I think the OTA functionality, when they add this kind of functions that really works and enhances life with the car, is a very nice way of taking care of existing customers. Well done Polestar!

The gauge cluster range, as you mentioned, is a fixed calculation. It's the battery SoC percentage, multiplied by 249, then rounded to the nearest ten.
So, yours shows 46%, which then, 249 x .46 = 114.54, which then rounds down to 110. The 249 is the EPA rated range for the 2022 models, and what was released in P1.7 to the 2021 models. Polestar, rightly, believes the EPA rating to be more accurate than other certified range calcs., so they're using that EPA range in all markets.

Delighted that you are back with updates. In my opinion, you are someone who I just can't miss about the Polestar.

    Hi
Always good to hear your reviews.
I wrote to Polestar about lack of schedule charging, they replied and said this would be an OTA update in the future. My car due in March so fingers crossed.

I have noticed that when I set a Fast DC charger as my destination within Google Maps, my energy consumption (as measured by the car in kWh/100km) goes up significantly on the journey to the charging station (e.g., from a normal rate of 22 kWh/100km to about 31 kWh/100km). So at least it is possible to confirm that the setting is doing something. I only got my Polestar a couple of weeks ago, and it came loaded with P1.7. So I don't have any way to compare to previous performance. I look forward to seeing another of your videos in which you are able to say whether you are seeing any differences. I know that Kris Rifa said that the changes were remarkable in his review.

Kris Rifa says the pre-heating the battery in cold weather before charging feature works better on the P2 than on his M3. He got 144 kw charging with the temp at 3C (36F), which he said was better than his M3.

New owner and came with 1.7 installed. Had it plugged in with 2 different public providers of 50kW Combo chargers. I was getting 50kW from both between 30-80 state of charge. Very pleased and the battery heating seems to make a big difference with the software improvements. I have had issues with getting my Polestar account setup in car so I can't monitor or do anything remotely on the car 😔

Yes setting up the app to work correctly isn't as easy as it should be!

Great to see you back. I'm now 6000 miles in but I have sinned by not having my OTA on and now worried that it mah crash if I try and download. Your excellent video will make me go to Volvo and get them to do the updates.

Have you considered after market reasonably sized aero-wheels, for your P2? In theory, they could bring a gain of up to 10% of range. I don't understand why Polestar won't offer such wheels (except the absurd marketing argument, that they are a "sporty" brand), when the major problem of the car is the lack of efficiency.

Vw should take note - urgently ! This is a proper update. Not the compete joke we’ve got with 2.3 on ID cars

This is why we canceled our ID order and went P2

On a Dutch forum I've read that Polestar stopped distributing version 1.7 this week due to software problems. It seems some owners are experiencing problems with this update. Let's hope Polestar fixes this quickly.

Bradley another really helpful video. I had a Tesla with the battery preconditioning thing if a Supercharger had been selected in the SatNav. I have no idea if it worked as I never noticed any difference. I'm hoping the Polestar one will be much better.

Interesting video and good to see Polestar are making some worthwhile software updates. Have you taken the car in for service yet after a year of ownership? I see orders now come with 3 years free servicing.

Find it weird that Polestar has the Google Android Automotive system but hasn't got a decent phone app. Would have thought Google would have designed a basic app that could be adapted for each model...

Our car is back in with Listers Volvo as we have many problems, most of which are probably software related. We’ve had the car 9 months are are mightily fed up and this is the 2nd time it’s been in. Hopefully, they will be able to resolve the problems and download the latest software at the same time. Fingers crossed 🤞

Tesla has pre-heat when navigating to destination chargers as well as super chargers. Nice to see Polestar make some effort to increase features for users or perhaps turn features on that should have been there from the start? Polestar/Volvo with roots a very cold winter country should really have had pre-heating from day 1.
Polestar/Volvo need to do much better in future and perhaps kick out more updates more often. The benchmark is definitely Tesla and so far not a single manufacturer even comes close in terms of OTA updates and adding features and tweaks.
I’m not knocking Geely, Polestar, Volvo they are doing much more and far better than the likes of Ford, GM, Mercedes, BMW……… with OTA’s but it is all a bit disjointed and clunky, a bit like the navigation to chargers but not fully integrated into the navigation app etc… Like another poster has mentioned it appears some users are having software issues with 1.7
Overall a good step in the right direction but hopefully this is just the start of things to come.
    👍🏻

Would be really interesting to find out the economy of the car now. Seeing as you done alot of your economy tests last winter it would a better comparison.

I have not noticed any difference in consumption and more annoyingly I still cannot sync iPhone info for calls, also cannot sync with the app, 2 visits to Volvo dealers in Watford and Slough and they are still scratching their heads!

  • @scollyutube
    @scollyutube 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Pretty sure the economy app is only using very recent driving in its calculations I.e minutes. Drove 50 miles on flat road and then 10 up a very steep one and it dropped the range disproportionately. Bit disappointing as my diesel Skoda can get it right so this should be even better with all the information.
Google maps worked out the consumption correctly prior so how hard is it!

Polestar reminds me of the traditional car makers, good in making cars, but sucks in designing UX. The only thing that I dislike about it is the dashboard. It's so lazy.
