I love this watch . Still using it on the daily basis , more than 10 yrs , running smoothly , no battery needed , perpetual calendar it will figure automatically each month no of days ,. Sapphire glass . The watch looks clasically good . The bracelet is nice . Solid built
I Love, love, love this watch. Had it for about 10 years, it was a gift from my wife and i can not imagine ever moving to another watch as long as this one continues to run :)
I have this one since 2005 if remember well, beautiful watch, still running strong. I bought it when I left Dubai to work in UK. Some scratches as expected but going strong.
I have one of these, and I just love it. Citizen doesn't have a sapphire crystal replacement for these, but it's a 32.5mm crystal, and there are a ton of sapphire options available on the internet in that size. I used a double domed sapphire on mine, since the angle of the dome is pretty much the same as the slight slope of the watch's bezel. I don't generally swim with a watch on, but the 10 ATM water resistance on this one makes it totally safe in any general use circumstances where it might get wet. I also don't travel a lot, but since we still use daylight savings time where I live, the second time zone setting makes that twice a year pain in the butt super easy to deal with. Lol. Love, love, love this watch.
I have the same watch I've had mine for about 6-7 years I only use it for special occasions still keeps very good time even in its dark box. I just take it out and leave it on the window sill a couple of days once a year. And to this day you can still buy the same watch for around the same money my wife paid all those years ago.like you say very good quality and a good weight to it as well.
I just got this watch and I am in love with it. I travel a lot so I wanted a solid watch to have home time and travel time available. This video pushed me over the edge into buying it so thanks!
Yes, this is perhaps my best watch of all time. I agree about the scratching....I wish the crystal was sapphire. I had one issue where that hands went way out of alignment and it had to go for a service....all fixed now and I've had it almost ten years.
Thanks for the reply. After I tried aligning the hands per the instruction a few times I sent my watch in to determine what was wrong with it. They found the gear mechanism that controls the hands and date was broken and would require almost $200 to replace. I wound up buying another one just like my first watch for $250 so I now have a weekday watch that I try to keep scratch free and a weekend watch that I don't mind if it takes a beating.
Oh thank you for this video my watch stop working I took it to get fix they were charging me 120.00 here in la but I saw how how u caliber your watch wow now it works like magic thank you so much and nothing was wrong with my watch it was just not on local time lol
@TheEvanMG It's a great watch but yes, the crystal and the watch are susceptible to getting scratched...but I probably tend to be more "heavy handed" with my watches than most....it's one reason I'm looking for a good robust watch with a sapphire crystal,
I was hoping that you would provide setting instructions for this overly complex watch. Mine stops working if it doesn't get light after a few days and I can't find the manual at home or on line. I do have other Eco Drives that don't have this issue. Wife bought mine too. How about that Blue Angels Eco Drive?
if you review waterproof watches and if you can get either warrantied or expendable watches, it would be interesting to see deep submersion tests. I used to do a little amateur freediving, maybe 15 years ago, with a maybe 200$ casio, not expensive by watch standards but considering it's cheap plastic and primitive electronics. I dove a couple of times to 8-10m in cool fresh water and it died. I think it said 100m. they are basically all lying and it would be nice to call them on it publically.
I have this exact same watch and shortly after Feb 28 this year my dial which points to the day of the week was pointing to "L.Y." when I was in time mode. In my efforts to correct that problem by doing an all-reset as outlined in the instruction manual, my day of the month always shows half way between the numbers which makes it impossible to see which day of the month it is. I've tried doing two more resets but it never puts the day of month in the correct position. Thanks!
@orbiter8 Aaah, ok...so I'm not the only one that's had a bad experience having a watch opened by a jeweler...solar is the way to go! Thanks for posting and watching.
It looks exactly the same as mine but I was surprised to see he sapphire in the spec. There's some interesting chat about the China vs Japan model. Search Google for "Citizen BL8009-50L vs. BL8009-76L"
Hi I,ve just gotten myself a solar power watch charger so you have an estimated time i should leave my bl8000 54l on charge for or even an estimated time
I have the same watch and had to have the movement replaced after 4 years of ownership. Now it stopped working again after a little after 5 yrs. Is the backup battery to replaced that often?
So I would like to buy a metal bracelet for this model, I do not find in Romania, can someone give me a link, from where I can buy and possibly what model of battery (battery) he needs, to replace it
Just buy one with a Sapphire Crystal, these ones just scratch to easy. The Casing is also little small. Try the later version with the new AT4008-51E Sapphire Crystal and 42 mm casing.Nice Timepieces.
I have the gold version with a white face . my favorite watch and always gets compliments when I'm out . just to say to all the people commenting about scratches on their glass , if you looked after it then it wouldn't get scratched I paid 350 quid for mine in gold and it doesn't have one scratch , not even on the bracelet and I've owned and worn it for 2 years nearly . look after your shit people. buy a cheap 50 quid casio or timex for pissing about in .
Good for you! If you can pop me the ebay item number I would love to take a look. In terms of testing the sapphire...Mmmm, short of trying to scratch the crystal as test...I'm not sure.
It is definitely not a dress watch as it is a little too big and gets caught on clothing if wearing a suit or jacket. it is a brilliant watch and is one of my best casual watches.
THE MINERAL CRYSTAL ON THIS PIECE IS GARBAGE. MY WATCH FACE IS ALL SCATCHED UP TO HIGH HEAVEN. THE SILVER OUTER CASING AND WRISTBAND ALSO SCRATCES UP VERY EASILY TOO. ALSO, *THE DARK BLUE FACE IS WAY TOO DARK LOOKING AND IT RUINS THE OVERALL APPEARANCE.* IT IS ONE OF MY LEAST FAVORITE WATCHES
I love this watch . Still using it on the daily basis , more than 10 yrs , running smoothly , no battery needed , perpetual calendar it will figure automatically each month no of days ,. Sapphire glass . The watch looks clasically good . The bracelet is nice . Solid built
Exactly same for me. I've had one for more than 11 years!
Just bought one and love it 👍
You just have added the sapphire crystal bc the stock crystal is mineral
I Love, love, love this watch. Had it for about 10 years, it was a gift from my wife and i can not imagine ever moving to another watch as long as this one continues to run :)

