Ahh thank God. I thought you said 4000 and that had me wondering if I should pass on this upgrade. But 1000 is actually cheaper than the tune I installed on my 718 Boxster. So...let's go!
Seeing an EV getting dyno'd was quite interesting. Pretty nuts to think where technology is going these days. Btw loved Pancake's attempt at getting in the car. She did her best.
Ok the configuration you need on snow to not get stuck is : 1. Keep tracking control on 2. Turn off one pedel 3. Turn on Creep mode 4. Turn off collision assistance Then you can plow though anything. I learned the hard way.
I want to be honest... Your videos definitely have a higher quality with a camera man and these cinematic shots BUT I personally liked the VLOG style videos more because they are more like "real", i guess... Nevertheless very nice video!
Awesome video .car looks awesome and update ova was cool to see i just wish u would have shared..update time in definitely polar star fan thanks 4 sharing
Torque IS power. Both are directly linked. When we say that a car accelerates better because more torque, it's just another way (that is not quite right) to say that it has more power in the low end
Torque is a force, it is not power. You can have exceptionally high torque, with minimal power. Imaging a toddler turning a manual winch with a 100 foot long level. Exceptional torque, still has the power of a toddler.
You. You said torque is power. It is not. A car doesn’t accelerate better because of torque. It accelerates because of power (torque at a rate of work) and gear ratios.
@@Meiliv Yeah, unless you're saying someone hacked your account? That is the parent comment to this thread. "Torque IS power. Both are directly linked. When we say that a car accelerates better because more torque, it's just another way (that is not quite right) to say that it has more power in the low end"
In a car with no gearbox then yes, torque is what you directly feel on your back, but in a car with a gearbox you can always generate (wheel)torque with proper gearing if your engine has a lot of RPM to play with but not much torque. You can have a ton of torque but no RPMs, so in order to move at reasonable speeds you need longer gears and longer gears decrease wheel torque, which is what ultimately makes the car accelerate. So yeah, proper use of power wins races, always.
I think what gets me is that horsepower *is a function of torque.* It’s the torque delivery rate. Comparing them as separate entities is like asking whether air or breathing is better.
Don't know what your SoC was during the dyno run, but that affects the outcome. The extra horses from the upgrade are available at: SoC 70%-100% --> fully available SoC 40%-70% --> limited available Soc 0%-40% --> not available
i can't wait to see the polestar 2 on the Nurburgring! :D P.S: for whatever reason I started making car noises when the car was running on the dyno lol
“Bhp wins races, torque breaks shit” Alex Peak Performance Reviews. Impressive all the same and yeah in an EV tbf yeah the torque would or may be more important 👍
Sweet, have the upgrade in my own P2, and love the upgrade… But, you talked about ”your personal” chassi settings (not only no of damper clicks), when can you reveal your chassis settings? Camber, caster toe and so on?
Out of curiosity, what color Polestar is this? I assume it's a Moon version, but I can't be sure. Some of their colors really look different depending on the lighting.
Great video!!!! €1000 is crazy money, for what is 0 & 1 over the internet. Also, small thing. There is no 'torques', the plural of torque is torque. Just like you wouldn't say 'horsepowers'
If that make any different in range? And you can make video see what feels different between software updates now and before? How much for software updates? Can anyone have one make it? Real Thanks for your information keep going 👍🏼
Depends on what you care about. Model 3 performance version is still faster with better acceleration. Hell even the long range model 3 is still faster, with better acceleration and an extra 100 miles of range or so. So not quite sure what advantage the extra HP or torque gives you here Also I’m not sure what videos you’ve watched but most have said the model 3 has better responsiveness and handling. I test drove them and thought the same thing. Polestar weighs like half a thousand pounds more than it, not much you can do about that. Where polestar wins is in suspension and damping. It has a much smoother ride. That’s why you get the car, not for it’s faster acceleration or top speed, but for it’s smoothness and ride quality.
