Fantastic video! If your watch lost power due to being stored out of a light source (like I did...) I'd recommend skipping to 11:04 and performing the all reset and zero positioning procedure to start with a clean slate to reset your time. Once done, go back to the beginning of the video and set time, date and leap year. I love my Eco-drive watch. Tried an iWatch for a year and went back to simple and basic. Gave the iWatch to my kid.
I got this watch for my 18th birthday because my dad knows I have an interest in watches and he hopes that I start a collection of my own someday. I feel like this is a strong start
This is such a helpful video. I've had my watch for over 20 years and I have never had to play with it much. Recently, after leaving the crown in the 2nd position for a few weeks, I had to reset the time and date. I had no idea what to do as I do not know where to find my manual. This video was so helpful and showed me things about my watch that I had long forgotten. For example, I never realised that it was possible to set the month or a local time. During the process of resetting the watch, I accidentally turned on the alarm (another function that I was not aware came with the watch) this video has helped me to gain a much better understanding of my timepiece. Thank you.
Excellent video. Helped me easily reset my watch after I'd left it in the dark for far too long. While the hands on the watch did not go to the exact same locations specified in the video, setting the watch was spot on. I did not attempt to set an alarm, but I suspect that would work as well.
great help, my watch had died, tried all the usual remedies, giving it light for up to four days but no good, had new capacitor battery fitted, no good, finally, and this is not in the manual, nor have i read it anywhere . I pulled out the crown to the second position then put my finger nails under the edge of the crown and pulled even harder, I figured it was broke so nothing to lose! anyway, with the crown pushed back in, I then held both buttons in for quite a while, much longer than the 30 seconds Ive seen in the manual/on line, suddenly the second hand started moving, I was so chuffed as I had pretty much accepted that the watch was a goner. finding this on line was such a help so Ive saved it to my favourites for any future reference, great thanks
I had to do a 'All reset & Zero' because as it turns out, my watch wasn't just pointing to the wrong day, EVERYTHING was out of whack! I never understood why i could never trust the date. My 24 hour needle showed the correct position for the time of day but the date would change some time during the morning, and i had no idea when. turns out that was off by about 5 hours or so. Aftere purchase in 2012, last week.....after a pause of month or so its battery got drained and when I came to know that, it was worried. Searched a lot, tried a lot with pdf manual, but when I saw this video, got a great relief and just now fixed all issues like reference position and master reset... Now again its ON :-) .. i've had my Citizen with this movement for a good 6 or 7 years and i'm so glad this video exists, the second hand always seems to go out of alignment for some reason every now and then and i never remember how to reset it... i'm sure the manual has it written fine, but having the animation is so much better, haha

Thanks a lot. I set my watch up over a 15 to 20 minutes period only to find out I had to reset the darn thing because they saved that small tidbit of information and for zeroing out your watch till the very end.

My Black Citizen 870 watch, for one reason or another lost the correct position on the function hand. so sunday was tuesday and the saturday was pointing almost to the second F in the off section of the on. off. of the alarm portion of the function dial. this video and the All Reset and Zero Positioning 11:04 section fixed this problem after a good day in the sun. love this watch and have since i was 24 years old and im now 32 so.. nnedless to say an amazing watch and the finish has lasted with minimal scratches and loss of the black color to bare metal. im a mechanic at work and wear my nice watch everyday all day so regardless of work or play. and being a mechanic my watch is alway getting draged acrost metal in tight spots i stick my hand into to wrench on things im Very suprised the finish has lasted this long and this well. ive had stainless steel bare metal watches that were nothing compared to this watch in duarabilty in stratched and dings.. still havent broken or chiped the crystal and thats alot to say in that may years of mechanics... will buy again hands down.

I have just bought this BL8002-59A Citizen watch just recently, I got into setting without any problem, and I very much like the watch generally, but the only problem I have with it is that you cannot hear the alarm unless it is very close to your ear. You cannot hear the alarm when the watch it is on your wrist, what is the point of that, can that be fixed.
I have being waiting to purchase this watch for the past 3 years. Just purchase via second owner EBAY and the best feel and weight ever. ONLY draw back ALARM NOT LOUD ENOUGH
Any light will do not just the sun. Just store it in an open area of your house where light either comes in or is switched on for a chunk of the day and you'll be fine. Maybe "super charge" it initially with a flashlight directly on it for a few hours then wear it occasionly. I put mine in a box about a year after I got it and it stopped. But then came back to life after getting some light. Now I just keep it as I advised and no issues in about 8 years or so. Great timepiece.

Great video, but you should have started with the zeroing procedure first. I set the time and date, then zeroed the watch, then had set the time and date all over again.
It would’ve been nice if they had the repositioning to zero in the very beginning instead of at the end. I had to watch it twice which took about 45min to adjust everything but I agree, that it’s way better following along than the little booklet you get.
But not everybody needs to do that. I only needed to reset my date and leap year for the perpetual calendar. But I agree would be good to mention it at the beginning so you could skip to the end.

You're probably not set correctly on the 24 hour clock. In other words you've got the 6am set as the 6 pm so it's advancing the day forward at 12 noon every day instead of midnight. Just a guess.
Great instructions. However, i am trying to an all reset and have to repeat it quite a few times as it did not do a true all reset. Meaning, if you set the minute and hour hand at 12 position, the 24 hr at 24, day on SUN and date at 1, when you push the crown all in, it should start from there.. no sir! Mine still got offset, the min went to 2 position, date at 31, second at 25. I did a repeat, this time set the day and date. Then working on the minute hand, it is quite stubborn, I tell you but not as temperamental as the second hand. It went itty close and jumped again... Well, am dealing with a 10 year old acting like a teen, so now with this watch I am dealing with the same situation. Anyway, I know this is the only way to recalibrate, so patience pays... Ensure the zero position at 9:26 and the all reset at 11:04
I have a huge problem. I got the bl8000-54l and while trying to set the time and calendar again (it was slowing down), I cannot set anything in the calendar mode. All is frozen. I cannot go from month to date to ly setting either. It's all frozen. Then I go to ltm mode trying to reset, but in the 2nd click - the second hand keep moving and the hour minute hand only scroll through the time hours at the faster pace. Not one tick at a time. It's incredibly frustrating to time it for a reset.

Anybody know how to set time accurately in L-TM (local time) mode down to the minute? The minute hand moves complete 60 minutes when you turn the crown and there is apparently no way to stop that. Is citizen selling a watch that cannot show accurate time (in the secondary time zone) ?

But that's really only to tell the WATCH what month it is so it knows how many days in the month etc to show you as it goes through the year. You should probably know what month it is without it telling you. Like if it's 31 one day then the next day it's 1, then it's probably the next month...
