Sephiroth Will Not Let Cloud Die in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

- Welcome back everyone! Rebirth is here so you know the drill. In this video I will recap the events of the game starting with chapter 1 and ending at the start of chapter 3. Not only that but as we discuss the story I will also look to tie in all the theories we put together in our playthrough of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Sephiroth: **laughs** “I don't wanna kill you. What would I do without you? Go back to ripping off mob dealers? No. No. No! No you- you complete me.”

I just wanted to add a couple of "easter eggs" I noticed in the flashback. First one. When you are in the truck and the camera pans around at the two soldiers, you get a close-up of one and can see Clould's hair under the helmet. There are also some flyers posted on the walls that reference Ruby Weapon and Zell from FF8. But the second thing I saw was during the sequence that the town is burning and you are making your way to Cloud's mom's house, you will see the guard that survived the trip on the ground also crawling that way. If you pay attention to the text on the left side of the screen, you will see that guard saying something about his mother. Those of us who have played the OG game know what is going on here. I think it was a nice shout-out to the OG game along with other FF titles.

I always wondered why Sephiroth specifically needed Cloud to get the black materia when he had so many clones he could have more easily taken control of more easilly, but then Rebirth shows just how much those Sephiroth clones are walking corpse who are not very durable when left to their own devices. Cloud is likely the most capable " Sephiroth clone" and the one whose symptoms seem to only be mental, Chadley wouldn't have chosen Cloud for his research if he wasn't in top tiers form physically speaking, (SPOILER warning !!) while even Broden Who is implied to also have been injected S-cells and to hear the call of Reunion, isn't as physically well as Cloud is
And also I think part of Sephiroth really wanted the satisfaction of having Cloud be the one to give him the black materia, as revenge for Cloud besting him in the Nibelheim reactor, and I also think as a way to spite Hojo who Labelled Cloud as a failure despite the fact that Cloud would be the only "clone" in FF7 OG to reach Sephiroth in the North crater
2:22 At this point as Zack is heading for the slums we see a single white feather falling. Feathers tend to come from those like Sephiroth who were created by the Jenova project, with it being established that heroes have white feathered wings and those who become monsters having black feathered wings. So, whose feather is this? It could be Genesis, he’s still alive and could have helped Zack take out most of the guards. Or maybe Sephiroth’s somehow stopped being evil? Or maybe in this timeline Angeal somehow doesn’t die and helps Zack escape.
The green flashes aren’t Clouds 2 personalities clashing, it’s his JENOVA cells rewiring his brain to either do what JENOVA wants, or make him be unable to recognize information that would cause him to stray away from JENOVAs control
…….it should be noted if your paying attention, this exact thing happens to sephiroth when he sees the monsters in the reactor,
Sephiroth will was too strong for the most part for JENOVA to exert control over him, however with the events of Crisis core, him having his friends Genesis and Angeal turn on him and Shinra
Having to contend with Elfe in the Before Crisis mobile game causing him to question why he fights
When he saw those monsters in the reactor causing him to question his existence it was the straw that broke and JENOVA went ham at that opportunity
yeah, this was my headcannon too.
I've been hearing recently that the story is Sephiroth was controlling Jenova all along now.
I still think Jenova controlling him made more sense. From my perspective, he was led astray when he came close to a large piece of Jenova that influenced him. This pushed him to discover the truth of his creation in nibelheim, and pushed him further. Once he retrieved the Jenova piece, it fully took control of him because he let it. This converted him fully into the villain sephiroth we know.
At that point, I don't think Jenova is controlling him, but created this new version of him. If anything I would think this new villain version ends up controlling Jenova afterwards. That would make the most sense if Sephiroth was in control by the end of FF7.
EDIT: Random tidbit. I think cloud and sephiroth relationship is pretty interesting if you look at it this way. Cloud wasn't remarkable, he was another foot soldier. Once he was infused with mako and jenova cells to be part of the reunion, he even failed at that. This failure however is why I think sephiroth is drawn to cloud. Not just another piece in the reunion, but his ability to resist the jenova cells and maintain mako infusion. I think this draws out sephiroths inner conciousness where he knows he has gone mad, and cloud is his answer. Somebody who can actually resist and deny the madness.
I believe the outer consciounsess is trying to break clouds will to shut down the inner voice and show that the reunion is the only answer. Sephiroth may be having an internal struggle that comes out as a weird personal connection to cloud.
@@yummychips_ Sephiroth eventually gained full control over Jenova, but as to when is subjective. I believe the events leading up to his first death he was in fact under control. Sephiroth himself would never abandon his sword like he did, but Jenova definitely DOES. As seen with President Shinra. Sephiroth gained control while traveling the lifestream after his death.
@@andrewrenshaw2741FF7 ultimania has it listed that sephiroth was under control of JENOVA up until he got tossed into the mako and killed by cloud in nibelhiem

got to remember this to is half true about cloud memories. In the main ff7 for ps one cloud was a solider hiding under his mask because he never made first class.

I don't think Sephiroth killed the snake, the scene represents Cloud's possession, the same thing happens when Cloud starts killing a huge group of soldiers before attacking Tifa. The dark spot comes from Cloud. In the original game they speculated if this was a display of Sephiroth's strength, but here Cloud is used like the rest of the clones to manifest Sephiroth, as happens with the leader of Wutai. The most indicative of this is that the snake has Cloud trapped, but in the next scene there is a close-up of his eye and Cloud disappears, the snake is going to attack Sephiroth, but this only makes me think that Cloud has transformed into Sephiroth.

Zack is alive timeline
And OG timeline which Aerith basically confirmed when talking to Tifa that she did have memories from her future self but the whispers took them at the end of Remake, and it is also heavily speculated that Sephiroth had his memories from the OG timeline
I'd say its more timelines(universes) but we only see three during the game except for one particular part.
in the true memories Sephiroth was cloud friend
the party minus cloud with the terrier timeline is probably time doppelgangers of the party minus cloud during the final fight if we ever got wiped out. every game anyone ever played is all canon.
Fortunatelly I did all the side quest in the grass Lands which greatly helped me with my Level upping until the boss with the Midgarzolom where I didn't die once 🤟😆🤟

There's infinite timelines not just 2. Well maybe not infinite but when you go beyond 2 you may as well call it infinite cause no ones going to be able to keep up with what's going on in each of them at all times.
I have a notebook. In said notebook I have documented all of the happenings across all the timeliness, even the ones we haven't seen yet. (I don't have a notebook). To your point t sure there are more but to make things easy (lol) to follow I think we're only gonna deal with 2
Is there any other info in the game what they do with barret and tifas bodies? Or are they just forgotten about after?
As of now I'm almost done with chapter 3 and nothing as of yet. I would love to think they've survived but square has intwntional with showing both tifa and aerith dead at the beginning imo
I'm up to Chapter 7 and there's still been no return to Zack's timeline or exploration of what's going on there with him/Aerith/Avalanche.
It will be a long time before anything comes up because once I hit the Gold Saucer, I'm going to forget that Sephiroth is a threat for a loooooong time. 😆

Yeah, but instead of Sephiroth, Aerith is injected with Jenova Cells
the soundtrack is the biggest letdown. its excellent when it sticks to the original but the quality drops like a rock when you get into the "new" tracks.
Just listened to a track new to the game outside of Junon, and that was terrible!!!
If u can buy cards please let me kno I'm annoyed