@@philorgneopolotin8762 True, just happy to see Polestar catching up in other categories. Range is the biggest disadvantage, but that is to be expected for CMA platform vehicles, and the next generation model should have none of those constraints. (Primarily ICE optimized chassis which makes adding a larger battery frustratingly difficult.) However, the P2 is already winning in terms of looks, interior quality, build quality, arguably technology, and price. Although what I'm really exited for is the Polestar 3.

I'm gonna be honest, I was just thinking yesterday whether this was possible "to upgrade" if we would like to when we buy it. Also, can this upgrade also compatible on LR and SR single Motor's?
The single motors are 175kW from a single motor, I think the dual motor upgrade is putting the torque and power on each of the dual motors up to that carefully without affecting the battery
Hey Misha, Oh firstly i saw how make a Software Update to a electric Car. 👌 Nice. I hope in Future ist coming more of them to many vihicles and the topspeed goes up. Have a nice Weekend and VG ✌️
9:31 the horsepower/torque explanation is off. Horsepower is literally the power, torque is not. The torque/horsepower remark of Jay Leno is also out of context. It only works when comparing a gas car with grunt throughout the rev range, which typically means high torque, with a peaky engine with a lot of hp in a narrow range. This remark came from a time where gearboxes had very few ratios, such that peak power was less important and behavior throughout the rev range was more important.
....hp is the power of your engine. it's just that peak power only tells where it is, the overall power curve matters(and dictates the torque curve anyway).
Hi Misha, I have reviewed your videos on Polestar 2 and I have ordered the Long Range dual motor with performance pack, pilot pack and plus options. I currently own a BMW M5 (2016) F10 and I am interested to know what are the best settings to setup the Öhlins Dual Flow Valve dampers for country winding roads and motorway driving. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I watched a couple reviews on the Lucid EV and I like the looks of this Polestar much more. Plus it cost like 1/3 as much so I'm sure Polestar will be selling well. Tesla Plaid is impressive but 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds is completely unnecessary.
0 to 100 in 3 seconds improves security and that’s why I’m looking for it in my next car. But I love my polestar. I drive 210 half of the time so it’s important to take into consideration.
Sadly we can't get it in Belgium, although 408hp is still more than enough for everyday driving, to overtake people and all. The car is already amazing nonetheless.
Are those graphs horsepower and torque at the wheels, or "corrected" in some weird way? (ICE guys love to add nonsense "corrections" to try to get crankshaft horsepower and it's invariably wrong!)
Hi Misha, many thanks for showing this as there is a dearth of information in the upgrade so far. I'm keen to get your thoughts on the sharper throttle mapping. When test driving, it was very obvious that the mapping was very slow/wide on initial travel, then ramped up quickly making it feel a little dull. Supposedly this update sharpens that response on part throttle applications.
That's the first time I see an eletrical car in dyno. The torque curve going lower as speed increases looked a bit different to me. Did you know if it's done eletronically to save battery, it has something to do with the transmission or there are some other reason I didn't figuring out?
Nah, for one part it's how electric motors work and for the other half it's tuned that way. Think of it as the opposite approach how OEM Turbo engines are calibrated: flat torque peak all the way through the mid rpm range and then falling off while power tops out around max rpm.
Nice video. But, the audio levels are all over the place in this video. The music is too much louder than the rest of the content. Please watch those audio peaks! 🙂
Torque isn’t more important! Maybe if you are towing something or your car is really heavy. But for sporty driving, speed and performance horsepower is much more important. If it wouldn’t be this case a 911 Gt3 would be as fast as 2.0 tdi…
I hope that others will also have the same options to up-sell performance packs after the fact, sort of like a DLC OTA update. Webshop, click, click and you’re done 😍
Just a big pronounciation correction: it sounds like I say four thousand Euro €4000, but I mean for (a) thousand Euro €1000 .
Haha, that is a big differet😂
Ahh, already wondered and thought "wow, that's a lot for software" but 1000€ is very much ok!
I heard it the way you meant it but can understand that others might not have.
I thought 4000 was expensive for a software update, thanks for the clarification.

So this would be like an overclock to the computer I wonder if one day we will be able to upgrade the batteries like a upgrading a gpu
