treatment and treatment in general should always be tailored to the patient and never a blanket one-size-fits-all approach. Doctors see patients about every 15 minutes on average, adhere to the government requirements on any treatments and make money along with the pharmaceutical companies every time they push a pill. The gut microbiome holds the key to so much and it's never discussed by doctors. The medical community is shameful at best. Bravo to Grace for not listening to the magic pill story and figuring out what works for her body. Good for you!

I feel like an untouchable monster and hearing doctors tell you you're fucked is just devastating. It really feels like they couldn't give a shit about your quality of life. Just, "Oh, you're crying. Here, have some tissue. Get out of my office."
    I asked them about diet and they said it wouldn't help, but it's the only option I have now. I can't live life like this. This video gives me some hope though and its nice to hear from someone who has gone through a similar thing. This and Joanna Cedias old videos about her skin made me feel less alone.

Overall, I’ve had psoriasis since my early 30s. I’ve dealt with it but now it’s gotten too far! My face and neck are constantly itchy, red inflamed , flaky and painful! I got food allergy tested and it was all negative. Allergist said I’m not allergic to any of the food that I tested for. In addition, I started an elimination diet, no sugar, or dairy, gluten free. Still haven’t seen a difference. I’m on day 14 with this elimination diet , hoping it’s just a mater of time. I’m also taking a probiotic in the morning, drinking lots of water with apple cider vinegar. Not sure what else to do. Patch test will be in August.

I was vegetarian, vegan, or "healthy" food eater my whole life and eczema and autoimmune issues just got worse. I 100% do not want to be on any pharmaceuticals. After eliminating beans, seeds, nuts, and all grains my eczema cleared up in 1 week!! Thanks for leading me to the rabbit hole. Hurray for gut health!! Congratulations on finding your solution ❤❤

      I was vegan for 7 years. It is already a highly restricted diet so if you take gluten and soy out you are not left with many foods that will give you your nutritional requirements, you'll be supplements galore.. and that is not healthy to live off unnatural pills when you can just eat fresh fish, pasture raised eggs and grassfed or free-range, or game meats I still get my fruit and veggies from farmers markets and grow some of my own things.
      Vegan is not for everyone. For most people, it's better to just have a balanced diet, reduce meat consumption, have some vegetarian meals throughout the week.. Cut out dairy, soy, gluten, processed foods, and processed meat. No deli meats just get real food. Everyone eats too much meat, and it's all unnatural industrialised crap and most vegans eat fake lab grown meats that are even worse for you. So many people as misinformed nowadays. Just go back the natural way of eating like how our grandparents eat and problem solved.

      I use ones without alkyl glucosides personally. the less ingredients the better! I use nolé shampoo bars now, but as I was healing I used gladskin ones. and I use aveeno facewash and natural bar soap :) jojoba oil for moisturizing and that's it!

    Now this is exactly how health information from personal experience should be talked about, as an individual experience. I'm considering trying a ketogenic diet. A medical doctor I listened to described how he helped people with a condition similar to mine with the diet. The class of medication I'm on is also used for seizures and some people with seizures stop having them when on a ketogenic diet. He's had great success with the diet. It hurts nothing to clean up my diet, I pretty much have nothing to lose. Will it suck getting offy current diet, probably, but it will be worth it if it helps.

      I will say I have been doing keto since November with cheating during Thanksgiving and Christmas/new years, but it hasn't cleared it yet. I'm negative for any food allergens, so I'm not sure if my issue would be food

    How did you know it was not TSW? Did you ever use Topical Steroids?

      I only used them very briefly and sporadically because I was afraid of TSW

      @@gracenevitt Ok. I think I am going through it but it is not as extreme as what I see online. Mostly on my hands and arms and neck area...I do have cracking skin and elephant skin. I also only used them sporadically but for a period of 3 years (2020-2023) I used a higher potency one every time I flared and my flares kept getting worse...sooooo I am guessing that's it. Though I am also paying attention to diet and everything else. Thank you for this video and insight!

    I appreciate your video, helpful information but I'm vegan and I'm worried about not being able to eat soy as well but I could never see myself eating meat again. There's so many other sources of protein that I won't give up on being vegan. I'm glad you got better though.

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it was a tough pill to swallow for me, but it was really my only feasible option with my boyfriend (who I live with) being very allergic to nuts and knowing my body couldn't handle just legumes/beans as protein. I felt very weak when I tried to do only vegan protein and no soy and realized it wasn't a longterm option for me, sadly.
      I think that unfortunately the reason I suffered for so long was because I was unable to give up veganism :(

    • @Zoe999
      @Zoe999 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gracenevitt I understand, it's just unfortunate because I know that there's so many other plant based sources of protein besides legumes and beans. Even mushrooms have protein , everything has protein. As long as you're eating, you're getting protein. It's just knowing which things have which amounts of protein in it that helps you know exactly how much you're getting. I'm the exact opposite, animal products make me sick and the thought of eating them makes me sick. Plants have always been my go to for medicine. I think what's important is that what you stated in the video Is that you weren't on the healthiest of plant based diets (as was I until now) and you weren't feeling the best, but a whole food plant-based diet takes some time to master recipes, making your own sauces, your own flavorings, to make your food taste really good besides just eating a plain salad with nothing on it. I totally get that, I would feel burnt out too eat plain food all the time. Maybe 1 day you'll come around to trying a whole food plant-based diet instead of a standard American vegan diet style where you can eat anything but if not, I understand. Again I'm glad you're healthy and happy and wish you the best in life. 🙏🏼💯🫶🏽 Thanks for sharing your story.

      @Zoe999 I think I was just so burnt out at the time that I knew I would not be healthy or well if I kept doing the vegan diet I was doing. in general, I mostly stick to a plant-based whole foods diet, but essentially consider myself a "flexitarian", as I mainly eat vegetarian now but sometimes have fish or chicken occasionally

    I have had eczema since I was born. For me it got the worst when I was in middle and high school. I got on dupixent about 5 years ago but it isn’t working that well anymore and it’s not something I want to be on forever. I have been vegan for 10 years and I am coming to terms with the fact that it is probably not helping my eczema. When you ate meat after so many years of not eating it did you have a reaction or was it hard for your body to digest?

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it was okay! I just started introducing things slowly. to this day I still only eat fish and chicken and likely won't ever venture any further in terms of meat consumption.

    I have had eczema for 25 years. What cured me was kefir, zinc Pyrithione shampoo, fasting and removing chlorine fluorine in bath water
