Great to have you back online Bradley! Been watching for almost a year and still love the videos and candid owners commentary on all things Polestar2. From all your content I made the decision and went for it, had one delivered a few weeks back and I love it! Thanks!
Glad to see you back, I had missed your excellent videos! What annoys me about the app fiasco is that Volvo make a pretty darn good one for their cars. Why couldn’t Polestar just clone that ?
Thank you for an interesting comparison. The Kia app is indeed clearly much more useful. Let's hope that Polestar will follow suit (I got mine last Thursday :)
So glad to see you back on YT again :-) I fully agree with you on the Polestar app! The basic functions are there and works decently, but not more... And quite often it seems lagging and not very responsive. If it at least did show a clear indication that it was updating, but no... And I frequently have to kill and restart the app on my iPhone to make contact at all. Digital key, I have given up on it for now... If I can't trust it 100%, then it makes no sense. The problem to remove a phone linked with the car is ridiculous. You can only do it from a phone connected to an admin profile, and if that stops working for any reason, you have to wipe your profile and start over. Been there, done that :-( Why on earth can't the let me remove the phone from the profile in the car?! But the app certainly is useful, especially I like the climate control and charge status. When fast charging while having lunch or shopping, it is very useful to see when it is time to return to the car again! But I hope they will soon add more features, e.g. "find your car", trip meter, geo-fencing or seeing the alarm status. This is available in other car apps, EVs and ICE, and there are better apps also within the Volvo family since long.
I’ve had my PS2 since August and every journey feels a pleasure. It is booked in to Volvo to look at the alarm which tends to go off as the temperature drops at night. It would be good if you had more of the controls such as reduce alarm guard etc through the app as it has to be set after every journey. I don’t get false alarms when set to Reduced Guard but obviously I would prefer to get it sorted.
GREAT, you're back again!!! Interesting video. Many say that the Tesla app is the best, ..., it is good, ..., but it can always get better! ;-) I'm really happy that you are making videos again, you are just a sympathetic guy. Even if the video looks a bit gloomy.Oh yes, it was Halloween! :-)) Greetings from Switzerland.
Tesla only just added scheduled climate into their app and you can’t schedule it differently by day. I was very surprised they didn’t already have this feature.
Yes great to see another video :). I'm also keen to know your thoughts on your OnePlus 9 Pro, how do you rate it? I echo your thoughts on the app in terms of worthwhile functionality. I've not bothered with it as yet.
I am very happy to see you posting content again! Over the past 6 weeks I have been working through decisions about what EV to buy. A lot of factors come into play in deciding to get a Polestar 2. Your series of videos about your experiences with the Polestar played a very important role in helping me to make my decision. There are so many TH-cam videos out there about this car, but the vast majority are made by people who have next to no experience with the car (literally, sometimes only an hour to look at the car, film some video and move on to the next vehicle!), who do little more than read a series of specs comparing Polestar and Tesla Model 3, and then who declare a winner (Tesla goes from 0 - 100km/h in 4.1 seconds; Polestar in 4.4 seconds: Tesla is the WINNER!!!!). Your videos are some of the only ones by a person who owns the car, uses it all the time, and over a period of months posts videos about what you like and don't like, based on real world usage. Thanks very much for what you have posted. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has found it to be very, very helpful I just picked up my Polestar 2, and am loving the car. I have been disappointed in the Polestar app. I'm not sure whether I will bother with continuing to try to get it to work. I suspect that I may have to go through the same process that you did, setting up a whole new account. Your comments that if Polestar can build a car, which clearly involves massive ties to their parent company Volvo, then absolutely they can build an app, and do a better job of getting help from Mommy Volvo. Their failure to do so makes me concerned that they are not actually ready to play in the big league with Tesla as a combined automotive and technology company. This worries me a bit for the future. I have been pleased to see the improvements that they have made with the P1.7 update. I hope that they follow through with devoting the attention that they ought to for the app. I look forward to seeing a video on your thoughts about the changes to the efficiency of the car with the most recent OTA update.
