We have a lot of similar answers, particularly about annotating and reading multiple books. I've never dog-eared, though :) The picture I have in my head of reading in the bath has never matched the reality, so I don't bother any more. I don't mind DNF as a verb (if 'google' is a verb, then fair enough), and I do so if a story doesn't grab me or I'm not feeling it. That said, I sometimes return to these books and end up liking them because reading can be very mood dependent. That's an interesting observation about skipping. I'm sometimes tempted in a tense thriller, but just about manage to restrain myself. I've never seen a LFL but envisaged a 1 to 1 exchange, though I really like your take about making books available to people who might not usually have them.
I don't usually dog-ear that much either, but for Piranesi I needed to mark down the evidence somehow! 😂 But otherwise, I feel like that also is a bit of a giveaway for a reread. I just noticed there are a couple of dog-ears in a book I thrifted, and that annoys me a little because I don't want any heads up about anything! Never said I was logical about any of this! 😂 Yes, expectation vs reality on the bath can be very disappointing! I'm not going to give up though! One day I will have the perfect bathroom for reading and the perfect setup for maximum comfort and convenience! I don't mind DNF as a verb either, I just think it's funny because there's already a verb in there, so there's like a double layer of verbs. Google is just a noun that has been turned into a verb, because "search on Google" is too long, and there wasn't another word that meant that already. But DNF is an abbreviation for a verb in the past tense, and a negated one at that! (I'm trying my best with the terminology here haha) It's basically short for "marked as DNF", but it's being used where other words could be used instead, like quit or put to the side or left it for now. But I think there's shame attached to "quitting", so DNF sounds a bit less shameful. And then people still want to debate whether it's "allowed" or not 😂 I'm really not very serious about it, I just find words and language and how it's used socially is interesting! I think I might have skipped sometimes when I was very young and wanted to make sure that a character survived a scary scene, so that I could relax a little bit! But now I feel like the tension is exactly what you want in a thriller! Unless of course it's way too tense, then I could understand the need to ease your mind a bit :) Yes, it's supposed to be 1-1 exchange, but it would mean that you had to always have a book with you and that just seems very unpractical. So 1-1 but with some flexibility in time, is what I'm saying is fine.

I think it's a very reasonable thing to do to protect yourself and your emotions. Emotions are hard ^^ I cry all the time though, most recently today finishing A man called Ove.
@@ellenmadebookclub OOHHH, I can't wait for A Man Called Ove then. I have it on my TBR.... maybe I'll feel the same emotions 🥹
I don't know... I just like knowing the ending. Eg. "OH WHAT JUST HAPPENED??? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?" and then I go binge the series because I need to know how we got from point A to point B 😂It doesn't feel like a spoil for me but more of a "how did we get there???"
@@itsmimiduong I think A man called Ove is set up that way already, we get to see from the start what he wants to do and then there are chapters throughout looking back, to explain how that he got there. My challenge to you is to read it without spoilers 😉 It’s sad but also beautiful and heartwarming, I think you can handle it! 😊
Loved hearing your answers!! 💕
I'm glad you enjoyed! ^^ Consider yourself tagged as well if you haven't done this one already!
@@ellenmadebookclub I just posted mine last week. I definitely do some things you don’t. 🫣 One of those I’m changing cause I never thought about it and now I can’t un-think it. 🤣
@@Maeve_Ever_Books Just watched yours! Is it the particles? 😂
@@ellenmadebookclub Yep!! Exactly that. 🤢
@@Maeve_Ever_Books Sorry, and you're welcome! 😁