Regarding the scratches u can do buffering from watch service centre or repairer to make it look like new.

You are Exactly like me and my watch!
I just got this watch and I am in love with it. I travel a lot so I wanted a solid watch to have home time and travel time available. This video pushed me over the edge into buying it so thanks!
Just got one of these watches today at a hock shop. Looks the same as yours. Worn well and well worn. Thanks for your review.
I have the same watch...Still going strong after about 15 years. It's in immaculate condition, like brand new old stock....
I had that same problem with mine...had to take it in for a service which did correct the problem. Thanks for watching.

This watch has a Sapphire crystal . But doesn't mean it totally scratchless totally overtime
Hey, thanks for the video. Just wanted to check with you on hows the Watch performing after years. I am thinking to buy this one now.
Thanks!
I've got the same watch, only with a leather band. I found it at a pawnshop a handful of years back and I believe I paid under $100 for it.
Thanks for the reply. After I tried aligning the hands per the instruction a few times I sent my watch in to determine what was wrong with it. Ok thank you. With my small wrist it's difficult to find a classy watch which doesn't look too big for me. :)

I've always had citizens their fantastic watches got myself a wr200 great?

i had this one too i did like it but sold it and bought the red arrows citizen which was a re-market of the nighthawk you can get outside the UK.
It looks exactly the same as mine but I was surprised to see he sapphire in the spec. There's some interesting chat about the China vs Japan model. Search Google for "Citizen BL8009-50L vs. BL8009-76L"

