Love book haul videos - some fantastic books there. I see you have my fave painting on your wall - I absolutely love the sunflowers 🌻

Great haul! For the US fiction, I'd recommend starting with To Kill a Mockingbird. It was voted as #1 on the PBS The Great American Read.

So many great finds, and I love your bookshelf! Loved The Nightingale and All the Light We Cannot See (would definitely recommend reading it before the watching the show and listening to the audiobook too)!

I love your shelves! We have some crossover in reading interests. I loved A Man Called Ove. I also want to read Ulysses... maybe next year 😊.

That's such a great haul. I love Wodehouse, they're just fun escapist reads. You are correct the TV show is based on his books and they stick quite closely to them so if you enjoyed the show I'm sure you'll enjoy the books.

@enjay5087 Thank you 😊 I really loved the show. It has been decades since I last watched them, but in my memory they were so funny.

Sorry for the abnormally long comment to go with the abnormally long video
I absolutly adore the Priory of the Orange Tree and the prequel A Day of Fallen Night even more! (Both can be read as standalones but i do rec reading Priory first)
I read a lot of feminist fantasy, heres a few recs
-The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec
-The Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa
-The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen (some genre blending)
-The Mermaid the Witch and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall
-A Thousand Steps Into Night by Traci Chee
-Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao (fantasy sci-fi and I have the sequel preordered)
-The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne (is written by a man but I love the women (particularly Orka who could take on an army from most fantasy books))
I just finished book 5 in The Servent of the Crown series by Denise Domning, they are mysteries set in 1193-1194 with a retired knight and a monk investigating murders, i think you'd really like them.
I really liked The Ocean at the end of the Lane.
I love the Jeeves and Wooster stories (and yes it is pronounced like Woodhouse) the BJ Harrison narrated ones are great too.
I also have My Brilliant Friend and The Scarlet letter on my tbr this year!
I also agree I learn far more about problematic things the past from books , the modern tendancy to avoid problematic things doesn't help understanding or solving the problems.
My Audible is $229 USD per year (for the best plan available) which Google said was about 13.500 Króne

The book shelves are looking lovelier than ever! I didn't love The Secret History, but The Ocean at the End of the Lane is one of my favorites. I hope you'll love it too. I would absolutely want to read that again at some point. I look forward to your thoughts on Bandit Queens and To Kill a Mockingbird, I loved them both. Infuriating, but great. I would also like to hear what you think of Atlas Six, I've heard some mixed things, some love it and some don't, so I would be interested to know what you think about it. And that copy of Burial Rites is stunning, you've made me want to read that as well!
As for your goal/rules, I think you should think about how long it would take you to get to 1000 books if you have to have max 50 unread. Just do the math and see if that seems resonable / fun to you ^^

@ellenmadebookclub Good to know about the books, I'm quite excited about getting to all of them!
I do believe that the 1000 book goal is a very long term one. I do have plenty that I've read that I haven't bought yet, but when I've finished buying all the books I've read and loved, I will have to re-evaluate how I will continue. Maybe I'll never get to a thousand, but it's a fun bucket list wish 😊