Hi and welcome back I have ordered my Polestar 2 due March. Like you I have a non smart Charger at home and I have the Octopus tariff 5p at night. Please can you confirm. Can i not set scheduled charging from within the car? I can currently do this on my Bmw app. Or in car Appriate your help Mark
Unfortunately you can't set scheduled charging at the moment. It's one annoying limitation. A smart charger or ohme cable is the only current way to schedule the charge
I think that polestar will work to improve the app as they can over time, especially considering they’ve got more upcoming cars using AAOS, so most features for new cars should be available on the 2 (unless it requires hardware obviously). The car hasn’t been out that long and they’re the first ones ever to be using AAOS, not to mention being a relatively new software team. I’m sure they’ve hit more roadblocks than they’d have liked but from what I can tell about how the car is setup, they should be able to implement almost every feature Tesla’s app has. I’m really hoping for sentry / dash cam but I’m not holding my breathe.
Placed my order for Polestar 2 Dual Motor and can’t wait. Watched a lot of your videos and it’s a great car with great features! The app is abismal though, very clunky and unaesthetic looking at this. Every app I’ve had with a range of manufacturers has been far superior. My wife has the new 500 electric and the app on that is much much better, same on my Land Rover not electric but the app was very good.
on most reviews of the Polestar they mention the ridiculously cheap feeling Key fob thing that looks to be made from plastic usually reserved for the toys you get in kinder eggs - are they really that bad?
Paak: You can lose your keys just as easily, if not easier, than a phone (you're much more likely to realize that you don't have your phone quickly than that you don't have your keys and the less time between the time you misplace something and the time you realized it's misplaced is the biggest factor in retrieving it). The battery concern is legit, but really only if you're out in the woods, because if you're located in civilization you can find a place to charge the phone up, so it is an inconvenience that would seldom occur. Yes, if you're going into rural areas, definitely make sure to take a fob in your pocket (a pocket in a different piece of clothing than where you keep the phone) as backup.
Just got my Polestar2 and started using the app. TBH once the climate timers are in place I don’t really use it other than checking on charging. It is nice to confirm I have locked the car (and lock it when you haven’t) Would be great to have the “where’s my car” feature and the ability to use those external speakers to make a here I am ping. Lost the car in the car park (went up wrong aisle)
I'm surprised they haven't used the Volvo app as a template. I mean it is also pretty rubbish at times, but does have a lot more functionality than the polestar one.
I agree with this reviewer, but would go a little further. The car is great but the app is almost useless. I have used the Kia and BMW apps and those allow me schedule charging, monitor my remaining miles, and learn about diagnostics as well as monitoring recalls. The Polestar app on the other hand only unlocks my door sets the climate and lock my doors. The Polestar 2 doesn't even have an accurate range odometer. In short, I hardly ever use the app, because in my view it is useless. BTW I wouldn't trust it to reliably unlock and start my car without the key FOB.
Why do you have to tap the charge to see when it’ll complete? Why not just show that as the default? Omg, some app developers have a lot to learn. I see this often, unnecessary actions. You can’t close the windows? Turn on the heated seats? Beep the horn? Flash the lights? Set the charge amps?
So you've had the Polestar 2 for almost a year now. How do you feel about it? If given the choice to get a full refund would you do it? P.S I've seen your videos but I don't remember everything.
The app is so disappointing! Really does nothing compared to other cars. At least can warm it up, and lock and unlock doors. My charging status hardly works.
He’s back!!! Glad to see you’re okay and back making content. Look forward to watching this one after work!
Glad to see you’re back on TH-cam :)

Oh, hello Sir. Good to see you are still around. :)
Hi, nice to see you’re back!
Totally agree on your perspectives on the APP comparison. Polestar/Android Automotive gotta step up their game.
Thank you for an interesting comparison. The Kia app is indeed clearly much more useful. Let's hope that Polestar will follow suit (I got mine last Thursday :)

Why? Lol

That's what I meant by, it could be better.
Hope it fits with the translation now. :-|

surely if they can write the software to control the car it is within their wits to write a phone app ...
So long since the last video. Thought you had crashed the car on the way back from East Midlands Airport or something!!!
The app is so disappointing! Really does nothing compared to other cars. At least can warm it up, and lock and unlock doors. My charging status hardly works.
5p per kWh? In Germany we are at US105p hah 😂
I think Kia Ev6 is easy better than Polestar