Mine has been in a drawer since last 8 years and doesn’t seem to be working. Any suggestions how to get it going?
I am going through the watch reviews and I am learning much. Thanks.
Mr clean magic eraser and some water with a little soap. takes all those scratches off.
Thanks for the info. Do you recall what you paid to have your watch fixed? Appreciate the quick reply.
@DanFrederiksen Thanks Dan...interesting feedback...certainly a consideration for a future video / project. Thanks for posting.
i see the months named around the edge, does that do anything, does it point to them as they change or are they just for looks
yeah I did that. sapphire glass is mentioned. Well the ebay item is at a good price, so I'll guess I'll see :)
Nice watch! I have the same one, and my wife bought mine for me too!
@liljone I should...and replace the the crystal.
In my opinion you can't bet a citizen eco drive for Utillataring
Proposes their great! good
Info on lastability ".
I have the same watch and had to have the movement replaced after 4 years of ownership. Now it stopped working again after a little after 5 yrs. Is the backup battery to replaced that often?
@orbiter8 P.S..that Casio Edifice looks like a great watch...It was one of my considered purchases as well.
My pleasure, thanks for the feedback.
@DanFrederiksen water resistance should not be confused with water proof.
Yup, my wrist is small but I tried it on my wife's wrist which is smaller and it would fit.
So I would like to buy a metal bracelet for this model, I do not find in Romania, can someone give me a link, from where I can buy and possibly what model of battery (battery) he needs, to replace it
Thank for the feedback!
i love this dial and movement. is there a version with duratect or at least sapphire glass?
what stopped working after 3 years . Whether charged done ?
I have been searching and there seems to be!
I ordered one on ebay, it's a Japanese version.
Any clue how I could see it is really sapphire :)?
Where can I find a video to set this??
Just buy one with a Sapphire Crystal, these ones just scratch to easy. The Casing is also little small. Try the later version with the new AT4008-51E Sapphire Crystal and 42 mm casing.Nice Timepieces.
Sakkie Venter Funny you should say that, I have the AT4010-50E on the way. And yes, a very nice timepiece.
can someone tell me why certain watches have calendar that goes beyond 31 days, for example, my mondaine, it goes to 37 and the 00, 01 and onwards?!
I have one but the function not working ,because day indicators is off position, what should I do,I don't know how to use..pls....
Read the manual, way to fix that yourself just with the crown and buttons. : )
Indeed. Thanks for your post.

I have the same one. Also my favourite and has no scratches either, and I've owned mine for two years now.
As I recall...it was about $20-$30.
Good for you! If you can pop me the ebay item number I would love to take a look.
In terms of testing the sapphire...Mmmm, short of trying to scratch the crystal as test...I'm not sure.
I would say you must have had bad luck. I've not had to replace my battery in ten years.
Thanks for the post.
@DanFrederiksen I have had this watch to 105ft in salt water and hundreds of times at shallower depths without any trouble at all.
Does it battery also get discharge..
Will this watch fit on a 6.5" wrist ?
No...not that I know of as it is something I would like to have too.
Is it still working?
Yes I love that watch too thanks for the review. :)
@mmalsucrazy when they write 100m on it, it's hard to claim 'water resistance'. it's just a lie and they shouldn't be allowed to do it.
Someone please tell me about BL8007-55L surface. It is sapphire or mineral crystal or hardlex?
+trung phan van you call buy BL8009-76L with sapphire crystals, it perfect!!
Bhai ees watch ka day kaise banaye
How big is this watch?
I just find one in the Savers store Minneapolis mn for 19 dollars
i don't think this is a dress watch, it's more of a sports watch
It is definitely not a dress watch as it is a little too big and gets caught on clothing if wearing a suit or jacket.
it is a brilliant watch and is one of my best casual watches.
This is quality asmr.
Quartz movement is the way to go.

Annoyingly complex setting on Citizen ecodrive. I have one. It keeps excellent time, but I would never buy another.
